TL;DR: Rude hostess and inconsistent food but with a beautiful presentation and nicely decorated restaurant. Was excited to check out this Peking duck restaurant since our family are big fans of Peking duck, we've been to Beijing numerous times and eaten at Quanjude, Dadong and Liqun on multiple occasions but we've also had various versions of Peking duck across the U.S. Upon arrival we added ourselves to the waitlist using the tablet at the front of the restaurant. They then text you a link to an app to track your waitlist status. The link takes you to a website but there is no way track your status without downloading the app. Luckily when we went the wait was only fifteen minutes or so. When it's your turn you get a text and an automated phone call to let you know it's time. This is where things started to get weird. We approached the hostess stand and let the hostess know that we had gotten the text. Our hostess who had dyed brown hair confirmed our name and then just went silent. She began speaking to her cohostess and deleting things from her tablet and then simply never said anything else to us. She went inside the restaurant and we were expecting her to come back out to let us know when we'd be seated but instead she came back out and just ignored us completely. Instead she gave a smiling and friendly welcome to the party behind us while continuing to not say a single word about anything to us. Her cohostess came back out from inside and we asked her what was going on and she said "oh, I guess you can come inside too"? Just the absolutely most bizarre experience I've ever had from any host at any restaurant at any pricepoint. We're just a normal family of three and we weren't intoxicated or rude so it's just bizarre to have a restaurant start dinner off by pretending you don't exist. Thankfully, the rest of the staff seemed to be trying to be normal friendly human beings. We ordered a whole duck and a few side dishes and the duck came out and was carved tableside for us then placed in a tiered wooden box. Most of the duck had excellent and crispy skin. However, the meat seemed to have been roasted a bit too long, Peking duck is normally served quite well done, but this had gone past that and turned a bit mushy in texture. It was also disappointing that parts of the duck had skin that wasn't crispy at all. So the crispy portions were very very crispy but it was just inconsistent across the duck. The duck was served with garnishes of scallions, cucumbers, cantaloupe, pickled radish and carrots, as well as sugar and sauce for dipping. Very thin traditional pancakes were provided for wrapping. All of these things as well as the side dishes were very good. If I were to rate this place solely on food I would have given it 3.5-4 stars. If they could improve the consistency of the duck skin and reduce the roasting times slightly it'd have been spot on. But with the frankly just bizarre hostess experience it drops to two stars because that's just not acceptable.

Really enjoyed the duck, restaurant was super hospitable and service was great. Gave us a spare private room that happened to be available. Nice balance of spicy and non spicy food on the menu

3.8/5. Definitely a unique experience and one of the better places that serves peking duck. Customer service was top notch! I just wish this place was opened later during the weekdays. The duck was perfectly crunchy and juicy; the set comes with unlimited refills on sides, condiments, and buns. I would definitely recommend this place for its peking duck. It is on the pricier side for what it is. Dishes are also smaller in scale- but do give this spot a try!

10/10 - Food! This is probably the 2-3rd time we stopped by! I love every dishes out there. My favorite so far is the mouth water chicken! 10/10 - service is amazing, food comes super fast and we have polite waiters/waitresses 10/10 - love the decor!! The only down side to this is the fact that their number doesn't work. I think it's because they're located in TANGRAM, signal is extremely terrible. I recommend to stop by instead of calling!
Be the first to ReplyLove this spot for peking duck.
They give a good amount of duck and show you how to wrap it with all the assortments. They also use the bones from the peking duck to make a soup or fried peking duck bones! The squid fried balls and squid ink rice were just okay. I really like the service here because they accommodated us when we wanted to order off menu veggies. Super polite as well. The restaurant is decorated in a cool Chinese style.

Juqi, the renowned Beijing cuisine spot in Flushing, lived up to its reputation during our long-awaited visit. Conveniently located on the first floor of Tangram Mall, parking was easyat just $5 for two hours. The parking lot was cheaper and more spacious compared to other Flushing malls. A reservation made online a few days prior was a wise choice, as walk-ins were not accommodated. Stepping into the restaurant felt like stepping back in time, with its charming old Beijing decor. Now onto the food: - The star of the show was undoubtedly the Beijing roast duck--a mouthwatering masterpiece sliced before our eyes and expertly wrapped, complete with a lesson in proper dipping etiquette. Crispy skin, tender meat--it was a culinary symphony of flavors. - Some dishes didn't quite hit the mark for us, such as the crispy beef. It was served with fresh peppercorn but wasn't numbing enough for me. The noodle was deserved a little more mixing sauce in my opinion to really bring out the flavor. - Others dishes pleasantly surprised me, like the tender and flavorful lamb served on the grill. The fried tofu, though unconventional with its ketchup and mayo accompaniment, still managed to charm our taste buds. - Juqi fried rice provided a spectacle as it was lit on fire right before us, but unfortunately, the texture left much to be desired--too wet and chewy. I would not order it again unless I had guests with me and wanted to wow them with the presentation.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my second attempt to try this restaurant.
The first time I tried to walk in but gave up when I was told it'll be a 90min wait on a Sunday night. This time, I made a reservation which was fairly easy and they normally have reservations available 2 weeks out. My party and I arrived 10mins earlier than our reservation time. We were told they are preparing our table and we were seated right on the dot at our reservation time. You'll find yourself transported back to old Beijing as soon as you walk into the restaurant while the traditional decor provides a comfortable and immersive dining experience. They have a good amount of selections on the menu highlighting an array of traditional Beijing cuisine dishes. The Peking duck was definitely the highlight of our meal. The duck was roasted to perfection with super crispy skin. The meat was a little under seasoned in my opinion but it was just right when paired with the sauce, cucumber and scallions. Each wrap was separated with a piece of wax paper which made it so much easier to pull them apart. Another dish we really liked was the rice in lobster broth. The broth was very aromatic as soon as it was brought to our table. I love the fact they crisped up the rice before boiling it in the broth so that it soaks up the broth while maintaining its texture. It was very well seasoned and the broth wasn't too thick where it'll be too filling. The stir fried sliced fish was also one of our favorite. It was perfectly fried and it didn't lose its crispiness even though it was tossed in their well balanced sweet and sour sauce. The seafood vermicelli was very tasty and I love that I was topped with fish roe which gave it different layers of texture. Some of the dishes, although were still ok but fell a bit short on flavors. The litchi shrimp balls sounded interesting with a spectacular presentation. However, it was only a shrimp ball made to look like a lychee. It wasn't as crispy as I would like and it would be nice if they actually made a lychee inspired dipping sauce to go with it. The balsamic vinegar sauce that paired with the hairtail was a bit watery and it would be nice if it was a little thicker so that the roll can be coated with it. Overall, I think the dishes are solid. The price is reasonable and I was surprised by the large portion size. Our server also made our dining experiences so much more enjoyable as he was very attentive, friendly, professional, and did a great job with explaining each dish to us. This restaurant deserves a solid 4.5 stars and I would love to go back to try out other dishes they have to offer.

A phenomenal banquet we had here on this 7th day of everyone's birthday on this Year of the Dragon. Cozy and well decorated was the private room. Impeccable was the service. Jaw dropping presentations. Exciting and delicious was course after course. A few of my personal favorites out of the twenty courses were their Peking Duck, especially the skin with caviar, Spicy Lobster, Smoked Pig Knuckles, Royal Style BBQ Lamb, and, Sticky Rice with Pork & Sausage covered with Squid Ink. It's lovely to have selected and invited my family and friends in New York to this spectacular evening. Without a doubt I'll be back many times over! CHEERS!

Nice service. The waiter explained how to eat the duck in detail and how their ducks are different from others. As a person who grew up in Beijing it's a great pleasure to find a place that can satisfy my craving for Peking duck.

Eating here makes me miss my home in Beijing!! The traditional and modern Chinese decor (lanterns, hutongs, gates, old stamps, etc) really provides an immersive environment while you dine on delicious Beijing dishes. I personally loved the spicy boiled beef (ๆฐด็ ฎ็่) and the eggplant (้ฃๅนด็งๅคฉ็่ๅญ). The beef was tender and submerged into a spicy, garlicy, and aromatic broth with sprouts. The eggplant was thinly sliced, fried with a light batter, and glazed with a sweet sauce, so you get a bite of soft vs crunch and savory vs sweet. The duck (็ค้ธญๅ จๅฅ) was very solid for NYC, but still couldn't compare to ones back in Beijing. Love how they do it the traditional style where they slice the duck at table-side. With a party of 4, we opted for the full on set, but there is half duck option. It was my first time trying crispy duck skin topped with duck caviar. I was surprised at how the umami flavors blended but wish the skin was crispier. I appreciated how the wraps were thin and chewy. The mapo tofu with sea cucumber (้บปๅฉ่ฑ่ ๆตทๅ) was pretty solid. The appetizer combo (ๅไบฌๅณ้) allowed us to sample the Beijing classics (bean curd puff ็ค้บธ, soy sauce okra, pork slices, and mustard cabbage). While I wanted to order my childhood favorites for dessert, I tried the yogurt (for free) after checking in yelp! Although the texture was kinda like a thin Greek yogurt, the osmanthus honey makes it more refreshing. The service here is *amazing.* I've heard there are long waits, but there are signs at the door that advertise they will give you extra drink/appetizer if you wait over 60 and 90 mins, respectively. My wait was reasonable on a weekend night. Staff were very polite and friendly, and will provide demonstrations of how to enjoy the duck. Our servicer gave us an extra yogurt!
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is within the Tangram mall.
It's relatively spacious. The Peking duck was good. The fire squid ink rice was not bad. My favorite was the cold dumplings. The service was solid. I will come again to try other dishes.

Born and raised Beijinger, when I heard this place first opened I was so excited. Finally had a chance to come with my husband and 2 years old. We ordered- Peking duck (half) it was solid. 8/10. The texture was very well balanced with good amount of fat but not overly oily. Loved that the wrap was paper thin with the layers in between to avoid them sticking together. Nice details. My husband liked the one from Dadong Bryant Park more, but I like this from Juqi. Very authentic. Also loved they gave you option to get the soup. Exactly how it was done back home.- Zhajiang noodle. 10/10 Very authentic.- the cumin lamb. Very fancy presentation with great flavor. 10/10z my husband's favorite - Yogurt. Authentic exactly the one I had growing up.- Tu'er Ye mash photato. 6/10 order for photo ops.- Pepper beef. 7/10 it came out lukewarm but flavor was as good.$$$ we spent $210 incl. tax for 2 adults and one toddler (no drinks)

Be the first to ReplyThis place is right in the center of Tangram mall.
The locations and ambience is very cute. The food was also amazing, definitely try their shredded potato. And their Peking duck. It's a accurate representation of how Peking duck is.

Wow! I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this place, although it was very expensive. We ordered the Peking duck, charcoal fried rice, royal style BBQ lamb, lucky bag, yogurt, and braised pork ball. Peking duck: Yum! Although I think it was very pricey, the visuals were really nice and I like the toppings that came with it. The soup that came with it was also very tasty. Charcoal fried rice: Very unique and pretty presentation. The taste was decent, maybe needed a bit more flavor. BBQ lamb: My favorite dish of the night! Although it is pricey, the taste was very good. Lucky Bag: Very pretty. The taste was very unique. I enjoyed this dish. Pork ball: tasty, but too expensive for one ballYogurt: whatever was on top of the yogurt was really good. Overall, the dishes were all visually very satisfying. I would recommend to get the royal style BBQ lamb. Service was fine. I would definitely come back to try some other dishes.

Be the first to ReplyCame here after seeing videos on Instagram and like most
Came here after seeing videos on Instagram and like most Instagram places, it ended up being more focused on looks than actual flavour. We came on a Wednesday night and it was busy but we were seated without much wait. The servers were slow to bring water and utensils to the table. My friends, who were not Asian, came and said it was incredibly difficulty to order and I can see why. The menus is almost entirely in Chinese and I personally can't read Chinese but can speak Mandarin so I asked for some help with the menu at the server was very obviously annoyed. We ordered the duck which was cut in front of us, displayed and plated beautifully but the duck was very dry and tasteless. The duck bone soup was extremely peppery. We got the mashed potatoes with mayo and we were extremely surprised that it was served cold. Chunks of mashed potatoes in thick mayo was very unappetizing. The fried intestines were honestly the best part of the meal. Nicely seasoned with a good level of spice. The flaming rice was fun to watch but it was super hot on the outside and Luke warm on the inside. Fun to look at but nothing particularly special. Overall it all looks amazing but I would not go back again for the actual flavors.
Be the first to ReplyFancy set up but average taste, not the flavors I liked.
Feels less salty but I had to drink a lot of water while eating here. Friendly staff and nice decor. Pricey overall. Make a reservation before you go! They get pretty packed. Good to try once but I probably won't be going back. Fire squid ink fired rice looked cool but tasted meh. Cumin stir fried lamb was good. Food was more like 2.5 stars for me, 3 stars for the service and presentation.

It is a positive experience with the taste and quality of the food, but felt that the portion sizes were too small for the price I paid. However, the service is good. Friendly staff and attentive service with minor drawback. Overall a enjoyable dining and dรฉcor was pretty fitting with the culture. It is worth considering another visit for possible return.

We heard about this place from a friend and read about it in NYTimes. With all the positive reviews in mind, I decided to take my family here to try it out. Oh yes, it was a great experience! As someone who came from Beijing originally, I hold a high standard for Peking Duck and Juqi's duck totally met my expectations - crispy on the outside and juicy inside, with a fancy twist (caviar) on top The Zhajiang noodles, kongpao chicken, and pork and chive dumplings were quite tasty too. The waitresses were quite attentive and brought us home-style steamed eggs (free) for my little ones to enjoy. We will certainly come back here and recommend it to our friends!

Food was so so, but the service was great. If you order the Beijing Peking duck, they will make a soup out of the bones which was quite nice. You get to enjoy 2 dishes from the duck alone. The chicken wasn't really spicy, I guess because this is a Beijing place vs Szechuan.

Never had food at Tangram mall but parking was easy at the parking garage in the basement, Flushing has been a nightmare for parking but this garage makes things easier. The food overall was not bad but I'll be talking about the Peking duck. Obviously it's not better than the duck in Beijing but it didn't make me feel like it was a complete waste of $$$ and was pretty good. I'm more used to the duck at Peking Duck House in Chinatown and this tasted more authentic than that for sure... any time you need to drown it in the sauce, you know that's a problem as this should be eaten for the flavor alone. A lot of dishes had spice in it which hit well especially the fried fish and the lamb. Other than that I felt all the other dishes were solid, we had a lo mai gai that they set aflame which was kinda silly and it didn't even taste that good. I think overall this place is worth trying but it's pricey and I feel like it won't cater to every person.
