Not as impressive as i thought it would be
Food was OK, service is slow, and there is a lack of attention to detail. The food was OK, nothing amazing. Cocktails were so watered down that all I could taste were artificial flavors in them so a little disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyTasting menu birthday extravaganza
We booked in on July 11th during the heatwave for the 5 course tasting menu. (One for a carnivore and one for a pescatarian) We were warmly greeted on arrival. The food was absolutely perfect. If anything, there was too much of it! I've had tasting menus in many places but at Kanishka I really struggled to finish there was so much of it, but it was all delicious. The staff were very attentive but discreet and only appeared at table when necessary. Our visit lasted two hours from arrival with a course arriving every 15 minutes. The restaurant was forewarned in advance that it was my partner's birthday and provided a little something that really made her feel special. At no time did we feel rushed or pressured, everything came with a flourish and a smile. If you like quality Indian food Kanishka is definitely worth considering. I think £72 for a 5 course tasting menu in Mayfair is incredibly good value

When Atul cooks on TV, the presenters all make delightful comments about his food. So naturally, my wife & I we’re really looking forward to eating at one of Atul’s restaurants.. I ordered a large mixed grill that came as just 8 small pieces at I think over £55! The butter chicken was in my opinion not what Asian families would cook, it lacked flavour & the portion was small. My wife ordered veg as a starter & main & had similar thoughts to the lack of flavours too. I also had a beer & my wife had a cocktail but avoided the desert. I didn’t expect this meal to be cheap or reasonably priced but £178? I felt conned to say the least & disappointed because I was really expecting this to be the best meal away from home. I took 5 pieces of the mixed grill home for my youngest son & he said if he had done a blindfold test, he would have easily chosen the mixed grill I had made instead of from Atul’s restaurant! I wouldn’t say don’t eat there, please try for yourself. Unfortunately, it’s not for me & once is enough for me. I’ll stick to going to the East End, Wembley , Birmingham & Leicester.
Be the first to ReplyAVOID - OVERRATED AND OVERPRICED
Overpriced, awful service, mediocre food. Kanishka had all sorts of “hype” surrounding it, and was a total let down. It took 15 minutes to even be attended to for our water preference. It was overly fancy and just not worth the time and money. AVOID

Very nice lunch had at this restaurant with my daughter. Visited during the heatwave and was lovely to walk into a clean, calm and cool haven where we were greeted and shown to our table. All 3 courses were delicious and the waiter was very attentive. Would definitely dine here again

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff in Kanishka especially charof who had taken care of us on that day. The food was cooked to perfection. I travel alot and go to many places to eat out but Kanishka is on top of my list, the service was 5 star no doubt. Most definitely I recommend, if you are looking to dine out and looking for quality Indian food and value for money then this is the place.

Booked online and received email confirmation. 90 mins later got a call telling me they didn't have space for my party!!! Wth is going on there?!? That was 20 mins before we were due to sit down for our meal. Shocking performance, hence the score

Fabulous food, really enjoyed it. An Indian restaurant at Heathrow Airport, so much better than your standard airport fast food places
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Overall Experience - Fantastic Food and Cocktails
A business lunch for four people, with some dietary requirements. Very well located just off Regent Street. The decor feels more American Diner than Indian, and the background music quite generic. It took some time for the waiting staff to warm up, and the service could have been more attentive. However, this didn't detract from the overall experience and, especially, the quality of food. I have never eaten such well cooked and flavoursome Indian food, and one of the first times I have asked for a takeaway box for the leftovers. The drinks selection was excellent and the quality and flavour of the cocktails superb. We didn't feel rushed throughout the meal and all our party agreed we would definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service but unremarkable food and no ‘buzz’
We’ve wanted to visit one of Atul’s restaurants for ages so when we were in London and on a bit of a west end shopping day, this seemed perfect for lunch. It’s located just off Regent Street and we’d pre-booked the set 3 course menu which looked great value at 30-something pounds. It’s a nice looking room. Quite smart and nicely decorated. Staff were attentive and well trained. Overall, I’d say service was very good ‘London style’ . Sadly, at 1pm we were only the second table in. Although other diners arrived later, it never got more than half full even though other restaurants nearby seemed busy. Portions were quite large and I’d say perfectly spiced -but - not particularly interesting. Flavours were similar one dish to the next and , frankly, I’m not sure it was much better than some restaurants in our home town of Newcastle. The desserts were disappointing. My wife’s ‘tart’like creation was really rather solid and difficult to eat. Great value, great service, great location - unremarkable food and no buzz (when we visit London , we like to feel the ‘buzz’).
Be the first to ReplyI went into Kanishka for a take away lunch
My beautiful food was packed in a box for me, every mouthful was delicious and plenty of it too - the service was very good and the staff could not have been more helpful - I'll be back

Delicious evening meal at Kanishka.
We decided on the 5 course Tasting menu and it did not disappoint.Five dishes prepared and presented by a Michelin rated chef in London for under £50 is extraordinary value.
The Chicken Tikka Pie was an interesting option on a very classic dish. The Grilled Salmon and Trio of Lamb were also very good.
Service was exemplary.
Would definitely return.
Fine Indian cuisine, overpriced
This is undoubtedly fine Indian cooking, but sauces are on the heavy, creamy side and not all the meat is succulent. Goat was chewy, lamb moderately so. Butter chicken was excellent but desserts were pretty, but uninspiring. Service professional but nothing special. Soft shell crab to start was spectacular, gourd for our vegetarian friend was unusual but not pleasant in any way. So to sum up, a rather mixed experience. And pricey to boot.
Be the first to ReplyRelaxed and delicious lunch
We spent a very relaxed couple of hours over the set price lunch here today.
It was hard to choose which dishes to try today, the menu was varied with vegetarian and vegan options. The food was delicious.
Staff were attentive. I would particularly commend Nick . We had not visited before and he explained the menu to us, for example, a two course set menu allows for a choice of starter or dessert along with the main. We could have shared one starter and one dessert between the two of us. Alternatively, you cam go for a third course and just pay the supplement- £6 I think.
Chef was an expert. The plates were attractively served and the hot dishes arrived hot. Everything prepared and cooked to perfection.
Timewise there was no pressure on us - I had thought that with a 1pm booking we might be encouraged to leave by 2.30/3pm in order to reset our table. This was not the case at all and very much appreciated by us.
The restaurant itself is light, airy and very attractive.
For those with mobility problems it’s worth knowing that the restaurant is over two floors, ground and basement, with toilets down a steep flight of stairs, in the basement.
Need to train staff well.
Their staff was busy chitchatting with each other, they didn’t had basic curtesy to ask about allergies, they seemed highly untrained. Staff didn’t stand to standards of a known restaurant in Mayfair I find this place very overhyped.

High standard indian food for a very reasonable price in the middle of London city. All in all a wonderful experience. We ordered the 2 for 60£ sharing menu and were definitely positively surprised by the amount of food, and the authentic flavours. Lovely service.
Be the first to ReplySadly disappointing
We have visited Kanishka before & although the interior is a bit random, a mix of diy/deco/industrial the food was fab, full of flavour & colour. Sadly this week was poor.. service was painful, the staff didn’t seem to read the room at all. We sat patiently & had to ask where are, are cocktails, randomly 2 glasses of champagne arrived with no explanation along with the cocktails, I thought there must of been a mixup but didn’t want to confuse the situation anymore, my cocktail was cleared away without me finishing it, this meant we didn’t order any wine with the meal. The starters arrived & were amazing, Tikka pie & Tofu stuffed gourd. A long wait for the mains meant we sat & watched other dinners looking abandoned, staring around the room wandering when their plates might be cleared. The mains arrived, not hot but we just wanted to eat & go at this point. We decided to be patient again & see if desert would be prompt, we did have to chase the menu again. The deserts were lovely & faultless. Individually each member of staff that came to our table was polite but collectively it was a mess. We’ve ordered 3/4 takeaways from this during lockdown & they have been so, so memorable. My husband apologised to me for the experience.
Be the first to Replydifferent but great
I went a couple of weeks ago with a couple of friends. The restaurant itself is something to behold: I’m not quite sure how to describe it, lots of mirrors, modern ceiling that is in keeping with the almost Art Deco theme…
We went on a deal so ate from the set menu. We intentionally all had something different, plus sides of ride, Dahl onion Bhatji.
We had, for starters: baked mackerel, potato and peas tiki, and grilled prawns. For the main: corn fed chicken, halibut and the mixed grill.
We were all immensely happy with the food. Everything was perfect. I can’t give you any faults because there weren’t any, except for the fact that I couldn’t eat everything.
Delicious lunch
We had the set menu lunch - every dish was delicious and the service perfect - attentive but discreet. We will certainly return.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous food and service
We went for lunch on Thursday and had the set menu. The starters ( chicken & fish) and main courses ( hake & chicken) were delicious. The house white wine was a great choice. We had desserts which were beautifully presented but 2 courses would have been enough. Pravin & the Kanishka team deserve much praise for the perfect food and service provided. We had waited a long time to visit London and enjoy the Kanishka experience and we were not disappointed.
