This place is about as iconic as it gets when it comes to NYC and the quality of the meat lives up to the hype. The workers are constantly working and they do it while having genuine conversations with you. The pickles are fantastic and the classic pastrami is fantastic. The prices are a bit outrageous but you are paying for the iconic name as well.

If I could only go to one restaurant in NYC, I'm running to Katz's, hands down. The meat was so tender, warm, amazing balance with light mustard on rye bread. Simple yet the best. The service was unique as you use the ticket to order. I went on Tuesday around noon so barely waited in line. Inside is bigger than you'd expect to see from the outside, cozy and welcoming from kind workers.

The food is excellent! Be prepared for the long lines and unique way that one orders if you don't elect to sit in their small service section. My favorite is either the pastrami or corn beef sandwiches! The best in NY!

All I can say is that this place was amazing! I was scared it might be "touristy", but it was as authentic as could be. And ~$30 for a sandwich was a bargain, with the amount of meat that's on it.

Been going there since the 70's probably 2 or 3 times a year. Moved out of manhattan about 6 years ago. Been back today and everything looks the same, smells the same all be it that lines are much longer. I'd say I remember the way it used to taste and feel in your mouth. Went today and I can honestly say, the service was terrific but the food was really off. Brisket was dry, I was amazed as they are on steam tables. What the heck happened to this brisket???? Other 1/2 was a Reuben, kraut wasn't sour at all! Pastrami was ok but not knock your socks off as I am used to from years previous. Sadly I'm never going back after this. I can't pay $38 bucks for a 1/2 ass sandwich. Tourists won't no the damn difference and will for sure believe the hype, as for me, I remember what it should taste like. Sad but at my age it's a rare thing to indulge in such fatty foods. I feel like I wasted my cheat day on dried brisket and a sub par somewhat gelatinous pastrami with screwy kraut.

Great sandwich an iconic place must visit if you in New York!
Be the first to ReplyThe pastrami sandwiches here are to die for.
.... I was never a fan of pastrami sandwiches but oh my god coming here had my taste buds budding cause wow! The workers cutting the meat and making the sandwiches were great as they kept giving samples of the pastrami while waiting. The line gets very long and it gets crowded inside so finding a table may be tough. Aside from how busy it gets, this place is a great eat!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing sandwich! The corn beef was so tender and juicy.
I love the combination with mustard and cabbages. The line can pick up pretty quickly starting from 8pm. Though the operation is more efficient than before, there could still be a wait at the counter. I love the environment which feels like a neighborhood sandwich shop but just a bit larger. There is no pressure to fit into the bourgeoisie of New York LES, but just relax and enjoy the sandwich whatever way you like.

Good & Pricy Jewish Deli Meal of Meats Knish's Franks salamis and soup. Parking sucks but you often get lucky depending on the time of your visit. Better than the Brooklyn location. P.S.- don't misplace your ticket upon entry or they act like your trying to steal something.

Amazing food! Pastrami was like butter - warm, juicy, perfect. The cheese they put on sandwiches is melted and poured onto the meat.Worth the trip from wherever you are at.

It's a classic. A must stop landmark to satisfy meat eaters and sandwich lovers. I usually get the pastrami but wanted to try the brisket and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend if you want an alternative to the pastrami. The line today was short. I came during the afternoon at 1pm on a Thursday. Waited 10 minutes and I was putting in my order in no time. Yes, their prices have increased over the years, but what's the price to pay for a taste of history. This place has been in business since 1888! Highly recommend!

I have never had such dry, tasteless, tough pastrami in my life, and I'm 76 and lived in NY, NJ, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, and have eaten at many fantastic delis in my life including Katz's in NYC...this stuff was like shoe leather...the rye bread was awful...no taste of rye, bland and seedless...the hit dogs and knockwurst were similar...no flavor, not a hint of a good beef and garlic hot dog...nathan's hot dogs and boar's head knockwurst from the grocery store are far better...
Be the first to ReplyIt's great it's a legendary and yeah the food is great.
And I am a lovely African-American woman who grew up in the Jewish neighborhood and every time I come to New York Katz is my first stop whether I come in and dine or I order it's not worth coming to New York with out going to Katz deli!

Had to try Katz after all the hype! This review is for a pickup order experience. Tbh I had never had pastrami before and was nervous to try it so I got the pastrami sandwich. I really liked it and the mustard but it still seemed like it was missing something for me. The sandwiches were big but I would say it's enough for one person if you don't get any sides. We got steak fries which were okay. I liked the sour pickles a lot. Overall, the meat was pretty good and the mustard was a nice complement. I don't know if this would be my go to spot because of the price but the food was decent.
Be the first to ReplyPastrami was the best sandwich I've had hands down.
May be one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Got the whole sandwich and could barely finish half of it. Service was fun, they told everyone to try pastrami and they were right. Fun atmosphere, very busy but kept to their roots. I will go here every time I visit NY.
Be the first to ReplyKatz's is a classic for a reason.
Consistently great. They reconfigured their seating, which make finding seat's easier.

Big portions. Definitely would return. We ordered the Reubens but split it between two of us.
