KazuNori: The Original Hand Roll Bar New York Reviews from The Last Year
I am obsessed with this restaurant.
The quality is insane. I went to Japan recently and their sushi is one the same level as Japan's in terms of quality. Best sushi and hand rolls in the city for sure! Love the staff and how the restaurant operates. Tip is included which is awesome.
Simple yet super delicious.
Crunchy seaweed, warm slightly sweet sushi rice, with delicious soft super fresh fish makes for such a great meal. Highly recommend this place. Food, quality, and price is all on point. Also love that tip is included in the price.
Probably my favorite place to eat in the city period.
From their differently scented soap (unscented for before you eat and scented for after) to the drinks and food - I give 10/10! I wouldn't go in groups though because you sit almost "bar side" style as you're served each roll. I personally like the toro, salmon best followed by yellowtail! The lobster, bay scallop, and crab are delicious too, but the crab and lobster have a bit of mayo/cream flavors mixed in that can be a tad heavier! Salmon sashimi is fine, but I'd get another salmon roll over it because the rice is so good! THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO! Also incredibly priced
The most beautiful takeout I've ever had.
There was already a line out the door at 530PM and I couldn't wait for dinner, so I got the rolls for takeout. Even as takeout, this is some of the best sushi I've had. The care by which the food is made and the blend of flavors is just first rate. I would definitely go back and would even wait in line for the hand rolls next time if I can.

Ordered there to go to eat at home out of the heat and it just delivers. Fast and on time.

This is a go-to for my mom when she visits! It's a chain (have also been to the one in LA) but the fish quality is really good and fresh, the nori is warm and crisp, and the price is SO reasonable. Easy, fun dinner for two to grab 4-5 hand rolls and a sake.

We got to the restaurant ~6:30 and waited ~30-40 minutes, but luckily the line moved quickly - as most customers dined for 30-45 minutes. There's ample seating as there's two large areas with counter seating - perfect for a date night or even a solo date! We got the 6 roll sets and my favorite in order were: 1) scallop, 2) yellowtail, 3) crab, 4) lobster, 5) salmon, 6) toro. This is the first time I've been impressed by how tasty the sushi rice was! I was also surprised at how light the scallop, crab, and lobster hand rolls were despite being some type of mayonnaise base - they were all so delicious!
Was soooo happy to be here today.
I went by myself for lunch since I had been to the union square location, I wanted to check out the original Nomad location. It's much bigger in comparison. I did the 6 hand rolls and was surprisingly full. My favorites were the bay scallops and lobster but I really did love each hand roll. I wish I had room for more. The service was very excellent and the employees were so friendly. I was very pleased. The seafood is fresh and tasteful. Excited to come back

The wait was a bit long, about 30 minutes, probably would have been better to call ahead and ask how long the wait was. The place is very clean, it's all at the counter so you can see the hand rolls made right in front of you. The rolls came out pretty quickly. The pricing is also very reasonable, and surprisingly this was a no tip institution! I got the 6 hand roll set menu. My rating: 1. Bay scallop: my personal favorite, very creamy, slightly sweet, doesn't need additional soy sauce. I would love to stuff my face with the scallop! 2. Salmon: a close second because of the smoothness of the texture and sweetness. 3. Lobster: this really reminded me of main lobster rolls, sight sweetness and the meat wasn't rubbery! 4. Crab: this was also like a crab cake in my opinion, and the meat was sweet and flaky. 5. Yellowtail: I don't remember anything particular about this roll, so it was prob mid for me. 6. Toro: wasn't very flavorful, but expect from plain tuna, definitely needed the soy sauce Bathroom was clean with paper towels!
My second time visiting KazuNori and I think I have a new
My second time visiting KazuNori and I think I have a new found appreciation for this restaurant. Since I've been here before, I have a better idea of which rolls I would like. Learning from my past experience, I skipped the preset rolls and opted for a la carte. I ordered toro that I enjoyed last time and decided to try some new rolls too. I stuck to the fish and skipped the scallop, crab, and lobster (those had an extra sauce that I ended up not enjoying last time). The fish was fresh and I love the wasabi. My favorite was the toro and salmon. I also tried sea bream which was not chopped up finely but in actual pieces and monk fish liver. The monk fish liver was pretty good too! I like the fatty flavor. Service was good despite how busy the restaurant was during lunch time. There was a long line out the door! Last time, I felt like the experience was a little rushed but this time (although the meal took the same amount of time) I really appreciated how fast and efficient everything was. It's not the right restaurant to just sit and linger, it's more of an eat and go experience. And there's nothing wrong with that, just what you're looking for in your dining experience. It was perfect for me that day as I was looking for a quick meal! I'm still not a big fan of how close the seats are to each other but I can appreciate the concept more than before. Overall: the fish is definitely fresh and delicious. If you're not a big fan of mayo flavors skip the scallop, crab, and lobster but the other fish are good! I'll say it's a perfect place to solo dine or grab a meal under 30 mins.

Absolutely love this place! The food, the price, the service and the NO TIPS policy. The only thing that would make it absolutely perfect, would be to accept reservations or increase number of seats!

Totally understand why the lie is so long price is good and food is great. It serves the of the best sushi rice place with the best value. No tip is required but the service is top notch. It's loud and full of youth energy. Expect a line the outside but if it's not, then please get in and try it.

I've heard amazing things about this place, so I decided to visit when I was in the area. There was a line when I went around 1:30, but the line moved pretty quickly (max 15min wait). Ambiance was very casual-- good to come for a solo meal or with a friend. I got the 4 piece roll set and wow-- the sashimi inside the rolls were some of the best I've had this year. The rolls just melt in your mouth! So so good. I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in NY!
Great value for what you get.
There's no reservations so be prepared to wait in line. You're better off coming with a smaller group, my party was big at 6 and several smaller groups got seated before us and our total wait time was probably about 45 min. Our chef was giving us our rolls a little too quickly so I felt rushed.
A decent hand roll spot in the city, everything was tasty.
The prices were fair, although the service could be a little bit better. Would give it a try again.
best hand rolls!
this place is always a winner for me. Ive eaten here multiple times and it has always been excellent. The hand rolls are made fresh one roll at a time , literally just before serving to ensure the nori is still crisp while eating. There's usually a long line before entering but there is limited bar seating, and it does go by fast.
Affordable and best sushi hand rolls in NoMad NYC.
One of my favorite spot that I would go every time visiting NYC. The wait is usually pretty long if you have a big group, usually came here by myself or with a friend of mine. I got the set menu 4-handroll for $23, such a deal!! They didn't have sea bream so changed it with salmon. My favorite is Toro handroll such high quality! Staffs are friendly and came check on us if everything is okay! Would recommend coming here!!

If you're looking for a quick lunch, KazuNori is worth the stop. Decently priced, quick service & great quality hand rolls make it worth the trip. Though the resto looks small, don't be fooled - there are 2 sushi counters with bar seats so the place accommodates more than y'all think!
Takeout is delicious
I used takeout twice. Unfortunately, I didn't try the hand rolls. The takeout is thin and tastes almost the same as the sushi you eat in Japan, and it's delicious. There was a line in front of the store every evening, so it might be best to go earlier. For takeout, you can order directly at the counter and wait 10 minutes to get your food home. It's right in front of the subway station, so it's perfect for after a baseball game (after 10pm).
The staffs were friendly.
This place gets very busy, good quality hand roll wrapped in nori with the perfect amount of rice and filling. We have to filled out the form from the wall and they have a mini pencil to check off what you would like to eat. We ordered 6-hand roll set $34 which includes: Toro, Yellowtail, Bay Scallop, Salmon, Crab and Lobster hand roll. Would recommend trying here. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5

KazuNori is a must visit if you want affordable, good
KazuNori is a must visit if you want affordable, good quality hand rolls! This is my second time coming here and I ordered the 5 hand roll set and split their akimo handroll and sea bass sashimi on special. The restaurant is nicely lit, and bar only so you can watch them make the hand rolls which is a cool experience. My only issue was, I thought the chef was a bit heavy handed on the rice so I had to take out some from each hand-roll myself during the meal. The best part of this whole experience was that there is no tipping allowed! I wish more places would implement this culture.

Had the best introverted time at KazuNori! I finally arrived in NYC after a 5 hour flight and 1.5 hours Uber to my hotel. After checking in and dropping off my stuff, I was starving! Thankfully, this place was a 3 minute walk away. I walked in and was immediately seated as a party of 1 in the corner of their bar seating. Awesome ambience with low light for intimacy with yourself or your companion. I ordered their 6 hand roll set for $34 and it was well worth the money. The chef goes at your pace, but it's best to each hand roll asap as it's so warm because of fresh rice. Each roll was filling and amazing to finish; my personal favorite was the bay scallop roll. I was done within 15-20 minutes, and KazuNori checked off all the boxes from speed, quality of customer service, and great food quality. Would come here again and definitely recommend!
My parter and I constantly crave KazuNori! We always order
My parter and I constantly crave KazuNori! We always order the Toro, salmon, lobster, and scallop. Our stay isn't usually long, as they're so fast and efficient (which we appreciate) The space is intimate and dimly lit which could make for a fun first date! Seeing the hand rolls being made in front of you is such a nice visual stim - 11/10 have already recommended this place to everyone!!!!!

I got in pretty quick because I was dining alone but the line seemed to move quickly for others with larger parties. The rolls are amazing. Super fresh proteins. Simple ingredients that are well executed. Got the 6 roll set of Toro, Yellowtail, Salmon, Scallop, Crab and Lobster and added a Shrimp. Loved them all but especially the Scallop, Shrimp and Toro

Amazing hand rolls but sometimes a very long wait! Don't hesitate to go this spot is amazing! Energetic and lovely ambiance!
A gem for sushi handrolls served at bar seats.
Minimalist, yet welcoming decor for a casual dining experience where you can watch chefs craft each handroll so that you can eat them freshly made. The menu is short, but greatly focuses on quality and freshness. Each handroll has perfectly seasoned rice and nori is crisp as they make it when you're ready to eat the next one, never before. The eel handroll is my favorite. What sets Kazunori apart in NYC is not just the food, but its value. Pricing is reasonable, especially considering the high quality ingredients and the price includes tips. Service is very efficient; they are friendly and fast to ensure an enjoyable meal. Definitely a must visit in NYC
KazuNori has stayed consistent with their quality after all
KazuNori has stayed consistent with their quality after all these years and continues to be one of my favorite places! They do not take reservations so you can expect to wait at busy meal times. It is all counter seating and a good spot for a quick meal. Recently I got the 6 hand roll set which consisted of Toro Hand Roll, Yellowtail Hand Roll, Salmon Hand Roll, Bay Scallop Hand Roll, Crab Hand Roll, and Lobster Hand Roll and they are all delicious! They make it on the spot so the seaweed is crisp, and the fish is fresh and nicely flavored.

Came here on a Tuesday for a quick dinner since it's been on a list of places to check out. Arrived around 7:30 and there was a line going out the door. The wait itself wasn't horrible, probably waited 20 min on line. It helped that the weather wasn't bad. While on line someone came out and informed us that we were limited to one piece of salmon and that cucumbers were out. Interesting that they ran out of ingredients during peak dinner.. regardless, I still stayed for dinner since there were many other options. Once you get to the front of the line you fill out a form on what you want. I got the four piece set which had one of the pieces swapped out because they were out. Seating was all on high stools, something to keep in mind if you're with someone who can't sit on one of these chairs. Food itself was pretty good, fresh ingredients and the rice was warm, soft with just the right amount of stickiness. I like how you can choose to eat just enough for your budget or if you wanted something not too filling for a snack. I do wish that there were more garnishes inside the hand roll, but that might just be a personal preference since I feel like garnishes make each bite a little.more interesting. Overall I'm glad I got this crossed off my list but there are so many other similar places in NYC to check out.

WE LOVE KAZUNORI!!! Sometimes there is a wait, but it's worth it. They are quick and have a small, but delicious menu. Everything we've tried is delicious. We went 2x in one NYC trip because it's that good. The sushi rice and seaweed is very fresh. My faves are the eel hand roll, scallop hand roll, and cucumber hand roll. The staff is wonderful and friendly. We love it here!!!
Food is great.
You can get 4 hands rolls for a little over $20 and tipping is included in the total price you pay. Only thing is there's usually a long wait outside and no reservations.
Too hand roll!
We had a nice lunch in this restaurant We waited for 20 minutes but with no regrets Correct prices and very good hand roll sushi fresh ! To be tested
Great Solo Sushi spot
I’ve been coming here for years. Great spot of sushi solo or with a friend. Not a great spot for groups all seating is at the bar. Fish is generally pretty fresh. Service is relatively consistent although not as attentive as it was before 2020.
The service here is pretty good, they don't do tips at this
The service here is pretty good, they don't do tips at this location. The line can get long but I'd say move pretty quickly. Ideally for two people per party just the way that it's all bar seating. The rolls come out quick and the service is short and sweet. The hand rolls were yummy I would probably come again but maybe try the to go box. The fish was fresh, the hand roll is easy to eat because they don't press the rice down (not overdoing the rice). For the hamachi roll they had chopped up scallion which made it really tasty. The ambiance is pretty dark. The sushi chef is attentive and times making the roll with how fast you're eating.

KazuNori was a great experience! I came to grab dinner with a friend on a Monday night. I arrived at 6:30 PM and the line was still inside the building, but the line was quickly getting longer around 7 PM. You come in, mark what you want on the menu, and hand your menu over when seated. You'll be seated at a bar area and can watch them make the hand rolls! This place also seems good for solo diners and travelers! Small note: they have hooks along the wall for jackets/coats and small hooks underneath the bar for bags. I ordered the preset menu of 4 hand rolls and it was a perfect amount for me! The chefs keep an eye on you and make your next one as you finish up the current roll. It's a great price for what you get, especially considering how fresh the proteins are and how attentive the service is. Lastly, KazuNori is a no-tip establishment which is nice, simply because I don't have to calculate a tip at the end of a meal. I would definitely come back here and highly recommend it!
I knew that my triumphant return to NYC must include at
I knew that my triumphant return to NYC must include at least one trip to Kazunori. I love love this temaki chain and I need them to open one in NorCal because I will be there daily. No stranger to the quality and the taste of Kazunori so we were definitely hype. The line was long but moving steadily. The other guests around us could stand to be more patient though. Case in point we were at the front of the line but we were skipped because they had a 2 seater instead of 3, so we were communicated that we will be sitting next. The 2 girls behind us tried to shove us out of the way to launch themselves forward for no reason which was so incredibly awkward like who is raising this generation. We get seated and unfortunately they soon follow sitting next to us so it's a big yuck but whatever I'm going to get my temaki on. We were trying to decide if we wanted to get the monk fish liver hand roll or not because it's kind of not something I try often so wasn't sure how to feel about it. Then we noticed the Nozie combo which is a self combo so I said let me try - then all my friends said ok let us get the same thing . I noticed the two snob next to us returned their monk fish liver plate (not hand roll) so I'm like shoot! They also left after like 15 minutes of sitting down so not sure what was happening. Wondering if the Nozie will include it and if we would like it. One of my friend is a little bit more sensitive to different type of fish so was kind of worry there. But everything and I meant absolutely everything was perfection. No lie. 0 . I won't spoil what comes in the Nozie for you but you'll be impressed. Ok small spoiler this Nozie got the monk fish in it! So probably all Nozie will get at least one of the special of the day roll. The ankimo was amazing - perfectly balanced and sauced. Like ugh I think about it now. Like you taste something so damn beautiful it's going to stick with you. Also got free refill of my ice tea!! So good. Not sweet. Very nice matcha notes. Ok we are six rolls - each - and one of my friend and I was like hmmm k let's get another one so we both got another bay scallops. Chef kiss way to end a meal at Kazunori. Like I could have add another one I was full but it was soooo good. Service was good. Just one dude was a tiny rude because my friend ask for another chop stick and he didn't say anything but told someone else to get her a new chop stick vibe slightly off but it's fine. Our actual server was a nice sweet lady who gave me more ice tea so no complaints I am a Kazunori stan.
Seriously this is THE BEST tasting sushi I've ever had.
The wait outside is ridiculous. BUT I will say that I was thinking about the flavors for like two days. AND I refused to order sushi from anywhere else because I didn't want to ruin the memory. lol!! Soooo ya wait on the line, enjoy and savor the flavors, just have a snack and wear comfy shoes because you will wait for 1 hour outside. The warm rice, the fresh fish, the flavors infused....Totally delicious!
Highly recommend. Just go!
Excellent, excellent food. Set menu of six handrolls with Toro my personal favourite. Unpretentious vibe. Charming staff. Joy.
Fantastic concept
Definitely worth a visit! The hand-rolls are amazing and each one comes with a different type of seafood inside. Surprisingly quite filling. There are almost always queues to get in but they move quickly. A bit pricey but worth the experience!
Outstanding Japanese hand rolls!
This hand roll Japanese-style restaurant is fantastic! Highly recommended — very fresh seafood and very easy, quick, and pleasant experience. All seating is counter-style, so it’s easy to meet people. Nothing fancy, just good! Get the 6 rolls so you can taste a little of everything!
It's popular and a good place.
It's a fairly simple menu, but good. I've been there several times with almost a year's difference, but every time I've had to wait in line for at least 30 minutes. It's popular and a good place.
Recommend for good sushi in NY
The place is very nice and the staff is welcoming. We ate some of the best sushi of my life

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome
to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
