Went there for a dinner with a friend.
I got there at 5 and there was a short line, but we got seated pretty quickly luckily. It was my first time at a hand roll bar and the server said the 5 and 6 sets were the most popular choices, so we each got a 6 set. However, the server did not warn about the portion at all, they were 6 pretty sizable rolls. Half way through the course I realized I could not finish the rolls, and asked the server if I could take them to go. Maybe this is a well known fact in the hand roll world, but apparently they don't allow you to take them to go - you can only cancel the rest of the order, and they will charge you the a la carte price for what you've consumed, even though the items match with the 4 set. I felt this wasn't really fair. They knew it was our first time and we weren't familiar with the policy, but gave no warning before hand. And the server's attitude towards the whole thing was fairly arrogant. The food was fresh, scallop roll was delicious, and the price is affordable, but overall found the hype to be half worthy.

Pretty good deal for the money if somewhat bland and repetitive. Hand rolls are heavy on the rice and if they didn't tell me what type of fish it was i wouldn't really know. They have a good system of getting people in and out fairly quickly so the wait on line wasn't as bad as it looked. Definitely not the type of place you want to linger after you've eaten.

If you have ever been here then you are lucky, this place is small but to the point, a great dining experience. We had such a great time here, that after spending a day in the area, we needed to stop here again for a small bite before we left New York. Our visit for lunch we both opted for the 6 hand rolls, while for our second stop we picked a few rolls and had 3 or so. We also tried the daily special of sashimi, the Sea Bass. I think we both agreed we loved the Yellowtail, and everything else we tried was amazing as well. The best way to eat the hand roll, is fresh when it is still crispy and warm. I really appreciated the staff and how helpful they were. They don't accept tips here, but they are amazing and their service is beyond. When they gave us specialty rolls, they always told us the best way to enjoy our rolls. I will go out of my way to go back here again! Might even fly all the way to New York for fish this good, and service that is above and beyond.

Great place if you want to meet up with a friend but not have too long a meal. Given efficiency of concept, can have your 5 handrolls in 45m and be off with your night. Enjoyable to sit by the bar and watch chef make hand rolls.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and service are amazing.
Very unique NYC experience. Don't be deterred by the line it's goes quick and worth a little wait.
Be the first to Replyhand rolls are okay, sashimi isn't worth the price imo.
the menu selection is tiny and it's not super impressive nor awfully bad. service was slow the night i was there. it's very alright but i don't think i'd come back
Be the first to ReplyGreat rolls and loved the daily special the day I was there.
As usual bar service style good and fast. Best no fumbling to calculate tips. Everything included.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time here and I understand the hype now! Super quick
First time here and I understand the hype now! Super quick dinner and everything tasted so fresh. We had a party of 4 and stopped by the restaurant around 6:30 on a Friday and weren't waiting very long so I'd definitely try to beat the dinner rush. Parties of 1 and 2 got seated super quickly too. I see some people mentioning that the amount of fish per roll is small and that there's too much rice. While that is true, I do think the quality and freshness is better than your average place. Rolls add up if you're not ordering the combo. I was a bit hungry and felt like 6 was a good amount for me. You can always start with a smaller combo and add on more rolls until you're satisfied. Can't wait to go back!

As good as SoCal locations? Absolutely, the consistency they have on this chain is amazing, tiny variations from chef to chef on rice levels, but consistent enough where it doesn't change the experienceThe rice is always warm and compliments the crunchy nori perfect toy. Scallops are a must try here, a bit of creamy goodness and a pinch of wasabi makes it perfect!

Went to KazuNori Sunday afternoon slightly after it opened and there was already a line. It was about a 30 minute wait. I ordered The Noize along with the two specials and my friend ordered the 6 hand rolls with the two specials. Each hand roll came out pretty quick. Each piece tasted fresh. Would recommend 10/10.

What a cool place!! The line for this restaurant was out the door on a random Wednesday evening. There are only two bars with seating inside- no tables. Everyone sits at the bar and watched the chef make the hand rolls in front of them. I would recommend the set menu of 6 rolls which was filling enough for me, but you can also add individual extra rolls on top of that. Overall, not very pricey. It's a great deal for delicious sushi and a cool experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat sushi for great value.
It carries well and arrives so quickly for delivery.

The line was definitely intense but we did eventually get seated at the bar (about 45 minute wait on Tuesday right around 6:30). Service was fast and the food was good. It was a fun experience, but I would probably order fewer hand rolls next time. I ended up missing the variety that sugarfish offers. The no-reservation feature is a real downside.

Amazing spot to get some handrolls as their fish is really fresh at a reasonable price.Note that they don't take reservations so you'll usually have to wait. On a weekday, the wait is usually pretty minimal. On the weekends, expect at least a 30-45 minute wait unless you're the first round of seating. There's not a ton of seating as everyone sits around the bar, but it goes by pretty fast as the sushi chefs pace the rolls.Sitting at the bar, you're able to watch the sushi chefs make your handrolls right in front of you which is always fun. Since everyone's sitting at the bar, this is a great place to dine solo -- I've seen folks reading a book or watching tv during the meal which seems peaceful. I usually go with 5 rolls or 6 rolls (makes the most sense $$$-wise to stick to their set menus) and it's surprisingly super filling even though it doesn't look or feel like a lot. Suddenly, you'll have one roll left and be like damn, I'm actually really full now.My personal fave is probably the scallop roll because it's so creamy, but they're all good and it's definitely a personal preference!
Be the first to Replyokay so I love hand rolls, but this was so fun and chic.
Very limited menu, but oh so good. the rolls come out warm and perfect.I'm not sure if I'll be a "regular" there, but definitely the two times I have already gone have satisfied a deep craving 100%. Yumm!Great date night...

Very great for to go option!! We got 4 different types and we were able to easily pick up. It was a quick process and so so good!
Be the first to ReplySome of the best hand rolls I've ever eaten.
The sashimi was excellent. The freshness of everything is what stands out. The service also was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyA couple of my friends and I had always wanted to try some
A couple of my friends and I had always wanted to try some finer sushi/hand rolls in the city without breaking the bank, so KazuNori seemed like an ideal spot. The restaurant ambience is quite intimate, with candles and dimly lit overhead lights in a crowded bar setting; perfect for smaller groups or a date night.I got the Six Hand Roll set (Toro, Yellowtail, Salmon, Bay Scallop, Crab, Lobster) and NZ Sea Bream Hand Roll. Each roll was incredible; the fish was fresh, the nori was crispy, and the sushi rice was beautifully seasoned and flavorful. (My favorite part of the roll)KazuNori also has their service down to a science; they allocated enough time in between rolls that you can savor the previous roll and chat with others while still not making you wait too long until the next one. Each person in each party also received their roll at around the same time, which took away the awkwardness of having to wait for someone to get their roll to begin eating. The servers also did a great job of explaining the specials and rolls. For the price (no tipping!), KazuNori was a wonderful experience both in terms of the food itself and the service. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for quality handrolls at an affordable price.
Be the first to ReplyI have gone to Kazunori many times and it is the perfect
I have gone to Kazunori many times and it is the perfect lunch spot. I came at 11:45am on Sunday and there was already a long line outside. I would recommend coming a bit early to get the first seating at 12pm. I only had to wait an additional 30 - 45 minutes for the first wave of people to slowly finish eating. The prices are reasonable for the quality and amount of food. I always get the 5 piece or 6 piece. They also let you switch any of the rolls for a another roll except for Lobster. Definitely recommend you to try this place! Please note that they do not accept reservations.

Going to a hand roll bar was a fun evening experience to try. It was a very chic and classy environment and the service was great. Everyone was very friendly and very accommodating. As a first time, I'd recommend getting the 6 hand roll set to try as many varieties as possible. The only thing I would recommend is to bring your own hand sanitizer or hopefully the restaurant would provide some, however I would still recommend this spot!
Be the first to ReplyI would frequent Sugarfish and KazuNori a lot when I was
I would frequent Sugarfish and KazuNori a lot when I was living in California, so I'm so happy that the chain is still accessible over in the east coast. This is one of places that I crave pretty often. For this location and from my first experience in the east coast on Sunday 3/20/22, I arrived 15 minutes before opening hours and there already was a reasonable line. Once they opened, all the seats filled out and my party of 2 would be seated in the next batch of diners, so we were aware we would wait maybe another 30 minutes. We got sat after 45 minute of waiting- I didn't mind at all and I think it's well worth the wait. Since this is during post-pandemic times, they didn't have table seating so I believe if I counted correctly that the bar seated 20 patrons. I always have a great time here, everything on the menu is amazing. I think if you ever decide to go during opening hours on a weekend, possibly arriving 30 minutes before would be sufficient to land a seat right away.
Be the first to ReplyOrdered 5 rolls and some sashimi to share between 2 people
Ordered 5 rolls and some sashimi to share between 2 people for dinner delivery. Similar to sugarfish, the quality is pretty good, but not the very best of NYC (however in the rolls, the need for quality is a bit less, which is why I prefer kazunori rolls to sugarfish sushi). The price is a bit expensive, but with a good postmates coupon (we had a 50% off coupon that saved us $30), it's a worthwhile treat.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic place.
Food was delicious. We got the 6 roll cause it has great variety of different seafoods - scallop, lobster, salmon, crab and others
Be the first to ReplyThis place is so good! The line was quite long (~1.
5 hours) but it was a Friday evening and the weather was nice, so that just gave us some extra time to anticipate the yummy hand rolls we were about to eat.We tried the 6 hand roll special and they were all amazing. My favorites were the toro and the yellowtail (which are usually my two least favorite, go figure). Didn't love the milky cream sauce the scallop roll came in. We also got the albacore special and it was another favorite of mine! Maybe I like tuna after all?Our chef was the tall guy in the photo. He's been working here about 3 years and his dedication to his craft was awesome to watch. Almost as good as eating the hand rolls was watching his process for making them. He was quick and efficient but careful and detail oriented. He was also very kind and personable, and asked what our favorites were at the end (btw his fav is the shrimp which we didn't get, so try that one too!).Overall great experience. We were served quite quickly once seated, and were in and out in under an hour. Will come back! Thank you!!
Be the first to ReplyLine was very long but moved quickly enough.
We came at 9:30pm on a Friday & waited about an hour. Once seated, the rolls came fast and were in good portions. I got the 6 roll set and thought it wouldn't be enough but I was actually really full at the end! Overall the rolls were a bit underwhelming but a good food experience to try.
