We are regulars here and come almost every week.
It's our favorite place. I've been here more than 50 times and the service, quality, and experience is always so consistently good.
Be the first to ReplyFirst hand rolls ever.
Delicious. Would go back. Went simple. Just yellowtail and crab.

I've ordered a couple of times for delivery, thought I'd pop in and try the restaurant. It's a specialized hand roll restaurant, don't come here expecting an authentic sushi experience. You are provided with a menu and you just mark off items. There's basically just one big square bar you sit at. Minimalist approach, trendy. Hipster music. They take the warm rice approach which I first experienced with Nozawa decades ago, and it's obvious they've modeled the approach that Sugarfish takes (maybe this restaurant is just a Sugarfish offshoot?) considering I ordered the "Nozie" six roll set. Quite good! I think it's pretty good value and all liked all the rolls and I was pretty full. I went on a weekday at 3PM so no wait. As others have said weekends are packed. Worth a try.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance was great.
I went on a Wednesday night, and the place was full but no line really. The staff could have been more hospitable, like some other reviewers have noted. Overall the ambiance was great but I give the place 3 stars because the food. The fish was fresh but my god was the rice too vinegary. It got to the point by my 4th roll I had to unroll the roll to take out the rice. There was no option to ask for the chef to use less rice do to the nature and set up of the restaurant. I struggled Finish my sixth roll, and by the time I left the restaurant I was looking for something better to eat...there are a lot of great sushi spots near the Santa Monica pier itself...I'd pass on this one.

Clean decent and dining vibe, good food but needs to improve on hospitality. I really wish they had cut rolls, perhaps I will try it again in the future.

The food are just okay, the wait was bad you have to technically stand in line inside the restaurant. Most of the rolls have mayonnaise inside that's defiantly not the way japanese does.
Be the first to ReplyVery delicious! And a great deal.
Always love coming here. They don't take tips here but the guy said they get paid well. Well im happy for them lol

Really cute place, would recommend! My friends and I discovered this place from Tiktok and decided to come for a late lunch. We only ended up waiting for our table for ~10 mins (they mentioned they were just cleaning up our table). The prices were very affordable and the quality of food was good. The 6 handroll option seemed to be a lot at first, but it was a perfect size meal for lunch (though one of my friends was very full after the 5th one). Would recommend some sake with the handrolls (personal preference) though they do offer some non-alcoholic drink options as well. Will def be back here when in the area :)

Phenomenal service and great quality fish! I've never had a poor experience. Of course the wait could be very long but it is worth it! I enjoy that they pace your meal by serving the hand rolls one at a time so it makes the experience more enjoyable. My favorite is the yellow tail roll!!
Be the first to ReplyReally reasonable, fresh seafood rolls.
No frills, don't ask for any soups/ appetizer, they don't have any!
Be the first to ReplyThis place was small and cute.
They have a selection of hand roll options. I tried the 5 roll set menu and shared it with my bf. We were just getting a quick snack before heading home in traffic to kill extra time. We got the toro, yellowtail, scallop, crab, and lobster hand rolls. They were all pretty good. Nothing to crazy just a basic hand roll. It was our first time and the service was okay. All in all it seems like a place people go for a short time so there's no need to have extravagant service. Would go back to have a hand roll for sure.
Be the first to ReplySavored every bite.
I got the 16 piece with salmon sashimi to go. I do wish I could have ordered a bunch of hand rolls to go, but I understand why they don't do that
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a sit, eat and go spot right on the bar.
We come here monthly. All hand rolls are made with sushi, no substitutes and no soy rice paper. Only wasabi, ginger and soy sauce. No american style sushi rolls with all that extra sauce and rice. Rice is perfect: soft and warm with a hint of sweetness. Fish is fresh and melts in your mouth. Love the baked crab hand roll highly recommend. Anything you get here is amazing and honestly no less than 5 hand rolls because they are all amazing. Love the beer and sake too and good fast service.

It was an easy restaurant to go in and didn't require reservation. The place is pretty tight though, so if you're concerned about spacing from other customers, this might not be the place for you. We got the 6-roll set and tasted heaven with each roll. The seasoning for the rice had some sweetness to it that complimented the meat very well. It's hard to pick a best roll when all of them had so much flavor in each bite!
Be the first to ReplySushi Nozawa knows how to make fantastic food.
The handrolls and the environment at KazuNori are one of a kind. I've never been to a bar that served handrolls before. It was strange at first, but I get it now. Handrolls are best eaten immediately after being rolled. There is no quicker way to serve them than a bar... and the taste is nothing words can describe.

Amazing food!! And service! There was a long line but it moved fast. Highly highly recommend, best sushi I've ever had! It's also reasonably priced- must go! The hand rolls were fresh, they were warm yet crunchy and sweet/salty just the best flavors ever. My favorite was the toro :)

We waited for 10 minutes up front without anybody working there acknowledging our existence or even making eye contact, much less seating us. They didn't deserve our business--we went to North Italia around the corner instead and had an excellent meal with servers who cared we were there.
Be the first to ReplySuper cool spot right off the beach.
Their original hand rolls are Cruncy Seaweed wrap, good warm rice and fresh seafood that is hard to put down.

Finally was able to stop here for a midday snack! I've tried going for this location a couple of times before around dinner but the line was always too long for my liking. This time around we went around 3pm to try a couple of rolls each and ordered the salmon, yellowtail, crab, toro, and eel to share. Every roll was great with salmon being our favorite! The crab is great for sushi newbies as it's mixed with mayo. The eel was a bit disappointing as it seemed to have less filling than the other rolls and it was more sauce than fish.

kazunori is so good can't wait to go back to LA and go back to this place. the sushi was great, service was great. easy 5 stars from me

Great quality food and friendly service! Only gave 4 stars due to the slow service today. There was only one hand roll chef with a full restaurant to attend to. The location in DTLA is about half the size and they'll usually have 2 working at the same time during peak hours. Other than that, it's usually a great spot to get a quick lunch in. Gratuity is already included so just pay and you're out the door!

Entered the establishment was greeted with a stern sit down and sit together. My group and I were a bit confused as there was plenty of seating, but that's fine. We sat down made light of the attitude and looked over the menu. My friend tried to apologize as we mixed up or seating initially by talking to the person who seemed like the management and he ignored us completely. As we look over the menu, I noticed that there were some decent selection in hand rolls. Since I've been in ketosis for several months, I asked if they could make it without rice. He replied no, we don't do that here. I guessed maybe they had some things premade, as they were unable to do it. I asked and they said everything was made in front of us. Seriously, why can't you just make it without rice to accommodate dietary restrictions? He then what felt like a scoff, asked, "why don't you eat rice?" First of all that's none of your business, and secondly, I shouldn't have to explain to you why I have a dietary restriction. He then said "we can serve you sashimi." I noticed sashimi was significantly higher than the special with the hand rolls. Fine. My friends wanted to eat hand rolls, I'll order something. I then asked how many pieces are in the sashimi? They said that's not how it works. Excuse me? Lol, laughable. Sure, you don't serve sashimi in pieces. Ok maybe they weigh the sashimi? So that's what I asked and he said "yeah kind of..." Seemingly already looking clearly annoyed, he asked what I wanted, with two employees already in a bad mood, I decided that this restaurant did not deserve my patronage. My friend tipped for sitting down, and we left. They will absolutely never gave my business again. I know there is a shortage of people in the service industry, but if this is how you operate a business with this kind of customer service, I want nothing to do with it.

i had a great experience here except that they messed up my order. i ordered the 6-roll but the waiter gave me 5 and when i asked him for the 6th, he said i had ordered the 5. and then he came back a couple minutes later, apologizing and giving me a 6th and charging me for 5 (but the last roll was just a repeat). that being said, the food, ambiance, all of that is great. the green tea is spot on. despite the mistake, i would definitely come back again.
Be the first to ReplyBest hand rolls in LA! Always welcoming service.
Love how fresh the fish is any day of the week (keeping up with demand). Toro rolls are my favorite but tend to get 3-4 variety rolls. The salmon sashimi is really great also.
