I went a week ago with large party and the food was delicious. I decided to go back and was disappointed. Ordered same dish salmon in green curry and tasted nothing like fist time, curry wasn't even same color. Can't say I will try it again due to inconsistency of food

I would rate 4.87I'm knocking off a few points because the price was higher than my preference, buttt it was in Tribeca. So for all of those 3-4 stars that are complaining about portion size & price... welcome to NYC. I also feel a type of way that I was one of the only Asians in the restaurant.THAT SAID- this food is fire. You need to like hot/spicy food in order to like Lao food (from what I've gathered.)This was my first time eating Laotian food & it does not disappoint! Things I got with friends:- Crunchy Coconut Rice BallsSpicy Lime Leaf Sausage:-- this was very good! Def ask for more lettuce.- Lemongrass Chicken SausageRau-Rum, Lettuce & Sweet Peanut Sauce: Get this & add the sticky rice. OMFG. - Bamboo Grilled Ginger QuailHoney Ginger Glaze & Bang-Bang Sauce:-- Was only able to split with just one other friend. Barely an appetizer, but cooked so well!!- Smashed Green Papaya SaladGreen Market Cabbage:-- TBH, I could only have one bite. It is THAT spicy. I drank 3 full cups of water after & I really needed a cup of milk. Good luck.- Sticky Rice & SaucesSticky Rice with Bang-Bang & Eggplant Sauce:-- Very good! BUT, if you get it with #2 above- it is sooo good with the peanut sauce.- Yellowfin Tuna LaapYellowfin Tuna, Curried Shrimp Chips, Seared Foie Gras, Crispy Shallots & Toasted Rice:-- Think Asian Ceviche. Soooooo good. I highly, highly recommend.

It was a fun experience because the ambiance is nice (moody and scented) and the food is different with a lot of variety. My favorites were the pork spring rolls, sticky rice and eggplant sauce, ribs, and the curry noodles. Everything is on the saltier end, but it was OK paired with sticky rice.
Be the first to ReplyEpic food.
Bold flavors but not aggressively spicy, wide range of excellently prepared dishes. This place is going to be a new mainstay for when I'm visiting the city.

4.5 Great service, great food, good for family style dining Highly recommend the following: - Brussel sprouts - quail - chicken laap Good/Okay: - sticky rice - pork spring rolls - pork belly wraps - pork curry noodles Skip these: - sweet chili chicken (just tasted like an inferior version of general tso and it was also very bony) - papaya salad (any Thai place in the city would have better papaya salad)

I've been to dhom and they recommended to come try there food at this location because I had such a great experience over there. I made reservations for two me and my friend came to celebrate our birthdays and we wanted to try half the menu. Everything we ordered came out really delicious, we didn't really like the papaya salad but everything else was really good. The service was excellent. The environment was chill, by the time we got there at 9pm all the other customers was already getting ready to leave so it wasn't loud at all. We got the berkshire ribs($35), berkshire pork spring rolls($23), papaya salad, tuna chips, chicken sausage, crispy brussels sprouts.

NYCA quick lunch with a coworker. My hanger steak was too rare and asked to be cooked more. I chosed jasmine rice which came out with minced eggplant and straw mushrooms. My coworkers stir-fried ginger shrimp came with bean sprouts with picked cauliflower and zucchini. The oolong tea came out in a nice looking kettle and it was a high quality.

We made a reservation for four but ended up a friend cancelled so it was three of us. It was the last day of restaurant week and we agreed to try the restaurant week menu. I selected Smoked Chili Glazed Duck Leg Confit Pickled Cucumber & Toasted Country Bread for the small plate/appetizer. It was a little hard for my taste but it is tasty. The large plate/entree I picked was Berkshire Pork Spare Ribs, Smashed Long Bean & Papaya Salad with Cherry Tomatoes. They specified that the restaurant week version does not include the rice. The ribs were good but I am not sure the regular version is a good value for $35 as stated in the menu. I went with the waitress' recommendation for the dessert: Toasted Coconut Gelato. I liked it. The three of us also ordered a bottle of the sparkling Rose. We enjoyed it. All in all, we had a fun time and the place had good food. U want to highlight that the servers were very accommodating. They asked a lot of questions to suit our needs and made very sensible recommendations. They do have good food, just think that they are a little pricy.

Most of the dishes are too salty, especially the papaya salad and the tuna laap. The spare rib is ok.I liked the curry pork soup.

We came here on a Friday evening with a reservation for outdoor dining. Part of their outdoor space is enclosed, and the other part is completely open. We were sitting in the open space, and it was a little chilly at night. We ordered Creekstone Farms Sesame Beef Jerky, Bamboo Grilled Ginger Quail, Crispy Pork Belly Wrap, Chili Prawns, and Tuna Laap. The food portion is quite small, not good for sharing with a group. My favorite dish is chili prawns. It's delicious. The service is sporadic for outdoor dining.

Ambiance is nice and dark, some of the seatings are really close together and people can definitely bump into one another when going to sit down.Food and drinks came quickly. I ordered the streetcar to drink and loved it. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, Crispy Pork Belly Wraps, and Pork Spring Rolls. Dishes were solid, I think our favorite was definitely the Brussel Sprouts.

Eating at Khe-Yo was one of the restaurant highlights of my entire life. With Chef Phet being a friend of a member of our party, he came out from the kitchen to greet our table and asked if he could pick all of our food for the evening. And he delivered. I've never seen so much food for one table in my entire life. Every time I thought to myself that I couldn't eat anymore, three new dishes would arrive at our table. All I could do was shake my head and laugh and then dig in.There was so much food, I can't even recall everything that I ate! It seemed like he sent out the entire menu, and I'm not kidding. But here are my favorites:Pork Spring Rolls - crispy spring rolls, wrapped in lettuce leaves and dipped in a delicious peanut sauce.Crispy Duck Leg - Duck is always a risky thing to order. It's either spectacular or it's chewy and dry and a huge letdown. Chef Phet knocked it out of the park. It was perfectly cooked with so much flavor.Crispy Pork Belly Wrap - Sweet and spicy and c'mon. You can never go wrong with pork belly.Pork Curry Noodle. - My absolute favorite of the entire night. It was great to end our evening on such a high, even though by that point, I had food up to my eyeballs. ย And it was a huge bowl. But it smelled heavenly even after the whirlwind dinner we'd just experienced.Chef periodically came out from the kitchen to give us tips. Like "Try the sauce from this entree and pair it with pork belly from that one." These tips elevated the entire experience. Thank you, Chef Phet. You gave me a night I will never forget.

The spring rolls were awesome and the place lived up to its reputation. Highly recommend!

Hosted a monthly supper club here, and the members loved the decor and food here.Cocktail, had the Lao Lao Sour : Lao Lao Sour, Cognac, Pineapple & Peach - tart, fruity, and not too strong, it was a great accompaniment to the seriously flavorful dishes we enjoyed.Berkshire Pork Spring Rolls: Sweet Carrot Peanut Sauce, Fresh Herbs & Lettuces - the party unanimously loved this. Came out piping hot, steaming and crispy (I may or may not have burned myself scarfing this down)Lemongrass Chicken Sausage: Rau-Rum, Lettuce & Sweet Peanut Sauce - this only comes with one sausage, so if you have big eaters you may need more than one order. I can only handle the lower levels of spicy hell, and this one had a serious mouth tingling kick. The rest of the party however adored this and actually kept the sauce on the side to save for later dish dipping.Crispy Pork Belly Wrap: Sweet Carrot Peanut Sauce & Rice Vermicelli - super crunchy, fatty deliciousnessPork Curry Noodle: Coconut Milk, Fresh Herbs & Lettuces - delicious and decadently rich. One of the standouts of the night, everyone kept refilling their bowls. The soup looks angry, but I can assure you this one was not spicy.Sweet Chili Bell & Evans Chicken: Fried Garlic, Chillies & Jasmine Rice - Very generously portioned, sweet & spicy. For context, it's like the Laos version of General Tso's chicken Berkshire Spare Ribs: Smashed Long Bean & Papaya Salad with Cherry Tomatoes - nothing wrong with this dish at all, but pretty standard.Wok-Seared Gulf Prawns & Noodles: Yu Choy & Thai Basil - This was a great supplement dish, comparable to a fancy pad see ew.Charred Curried King Salmon: Coconut Green Curry & Jasmine Rice - cooked well and enjoyable, but overshadowed by other more flavorful counterparts. It was a nice mild dish if you're looking for something a little lighter to enjoy.Crispy Brussels Sprout Leaves: Caramel Fish Sauce & Pickled Peppers - we regret only ordering one (I'd want my own order next time)Sticky Rice & Sauces: Sticky Rice with Bang-Bang & Eggplant Sauces - The eggplant sauce on the sticky rice is phenomenal. The rest of the group felt that the Bang-Bang sauce was "Bangin'" for lack of a better term. Seems like something boring, but it's absolutely worth ordering.Would definitely return, and love that they can easily accommodate large groups. It's a little hard to gauge how much to order since they vary from a single sausage to a giant sharable bowl of curry, but it's worth over ordering to be able to sample all the great dishes. Bring more people so you can order more dishes to try! I'm rarely able to capture photos with this crowd since they tend to attack the food as soon as it arrives.
Be the first to ReplyFood tasted fine, but was kind of pricey (i.
e. $15 for 1 sausage). I tasted a lot of Thai flavors, I guess because both cuisines are from southeast Asia. So, if you like Thai flavors this will be right up in your alley. We enjoyed the wok seared gulf prawns and noodles, which was very flavorful. It seems their lunch menu is priced reasonably.
Be the first to ReplyStopped by for restaurant week on a Wednesday night.
We had a reservation for 6:30 PM but the main dining room is quite large and I don't think we would've had a problem with walk-in. It wasn't too busy at first but it definitely does pick up. Service was friendly but they did make small mistakes like forgetting one of our extra dishes and throwing away the sticky rice that we wanted to keep. But for the most part they were friendly and professional. For restaurant week my date and I got to try the following items:1) Crispy duck leg w/ smoked chili sauce, pickled onion, grilled country bread: I only got a small bite but it was very meaty and rich but the chili sauce was complex and the pickled onion added some levity. The bite of duck I had was a bit more done than I'd like but still good. (3.75/5)2) Hawaiian Yellowtail w/ Honeycrisp Apple Citrus Vinaigrette and toasted quinoa: My appetizer and very up my alley because it's a very light appetizer that's packed with flavor. There's almost a honey like sweetness to an otherwise very acidic vinaigrette. The bits of toasted quinoa give a nutty taste flavor and a nice contrast in texture. The portion is small but you only need the smallest bite for a mouth full of flavor. (4.5/5)3) Hangar Steak Curry w/ Stir Fried Noodles: Date's entree so only had a bite. But I can't say that anything really stood out to me. It reminds me of takeout. Tasty but nothing that really wow'd me. (3.5/5)4) Banana Leaf Wrapped Red Snapper w/ Dill and Apple Eggplant: My entree and like my appetizer, it was very light. It comes with a chili sauce where the stronger flavors come from but I put it on the side and forgot about it.... but even without it the fish had such a subtle sweet flavor and the banana leaf gave it a pleasant sweet aroma too. I've never had apple eggplant and I really enjoyed the texture of it (4.25/5)5) Salted Caramel Gelato + Mango Gelato: Both are good but the mango is definitely the fresher of the two flavors. The salted caramel has almost a butterscotch like flavor. Solid all around (4.25/5)Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Khe-Yo. I am interested in their non restaurant week items and would definitely like to come back to give those a try.

Food (3/5): Even though the food and drinks look beautiful, the flavor is not too great. The lychee Soda was bland and not sweet, the Pork Belly was deep fried too heavily resulting in them being too hard to consume and might hurt your teeth. However the sticky rice with sauces and the Pork Curry noodles were pretty good however the Pork Curry noodles could have been more savory and flavorful.Service (5/5): Good service whereby the server checked in a good amount of times and were helpful.Venue (4/5): Beautiful, spacious venue with clean bathrooms. The main issue is that the tables are small.

We went to this charming resturant during NYC Resturant Week for lunch. The food was delicious and the NYCRW menu had great choices. Tucked away in Tribeca, the service was excellent the flavors very unique. Definitely worth going to anytime. We'll be back to try more flavorful dishes.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely awful service/experience.
The waiter (see below for description) was in a bad mood of some sort and completely dismissed us because only I ordered a drink and my lady didnt. Every damn waiter tried to come to our table to take our damn food away when we are not even done with them. They also came to disturb our conversation by trying to take the check multiple times while I have not even signed yet. The pork curry had one tiny piece of pork floating on the soup and I asked the waiter (heavy set hispanic guy, beware of him, he will ruin your night) whether this is how it is for a large entree dish ($35) he righteously said yes, this is it and looked at me funny and walked away. (Hello we did not order restaurant week portion, give us the right amount of food seriously wtf) WORST dining experience in years.

Review from a former picky eater ย It was my first time ever trying Lao cuisine and Khe-Yo did NOT disappoint. For those who are unfamiliar with Lao cuisine, it does remind me a bit of Vietnamese food. I ordered the Grilled Ginger Prawns with noodles on the side. The noodles at Khe-Yo are easily the best noodles I've ever had in my life. The noodles had an unexpected but pleasant crunch from the toppings, and each bite was extremely flavourful. I would have this every week if I could. The prawns were still good, but the noodles were the star for me.I also had the homemade Lychee Soda. If I'm not mistaken, the base is sparkling water. Personally I'm not a fan of sparkling water as much, so this drink was just alright for me. However, if you like sparkling water, you'll probably like this drink a lot more than I do. The homemade salted caramel ice cream was alright. It wasn't bad for sure, but it wasn't stunningly good. The restaurant does offer other desserts. Overall, Khe-Yo does deserve a visit when you find yourself in NY. The noodles again are exceptional and I can't wait to be back.
Be the first to ReplyWhy do they tell you the only seats available are outside
Why do they tell you the only seats available are outside when it's snowing? There are seats at the bar open. I'm sitting in one right now. Lack of consideration for customer experience. It's 2021 in Tribeca and you can't have one vegetarian option!?I was able to find a papaya salad. It's doused in fish sauce and pork rinds. This is AFTER I told them we don't eat meat or fish.Like I said no consideration for customer experience.I see one other Asian besides us.
