Chef always serves amazing pieces and the menu is ever-changing. The new surprises are always amazing. They have opened our palate in regards to loving mackerel, ginger, and others. Their take on pieces that I would typically only tolerate at other establishments, has me wanting more and opens my eyes to what freshness and proper preparation can do. I always love ending the night with additional chef's choice pieces. Chef has yet to disappoint me. I was served - fresh mackerel (not a hint of fishiness), abalone (perfect texture and chew), Santa Barbara uni (largest I have ever seen and SO sweet), and o-toro (I typically love chu-toro but last night the o-toro was better) Notable pieces of the night - Spanish mackerel (I have never had mackerel so buttery), creme brulee tamago (this was an amazing new experience, perfect balance of egg and sweetness with a perfect creme brulee crunch), smoked uni, and ending with the ume shiso hand roll (our experience at Kintsugi would not feel complete without these 2 items). Everything was amazing but these pieces stood out the most. We have continued to recommend our friends to Kintsugi, often coming with them. We have yet to find an experience better than we have had here and will continue to come back.
