One of the best meals we’ve ever had
Having tried most of the top 50 restaurants in Lima (past and present), we had moderate expectations. This is why we booked a la carte rather than tasting experience, to give us more flexibility. When we arrived, we were taken behind the gate where Central and Kjolle are located. To get to the house, you walk through the vegetable and herb garden and where some of the ingredients are smoked. Once at the restaurant, we were promptly taken to our table and given menus to peruse. Service was exceptional from the start, we were given recommendations for dishes to try and sommelier helped us match them with wine. Wine selection was very impressive, including per glass. We had 3 starters; seabass & clams, squash & crustaceans and catch of the day & sea urchin. The second starter in particular was exceptional (I am still thinking of how good it was!). We then ordered octopus tentacles and beef ribs for main and they were both delicious. We finished our meals with a special vintage of sweet French wine. The meal was fantastic, some of the dishes best we’ve ever had, great atmosphere and service second to none. We eat out a lot so it’s sometime hard to impress us but we left the restaurant feeling wow-ed. We look forward to Kjolle becoming no 1 restaurant in the world. It deserves it.
Be the first to ReplyBest Restaurant in Peru, hands down!
Forget the other “top 50 restaurants” in Peru. This is the spot. Food was excellently crafted with each course complementing the next. We felt like a celebrity eating here with the staff being attentive but not intrusive. Every member was passionate about the restaurant and elevating your experience. I could not recommend a restaurant more highly. Each course was thoughtful, well balanced and worked together. Please eat here if you are in Lima. We ate at all the top restaurants in Peru and this was the only one that we are still talking about daily. Kjolle for number one!!!
Be the first to ReplyExceptional experience, not just extraordinary food
Very nice restaurant - not just great food offerings but the ambiance and service are extraordinary. Perhaps one of the nicest restaurants I've eaten at. Dress code is fairly casual as there are a lot of tourists (no shorts, polo shirt is OK). The food was exceptional, the waiters were attentive and explained to us every meal. Truly great place. We also visited another restaurant in the 'Top 50 in the world' list and this one was a class better.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic dinner
Unquestionably one of the great restaurants in the world. Food was awesome, not challenging or in need of an acquired taste, just fantastic. Service was fine dining without the stuffiness, young female sommelier has an exceptional pallet, my wife does not drink so I had glasses of vino with some dishes. My wife has a very specific diet she weights her food and does not eat certain foods, the chef (who is a superstar) accommodated her and told us when we come back let her know and she will cook a special meal for my wife. I know Central is now the #1 joint in the world but check out Kjolle. Shadow boxed with her kid, his got good hands. All in all one of the best meals I've ever had. Bravo Pia and your team!
Be the first to ReplyPoor service and poor food
We were very excited to visit Kjolle due to its relationship with Central and a love of Peruvian cuisine and its diverse ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience did not match our expectations in any way. When we arrived the initial welcome was very exciting, we were led through the house and shown to our beautiful table. Following that, we were shown the menu and quickly given the first course (a bread course) which was quite tasty. However the next few courses were quite poor. The shrimp course was heavily overcooked with the shrimp being rubbery and the sea bass course being incredibly salty. Additionally, the service for such a high end restaurant was very poor. The courses came out so fast we had no chance to enjoy our dinner, and nobody was refilling our water glasses. All in all a very disappointing experience.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful meal to experience Peru
We went for dinner, my wife and I had the experience and the kids ordered a la carte. It was honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. I'm not a fan of squid but the squid dish was perhaps my favourite bite I've enjoyed in years. The service was wonderful, the staff super friendly and knowledgable. Excellent meal and would happily dine there again.

Amazing meal. We loved the ambience and the staff is so nice without the stuffy atmosphere of a Michelin restaurant. One of the best meals of my life. Very similar to central. We went for lunch and it was the perfect amount of time. I didn't feel rushed but I wasn't bored bc the meal didn't drag on.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food but probably not worth going again.
The food was very good and the service was extraordinary - BETTER than her husband's restaurant, Central by a long shot from a service perspective. The scallops were delicious. The best was the beef ribs and the river shrimp. The least impressive was the desert which frankly reminded me too much of Central's version of deconstructed Cacao. Could have done a lot better here than copying from downstairs. The journey also included the wine pairings which were odd and frankly a bit jarring - they made some selections which just didn't work like Agathodemon - meh. One bright spot here was the Whey Vodka which was OUTSTANDING. All in all a very good meal and night out. Expect to spend $350-400 USD for 2 here. Is it worth it? I'm a bit on the fence- probably won't go again. Central runs about $650 for 2 - is it worth it? No not really. While the food there is good, the service lacks a lot and frankly neither Pia or Martinez make any effort to participate (neither of them are in their kitchens) or interact with the guests. So no probably won't go back again.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent… but service is too quick!
We went to Kjolle with my Peruvian fiancée to enjoy Pia Leon’s cuisine and the Kjolle experience menu. And what we can say first is that we have not been disappointed: it was absolutely amazing! The experience menu is properly a journey into Peru through the various gastronomy and biodiversity that can offer the country. All the dishes have an incredible taste and something you have never tasted for sure. We chose the non alcoholic option regarding the drinks. And this is what I would advise. This, you will taste 6 different fruit juices and again, you will be delighted discovering the diversity of fruit Peru can offer. The juices are the perfect match with the food. Regarding the negative points, only one from my side: the service is too quick! There is not enough time between the dishes, no break for the customers to breathe. In the gastronomic restaurants, and especially in France, we are used to a slower service that allow customers to better enjoy the food, especially when it is original and various in terms of tastes. It also allow customers to discuss. To conclude: I strongly recommend Kjolle and from my side, I will go back for sure next time I am in Lima.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and great experience!!
This was our favorite restaurant while in Lima. The food was amazing. The dishes were creatively prepared and the presentations were beautiful. Loved hearing about the ingredients and how the food was prepared. Service was top notch. We highly recommend this restaurant, as did the top notch concierge at Miraflores Park hotel. Take a few minutes and visit the cacao testing area downstairs. They make their own chocolate which was very good. Be sure to plan ahead and make a reservation!
Be the first to ReplyA lovely, if rushed, experience
The food here is beautiful and tastes amazing. I love a tasting menu and this one had a clear point of view and showed tremendous skills. Everything was interesting and showcased the flavors of Peru. I would say I felt rushed at times. I was traveling by myself, and eating on my own never bothers me. But I felt that because I was on my own, and courses may be finished a little quicker, they would swoop in and take my plate and bring the next one before I finished my wine. The service was lovely, but perhaps a little too efficient. That said it was a fantastic experience and a highlight of my trip to Lima.
Be the first to ReplyGood experience
Beautiful location, modern design, lot of space between tables and very high ceilings give it more air. Staff is friendly and relatively attentive, however not always on top level. Food is interesting, I had the tasting menu which was good. However some dishes were quiet heavy. Overall a nice experience and Incan recommended this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding dishes!
Our evening at Kjolle was amazing, unfortunately we booked only a few weeks ahead and could therefore not get a slot for a tasting menu. Nevertheless the dishes were amazing, our waiter was as amazing as the food and provided us with a lot of interesting insights beyond the information about the dishes.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
The food and wine marriage were good but the experience in general was nothing exceptional. For that price I was expecting something more memorable (in terms of tastes and how ancient grains or local products would be cooked and shaped). I thought the chef had been awarded in 2021, if so, it might not have been for that restaurant.

Very disappointed by the service : mechanical, no emotions. Food interesting. Room was very cold with greasy smoke due to proximity with the kitchen where they fry some ingredients. Overall, unfortunately, a very average experience…
Be the first to ReplyExcellent meal in a surprising decor
We don't like the notion of "menu degustation " and so choose the kjolle more than Central...No regrets... The decor is minimalist , could seemed "cold" but fiannly all is in the plates. Attentive service whho cut the A/C as they remarked we feel a little frigorified... We begin by Squash and crustaceans all in nuance and Corvina and clams a great experience Then we "share" High altitude roots and octopus : very high quality...exceptional flavors in dessert, cacao and amazon nut, of the same level good choice of wine. music not too loud but at our advice unnecessary. We go to restaurant to et and be able to sepak without have to raise the voice
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best restaurants in Lima
Great experience at Kjolle: the staff was great, and the food exceptional. They always try to cook with local products, which is also a big plus.
We had the “à la carte” menu, I had the pork belly and my wife ordered the octopus. Both were full of flavour, and with great accompanying dishes.
Would definitely recommend!
Excellent
Excellent restaurant with great dishes and service. Nothing to add except that the overall experience was great! I would definitely recommend it to everyone living or stopping by in Lima.
Be the first to ReplyGo if you are curious; don't go for the food/experience
The good and the bad, in short:
1. Hard to find the place, as the sign is very discreet.
2. Located in a nice garden, but you don`t see it from where you eat. There are no windows near the sitting area.
3. All people that attend you are very nice, but we had to ask for a bit of piece of mind, as they did not stopped bumping in for more than 10 sec. You can not think of talk with your partner for more than 10 seconds before they come and talk and talk.
4. The tasting menu was nice, with interesting colorful options. Taste was ok, aroma was weak, nothing extraordinary. It was clear they made a big effort to use local original ingredients, but success was limited.
5. My partner announced that she does not want garlic, so they changed a meat plate by pork belly. Problem is that they did not alerted her of the change and she actually does not like pork belly at all.
6. The wine by the glass was good and at a reasonable price.
7. The cost, US$ 115/person, before drinks and service, is high for Lima.
My recommendation is to go if your are curious to know this specific restaurant, but if you have to choose only one or two of the top Lima restaurants, skip this one.
Good option, just not as good as sister restaurant, Central.
Lunch at Kjolle was good! Service was good, food was good…just a notch or two below what Central offers downstairs. For lunch, it’s pricey…probably too pricey.

I'm a *súper foodie, now vegan for a year now.. I was thrilled that I would have an opportunity to eat at Top Female Chef's Pía Leon's restaurant in Barranco, Lima, Perú, 'Kjolle'.. I chose an 8 course vegan menú, very curious as to what would be prepared and hoping to get some good ideas, as I love to cook at home... I dressed nicely, but informallt, as they requested, as I read in the description and arrived a bit early to look around. The ID gets a 5.: Beautiful and minimalist, withTouches of wood and stone (and wood WITH stone) beautiful displays of contemporary hand made cerámics and DRIed plants and fruits and veggies in jars, neuteral tones, plant dyed weaving. Exquisite!... I was lead to my table by a tastefully casually dressed waiter. I was given a menu, but evidently they thought I was vegetarian instead of vegan ( happens often)... The choreographed meal began I had chosen to also have the wines (excellent choices!), the 'maridaje'... Well, The background music was too loud, and was annoying digital music poorly balanced with way too much treble( so it was kind of 'piercing', very little bass, so I asked them to turn it down, which they did not ( perhaps it was programmed, quien sabe? I asked 2x)...being synesthetic this really distracted me from focusing on my lovely ( costly) meal. So the energy I wanted to spend on tasting was used in blocking annoying music, bummer! Also, I noticed that the food was beautifully presented but...very bland. But wait I had seen a beautiful herb garden outside, was it all for show? Or was this because it was vegan, or is bland "in'.I THOUGHT I had a sensitive palate, but maybe I'm wrong? Oh, dear!...Anyway, I was grateful to have the delicious wines presented to me by lovely, professional Geraldine, in gorgeous stemware. (All the flatware changed each time also, impressive)... Then 1/2 way thru a young couple ,with a cute 3-4 year old, is seated next to me... The young dad has a loud, corny T shirt on, shorts, lip- flops, the Mom, is at least wearing a tasteful black dress with a little sparkly 'tiara' in her hair (really, Ariadne?). Wait! I read their web page and there IS supposedly a dress code AND small children are not incl.in their guest list.. Don't get me wrong I love kids and often go to 'family style restaurants in a -T shirt, & shorts. But this is SUPER upscale. The little girl now is watching her cartoons on a cel phone with the screen facing MY table... What had become what I had hoped to be an unforgettable, sophisticated , elevated 5 star 'experience' meal become a family style nightmare w/ bad theme music... Such a bummer! (I wondered ...were they friends of the esteemed chef and her spouse, who have a child the same age ? Quien sabe?) ... I finished with an exquisite dessert with cocoa in various forms and a lovely sweet home distilled wine, so I was somewhat assuaged. I paid my bill leaving a very generous tip for the serving staff, as I don't hold them responsible for what ended up being a disappointing experience, they were just doing their jobs., attentive, though somewhat stiff...Luckily I wandered downstairs to the bar, where things seemed more laid back and there wparwas no annoying background music OR cartoons playing. I started chatting with Nilver, the cocoa expert (this is when I'm so happy I'm bilingual!) who passionately explained the MANY virtues of the cocoa bean! Wow!... SO yes it turned out to be an intense restauurant 'experience, but where the food played a minor part.
minor part,
Absolutely unforgettable experience
One of the best food experiences I have ever had! Everything was absolutely perfect: the food of course was delicious and every single dish was a wonderfully mastered mix of flavors, textures, techniques and colors; the presentation was extremely delicate, and the wine pairing was perfect and even further elevated the flavors of every dish. The service was top notch: professional and knowledgeable, yet friendly, and the whole menu was perfectly paced. And finally, the setting, with beautiful spaces, tables, cutlery, decoration… It was a fantastic experience not to be missed!
