This restaurant is AMAZING!!
Dining at KOCHI was an absolute delight from start to finish, exceeding our expectations. We were impressed by the exquisite cuisine and impeccable, attentive top-notch service. The entire staff was incredibly knowledgeable and worked seamlessly together to create a special dining experience. I canโt say enough good things about the service we received, the professionalism and warmth added a personal touch to our evening. The tasting menu showcased a variety of innovative dishes, bursting with flavors with beautiful presentations. Our experience at this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. We could not have chosen a more perfect place to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Thank you. We highly recommend KOCHI for a unique and fantastic dining experience. Will be returning next time we are in town for sure! Thank you to our wonderful server, she was amazing, as well as Nicholas, Sommelier and of course Chef Louis who created an incredible, unique and beautiful selection of dishes!

Gracious service and stunning, flavor-filled bites. We needed to keep the tasting menu handy so we understood each dish. We had some dietary restrictions which were handled masterfully. Fwiw, we thought 10 courses was a little too much foodโฆ. It we enjoyed them all.
Be the first to Reply9 course meal to die for!!!!
$145 per person nine course meal tasting menu inspired by Korean cuisine. Braised short rib was my favorite. Service, ambiance and food were incredible. I cannot say enough positive comments about this wonderful place. We will definitely come back when next time we are in town. Michelin 5 star restaurant.
Be the first to ReplySay โNochiโ to โKochiโ! Very bad!
This was the WORST tasting menu meal Iโve experienced. $652 Cdn for two people for tough beef, terrible tasting mystery sauces and arrogant, rude and rushed service. If this is a Michelin star restaurant, Michelin needs to review its rating system. I have been to Michelin restaurants worldwide and was appalled at the poor quality of food and service at Kochi. Absolutely terrible food.

Absolutely amazing restaurant , great staff , outstanding food , creativity and innovation, a hidden gem !
Be the first to ReplyRising star restaurant at NY
Interesting and amazing food presentation and everything taste good. Challenge to secure reservation. One michelin star restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is out of this world !!
Visited Kochi on visit from London and....wow....what a brilliant restaurant. Sure, I can recognise some of the drawbacks highlighted in other reviews (seating a bit cramped and the pace of service a little rushy) but none of that matters. Who needs plush seating when THE FOOD IS OUT OF THIS WORLD !!!? The menu is creative and beautifully executed (if you can, get a seat at the Chef's counter and watch the kitchen's painstaking attention to detail) and the resulting 9 courses are perfectly balanced and stunning to look at, as well as truly delicious. I can't remember the last time I was so impressed or enjoyed a meal so much. Totally knockout. I'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely not a 1-star Michelin experience
I have already eaten at many "starred" restaurants, so I arrived with high expectations. However, they were not met at Kochi restaurant. Pros: fast service and friendly staff. Cons: 1) Some dishes were anonymous regarding the combination of tastes, flavours, and textures; the service was definitely "too" fast, and you may not have the time to taste the previous dish (with the beverage) that the next one is arriving; the prices are crazy (menu + (chronically and ridiculously) US tips + drinks you'll spend around 240/250$), and with this price, you may eat in two- to three-star Michelin restaurants all around the world; if you eat outside, under the canopy, you could feel like you're anywhere in the world so, for this seats, it would be more adequate a sort of discount in the price (a 70 x 70 cm table, close to the road, for a 250$ dinner??). This last aspect should be evaluated when "starring" a restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely expensive without any reason
We have visited the restaurant during our holidays in Christmas. They offer us an 8 plate degustation menu for 185 $ per person, without the wine. The place is like a street canteen. The service is very good. The food was below the average.I suggest you to visit another restaurant in Manhattan.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, only slightly Koreanโฆ more high end international
The location is really tiny and the spacing between the table certainly doesnโt allow for any intimacy. The dehors is even more โplainโ and certainly is youโd judge only for the location itโs not worth the priceโฆ. BUTโฆ. Food is delicious and the only menu choice not only helps the service that is rapid and attentive but offers a complete tasting experience. I could only skip the halibut, and the last spongy dessert (looks good but doesnโt taste as youโd expect. Everything elsa has all the i Giddings for success, taste, combination, crispiness together with subtliness. I would describe it as the Umami touch. The wine pairing is even excessive, a glass for every servingโฆ the risk is to end up drunk. But the quality is excellent as the correct pricing. I also had some peculiar Korean teas that I donโt find often.
Be the first to ReplySpeechless because it was that good!!!
The quality of food and service was amazing at Kochi. We had the 9 course tasting menu and every dish beautiful and flawless. Definitley a memorable experience and would come back again.
Be the first to ReplyMOST MEMORABLE MEAL
I made a reservation here for our 1 year wedding anniversary and I can honestly say this was one the most stunning and amazing meals I've had in NYC. The only other restaurant to top this experience is Le Bernardin. I'd like to start by saying I am a vegetarian and my review is based on this experience. First - it was so easy to inform the restaurant of my dietary needs and they accommodated it stupendously. I had my own 9 course meal while my partner, who does eat meat, had their general 9 course menu. We paired this with their alcohol tasting and that also blew us away. The alcohol pairing was so many different types of alcohol to match the food and that really impressed me. It was also heart warming to see they were supporting local brews and creations. Rarely do I think it's worth it to spend a large amount of money on food but I found this 9 course meal to be responsibly priced and their alcohol pairing was also very fairly priced. The food was seasoned to perfection, unique, and delicious. I can't stop talking about what a worthwhile place this is to eat. I am attaching all the pictures of my vegetarian meal so you can see for yourself. Thank you Kochi for creating such a memorable meal that I know we will be bragging about for the rest of our life.
Be the first to ReplyWe're Becoming Regulars
This was our third visit to Kochi since our son started at university in New York City. And it won't be our last. The Chef's signature menu always hits the mark. We added the abalone, A5 Wagyu with truffles, and uni options, all of which were well prepared and elegant in presentation. Other favorites were the crispy shrimp and pork belly with kimchi marmalade. The sool pairing worked well with nearly all of the courses, except perhaps for the beer pairing which was a bit underwhelming. The service was attentive and friendly, but we couldn't help but compare it - perhaps unfairly - to one of our favorite servers/managers anywhere, Jesse, who recently left Kochi.
Be the first to ReplyNicholas- the best waiter! Best restaurant.
The best thing was our waiter - Nicholas. He was so careful, I came a little sick to the restaurant and felt bad- so he brought me tea pot, asked if everything is ok and understood us when we needed to leave, early than excepted. For sure we will come back to make a corrective experience - And will ask Nicholas to be our waiter again. Except the stuff, the food was great and itโs nice place to go out to because of the good vibe.
Be the first to ReplyIt was OK but Bad Seating
This is good if youโre looking for variety or have an adventurous palate because you have no clue what they serving or how itโs prepared since itโs more like a Kaiseki course. Those familiar with Omakases can expect the usual like Otoro or Tamago. Probably more similar to Per Se or Chefโs Counter. However, itโs only one Michelin star so a bit of hit or miss for me when thatโs the case. Itโs a long meal and you can do drink pairing as well. You wonโt be hungry afterwards, so donโt eat beforehand. I thought there were more misses than hits however service is good. Each dish is announced but I find it too long and to be honest, I just want to eat the dish and not listen to it or at least not listen to it for a such a long time. I find the seating very uncomfortable because the table legs take up too much space that you have no room for your legs. Worst tables ever. I just want to stretch my legs forward but canโt. The counter may be more comfortable but I wonโt like it there either since the servers will be behind you serving the dishes and talking from behind you. The counter serves no purpose here as the chef and servers donโt do any serving in front of you.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food
Went for dinner for our first night in NY. Had the tasting menu which was lovely and the staff were good spot on. We sat outside which made it nicer I think. The wine I felt could have had more American wines on the menu than they did but itโs great Korean food in a Michelin style presentation and taste
Be the first to ReplyExtremely expensive but the food is amazing
Most people will not go to midtown west, in a residential neighborhood in a space that is essentially a 'hole in the wall' to spend $200+ per person on a meal in NYC. This is a fixed price 7 course meal, and you will not leave stuffed, just pleasantly satiated. If you have the money, you will not regret going to Kochi for some of the most unique and beautifully presented food you will ever experience. And did I mention it was Korean food? It hardly matters, and you will have to take the waitstaff's word for it. Whatever kind of food this is, it is delicious, meticulously crafted, and attentively served. There are five kinds of 'rice wine' and they are interesting, though we did not get the 'wine pairings'. We went to Kochi in a torrential downpour and sat outside under what was pretty much a tarp - so much for atmosphere. However, the inside of the restaurant is very cramped, with a bar taking half the very limited space. I would imagine, at these prices, this restaurant and this chef will be angling for more comfy digs and a more elegant address soon.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
I had higher expectation from a starred Michelin restaurant. The food was good but not great and too expensive to the quality and service delivered
Be the first to ReplySuper good experience!
One of our best experiences when it comes to food! 9 really good courses and great service. We walked home with big smiles from Kochi.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food
Incredible food using a huge number of unusual ingredients. Each course was delicious, the wait staff were attentive and enthusiastic about the food and drink.
Paired drinks are a must.
Bloody Delicious
Incredible tasting menu. Nine courses and each one a knock out. Quite possibly the best meal Iโve had in the US for a long time.
Bloody delicious
Amazing kitchen
the tasting menu is absolutely amazing. Not a single miss during the evening which is very rare when considering so many dishes.
Be the first to ReplyMake a reservation STAT. Phenomenal
From Squid Games to BTS, Korean is the rage rn and every chef is incorporating kimchee or gochujang into their dishes. But "Kochi" meaning skewer in korean takes classic korean dishes and elevates them to new heights. Each dish outdoes the last. Choices are between 2 tasting menus (basically just differs in # of courses). We did the smaller tasting one but upgraded one of the dishes to the beef so we could try both the bossam and beef options.
The place is very small so definitely need reservations. There is bar seating and outdoor tables (again very limited) as well.
This is elevated dining but not with the snootiness. Just incredible bites of food - though even with the smaller tasting menu, both my husband and I were totally full by the final course. There are also some unique cocktails and reasonably priced restaurants. You can also opt to do the beverage pairing.
Their tasting menu probably changes several times a year and can't wait to go again!
Go for the signature tasting - it is worth it.
Very nice service. We sat outside and the staff did a great job making sure everyone's temperature was okay with the weather. They are a well oiled machine and keeping people from pan handling the customers. It was actually very impressive to watch them. The tasting required swap out of the silverware to all sorts of unusual size and shaped spoons, which was very fun.
We opted for the signature tasting and I am so glad we did! The pumpkin soup with squash was a delight to behold - I am not a fan of either! Everything was great, but the highlights to me were the cashew cream on the pork medallion and the steak with ramp chimichurri and truffles. The balance of flavors in the dish was masterful.
Fine Dining Korean in Theater District
On the six course fine dining menu some dishes were terrific -- like the Pine Nut and some could use some improvement -- such as the Halibut. The Yuk Hew Bibimbap was good as was the Bossam. Service was fine though between the accents and mask wearing it was a challenge to hear the descriptions of the food. The location of the restaurant was odd given the high quality of the food.
