Kotuwa Singapore Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent
Cuisine with delicious flavors and textures. In addition, well advised by the waiter, we chose to share a main course for 2 (not being big eaters) with tasty accompaniments. We ended up with a very very reasonable bill given the quality of the meal. The service is perfect and if you stay like us at the Vanderlust Hotel you don't even have to leave the hotel to go to the restaurant. The only 2 points to improve would be the somewhat noisy room and the crazy price of wine, which is unfortunately quite common in Singapore. We will definitely return there with pleasure during our next visit to Singapore
Authentic beautiful food
Brilliant food and very authentic. We had the crab, yes a little expensive. $118 for 700g but beautifully cooked and great curry sauce. The prawns were a highlight too. Will definitely go back
"a magical experience once you figure out how to get pass the mystical door"
This spot is a nice spot to get out of the Singporean tropical weather and have a nie little trip down to Sri Lanka. We tried the duck, fish, egg and plan poppers, juke 5 and the annasi punch. 5/5 on the service, 5/5 on the menu. 1/5 on the main door which no one - and I mean no one could open. The owner would do well to replace the door as it is impossible to know that "that is the main door" and it swings inside from the right. Some simple signs would help me write only nice things in this review. Hence I title this "a magical experience once you figure out how to get pass the mystical door"
Beautiful Space for Modern Sri Lankan Fine Dining
Kotuwa is a lovely ambience. It is beautiful to look at, with friendly service and the low lighting and hip music that gives a restaurant great buzz. If you want to enjoy a variety of dishes, it is probably best done with friends. You could eat well here as a couple, but Sri Lankan food is made to be shared and Kotuwa works best with several curries and something like their lamb shank or whole fish. The wine list and cocktails are on the pricey side, but the food is not expensive and the menu is a fabulous, modern take on the cuisine. It is not all meat-based and you could eat very well here as a vegetarian. Service staff are great at keeping your water glass filled and appearing at just the moment you want them. Everything about Kotuwa is a class act and you are guaranteed of a great night out here.
Excellent Srilankan food, good service
This was our second visit to Kotuwa, this time with friends. The food was fantastic, with each and every dish we had ordered (and we ordered quite a few) being a delight in terms of taste, flavours and presentation. It’s hard to choose a favourite - but if I had to choose would recommend the crab cutlets, the chicken kottu, the lychee pickle and the green mango curry which were outstanding. The beef cheek fry and the prawn devil were both delicious as well. The portion sizes were quite decent for a group of 4. The ambience was great, the energy vibrant and the service was attentive. Definitely coming back again.
Good for Sri Lankan food but really overpriced
I heard so many good things about this place but after visiting twice, unfortunately I feel the hype isn’t justified. The food is pretty good, but it doesn’t feel like they’ve really elevated the classic Sri Lankan dishes or put any sort of novel twist on it, so it feel like you’re being served very overpriced street food. No complaints about the quality, just didn’t think it was worth the hype and the hefty bill.
Utterly Disappointing Dinner
We read so much about Kotuwa and SO look forward to finally get there for a meal. Took the reviewers' advice to "seek help" from waitress on our orders, as it is our first visit to the restaurant. Turned out to be the biggest mistake of my life. We ordered crab cutlet, mutton roll and hopper as recommended by so many other diners. Waitress then advised that we order the pork dish and the dallo baduma - which is a squid dish. We ended up with a dinner that is a totally DRY dinner with NO sauce nor any sort of curry/broth to accompany our hopper . Everything was just bland and awfully hard to swallow with no kicks nor highs to our palette. It is a very far cry from any of the Indian dinners that we have always love. I think our sommelier felt sorry for us and knew that our dinner was an absolute disaster - she kindly gave us a free bowl of dahl so that we can have some "sauce" to get on with our meal. The pork was truly awful - it was tough, dry and totally devoid of any taste, the spices did not get into the pork at all. We were told that this dish will be removed from the menu soon - they should!! Chef Rishi should just go try this dish himself and he will understand what we experienced. The squid was fried and again one can barely taste the little bit of spices that was swimming in the oil around the squids. We did not bring wine because corkage is sky high at $70. So we thought that we will just order from the restaurant. After 2 selections - both were not available. We gave up and just got 2 glasses to start with the meal, thinking that we will order more wine as we progress with the meal. But at about $24++ per glass, we had 2 very low quality wines. Nett, we left after 45 minutes, feeling totally let down on a Saturday night...
Best Sri Lankan Food in Singapore
What a find. Location wise it sits in the Little India area as part of a hotel. The atmosphere is chilled and relaxed- and we started with a couple of margaritas to relax. The menu is great and extensive enough not to confuse. Ask for help if advice needed. We had duck rolls to start followed by hoppers, mango curry, beef and fish, along with the daal all of which was fabulous. Cannot recommend highly enough and refreshingly not too pricey for Singapore.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
