Wonderful find in Tiong Bahru - service is excellent and attentive, ambience is modern Japanese with nice oldies playing in the background, food was fresh and delicious. Canโt ask for more!

Ordered the kyoten omakase and many other alarm carte dishes.
Not worth the price at all. Food do not taste fresh and the place is very rowdy... With the 3 chefs drinking with customers and talking loudly.
Damage for the dinner:, $500
TEN lunch set
For an establishment that markets itself as having chefs who have helmed their skills at top Japanese restaurants, the experience was underwhelming.
My partner and I ordered the TEN lunch set which cost $120++ each. The quality of the fish and rice were decent โ nothing left a deep impression.
An issue arrived in the form of a missing sushi. We made sure to wait until all the items had arrived before asking. When we informed the lady server, she cleared our cutlery before checking with the chef. Eventually, we received our missing sushi just before dessert. There was no apology from the female server or chef.
This is disturbing for a $120++ meal. Why should the consumer have to conduct due diligence? If I had not checked, we would have been shortchanged.
The saving grace was our male host whom I believe to be Wilson. He was friendly and warm in ushering us to our tables and explaining the menu.
All in all, for $120++, you are better off spending that money at Shinji (Tsuki set at $125++), which is miles ahead in quality of ambience, service and food.
Very very disappointing
I came here for lunch with friends on a Saturday and took the Wagyu Sanshioyaki lunch set. I was very very disappointed by the mediocre quality. And they gave so little that you are compelled to order more. The quantity is more like an appetizer but they charge higher than the premium wagyu donburi you'd find at other Japanese restaurants in town.

Ordered sushi takeway consisting of both sushi and sashimi. Excellent!! The ubi was smooth and creamy, ginger was nice and hit the spot. Fresh wasabi. Definitely have not had a good Japanese in sg for a long time and this wins hands down!
Be the first to ReplyCosy Ambience with Great Food
Casual, unpretentious restaurant with quality food at a very affordable price tag is my impression of Kyoten.
I also like the fact that you can have both omakase and a la carte at the same table, which opens up the dining options.
And it's not often that you find juyondai in the sake list, let alone in a casual restaurant like this.
If the food could have that little bit more finesse, it would have my wholehearted 5 stars.
One of the best value for money Omakase Japanese Restaurant
Been a regular to Kyoten Japanese Cuisine as Head Chef Anson is easily one of the top local sushi chef in Singapore. His aged fishes are the best that I had in Singapore and once you try his sushi using aged fishes.....you will know why there are so many regulars to this Japanese Restaurant.

Wow!! Really authentic and rich bowl of chirashi don. Nice ambiance went for lunch so would love to visit for dinner too.

Had a blast last night , pax for 5. Celebrating my brother and his wifeโs birthday. Food was authentic, fresh and great quality. We ended up eating and drinking way to much. Donny was great. His team looked after us really well .
Be the first to ReplyGreat food hidden by an inconspicuous facade
This place has a very simple and inconspicuous facade which you would miss if you weren't paying attention. Quaint and quiet on the outside but filled with warmth on the inside.
Food was extremely fresh and we were told that they were flown in from Japan that very morning. Servings were generous and we left with well filled and happy tummies. Service was great and the chefs make you feel right at home.
Chef Anson's aged sashimi is definitely something we will return for. Truely haven't been able to find such aged fish elsewhere in Singapore.
Amazing fresh seafood
Came here to try out some of their lunch sets and sides. The interior was very spacious and had many seats.
I would highly recommend trying out their Signature Deep Fried Eggplant with Miso Paste. It's one of my favourites, and I would be satisfied just having this dish along with a bowl of rice.
I also loved the Tempura Sashimi Lunch Set which comes with a sashimi platter, tempura, premium Japanese Rice topped with Furikake, home made chanwanmushi, Japanese Garden Salad and a slice of Japanese Musk Melon. The sashimi platter was beautifully presented and very fresh. The variety of fish also provided many different textures and flavours.
