Be the first to ReplyWe got lucky and got a reservation last minute.
The food was pretty good aside from the lobster truffle pasta and the drinks were decent. I loved the vibe at the restaurant. Definitely coming back!

Despite the fact it's still hard to get a table, it's weird to say the quality really went down in 23/24. Four meals here have all been bad this season. Gluey, overcooked, cold pastas. Bad attitude at the hostess stand upon arrival. Lackluster table service. It's vail and I'm ok spending a small fortune on a decent dinner, but they were 0-4 this winter/spring season. Hopefully next year they manage to retain some better staff and improve the food quality and I'll be able to edit this review.

We had such a great time eating here last night! We were staying at beaver creek but my girlfriend loves Italian food and has been wanting to come here for a really long time so we drove the short 20 mins to Vail. The village has a free parking garage (after 4pm) and it's only a 3 min walk to the restaurant. As soon as you walk into La Nonna there's a coat check. From there you walk upstairs and you're greeted by what seems like your family. Everyone is so friendly and ready to make your experience amazing. Our servers name was Alena and let me tell you something... she was THE nicest, MOST helpful, MOST cheerful person you've ever met! She really did do everything she could to make sure our dinner was the best it could be. Now for dinner. To start.. for someone who's not super familiar with Italian, this menu was stressful.. You basically need a translator just to figure out what's what.. Though I can see how it would be fun and part of the experience for most people. We started off with some bread and oil (FOCACCIA del GIORNO). For my meal I ordered the TAGLIATELLE VERDI al CINGHIALE. It was really good but personally not one of my favorite dishes. I think I would have really enjoyed the GNOCCHI alla BOLOGNESE, It looked amazing! My girlfriend got the RAVIOLI TRE FUNGHI which was soooo good. For dessert we got the the chocolate mousse and the tiramisu. Both were absolutely amazing. One very important tip if you're wanting to try this restaurant.. Make reservations way ahead of time. We called a month before and they only had two times available for that day. I'm not sure if it's always like that but I can definitely see this place staying booked. The service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great, and we really enjoyed our time eating here:)

it is 100% worth making a reservation a month in advance to the day! great food, would eat here multiple times during a four day trip if possible!
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance had a cozy feeling.
More of a date night than a family night vibe. Love the fresh made daily pasta. I loved all the pastas I've tried. Large wine selection. Service was great but you can tell it was a busy night. The restaurant was packed for a weekday. I would make your reservations early! I also loved that they had a coat check since it was nice and warm inside.

My son had a nosebleed so we asked for our food to be packed up so that we could leave. The server told us everything was in the bag but when we got back to our hotel, we had one entree completely missing and half the dessert was missing as well. Super ridiculous for a seven hundred dollar bill. No one picks up the phone either.
Be the first to ReplySat at the bar, enjoyed delicious cocktails.
Calamari was fantastic, followed by the flavorful braised wild boar ragu and surprisingly amazing linguine with seafood. The pasta was a delightful surprise. Ended on a high note with a light and decadent crรจme brรปlรฉe. Ambiance was lovely too. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely a go to in Vail.
Great food, and great service menu and wine list. All fantastic. Plus the most glamorous owner.

Very nice restaurant but overpriced and did not live up to expectations. Pasta was not what everyone said it would be. Guess they never had Italian food in NYC or NJ.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I and our 2 adult children had a wonderful meal
My wife and I and our 2 adult children had a wonderful meal tonight at La Nonna. got a drink, did an appy and split a salad 4 ways, and were enjoying the vibe. then came my favorite part. with a big assist from our waitress, we ordered 4 different dishes to be served family style, with a bottle of wine of course! no problem for La Nonna. the 4 dishes were placed in the middle of the table, and we each had our own clean plate to load up as we chose. it took a while, but we finished it all off! so delicious and so many different flavors! i highly recommend La Nonna's, and get it family style for sure!
Be the first to ReplyLa nonna is understated from the outside but my wife and I
La nonna is understated from the outside but my wife and I spent our second evening here while we stay in Vail and we have to say from a food and service perspective it's one of the best restaurants we have visited in our two weeks here. It was always good in previous seasons but unlike a lot of other places that feel a little tired after a couple of covid years La Nonna is even better. On both visits so far we have had a super welcome from Heather, great cocktails at the bar, nice service but most importantly really good food. 100% recommended.
Be the first to ReplyVail has limited dining choices, so that may explain why
Vail has limited dining choices, so that may explain why these guys were almost 3/4 full. Or maybe they started their business kind of strong, and are now resting on their laurels. To share our impression in few words, our group did not see any appeal to this place.. The strict reservation policies were off-putting and the food and atmosphere are just not good. To give more detail: It felt poorly run, beginning with a bossy greeting from the coatcheck, to being ignored for several minutes while we stood at the host stand. Once seated details like low water glasses, empty cocktails glasses left on our table, the timing of being greeted and asked for our drink orders, food arrival times, feeling rushed and so on. The stand out worst dishes were the grilled seafood appetizer, which must not have had a hot enough cooking surface, because the seafood was chewy, rather than firm and charred from being cooked on high heat - and - the tiepido (tepid) appetizer was just that - so tepid and a bad combination of ingredients. The interior also felt very dated considering that we were told that it isn't an old restaurant. All in all, it was simply not an enjoyable experience and not worth the hassle.
Be the first to ReplyAnnoyed that we spent our last night in Vail here as it was
Annoyed that we spent our last night in Vail here as it was our most disappointing meal in regards to both food & ambiance. Food was below average at best. Very expensive considering the low quality and execution which is why I felt inclined to write this review. It's obvious this is not a well run restaurant. My pasta was gummy and salty (SO not worth the carbs!). The steak (TAGLIATA ai PORCINI) was tough and nervy. My friend ordered fish which was overcooked. Oh and our salad was so overdressed which is my boyfriend's pet peeve. Ambiance is dated- not sure how long this restaurant has been there but it sure needs a facelift. Again... with these prices, spend some money on the interior. Vail has a few great dining choices. This absolutely isn't one of them.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely meticulously made cocktails.
Food was enjoyable and well presented but the cocktails are what make this venue fun. The bartenders are friendly and masters at making amazing drinks.
Be the first to ReplyWe have been to Vail every year, and to many top
We have been to Vail every year, and to many top restaurants, this was the first disappointment.Food was great, but service was way below average. No bread, had to ask after 20 min while all the other tables had bread. Our server never checked on us after we got our meals, our drink glasses were empty the entire time. We would have liked another drink but she was busy talking to all other tables .. Asked for coffee, didn't get.. I could go on.I just think at this level of restaurant, it was unacceptable.
Be the first to ReplyI've been coming here with my fam forever.
We're Italians and have high standards for Italian food but this is a great food spot- with a couple service issues. The restaurant is located upstairs, with large windows and wide open space so it's a fun atmosphere. You definitely have to make a reservation to get in- I'm not sure if they even take walk ins. Notably, when my family member called about a reservation, they were exceptionally rude and unaccomodating of a party of 6- had to be either 5 or 7 (does not make any sense??). Despite this, our server was prompt. La Nonna's menu features several antipasto starters and salads. We got their daily special focaccia and calamari which were both great. Their pastas were awesome- we tried several items and all were clearly homemade. As a whole, we had a great experience, however there are some logistical issues with La Nonna's payment system as well that takes this restaurant from what would be a 5 down to a 4. We tried to pay with a prepaid Visa giftcard for a portion of the meal and the extra on credit card. Beware that this restaurant DOES NOT accept giftcards. This puts undue stress on the customer for no good reason, and the staff, including manager, were not accomodating of this. Overall, great food and atmosphere but be aware that staff may be unfriendly and unaccomodating.
Be the first to ReplyWe have been going to this restaurant for over 25 years
We have been going to this restaurant for over 25 years when it was Campo De Fiori. I called the other day to make a reservation and I honestly have never been treated so poorly by any establishment. The reservationist was so rude and so unprofessional - the food isn't that good to deal with nasty people! All I was trying to do was to make a reservation to patron the place and she was totally off-putting. You should really consider having better receptionist. People DO have choices!
Be the first to ReplyReservations are recommended but worth a shot to get in.
Got the vodka pasta with prosciutto (pretty good), husband the gnocchi (he loved it). Table enjoyed the foccacia, bruschetta (very fresh, very very good), and calamari appetizers. Cocktails and glasses of wine will run you $15-$16 per drink range, pastas $30+. Crรจme brรปlรฉe was good, I'd probably pass on the chocolate mouse (very small, mostly whipped cream) and tiramisu (more like a pudding, not traditional tiramisu). Fancy ambiance, coat check available. Waitress was lovely. I don't know if value was there, but it's also avail where everything is more expensive in general.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant came highly recommended and I was able to
This restaurant came highly recommended and I was able to get a last minute reservation for 4 at 8:45pm for our ski group. The place was pretty high end, had great atmosphere and included a coat check. We all ordered a drink each, shared an appetizer (MISTO MARE alla GRIGLIA) and pasta dish each. I didn't think the appetizer was anything to write home about and was rather bland if I'm being honest. I had the TAGLIATELLE VERDI al CINGHIALE and while the pasta was good, the portion was quite small. I believe its a nice restaurant for a date or special occasion but taste wise, it wasn't anything memorable considering the price range.
Be the first to ReplyVery good Italian place in Vail village.
If you don't have a reservation, you can always sit at the bar which is what my party did. Everything about the dinner was spectacular, the service, food, vibe, and timeliness. Expect to pay higher prices for the higher end quality. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped my party each pick our dishes for the night. I went with the TAGLIATELLE VERDI al CINGHIALE which was a green pasta with wild boar and it was delicious. However my favorite dish was my friend's who got the GEMELLI alla VODKA e PROSCIUTTO, their most popular dish. All the pasta is made in house and you could taste the freshness and quality. Highly recommend for Great pasta after a long day of skiing!
