Needs their Michelin Star Back!!!!
Great atmosphere, fantastic pairings, and impeccable service! Did the Chef's Tasting Menus with wine pairings - The sommelier was friendly and had lots of knowledge on the pairings. The server suggested the Wagyu for main courses which my partner did while I had the Prime eye of rib. Both were remarkable. Can't wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyLa Toque does not deserve Michelin rating
Hard to believe that Michelin would give La Toque in Napa, Ca a Michelin star. My wife and I dined at La Toque to celebrate our 20th anniversary due to the restaurant's Michelin rating. We've dined at many Michelin restaurants around the world including Thomas Keller's Per Se in NYC, Kenzo in Napa, Lin Lung Heen in Hong Kong, to name a few, and La Toque is not in their league. We ordered a bottle of wine and when the sommelier brought the bottle to our table, it was already uncorked. We've never purchased a bottle of wine at any restaurant where the bottle was not shown to us and then uncorked in front of us. We ordered the chef's signature carpaccio and it was bland and chewy. The tuna tartare did not taste fresh. The $110 New York Strip for two was not flavorable, nor tender and the fat was not trimmed. The most disappointed part of our dinner was the service. Although everyone wished us a happy anniversary when we were seated, no server, including the sommelier was warm or engaging. After our main course was served, no one came to our table to ask how our meal was or if we needed anything -- maybe because they knew a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. La Toque charges Michelin star prices, but doesn't deliver Michelin star food, wine, or service and even with Chef Ken Frank in the kitchen.

I was excited to wrap up our day in wine country with a Michelin star restaurant. I left feeling like they were a one-star-wannabe. Such a disappointment. I’ll start with the positive: My main was delicious The salad was delicious The little box of chocolates they gave was a nice touch Nice that they proactively asked days in advance what dietary restrictions we had. The little things that mattered: Fake flowers on the tables? Really?! Twice in less than two minutes one of our servers came to clear our plates and we weren’t done. One of our servers accent was so thick, after asking three times what we were eating for our amuse bouche we finally gave up and just thanked him. Our table was really scratched up - either buy new tables or cover them with linens. The rest of the experience: I didn’t realize this was in a hotel - would have preferred a more boutique dining experience. I felt like I was eating at any hotel restaurant (with a more refined menu) Our server was fine, but his quest for excellence felt forced vs being genuine. I prefer to take my time at a fine restaurant. I like to order my starter, enjoy, then order my main. They said the mains would take 45 minutes and we should order everything together. Everything came out in pretty close succession. The restaurant was barely occupied. Why the rush?! Will not eat here again.

Had a family emergency and needed to cancel within 24 hours notice, they were the most unaccommodating and unsympathetic as was a Robyn employee so unbelievably. Would never ever eat here. Disheartening awful experience.

It is hard to stand out in a culinary paradise like the Napa Valley, but La Toque not only overcomes that challenge, but has risen to the top of the pack when it comes to the finest of dining. From the moment you are greeted by the amiable and professional staff and are led into the dining room which reflects style and class, to the time you depart after a creative and delicious culinary experience, the evening is magical. There is no better chef than owner Ken Frank, who is usually on site (unusual for most of the “celebrity chefs” one hears about) overseeing all aspects of what is to come for his guests. He is an American pioneer in offering the best food and wine pairings on an ever-changing menu to take advantage of the freshest food available. On a given evening you might dine on Broiled Montauk Dayboat Skate Wing with Balsamic Brown Butter, Zante Currants, and Preserved Lemon (accompanied by2021 Vivier, Chardonnay, Gap’s Crown Vineyard, Petaluma Gap); Tortellini with Brentwood Corn and Duck Confit with Savory Chanterelle Parmesan Emulsion (2020 monthélie 1er Cru, le Meix bataille, Domaine Douhairet-Porcheret), or Roasted Rack of Lamb with Pecan and Purple Mustard Crust Tallegio Potato Aligot, and Olive Pepper Relish (2011 Syrah, Lady Rosa, Owen Roe, Yakima Valley). Sometimes caviar. Sometimes some of the world’s best truffles. My favorite? An amazing double cut veal chop with whatever wine Chef and Head Sommelier Mike Lee may have selected. There are options of a chef’s menu (vegetarian and non) and a la carte. The true singularity of La Toque is that it manages to be elegant, unpretentious, fun, and outstanding. No dining experience in Napa, or many other places for that matter, quite matches it.

Made our anniversary so memorable! Brought my girlfriend in for our 5th anniversary and did the chef's tasting menus, she's a vegetarian and they had a whole menu for her too. The wait staff was so kind and everyone wished us a happy anniversary, even the head chef! This definitely hit the mark for fine dining restaurants in Napa!

Best meal I've had in YEARS! Brought my family to La Toque restaurant in July and we all did the tasting menu with spectacular wine pairings. The rosti potato with caviar was a huge hit with my family and I personally loved the veal chop... mouth-watering! The atmosphere was top-notch and friendly as all the staff was very attentive. Out of all the fine-dining restaurants in Napa, this is my new favorite! Can't miss it!!

Very disappointing. Food was mediocre at best. Often over salted. Nothing interesting. Chewiest beef I’ve had. A bit stunned that this place earned a star. Wine pairing was poor. Obviously low cost, local wines. Choices were confusing at times. Service was comical. A guide to the worst times to clear the table and replace cutlery. I’ve never appreciated the art of great service as much as when experiencing the complete opposite. Run away!

Two thumbs up for the chief and the staff who attended us when we were having dinner at this place tonight. Not only it is my wife’s birthday, but it is also our fortieth anniversary all fall on the same day! I reserved the table a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant staff made a note our our reservation details. The experience we received was out of this world. Not only the staff was most warm and cordial, but the chief and his team were outstanding in every way! The foods were exquisite, and delicious, the service was top notch and professional. Though it was our first trip to a Michelin star restaurant, everything we experienced was worthy of the name and the rating! We enjoyed tremendously the professionalism and the warm attitude each and every staff member presented to us either working in the front or serving foods back and forth. I assume that is part of a Michelin restaurant to deliver. Nonetheless they did it and we felt truly special in our personal celebration. Just want to say thanks to the Chief and all his staff. Michelin star well deserved!
Be the first to ReplyNice Place - DIsappointing Dinner Overall
Dinner with my wife, at what we thought would be a dining experience to remember, which is was but for all the wrong reasons. Service was good, attentive but not over the top, first course French Onion Soup - Good but not hot enough Entree - the duck was warm at best, skin greasy - my wifes pasta was OK Overall a disappointing dinig experience and one that we will return to in the future

I was so excited to go here initially. I heard great things and the décor and ambience were lovely. But from the start, the food was underwhelming and it only got worse from there. We ordered the chef's specialty, the dry aged steak. At $110 for a 14 oz NY strip, we expected it to be exceptional. From the first bite, it was obvious something was wrong with the meat. I love dry aged meat and initially thought it was simply aged too long but realized on the second bite the meat was not just funky, it was spoiled. When we returned the steaks and insisted they be taken off the $1200 bill (there were 5 in our party) the acting manager Mike Lee rudely stomped off after making sure we were not taking the leftover steak home. We are in the midst of recovering physically and emotionally from a painful experience. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

We dined on a Saturday evening. There were 4 of us who did the tasting menu, of which 2 also enjoyed wine pairing. Every dish was beyond creative, beautifully plated and a symphony of fine flavors. The wine pairings were spot on, complimenting our food to perfection. The service was outstanding; informative and professional, yet friendly, not stuffy. We honestly could not have had a better experience. Outstanding evening of food and wine in a lovely atmosphere. We highly recommend LaToque and will be back!

Exquisite food and delightful service - what a meal! Every bite of our Chef’s Tasting Menu and Wine Pairing was remarkable. This is culinary art at its finest. While not as well known, La Toque is on a par with French Laundry. Chef Ken Frank has thoughtfully created dishes that blew our minds. We ordered both the regular and vegetarian tasting menus and the chef was able to accommodate my vegan preferences in every dish. We ordered cocktails before the meal - a fun and delicious array. Our servers were friendly and engaging and really knowledgeable about each dish. Maria was exceptional in her attention to our every need and sommelier Mike answered our questions and helped us to appreciate each of the wines he poured for us. I can’t say enough about our experience at La Toque. If you love the art of food, you must dine here!

Spectacular tasting meal. I opted for the vegetarian tasting, while my wife went with the standard tastings. The food was exceptional and we were definitely full at the end of the meal. They have a sommelier on site, who did a spectacular job pairing our food with wines. The staff did a great job of engaging, but not lingering and there was always someone around to fill water, replace napkins and take plates. Incredible experience and would definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyNo Way this is a Michelin Star Restaurant
Food great. Service just not even tolerable for a restaurant of this cost and caliber. Even speaking to management about the poor service did not help. We were there for 3 hours and no one came to our table for any reason in 30 minute increments. We asked for items such as wine or dessert menus and no one came back. Just dumbfounding. I’ve had better service at In-n-Out Burger.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible Service, Average Food
We were a party of 4, looking forward to the tasting menus: both the regular and the vegetarian. They were 7 course meals with two amuse bouches. Both menus had a couple of inventive, tasty dishes, but the vast majority of the food was pedestrian at best. The service was outstanding and personable. We would especially like to cite the sommelier who was knowledgable and provided us with extra tastings of wine he thought we might like. With a relatively low priced bottle of wine and some drinks before dinner, we paid with tip about one thousand dollars. We paid much too much for average food, no matter how excellent the service was. This restaurant has too much local competition to be rewarded.

I had a great experience here for our 10 year anniversary dinner. The black truffle sandwich was divine and the customer service was fantastic too. This was our first ever Michelin restaurant and it didnt disappoint!

One of the worst experiences I ever had. The make you bring in a vaccination card (September 2022) and are very rude, and the food is average to make the experience worst. Too many good restaurants in Napa, as don't waste your time and money on this place.
Be the first to ReplyNever going back
This place still requires vaccine cards even though THE CDC ISTSELF admiited that vaccines do not stop the spread of covid, and are minimally effective at all. One we dug out our proofs we were shown to a u shaped table for 6 people. We would have to all crane our necks to talk. The host said this was the only table available for our reservation….as we pass by a sea of emply round tables. I think this place tries really hard to be unwelcoming to people. We ended up getting a table at a much better restaurant that greeted us with champagne…couldnt have been more welcoming, with excellent food. We ended up having a spectacular night and I feel extra lucky. Upon reading other reviews of La Toque, most diners were wholly unimpressed with the food and would not go back. We feel we dodged a bullet. What a relief!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Food; Impeccable Service
The last meal I had that was this memorable was in 1963 in Paris. I was overwhelmed by the perfection, artistry and gastronomy of La Toque. Truffles, caviar, aged steak, imported cheeses and an amazing bottle of red wine made this a meal to die for. No matter how great a home cook you are you could never cook food even close to this in quality—and to be there for the fresh truffle festival in July at the restaurant added to the bliss surrounding the meal.

The chef’s menu with the wine pairing was exquisite! Most of the wines were from Europe, but one was from Coombsville (Napa Valley). This Michelin star restaurant is inside a hotel, but don’t let that scare you off. The setting was private and quiet, and the food was excellent. See photos for menu and dishes.

We dined here last Christmas Eve. The restaurant was decked out very festively, and (maybe due to the holiday), the staff was very friendly and upbeat. The tasting menu was excellent (including a vegetarian version for the vegetarian in our party), as were the wine pairings. We expected the usual upcharge suggestions, and we bit on one (a sort of truffle grilled cheese) that was very tasty. The restaurant definitely earned its Michelin star and is deservedly one of the best places to eat at in Napa.

Wonderful evening! Delicious food and friendly staff made my experience at La Toque perfect! Highly recommend La Toque while in Napa for your must do list. Our party ordered the tasting menu + appetizer + champagne…yummy! We brought our own wine

This was mine and my friends first time eating here. We had an early dinner reservation. Vaccination status was checked. The tables were socially distanced. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was great. But the fake flowers disturbed me a bit. The food was very flavorful and beautifully presented. The timing between courses was a bit slow, but it gave my friends and I time to converse. Parking onsite and valet were available.
Be the first to ReplyDon't go unless you want the tasting menu and have a lot of time to sit around
Maybe we ordered badly but this place just wasn't for us. It all started with the table. It was very poorly lit with three of the overhead lights burned out. We ordered and ate on the dark.
While a 2200 bottle wine list is impressive, trying to find anything using the tablet that we were given was a nightmare. We resorted to using our iPhones to look up the wine list online.
The waiter was excellent and did his best but our party did not fit their business model. We ordered a la cart and the dishes took 45 min.+ to be prepared. In a place with a choice of a la carte or a tasting menu, one expects that the a la cart items would be slightly larger portions. They weren't! The duck breast was about 1" X 3" for $46. Not good value for money! The taste was OK but not particularly special.
They asked more than once if we were celebrating anything and we said it was one person's birthday. Other than the host saying "Happy Birthday" they did nothing, so why ask?
Looking back on it, we should have probably had the tasting menu for $195pp. At least we would have had a meal, albeit even more expensive. I suspect their preference is to sell the tasting menu for the whole table and a la carte is an mere annoyance.
Not sure how they got a Michelin star?
