Great couples birthday dinner
Was first Michelin star experience and was not disappointed. Staff were very professional and friendly and the menu was very intriguing and exciting. For starters I had the English asparagus which was very rich and creamy, though quite difficult to eat with a knife and fork! For mains I had the lamb which was a rarity for me but it was well made and presented with a good amount of fat on the lamb. For desserts I had the mille feuille which tasted delicious and was something I had not tried before. We were pleasantly pleased to also receive a Happy Birthday small edible dish that we could share, and also were excited by the English red wine featured on the list which was quite good. All in all was a very memorable and lovely experience.
Be the first to ReplyReally disappointing - such poor staff - are customers an inconvenience in La Trompette?
Poor, poor, poor. Made to sit outside in the cold as they were "not ready'. No offer of water, coffee, drink whilst we waited for La Trompette to deign to take our money for a birthday lunch - gone downhill, used to excel at customer service - now it appears customers are an inconvenience - went to another Chiswick restaurant which could teach this establishment a thing or two.
Be the first to ReplyDon't bother. La Trompette has lost its way
Awful customer service. Arrived early for lunch and just told "we're not open". No - can we pop you in corner whilst we get ready.
Be the first to ReplyModerately priced, good quality food
Generally, a nice restaurant. The food was good and it was modestly priced. The salmon sashimi starter was light and had a nice, delicate flavour. The salmon itself was very fresh. However, it wasn't always easy to appreciate the delicate fish flavour; I felt the dressing was slightly too overpowering. Nevertheless, I think it was a fairly good dish! My main course of pork cheek with polenta was hearty and rich, though I would have preferred pomme puree or roasted potatoes instead of the polenta as it was rather bland and became slightly boring after a while. There was a slightly bitter taste I got from the dish that I didn't massively like. The pork itself was very tender, tasty and well-cooked. The pork crisps on top added a good amount of flavour and added some texture to the dish. It would have been better if I could have tasted the green mango and chilli that were advertised in the dish. The dessert was what really stood out. The waitress recommended the banana soufflé and passion fruit ice cream to me so I accepted the recommendation - a very wise and very good decision. The soufflé itself tasted sublime; the hearty, rich flavour of the banana along with its distinctive sweetness combined with the tangy flavour and acidity of the passion fruit ice cream - a perfectly balanced, delightful dessert is made! The chocolate truffles at the end were very nice and indulgent, bringing a good end to the meal.
Be the first to ReplySomewhat Bland. Major rethink required for the Menu,
We have been regulars since Trompette opened and have travelled throughout Europe visiting Michelin 3, 2 and 1 starred restaurants over thrity year. This was our third visit this year. In August 2022 we had possibly the best meal we have ever had at Trompette, so we eagerly anticipated our late December visit. This was possibly our least favourite experience. All three of us found that we had difficulty selecting courses as none of the choices offered appealed- the word settle for a dish is an odd one to use in a Michelin restaurant. Small portion sizes are a frequent complaint in such establishments but not last night. In fact the opposite was the case for the Foie Gras starter was too large and bland. The Pork Chop had at least 5/6 generous slices but was somewhat chewy and when you consider each slice was 5/6 mouthfuls you had a real trek ahead to chew your way through 25 to 36 mouthfulls of chewy meat. This dish was unbalenced and could have benefitted from a bit less pork and more vegetables to put it simply. Desserts were dissappointing and the Malt Ice Cream although good in itself was presented sitting on a cloyingly sweet caramelesque base. £260 for 3 was not unreasonable price wise as this included a fine bottle of Pinot Noir. Normally this would have been a fair price for a 1 Star establishment but not last night. Service as always was impeccable. We know there has ben a change in chefs between our previous visit in August this year and last night on the 30th of December, but the quality of the food and the selection offered is of real concern. Bland and unbalenced is not how you retain a Michelin star.
Be the first to ReplyMidweek lunch treat
A cold December afternoon - post Christmas and pre New Year. We were drawn there for the Daube. We were a little disappointed with the starters - the veloute was a tad bland and the cauliflower was a tad ordinary. The daube was lovely - extremely tender and tasty - beef had been well hung - almost tasted like venison. The prune dessert was very good. Unfortunately, the room was air conditioned and rather cool. I'd suggest wearing a vest and/or warm cardigan.. It dampened my enjoyment. Apparently, the room heats up when there are more people. And it did get a bit warmer, but not much. The price was £57.50 for three courses. There is the usual mark up for drinks and service, so our bill for two came to £180.00 The English breakfast tea costs £5.50 per person - I could not really say what it was, so that felt poor value. I would go again, but in a warmer time of year. I wish them well.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food
Cheese board, main, starter you name it excellent food and service! Been many times, love this place. Fine dining.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food but maybe not as good as some other 1 star places
Good points - It is really nice - the food is delicious and well portioned. We had the cauliflower and veal to start (both fantastic.) Followed by the sea bream (well cooked, however the overall flavour was good but not amazing) and the pork (very nice snd the black pudding tart was the only thing that really made me go "wow".) For dessert, we had the chocolate croustade and the Christmas pudding, which were both very nice but expected for a Michelin star restaurant -The service is great and friendly Less good points -We were there in December and it was a tiny bit cold at the window -It's a Michelin star restaurant and you pay Michelin star prices for food that some other places can do comparably for a bit less. We paid £200 total for 3 courses for 2 people, with only one cocktail and water. Don't get me wrong, the food is delicious but it's not Pollen Street Social and that ilk level were you are consistently amazed at what they're doing with the food -I had a mince pie martini and it was not great - the only truly bad point of the meal. It did taste like a mince pie but was too strong and not that drinkable Overall, it's really delicious food that's probably a bit overpriced - worth it to go once but I probably won't be back, choosing to instead try other places.
Be the first to ReplyDeserves more than one Michelin star.
My husband and I have been coming to La Trompette for about 6 years now and we have never been disappointed in any way. The food is excellent and so is the service. The decor is an elegant and interesting contemporary style . Staying there is a pleasure since the moment you enter. I highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyIt's Still Great
I've been a regular at La Trompette for many years. Went yesterday aware it's a new chef, Greg. Rest assured because it was one of my best visits here. The crab and scallop tortellino was absolutely delicious. Mains of daube of beef and venison likewise. I've not had venison better than this. Excellent desserts, good service, fabulous menu, and all round great cooking, this restaurant continues to be a gem.
Be the first to ReplyGreat value Michelin lunch
Visited for the lunch menu. Lovely dining room with outdoor sitting option if you prefer, located on a nice little off street from the main road. All staff very friendly and attentive, food is fantastic, really high quality. Muntjac dish was outstanding. Great value for lunch.
Be the first to ReplyArrogant and offhand staff spoil what is otherwise good food in an okay setting.
This has been sliding steady downhill for some years now. The food remains good and of a high standard but the staff, most especially the wine waiters are appallingly condescending. I have friends who complained to me about their treatment and I have experienced it first hand on my last visit. The wine sommelier and his assistant are pompous and condescending. They try to up sell and seem to think their primary function is to show off how much more they know about wine than you do. At over £200 per head this is now over priced and over rated. Avoid unless you like being spoken to like a small child.
Be the first to ReplyAs close to perfect as you can get
This was our second visit to La Trompette, the first since covid. We were delighted to find it as excellent as before. The restaurant was full and there was a good feel about the place, made all the better by the absence of music. Service was spot on, with someone always available when needed, but not overbearing. The food was perfect - imaginative, top quality ingredients, and expertly prepared. The wines, from the bottom end of the range, were not cheap, but they both had character.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect in every way.
Outstanding dinner. Faultless from the bread to the post-dessert truffles, but the Herdwick lamb will be remembered to our graves. Excellent, personable service.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent
Always exceeds exceptions. Incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable sommelier with wine priced to a reasonable multiple. Food is always exceptional and service unpretentious and attentive. Prices feel aligned to quality.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent
Have not been for a while so was delighted to see that the food was still amazing (best ever actually), and the service was of a very high standard. Will be back soon again!

Thanks for the best dinner in Chiswick..... very friendly and good stuff... delicious food ... Will back again .
Be the first to ReplyOld school excellence
Great service, food and ambience.
Always love This restaurant. It’s more the place for whizz, bang and boom. But come here for uncompromising modern French cooking. I think it’s excellent value for the quality you get and arguably you’d be paying much more if 5 miles further east.
The sommelier is on point too.
STILL MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT
For two years I was scared to go out. I had all three jabs but even so, between 2020 and 2021 I only left the house a total of six times. Now that I finally felt relatively safe enough to go back out there, it was only a mere matter of time before I returned to my favourite restaurant of all. Their incredible Maitre D, the lovely Patra, has now left which saddened me, but the brilliant and charismatic Kern has now returned after a long absence while he was at the Glass House in Kew, so I felt wonderfully relieved to see such a wonderful familiar face who used to look after us in the early 2000s.
Head chef and owner, Rob Weston, used to cook for me back in my days of being Marco Pierre White's best customer. He has lost none of his flair and today's lunch was like a master class in gourmet fine dining. Their fresh squeezed orange juice has to be the best in the world. Their fresh bread cooked on the premises makes you want to fill up before the starters arrive. I had a venison starter with small pasta in a rich michelin star sauce. The guinea fowl main was orgasmic, dancing a pirouette across my tastebuds. But their signature dish, the souffle deserves an award. I always have four scoops of ice cream with it. They think me crazy, but somehow the fluffiness of the souffle merges so perfectly with melting ice cream that the fusion creates my personal favourite dessert in this whole wide world.
No restaurant in my long history of fine dining, has ever made me feel so welcome and so appreciated. So it is my duty to respond with yet another attempt to bring the joy of my personal number one favourite restaurant to the world. Never was a michelin star so richly deserved. I have never had the slightest complaint.
I leave with one small request for Rob. When he worked for my old friend Marco, they had a dish, hot oysters cooked in their shells, with tagliatelli, champagne and cream. This the favourite dish of my entire lifetime. I would do anything for Rob to cook it for me once again. That would be the only one single thing that could make La Trompette any more perfect than it already is.
I say "Thank God" that this wonderful dining experience exists today.
Absolutely outstanding
Absolutely outstanding restaurant.
The quality and creativity of the food is fantastic, each dish a delight to the taste buds.
We were a party of 4, and mostly chose different dishes, which we all got to taste!
I know a menu is good when there are 3 or 4 dishes at each course that I could have chosen.
The service was efficient without being intrusive.
We brought two bottles with us and paid corkage which is an excellent option if you have a particular wine that you enjoy.
We did have cocktails to start and these too were excellent.
Couldn’t fault the meal in anyway and we’ll definitely be back. Even the bill was a pleasant surprise.
Exceptional neighbourhood restaurant
My partner and I visited here a few months ago and I was spurred to leave a review after having a terrible meal elsewhere and comparing the experience to La Trompette.
This place is exceptional, the food was the best I’d had in as long as I could remember and better than a lot of fancy places in town and the service was phenomenal too. Warm, friendly, knowledgeable staff that really know their stuff.
We can’t wait to go back soon!
Birthday Meal in late November
It had been a while since we visited a Michelin star restaurant so we were a little cautious on what to expect. From the get go the staff made us feel very welcome. We had a corner table but it was a busy night so didn't mind that so much. It wasn't cheap (the 3 course menu is £70 each) but it was worth it. We had scallop, and scorched mackerel for starter (the scallops won for me), pork and duck for mains (I thought my pork was sublime until I tried the duck), and mille feuille and banana souffle for desserts ( I only knew what mille feuille was from GBBO the night before!). I was a little bemused by all the different staff coming to the table but everyone was super relaxed and made the evening flow well. Overall, we loved the experience and would visit again.
Be the first to ReplyJust amazing!
A big thank you to the staff in the kitchen, the staff waiting the tables and the owner/ manager. Credit to you all for making this place a success.
The food was absolutely sublime. Every. Single. Mouthful. I didn’t want it to end.
We were in the area for a Sipsmith Gin Distillary Tour and so went to La Trompette afterwards and what a smart move that was!
The staff were attentive without being oppressive. The atmosphere was just perfect - tranquil, reserved and classy enough whilst still remaining unstuffy or restrictive. The charming owner was very visible and frequenting the tables to make us feel part of the family - and we did.
We are already looking at our calendars to visit La Trompette again. It is not local to home, but worth the journey I feel. I could have made any choice from the menu for any of my courses.
Well done to owner and staff for doing everything right!
We will be back!
Incredible through and through. From the starter, to the main to the dessert. Our starters were misplaced and given to a wrong table and the owner offered the starter and the dessert on the house, as well as adding a delicious linguini truffle course as a treat.
We will definitely be back, we wouldn’t mind paying the full price, as this place deserve all the praise it can get. Lovely staff, food, mood. Nothing badly that can be said about it. Thank you for tonight!
Forever amazed by the new flavors
Its my fifth time dinning at this Restaurant and I always see something new on the menu .
The mix of flavors is really satisfying, today the mushroom soup with onion brioches , the warm squash salad was a 5 star winner .
