The pizza was very good.
But this is Napoli. It has to be. And so are many other places here. And taste is like beauty: it's in the eye of the beholder. We didn't particularly like the crust soggy and chewy. A bit of crunch would've been nice. But that's according to your taste. What surprised me was while paying at the front, the waiter came over with his hand open a foot away from me and said "service not included. Tips!" I looked at him for a split second and promptly gave over the change. It wasn't worth asking why they were asking, no, demanding, tips. We're here to have a good time. But that was a major turn off. I sure hope they don't import that awful American custom. It has really gotten out of hand in the US.

Great pizza! Might be the best I've had however the wait in line and the pizza went over 90 min other then expect to wait!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service.
The pizza is amazing and it's worth a drive for it. I also had some non-pizza items which were also great. I highly recommend this restaurant and it has a great atmosphere as well.
Be the first to ReplyBest Napoli Pizza Hands Down.
We have a L' Antica in Santa Barbara in Southern California. We have eaten there 3 or 4 times. We couldn't wait to compare the US version vs Naples. Hands down Naples is the winner. Not even close We will be back soon.

4.5/5 One of the most famous pizzerias in the world, would it lived up to the hype?? I had to try it. So I have to say I am used to American pizza which has meats, and different toppings. Once you get used to Margherita or just accept the fact that you simply can't get toppings on your pizza you're on your way. The first time I passed by here there was a long line but I was heading somewhere else so no problem. When I finally went to eat, about 7:30PM I figured out the system, there were 2 lines one where you were given a number and waited to be seated and the takeout line. Since I was by myself I opted for takeout as the place I was staying at was only a 5 minute walk away. I was here in the offseason so it was mostly Neapolitans with just a couple of tourists so the wait for a table was about 45 minutes+ while I waited about 5 minutes to get inside to place my order and then waited 10-15 minutes or so to pick up my pizza. The menu is really simple only 4 different pizzas to choose from: Margherita- tomato, fior di latte cheese, oil, basil Marinara- tomato, oregano, garlic, oil Cosacca- tomato, pecorino cheese, oil, basil Marita- half Margherita and half Marinara I opted for the Margherita and Cosacca. While Italian pizza is meant to be eaten with a knife and fork, if it is cut into slices I am going to pick it up to eat it. Both pies were excellent, you can taste the fresh tomatoes and cheese. The crust is very thin (which is why you eat it with a knife and fork duh!) which is how I like my crust. At only €5,50 per pizza it makes it all that much better. I have been told that you should not wait in line too long for a pizza in Napoli because there is always another good pizzeria just around the corner. I would recommend waiting a little to try the pizza here because it really is that good, probably the 2nd best pizza I had in all of Italy. In fact, I ate here twice while in Napoli. I give it 4.5 stars out of 5, rounded up to 5.
Be the first to ReplyThe classic! Do you need to go here? Yes.
Will the pizza change your life? Probably not. It's a small, super casual spot, but the waiters are quick and friendly and the pizza comes to you piping hot.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing! Old school pizzeria.
.. where it all started! It a pick up only place that will keep you dreaming about the pizza fir the rest of your life. Order one pizza per person, trust me, they seem big but they are so light and delicious you can eat 10 of them and want more lol

In Naples, where pizza began! This is the second oldest pizzeria in Naples, and the pizza is OUTSTANDING! Get there early...the wait gets longer as the day progresses. The dine-in restaurant opened at 11:00---we were already #39! We opted for the take-away line, which opens at 11:30. We waited in line for about 15-20 minutes before placing our order of 2 Margherita pizzas; the pizzas took about 30 minutes. It was well-worth the wait! One pizza is perfect for two people. We were lucky to find a little table on the street about a block away to enjoy our Neapolitan pizzas with some cold Peroni beer! This was probably the best pizza I've ever had!!!

Mama Mia! We were very fortunate to spend a few weeks in the Mediterranean and pizza in Naples was one of our planned culinary experiences. We used Yelp to find this outstanding authentic Neapolitan pizza restaurants. We got here around 11:30am and there was already a long line. awe opted to get two carry out margarita pizzas and it really didn't take too long. Maybe 20 minutes we found a street vendor down the street who gave us a table if we purchased drinks from him. Perfect! We ordered 4 Peroni Beers and opened the boxes. The pizza was delicious! Excellent! What a great experience to get pizza in Naples, Italy...the birthplace of PIZZA! . eccellente! Ciao!

Elizabeth Gilbert had it right when she said thin, doughy, chewy. She had it wrong when she said yummy. It was tasteless and gooey. Ugh.
Be the first to ReplyWho knew this place was the birth place of the Margherita
Who knew this place was the birth place of the Margherita pizza! Well I sure didn't when I stumbled upon this place close by my B&B. There was a crowd obviously and the whole process to order your pizza is kind of chaotic. There is a guy handing out numbers if you are going to dine in. And then the instructions to do take away or take out aren't exactly clear. Any who after asking a few folks I figured out the take away option. Now I visited twice during my stay in Naples. And the first time I got my pizza in 5 minutes. The second time more like 15 mins. Anyway I got the Margherita pizza on the 1st visit and the half/half the 2nd visit. The pizza was v v good and hot, and honestly it is best when you eat it right away. I basically scared down my 2nd pizza on the walk home. Sooo good!

There was a crowd/line outside when we arrived which made us e cited to try this pizza. We placed our pizza order snd it was ready really fast. It came out piping hot and juicy. This pizza was phenomenal. It was simple, just sauce and cheese... we rolled the pizza up and eat every piece. Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyNot much to say about this place that hasn't already been
Not much to say about this place that hasn't already been said. Perhaps the best pizza in Naples, and if Naples has the best pizza in the world, then maybe it's the best in the world? Service was quite prompt for takeout and even the wait for dine in seems long but goes by quickly. Staff was quite friendly and the interior was clean with plenty of seating and decor with attestations. Additionally watching them make the pizza was truly an experience. Once seated the pizzas come out incredibly quick. They have four offerings, all of which are exceptional with a thin yet doughy, soft, and crisp exterior crust cooked to perfection and the perfect ratio of toppings. Can't say much more but one truly does have to experience this to understand the greatness of such a place. No matter what you've heard, you will not be let down, rather nothing can really prepare you for how good this pizza is and how afterwards you will forever live craving it and constantly being a bit let down by any subsequent pizza. Just go, if you are ever in Naples, go.
Be the first to ReplyMy absolute favorite pizza.
Simple and yet so complex with the flavor. I love the sauce, cheese, crust... literally everything about this pizza is amazing. There's always a line to be seated because this place is well known, but worth the wait and honestly they get people in and out pretty quick. I literally go here every time im in Napoli

We actually visited Napoli this summer just to visit this pizzeria from EAT PRAY LOVE. This is a traditional family pizzeria with one of the most famous Neapolitan pizza in Italy. We took a number in order to receive a table and the wait was not as long as we expected given the amount of people waiting. We ended up waiting less than 30 minutes and even the service we received was super fast and efficient. The price is worth every penny it was literally 5 euros! NOT overpriced at all which is unexpected due to the place having so much tourists. As for the pizza itself it was not the best I had in Italy but the ingredients and crust are tasty. On the menu there was less than 5 pizzas and I had half Margherita and half traditional. I enjoyed the pizza very much. If you find yourself in Naples it's an experience for sure!

Pizza marinara and Margherita were phenomenal, service was friendly and the waiter even remembered my order! I came back that same day (yes I went twice) ambiance was cozy warm and casual nothing too fancy, 30/20 minute wait in the low season, so if visiting during summer, prepare to wait. Definitely worth it
Be the first to ReplyLa Antica de Michelle is arguably the most popular pizza
La Antica de Michelle is arguably the most popular pizza place in Naples in large part due to being featured in Eat Pray Love. My wife and I visited on a recent trip. When we arrived there was a large crowd of people gathered around the restaurant. We quickly learned it was a mix of people waiting to be seated and waiting on to go orders. Since we were staying at a hotel down the street we decided to take ours to go since this was likely the quicker option. The staff would not even give a timeframe for those waiting to be seated. We waited about 30 minutes for our to go order. We ordered the Margherita and Marinara pizzas. The crust on both pizzas was soft, savory and lightly chewy. The Margherita had flavorful tomato sauce with chucks of soft mozzarella. The Marinara was a flavorful mix of spices and garlic. Overall, this was authentic and quality napoleon style pizza.

World class margherita pizza for 5 euros?! Yes please! We had a wonderful experience here. We were eating on American dinner time (7 pm), so luckily we beat the dinner rush. Their seating system is efficient - just grab a ticket and wait for your number to be called. Once seated inside, it barely takes any time between ordering and receiving your piping hot pizza fresh from the brick oven. The crust is THIN, so I found that 2 pizzas was the perfect portion for 2 hungry diners. The pizza was wonderful - not overhyped! Pairs well with Peroni. :) Can't wait to return here next time I'm in Napoli!

Best pizza ever! The line is super long but definitely moves quickly and is worth the wait. We were here in the summer and the Italian summers are no joke, be prepared with some water and a fan if you are tempted to wait outside in line. The menu is tiny with only a few options but simplicity is really key to why this pizza is so great. The price can't be any lower and the service was decent for how busy they were. Definitely get one to go on your way out!

We got this recommendation from our driver for this part of the trip. He mentioned this is his favorite place, and the place that everyone feels is the best, for the best value, so we obliged.Turns out this is where presidents go, and plenty of famous people (we saw a few well known models here after fashion week). The food was the best priced food I've had (5 euros for a whole pizza!) the quality was incredible.
Be the first to ReplyNever ate such a simple yet flavorful pizza.
Loved it! The wait was worth it. The experience started from picking up a number then get called after an hour wait then eating inside the pizzeria. Just a few tables, many people working and pictures of the owners family, Julia Roberts and Maradona.

Glad I read the reviews! To minimize the wait, grab a pizza to go and scurry across the street to snag an outdoor table at the bar to order a beer. Incredible, simple ingredients. Who would have thought pizza without cheese would taste so good! Def a required stop if you've read the book, Eat,Love, Pray.
Be the first to ReplyWorth the hype.
That's all I can say the third option on the menu is the best. With a cold beer. Enjoy!

Line wasn't too long for take out so I thought I would grab one. Waited over an hour after I ordered and paid, the girl next to me literally fainted. Got a pizza box soaked through and pouring grease out of the side and a mediocre pizza. The place across the street is much better, don't know how this place has a Michelin star. Not worth it
