L'Assiette Paris Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent Cassoulet, great service!
I had the Cassoulet - which was cooked perfectly! The beans were soft, but not too soft, the meat was fork tender, and the wine - Clos de L’Ours - complimented the meal just as the server had said. It was a memorable evening and the service was attentive and courteous. I highly recommend making a reservation, or maybe you can show up just as the restaurant opens to stand a chance. Worked for me, but the place was packed and every seat was taken. This out of the way place is the perfect restaurant to go to if you are trying to avoid the tourist trap places in front of the metro stations. You will have a great dinner at a price that you may find reasonable. Value for money - yes it is a bit on the pricey side but it is well worth it!
A fine, fine Dinner at L’assette, Paris
I have eaten in Paris, many many times. A group of us ate at L’assiette last night. The meal and service were exceptional. I cannot wait to return. In particular the lamb dish was superb
Excellent cassoulet and off the beaten tourist path
We (two couples) ate here for dinner. We chose L’Assiette because another friend who lives in the neighborhood recommended it, and we wanted to try proper cassoulet. :) Definitely make a reservation, as the space is small and popular! Having said that, we had a great table and enjoyed a very nice evening without feeling rushed. We had a charcuterie plate to start, then delicious cassoulet paired with an excellent recommended bottle of wine. Service was great in that it was efficient and then let us get on with eating and socializing. We were quite stuffed by the end but thoroughly enjoyed straying quite a bit off the beaten touristy path for an evening with good food surrounded by locals. Highly recommended.
Very good cassoulet
The cooking was very good for both the cassoulet and the vol au vent. The escargot was excellent as well. A couple issues: 1. Prices are high for this kind of cooking. I don’t mind the limited menu, but basically you have three stewed or winter comfort mains, and a fish of the day. Margins on that cassoulet must be 300%. 2. Waiter knocked over our bottle of wine spilling half of it on the floor. Sure, he apologized but that was it. Overall, the place was full and appeared to be nearly 100% tourists. For this reason alone, I wouldn’t recommend management change a thing.
Cassoulet in Paris
I chose this restaurant because when I did an internet search for "best cassoulet in Paris" this was the first restaurant to come up. It's a bit of a trek to get there. The food was pretty good, and I had the cassoulet which was well done. The service was very good, and we had a pleasant evening dining there.
Very disappointed
The reception was correct after however sending 3 confirmation emails, a credit card imprint and a threat of debit. The decor was minimal and quaint. As a starter we ordered a pâté-croute (€21 for a slice of around 5mm), then we let ourselves be tempted by the famous cassoulet which was sure to delight 2 people. In fact for the beans no problem but as for the meat it was really reduced to a minimum and certainly not consistent with the photos on the site. This restaurant needs a big freshening up on all levels. Big disappointment, we will not go back.
Failed evening
Muscular welcome, we come for the cassoulet. Rich in beans, poor in meat (cut with a microtome*) despite the 6 announced in the press. Very expensive wines, from the cheapest on the list 50€ they had not been delivered :-( A hefty bill, a missed evening... It was the night they should have kissed me because I'm never going back there again. * microtome= device allowing very fine cutting of 2 to 25 microns.
A delight ! We will return there to taste everything. Because the menu is so delicious.
We had a great time. Tasty cuisine. Well done cook. Efficient service and good choice of wines. The menu is also very interesting.
HOME COOKING
Home cooking and fresh produce but at slightly high prices. Ditto for the wine list which starts at 50 euros, would deserve one or two wines at 25/30 euros if only to attract a younger clientele… Excellent cassoulet, the house specialty, to share with 2 especially if you take starters. Desserts, a treat. Impeccable service, very attentive sommelier.
A big disappointment, at a high price
An overpriced restaurant for average quality food, despite rave promises on its website. In the homemade cassoulet, its "flagship" product, I did not see the "six meats" promised on the restaurant's website, at most one or two, lost in an ocean of white beans; for dessert, the floating island tries in vain to satisfy the customer. But let's recognize that the candied mackerel as a starter was more sought-after and satisfying to the eye and palate of the customer, if not his wallet. And why serve gigantic portions of cassoulet? This establishment lives on an overrated and unjustified reputation.
Average and expensive
The plate is tasty and well served, however there are quite a few negatives: the slates are not up to date, bottles of wine are at least 55, sorry for wanting a wine by the glass. The unpleasant waiter tells me: I have lots of things, I prefer to decide. In summary the service needs to be improved, agree to pay a lot but it was not enchanting
Long wait for my cassoulet
We were extremely pleased with the welcome we received. Of the three of us, only one ordered the cassoulet which had been highly praised in the NYT. No e of us ordered a first course. What left us disappointed was the long wait for our food —- over an hour which is not acceptable. Their reason was that the cassoulet had to cook. We assumed that it was already cooked but just need to be reheated in the oven. In any case, they should have alerted us to the long wait. My trout with leeks was delicious but the trout was scanty. I have NEVER been served such a small portion of fish anywhere. Since I am not a tourist, I might return just to see if they could get everything right the second time.
Great food great service
Great good and great service . Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic French food . Value for money . For sure we will come back again .
Good but expensive
Good traditional cuisine revisited, but a little expensive for modest portions. A sommelier (unusual for a small house) offers wines (possibly by the glass) but without specifying the prices. We notice it when we add it, it's too salty.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
