Le Bilboquet Sag Harbor Reviews from The Last Year
Always a great setting and thought the food and service was
Always a great setting and thought the food and service was better this summer than previous visits. Got the palm beach salad and tuna app. Both good. LOVED the non-alcoholic ginger drink. So yummy. Has a good glass of wine too for lunch.
Mediocre pricey food and very pretentious .
Good "people watching" of plastic pretentious at its best . 5 stars for location and the servers were great . If you're not dressed the way the captain thinks you should be you are not seated at a nice table ...despite plenty of tables available . Not that it matters but we were driving a Porsche since my husband is a car enthusiast....but of course they had no idea... we were not wearing the "designer" clothing and could feel the. disapproval . Starving so stayed Should not have .
Discriminates. Horribly ruined my wifes birthday with discriminatory practices and socially ignorance.
Horribly ruined my wife’s birthday by discriminatory practices, social arrogance and societal ignorance. Horrible management skills! It was my wife’s birthday, we had a reservation, they first seated my family (5 of 6 of us) yet they turned me away upon my arrival after I parked my car because my $100 pair of "Dress Shorts, nice dress shorts"" I was wearing, were supposedly not acceptable or good enough for them. The rude uncaring Maitr'd insisted I go to a store down the street to buy pants or can go home to change! I said that it would take me 40-60 minutes to go home at least and would take just as long to go buy pants somewhere, but he didn't even care it was my wifes birthday and the gravity of ruining a family dinner we had planned. Please keep reading, this story gets even worse. They had originally seated my family in a tucked away corner outside deck far away from anyone who would have even cared what I was wearing sitting at a table, with white table cloth that would have hidden my legs anyway. After the Maitr'd was not budging, I asked if I can buy any pants, he said yes, "any pants will do"! I asked if they had any extra pants I can use or buy, "no". So,ok, one more time I said "any pants, even ugly pants?", he said Yes any pants. However then the other manager walked over to tell me "No, not just any pants, they must be very nice pants". Wait, Keep reading, it gets better now and once I visited the internet it gets even more unbelievable. So, after 20 minutes of of begging them for an exception since maybe we made an honest mistake, we had to leave the restaurant. On the way out I asked other patrons if I was dressed nicely enough to eat there, a resounding "Yes". Other patrons said they didn't care if I had dress shorts on, said my family looked lovely. NOW, ah ha, when I later went on their website, the dress code is far from being exact. It focuses mainly on not wearing "beachwear" (which I was NOT wearing beachwear for dinner with my beautifully dressed family). The website goes on to say No Tee-Shirts, No Baseball Caps, No shirts with political sayings, sports teams, (unless you won the superbowl). It doesnt say "you must wear pants by the way! SO, here is where it gets better -- I noticed on facebook that very same weekend they let is a family where a 20-ish young man had Shorts on! That weekend Chris Cuomo the new anchorman was in the restaurant wearing a baseball cap and a tee-shirt with a fishing company advertisement on it! and on that weekend and that evening there were people wearing Tee-Shirts! There are pictures on facebook to prove this! There is a man eating dinner with faded jeans and a tee-shirt on, yet the manager lied to me by saying I needed to buy very nice pants! So, Why so horribly my wife’s birthday if this was the case? By the way, I went next door to buy pants and the shop workers laughed and said "Ugh, the snobs next door turned you away?" she says "they are rude and have power to hurt people at their whim!" She said nobody living here in Sag Harbor area cares if you wear shorts or pants, especially in summer!, it's baloney"! So, to end my long sad story I will say guess Now I know why it is NOT really a 5 star restaurant, it has selective policies that discriminate against some people at their own whim yet let other people in, people with more money maybe, people with power maybe. My wife and mother-in-law supported Bilbo when it first opened in NYC as a fledgling hole-in-the way start-up restaurant however we and my entire family and all of my friends and extended family will never ever ever eat at any Bilboquet restaurants ever again! We are working professionals, college and masters degrees, my kids are lovely, and we eat at much better places than this snobby place with poor management skills. What I was wearing is acceptable summer attire for dinner at exclusive country clubs, and a different white table cloth nice restaurant down the street who came to our rescue that evening after I told them what happened, however so sad that this rude Bilboquet managers wanted to be in complete control and inflexible and just be horrible human beings to turn us away after we had reservations planned for weeks! Please DON'T eat at Le Bilboquet anywhere, they must learn how to be fair and treat people kindly otherwise this behavior on their part will continue to fuel the social injustices and discriminatory practices that our world is struggling with today! By the way, it's been a week and no reply from their Corporate Management Team either! Totally unprofessional for sure.
We enjoyed food, ambience and customers are nice.
Overall Avra scene , however, must admit, McDonald's most likely has friendlier service.
Hmmmmmm…
I couldn’t believe after spending over $300 on dinner for two people we got drinks at the bar and wanted to sit on pretty much empty outside the server who just got $50 cash tip told us we can’t sit there. I’m like ok we had dinner. Where can we sit outside with our drinks besides the bar inside. Finally some guy with a goatee who initially said we could not sit there asked us what table we want point to any of them and we can sit there. Confused about the change we finally enjoyed our drinks outside. Originally we asked for an outside table but were told because of an upcoming storm that never arrived we were squeezed between two tables of people when there were lots of empty tables. Confused. I went few times to Bilboquet in New York and had a much more pleasant experience than being shuffled like a herring after spending high bucks. Just to compare the night before we went to Tutto and everything went great. Food delicious and prompt polite service.
I mean look, it's manily a day party place.
I do like it, the food is alright and they maintain the standard in NY, Palm Beach and other locations. We had the tuna tartare, brqnzino, dessert, and drinks. It primarily a party place rather than exceptional gastronomy. But its a nice ambiance for a brunch party to see and be seen. The server was pleasant and professional.
Le Bilboquet gets 5 stars for service and the atmosphere
Le Bilboquet gets 5 stars for service and the atmosphere but the food fell short. We made a reservation and were seated right away near the window with a great view of the dock and the boats. It is a great place for a sunset. The staff was extremely attentive and everyone was able to answer questions/grab more drinks etc. (Not just our own waitress). The apps were good. We had mussels and the tomato salad. The mussels were a huge portion because it normally comes as an entree. We had salmon, lamb chops and the Branzino for 2 as mains. Everything was good but not out of this world. Unfortunately the Branzino was fishy and lacked any flavor. It comes out as a full fish and then it is filleted at the table. They could use a some seasoning or sear on the Branzino bc it was very bland. Otherwise we enjoyed our meal. For the price though, the mains need to be better. We will be back but probably only for apps and drinks.
Caveat Emptor
Totally disappointing experience! From the subpar table to the $16 bottle of still water, this restaurant overpriced and underdelivered. The food was good but not wow. Their website did not post menus or prices. That should have been my red flag!
The food was bad, and the service was rushed.
We received our drinks an hour late. Despite their promise to cover a second round due to their initial mistake, we were charged for it. Make sure to double-check your bill!
So disappointing, yet another example of pompous attitude
So disappointing, yet another example of pompous attitude that results in a negative review. Came for lunch 2:20, there's a 2:30 reservation I didn't take online cause the whole patio outside is empty . The two girls look at me in under Armour shirt and shorts and say you need reservation and won't seat me based on how I look. I parked my Lamborghini across the street, if I pulled up front would they then let me dine? Ridiculous that you're still judged based on your watch, car and clothing and the whole restaurant is empty on a Tuesday Have eaten at the Palm Beach location and NYC which are both amazing experiences ,these girls are hired to give great customer service not be pompous from the first greet and not seat you.
Best Salade Niçoise I had in a long time.
The service was really attentive and the drinks were amazing. Always a pleasure to come here. Highly recommend one of the best restaurants in Sag!

We had a beyond lovely evening! We asked the host for a nice table as it was our first time. We waited a few minutes and then they sat us right on the water! Service was amazing. We didn't finish our wine and they let us take it to the bar to enjoy. Everyone was lovely, staff was amazing, and food was: drinks were really good! Expensive yes, but we enjoyed it :) our server was Kristi and he was phenomenal!!
Literally the worse, most pretentious place in all of the
Literally the worse, most pretentious place in all of the hamptons. the maitre d is pretentious, arrogant beyond words acting like the third rate food is a michelin starred restaurant. the local wait staff is treated like dirt. it is amazing this still attracts anyone. save the multi hundred dollar disaster and get a happy meal at mcdonald's - you would be better off!
Disgusting service and poisonous drinks
Stay away! The rudest staff. Poisoned by their drink. Bad service. Drinks are 40$ and up. They treat you like garbage there. Go to calissa. Much much much much more fun and food is excellent.
Oui oui Bilbo .
. yep it's a French bistro from New York with sometimes a attitude but it's funny

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
