Classy Restaurant in a vibrant neighborhood
Enjoyed a great dinner with friends at this super popular place in Brooklyn. The menu has a large variety of choices and the service is excellent. Will definitely come back!
Be the first to ReplyDo not eat at the Crocodile in Brooklyn, New York.
The restaurant is attached to the Wythe hotel (do not stay at this dump). Do not eat at this restaurant. The food is overly salted, not seasoned well, not fresh, and the wait staff will get your order mixed up. They appear to be nice but do not understand English and get upset when they mess up your order. I also ordered hot coffe which came to cold, now this is a simple request. I ordered for room service, disasterous and Tyrone at the front desk of the hotel/restaurant tried to humiliate me when I requested a credit. I did not eat any of the food, not what I ordered and it looked gross. I personally returned the food. I had eaten at the restaurant the previous day with friends and everyone was dissatified with the food. I did the room service for convenience, what a mistake.

We had dinner here. Very nice service and very good food. Large dinner servings and very tasty (try chicken and fries) Nice ambience and vibe. Everything was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyAn exceptional fine dining experience!
I have been living in New York for over 10 years and never have I ever experienced this level of service at any restaurant like at Le Crocodile. This places ticks every box - impeccable service, welcoming staff, delicious food and pleasant ambiance. There is not even the slightest thing I can suggest them to do better. WOW!
Be the first to Replyhigh end breakfast
we came for our sons birthday breakfast! The look of the place is enough! You feel like in a another timezone. Breakfast was good. Very attentiv staff and the mimosas are to die for! we will come again!
Be the first to ReplyStellar Ambience, Service, Food........Wow
Dined here for a birthday celebration as we were in town for a mini-reunion of siblings. We stayed in a lovely Airbnb place in the Williamsburg area which was so perfect. Loved the modern/old world charm of the restaurant decor. Loud, but not tremendously bad. Attentive service, but not overly so. Sommelier did an awesome job with wine selection, so personable and knowledgeable. The food was divine!! We got warm crusty bread with French butter. Ugh! For dinner, I had the Trout on a bed of white asparagus & marconas, one bite and I dropped my fork on the plate and savoring the superb taste of the well prepared fish. I melted. My son (who had lived in NYC before, and knew just where to dine)....Wow, started with Frisée Salad with Poached Egg & Smoked Eel, very refreshing. He also had the Asparagus with Morels prepared with fava bean pesto. Others had the Halibut with Beurre Blanc, delicately prepared and so light. Oh my gosh and dessert. The birthday boy was treated to a chocolate mousse, but we also ordered the Creme Brûlée, both were divine (again, I use that word). Would definitely come back when in town again.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent - the food is perfect in every way!
Great spot to eat a donut first as it was brunch. A very lovely long room. Perfect menu with many choices. Terrific Asparagus, perfect fries. The room is full of light and beauty. Well worth the effort to get here. Would love to go again this Sunday!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food!
My son who resides in Brooklyn made reservations for our party of 4 and we were immediately seated. I got the Duck which was delicious and just prior to our meals being served the waiter bought us some fresh bread that was great. My wife got the roasted chicken and she loved it with fries, I noticed that most people around us had also ordered the chicken which appeared to be the favorite. I don't understand why NY/Brooklyn restaurants don't serve iced tea, it's either water or alcoholic drinks. guess it's a NY "thing"! I highly recommend this restaurant and the duck as an entree! Prices are moderate but worth it.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing lunch with my husband at Le Crocodile
Enjoyed a lovely lunch with my husband at Le Crocodile at the Wythe Hotel. The location is beautiful and the staff is friendly and attentive. Do not leave without trying their Mushroom Pate OR the Steak Frites which were out of this world. I can't wait to return to this lovely restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyWorthy of "Prom Night" - a Memorable Meal at Le Crocodile
Remember "Prom Night?" That was the night all the stops were pulled out; you dressed in your dreamiest duds, hitched a cool ride, and were treated to (or paid for...) the most fabulous dinner you could afford - in a magical, energetic setting. That's what eating at Le Crocodile was like! Our FABULOUS and friendly server Michael gave us tips on what his favs were, and they did not disappoint. We were presented with a seafood starter dilemma: the Jonah Crab or the lemony Scallops. We opted for the tangy Scallops, sliced and served in a large shell atop an icy hill. We added a pasta: the INCREDIBLE "Orzo Cacio e Pepe," which featured an al dente blend of regular and squid-ink flavored orzo, delicately coated with a velvety Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese sauce. We ordered three "Plats Principaux" for the group to share. One dish was the Roast Chicken with Herb Jus and Frites, which came highly recommended by some of our group's best friends. They were so right! The white meat was tender and moist, roasted to perfection, and tasty. The portion was large enough to share and take some home, too! The accompanying pommes frites passed the "picky-about-his-fries husband test:" He said he never had better - thin, light, and crispy! The duck connoisseur in our group pronounced as perfect the Burgundy Duck with Pear and Pancetta. A smaller portion, the Trout "Almondine" with Celery Root and toasted Marcona almonds melted in your mouth - with every mild buttery bite. Our server Michael's genial personality and piquant humor added "extra spice" to our meal! His advice and knowledge about the dishes and the ingredients elevated our dinner into an "experience." Not wanting us to leave before trying the seafood dish we also considered, he treated us to a taste of the Jonah Crab with Avocado and Yuzu Kosho. When we return, that will be number one on the list. Just amazing! We're so thankful we got the chance to indulge; thank you so much, Michael! So, when you're in New York, treat yourself (and your best date) to an evening soirée worthy of your fondest "Prom Night"memory: a dinner at this charming place!

atmosphere, service, menu all top of the line without making you feel intimidated john, our server, was spot on with recommendations and knowledge of menu, drinks and wine
Be the first to ReplyGreat for a casual lunch
Blond wood bar and room in a converted industrial building - nicely done. Old rafters and amazing hardware has been left exposed. Booths and tables are available as is bar seating. Croque-madame was very good. French fries were excellent. Leeks appetizer was very unusual and very very good. Excellent cappuccino.
Be the first to ReplyA quick bite to eat
The restaurant was full but we missed our booking at another place so were hoping we could pop in somewhere quick. The front of house staff managed to squeeze us in at the bar which we were very grateful for! I had the french onion soup which was delicious. After dinner we had a couple of margaritas mixed by Andrew who gave a wonderful service. My only qualm is that they could do with closing the internal door that opens to the lobby - the cold is really biting and the draft comes right through to the bar. Overall I definitely recommend!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, such a friendly team, we kept coming back for more
We visited while staying in Brooklyn in October 22. We loved it so much we came back with my partners parents the following week, and then had to squeeze in one more visit on our last night the following day. The whole team were amazing, and manage to combine speed and efficiency with making you welcome and finding time for chat. Jenny the manager was so welcoming on our last night and sorted us out with a table at the rooftop bar right after our meal. John was really knowledgeable and helpful with the wines, also hilarious. Madison and Ariel took great care of us too and were so friendly. The food is beautiful and the portions more generous than you’d expect from the descriptions. The chicken and steak were stop-you-in-your-tracks amazing. Thanks so much - we look forward to coming back when visit again from the UK next year. Pete & Ewa
Be the first to ReplyVery Good Lunch
Very nice brunch. Almond croissant is outstanding, the frisee salad excellent. Croque Madam was good, but the breed hard which detracted from the meal. They have a nice cocktail list, though we didn't indulge. Service was fine and efficient. The restaurant has large open windows with tall ceilings and has a nice vibe.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious
We ate here on the recommendation of a friend, and it was wonderful. Most of the food was quite good, but some standouts - the Escargot (not traditional but wonderful), the Steak Frites, and this puff chocolate-covered dessert (not sure the name, unfortunately). There are beautiful rooftop bars close, too, if you want to go after. Great date night - would highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyA little bit of Paris in BK
The outdoor seating is covered and cozy but the chairs remind me of the bistro sets sold at an online retailer. Not comfortable at all. We opted for indoor dining in the end. The restaurant is airy but small in terms of capacity. There is a full bar and a handful of booths near the entrance. Restrooms are far from the interior of the restaurant as they are located in the Wythe Hotel near it’s elevator to rooms and the rooftop. As far as food, you cannot go wrong with the classic herb chicken & fries. Sounds basic but it is anything but that. Appetizers are next level. We tried the Jonah Crab with Avocado and Yuzu Kosho. It has fresh green apples, crab, and of course the other ingredients listed. It’s served with a few crackers. It was refreshing and perfect for the season. Light enough not to ruin your appetite. However, the salads are small. They may be good but all of salads we observed were appetizer size. The cocktails were expertly crafted. Even the simplest concoction was balanced and easy to drink. Reservations are recommended. Dessert was no exception. We tried the banana bread pudding. It has a cake consistency but melts in your mouth.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic French in Brooklyn
We ordered a lot of dishes and loved everything! The steak tartare was a must(crisps on the side were fantastic)along with the roast chicken- as Julia Child says “you can judge a cook by his or her roast chicken!” We also enjoyed the crab and avocado appetizer and all the desserts!! Make a reservation for drinks upstairs before dinner for NYC views!
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming
Underwhelming experience. First of all, why mess with Cacio e Pepe even if you think it's a good idea? Orzo simply cannot deliver the tasting experience spaghetti can to a properly made Cacio e Pepe. It's hard enough to make a great Cacio e Pepe. Its like putting Orzo in red sauce or substituting beyond meat for a ribeye - just please stop. Which brings me to the Steak au Poivre. The classic and proper preparation of Steak au Poivre should have the sauce as a compliment to the steak, not responsible for its drowning. The bauvette cut of steak was tasteless and unnecessarily chewy. Then it was literally drowned in au Poivre sauce. I could have been eating steak or tripe and would not have known the difference because all I could taste was the sauce. Took two bites and pushed my plate away - complete waste and should be removed from menu. As I am sitting at the table hungry, I dug into my friends roasted chicken which was fantastic. The Escargot & Steak Tartare was just OK. Which brings me to my last observation which was the Country Pate with Foie Gras. It was like eating the color Taupe. Nothing. Forgetful. Tasteless. Sad. Total waste of menu space considering how this is an option that should shine on a menu for its richness and complexity. Sorry but I really don't know why everyone thinks this place is great.
Be the first to ReplyFrenching in Brooklyn / Françaisement à Brooklyn
A hidden gem in Brooklyn? The word is out. Le Crocodile delivers on all of my review pillars:
1- Service was excellent from the hostess greetings to the well wishes from staff on the way out. Our waiter John C was courteous, professional and very helpful in planning and enjoying our evening, from drinks all the way to dessert.
2- The ambience was cozy and sophisticated with thoughtful lighting to match. The table and chairs were comfortable and the place features some very cozy and plush benches for other table arrangements.
3- TTE or time to eating, based on time elapsed from the order to delivering our plates, was short, considering the place appeared about 70% full.
4- The food quality was excellent, with everyone at the table enjoying the delicious French menu. There were no returns or surprises about our food not being cooked properly. Desserts were decidedly decadent and entrees spectacularly delicious and filling.
5- Pricing was adequate for the quality of food. I found it cheaper than a swanky French joint in Manhattan-many of which I frequent often. Apps, dinner and dessert with drinks and tip for 3, ran about $550. Lots more value compared to Boulud or Robuchon.
Le Crocodile didn’t disappoint and has officially made my definitive Brooklyn Eats gold list with this 5 star review. I am already planning my return, and I’d like John to work with us again!
Make this an experience by bowling across the street then ending at Le Crocodile for a delicious experience.
Excellent food
Excellent food, with unique takes on traditional dishes. Great atmosphere and very cordial service. Longish menu with many outstanding dishes
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Lunch with Rex!
I was staying in Williamsburg for a work trip and had lunch with a friend. Rex our server was amazing and made great recommendations. I had the mushroom pate with black truffle as well as the skate au poivre! Highly recommend! Will definitely come back when I visit the city again!

The food was absolutely amazing!!! We had the escargot, mushroom pate, and french onion soup. I’ve been to Paris and this was even better!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat French brunch!
Thoroughly enjoyed our brunch with our adult kids outside in spectacular weather. Everyone needs to show proof of vaccination and an ID (even if you eat outside). Ambiance and service were friendly, warm and welcoming and the food was truly outstanding! We started by sharing a pain au chocolat and a maple cream doughnut- sinfully delicious - and then we each loved our selections of the seasonal cherry tomatoes with 2 fried eggs and toast, the quiche, the omelette du fromage and the eggs Royale heaped with smoked salmon and hollandaise. I didn’t love the bitter greens of the quiche’s side salad but the dressing was fantastic. The fries that came with the omelette and the eggs Royale were perfect - be sure to ask for the house made garlicky mayo for dipping! We loved the non alcoholic special drinks (mint lemonade and Aperitif with Ghia) and the beer on draft. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyBartender was amazing as was the food
Thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the bar as we watched the amazing scratch drinks being poured. Food was equally as good. Leek salad was amazing and tender. Duck was flavorful and melted in your mouth. Onion soup had a twist in flavor that was hearty and savory. Can't wait to go back
