High expectations with Low Returns
High expectations with low return. Best part of meal was the wine. Tried the Fish n Chips special. Coating was not crispy and chips were limp. Remoulade was bland. Steak special cooked to perfection, but sauce disappointing. Dessert did not salvage the meal. Service was spectacular!

I recently booked this restaurant for a private wedding party. I live out of state and was nervous about booking a wedding party from out of state. Jake (the owner) went out of his way to make sure everything was handled perfectly. He communicated in a timely manner (within a day considering the time change) and called to check in. He was there the day of the party and it was perfect. Many guests said it was a highlight! The food was exceptional and everything exceeded my expectations. I was extremely pleased since I had never been to the restaurant. The restaurant was beautiful and everything was perfect. I highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyGood food & fixed priced menu reasonable value
Varied menu and good food, in a relaxed atmosphere. Fixed priced menu 2 or 3 courses from main menu reasonable value.
Though for an European wine usual high NY prices!
Simply amazing restaurant and Chef Jake is just the best
Greenpoint, Brooklyn has been a hot spot for many upcoming chefs. Chef Jake is no exception and my friends living in the neighborhood has been returning to the restaurants again and again. This is my second visit and I am not disappointed. The $39 three course dinner is just a big bargain. The pappardelle starter is just out of the world and I can eat it every day. The duck confit with dirty risotto main course is another creative entree prepared by Chef Jake. The dessert was lovely too. This restaurant is a must try, and reservation is recommended!

We recently enjoyed an evening at LeFond. It rang all the bells. Outstanding entrees (not to mention hors dโoeurves, starters, and desserts). Attentive service by well trained staff who made sure that every need was taken care of throughout the evening. Beautiful surroundings that clearly have been carefully put together to create a lovely, warm, yet fresh atmosphere. With our party of 10, there was much to sample including superb cheeses, amazing sauces, fork tender chicken, perfectly cooked Fluke, delectable apple galette, caramel layer cake, and the best Dulche De Leche ice cream ever.
This is a restaurant that takes obvious care to ensure that diners have a wonderful experience. All of that effort pays off, as we couldnโt have been happier with our special evening. We will happily return and delighted to find such a terrific gem in Greenpoint.
Delicious Food with a Charming Atmosphere
I have been to Le Fond a couple of times and the chef does not disappoint. The food is delicious. The menu is small and refined but after trying half the menu I must admit you can't go wrong with any of your choices. Some of the combinations are surprising and overall the menu is very thoughtful.
A must visit to have a romantic dinner for couples. A must visit to celebrate an important event with family. A must visit if you have foodie friends who are always in search of a delicious, refined meal.
Cheers to the chef!
Excellent food and service, reasonable prices
My husband and regularly visit his parents in NYC and we try to have one fine dining experience each trip. This time all four of us went to Le Fond.
The atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. The wine list was small but very well thought out and we had a couple of bottles of the Cotes du Rhone. To start we syndicated the mussels escabeche and the winter chop salad while my husband and father in law also had the octopus a la plancha. The carrot sauce for the mussels was excellent and the salad had a great combination of flavors and textures. My husband enjoyed the octopus and said it was very tender and the olives provided a great pop of salt.
For mains I had the enroulade of fluke and char. The spinach gnocchi was surprisingly light. My husband had the duck bordelaise which was also excellent. My father in law had the cassoulet which was as fish and decadent as you would hope. One bite for more than enough for me.
I would highly recommend Le Fond and we hope to back to back on a future trip. The food was fine dining, but the prices were very reasonable for NYC, and the atmosphere was very inviting.
