I've gone to my fair share of dim sum restaurants and conclude that Lei Garden is pretty average. Not amazing, not bad.I tried: the Diced Pork and Peanut Filled Dumpling, Mixed Seafood Dumpling, Dried Scallop and Pork Sticky Rice, Dried Scallop/Shrimp/Pea Sprout Dumpling, Scallop & Chive Rice Roll, and Deep Fried Taro. My favorite was the Diced Pork and Peanut Filled Dumpling since it had a pretty unique texture and flavor. I'll also note that the skin on these dumplings and rice rolls is on the thicker, chewier side. The flavor of the fillings was decent, and the dumplings were juicy as well.I also was a bit disappointed since some of the dim sum were served to us lukewarm (I really wanted the Deep Fried Taro to be piping hot and fresh). Overall, the food is alright. There can be a waitlist around early lunch hour, so stopping by a bit earlier could be a good idea.

There are many different dim sum restaurants in the Bay Area, and for cupertino, this is a solid choice for a good family lunch. It is one of the more pricer dim sum restaurants, but the quality is always good. This place tends to get busy so it depends on luck for how long the waiting list can be on the weekend. This is an option of dim sum I would choose if I had the right budget, but because there are other good quality dim sum restaurants a bit further, it would be more of a second thought.
Be the first to ReplyFood is just ok here.
Stuffed fried tofu doesn't taste that fresh. No other dim sum dishes stand out.

This is a go to dim sum place in Cupertino!Everything we have ordered is quite tasty! Some of my fav dishes are the shiu mai, turnip cakes, har gow, char siu rice rolls, and the sesame mochi balls with red bean inside for dessert. Tried the salted lava buns for dessert for the first time and they were delicious! The inside is clean and it's nice that there is plenty of space to move between tables. The teas are also great and the service is fast. You order and things come out fast which is the beauty of dim sum. Don't expect super smily service though.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, consistent quality.
Service is mediocre. What do you expect from Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area these days? We must stop patronizing them.

The ribeye beef and scallop dish was so good! We also enjoyed the egg rolls, general tso chicken, Peking duck, and fried rice with cured meat. The atmosphere was upscale compared with other restaurants with table cloths, complimentary homemade hot tea, and complimentary desserts that were sooo good! Really great service. Live crabs/seafood in fish tanks. Large dining area with many tables. Good atmosphere. I was prepared to maybe not like this place? But had a great time! I don't understand the 3.0 rating at all
Be the first to ReplyFirst time there.
Had the General Tso chicken and also the ribeye and scallops. Both were delicious. Recommend.

非常差,食物里有头发。服务员给我讲在利苑的食物里吃到头发是很正常的事情。顾客没资格挑剔是否食物里有脏东西。A male waiter told me: It is very common to find hair and dirt in the food at Lei Garden.

It is a great place for dimsum! I am a regular consul and know what is good. I usually ordered shrimp dumplings, duck, pork noodle, chicken soup, pork bums, sweet buns. Yummy !

Their dim sum is solid, and our dinner yesterday went without a hitch. We had a party of 8 and ordered one of the 10 person set courses (family style of course), and everything was delicious. The Peking duck, lobster, and pineapple buns were our favorites, and the steamed live fish a close second.Service was great, our used plates were periodically switched out for clean ones, and they boxed our many, many leftovers for us. They included a service charge of 18% for our table, very reasonable for a nice setting on a Saturday night. Id come back!

I would highly recommend this place, the dim sum was good other than their fried rice tasted like fish (ew).

One of the best dim sum places in Bay Area, comparable to Koi Palace! There are good selections and the price is fair. Their fried dim sums are really the best in the area, steam ones are fine too. The taste are traditional HK styles.

You can only sympathize with restaurants so much in these times. You would think they would go above and beyond to retain business but doesn't seem this place is interested. In short, don't come here for a relaxed time. They'll bring your food fast but they'll also bring your bill before you're halfway thru your meal, and then keep asking if you're ready and have the nerve to bug you for a tip. We always tip in cash but I'd be inclined to tip this place in toe nail clippings. I digress. It's also nice that they put to go containers out for us without even asking; but I took that as another signal to get our butts up out of there. Asked to share feedback with a manager who conveniently walked away just in the Knick of time. Just seems they wanted us out. Well, we got out and we'll stay out. Food is just ok, service is inconsistent. Previous experiences were more positive. This last one was far from. Won't recommend and won't repeat.

Loved the Dim Sum during lunch service!!!! Service was fast and friendly and kept the table clean and organized while we were attacking the food as it came out. I will return again soon.

I love dim sum and came here because I heard the quality of dim sum was better than other places. I arrived right before 11 am which was opening and one of the servers sat us down right away in one of the outside tents. There seemed to be quite a few people waiting when we left so we lucked out! The shu mai was the best out of the dim sum we tried and it was a generous size, flavorful, and very tasty. Similar to what other people's reviews said, this place is more about the quality and prices are a bit more steep. The tea is great here as well and I believe you get charged for everyone even if not everyone in your party drinks tea. Service was efficient and very smooth! I would definitely come back for more dim sum.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible service.
If you're fine with that, the food is okay. We nicely asked one of the staff if she could help cut up a dessert for us. She gave us so much attitude. Why didn't you ask them to cut it when they brought it out. How am I supposed to cut it, I don't have scissors. Then called someone over to cut it. The other lady literally used her scissors to snip the top of the sponge cake 4 times and left. It was so ridiculous we burst out laughing. Safe to say that's my last time there, see ya.

IMHO-Covid EditionThe best (and the most expensive) dim sum I've enjoyed in a long time!We "had" to come here when our first dim sum restaurant choice just happened to be closed on Tuesdays. So we head off to Cupertino and Lei Garden, on the recommendation of my daughter who works nearby. We had the choice to dine indoors or outdoors in private little set-up tents. We opted for indoors and sat comfortably at socially-distanced tables. You order from a folded paper menu, marking the items and quantity that you desire. There is a huge selection of yummy dim sum items, congee or noodle/rice platters. Our party of three opted for 7 dim sum dishes, plus one order of tomato beef chow mein.Shrimp & Pork dumpling, $6.15Steamed/Chicken Claw, $6.15Shanghai Pork Dumpling, $7.15Veggie Pork Tofu Skin Wrap, $7.15Salt & Pepper Tofu, $9.15Fried Stuffed Eggplant, $9.15Roasted Pork, $11.15Tomato Beef Chow Mein, $20.983 teas, $5.25The food came out fast, and mostly hot. We were all delighted with how delicious and flavorful our food was! Was it expensive? Dang yes! That was the most expensive chow mein I've ever ordered!Service was good and fast. Would we come here again? Definitely, especially if someone else is paying! LOL
Be the first to ReplySat outside in the individual tents for the first time.
You place the entire order on a picture menu. Food comes out quickly. I love their dim sum. Parking is tough here and the wait can e very long on the weekends. I only wish they had chili wonton dim sum. Service is very efficient. They add 18% gratuity automatically.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant will give you the wrong dish to take home.
So Double check your take-out order before you leave the restaurant. Yesterday we ordered pan fried giant clams $28.98 贵妃蚌 and Kobe beef $24.98 for Chinese New Year dinner gathering. Instead of clams We were given mushroom fried beef (??) . But we were still charged a premium . If they run out of Giant clams, they should have let customers know beforehand.
Be the first to ReplyHighly mediocre.
Came for dinner, prices are quite high for the portion sizes and especially the flavor of the food. Service is ok. i recommend you go elsewhere..

I would happily tip well and support restaurants during COVID. But with terrible service and mediocre food, a 18% tip - service fee is added for us without any mention or notice earlier. How thoughtful of you to write tip on behalf of the customers yet do not check on customers even once - no refill of tea, food come out semi-warm, even got the order wrong. COVID is not an excuse for charging extra without notifying customers before dining, and not an excuse for charging 18% for service when it's bad service.

Came at 2pm for a late dim sum and luckily even though they close at 2:30 we were still seated. All dim sum were ordered on a menu sheet, so there's no cart experience but we like it better this way as all our dim sum were freshly made right out of kitchen to the table. No wait to be seated or fighting to get the carts' attention. Quality of the dim sum were good as usual and like the special items on the menu. Remember this is a Cantonese restaurant, so please don't order a northern China dish and complain it's not good. :)

We were excited to check this place out having eaten at both Lei Garden in Hong Kong and Singapore. This place unfortunately failed to live up to that reputation and didn't even come close... 1) Dim sum items were over salted: Both the spring rolls and crispy shrimp rice roll (cheong fun) were way too salty, while the house pan fried noodles were under seasoned. 2) Slow service for weekday lunch: Our order of egg yolk lava buns didn't get served in time and we asked to remove it from the bill. We also didn't have a fixed server and had to wave and get another server's attention for the check at the end. Given the many good dim sum options in the peninsula/SF (hey Dragon Beaux!) we probably won't be back.
