Levain Bakery - NoHo New York Reviews from The Last Year
I had Levain Bakery as a cookie place to try for a while
I had Levain Bakery as a cookie place to try for a while now, and coincidentally, I came across one on our walk through the city. I immediately went in and ordered the Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip ($5.25) and their seasonal Lemon Cookie ($5.75). I didn't eat them right away, so I reheated them a little before eating at home. I love dark chocolate, so I definitely enjoyed the ooey gooey dark cocao mixed with the semisweet chocolate chips. The cookie was as described: thick, chewy, and rich. The lemon cookie was also thick and chewy but also had a refreshing amount of lemon taste.

Great decadent cookies with a crunchy exterior and soft and moist interior. They were a little too sweet and decadent but nonetheless a delicious cookie. We got the two chip chocolate chip cookie and the dark chocolate peanut butter chip cookie. Definitely satisfied my cookie cravings and would love to try the lemon cookie next time!
very good food, but way way overpriced.
I will not be returning also washrooms could use a scrubbing .
My first time trying Levain's famous cookies.
I was in and out super quickly, which was nice. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan. The texture wasn't bad, but the cookie itself was unbearably sweet. It was worth trying once for the experience, but I won't be back.

We needed to grab something to take to a friends place and my significant other never tried Levain cookies so stopping here was a no brainer. We got a big assorted box and he was happy to sample many flavors before it arrived at its final destination. Everyone who came into contact with this box left happier than when they found it, no one had any complaints. Everyone said every flavor was delicious, fresh and well made. This is definitely a place with a line worth waiting it, it moves quickly. I'll be honest it's just as good as the original location.
Been to their original location on the UES.
Finally had a chance to come to their downtown location. It's a pretty nice size shop in a nice neighborhood. It's well lit, displayed, and spacious. I believe their original shop doesn't compare, as I recall it was small storefront. I think even the chosen design and colors helped give it a bit of pop. Service is prompt, I tried to quickly look at the display as I my turn came pretty quickly. The service is polite and friendly. I enjoyed my visit, and the sweets are to indulge.
These cookies are good but not amazing.
They are too crispy on the outside for my liking. I felt the ratio of cookie to chocolate was too heavy on the chocolate. Its also a bit too sweet. Again, it's a good tasting cookie, but definitely not the best in nyc.
One of the larger Levain locations, the NoHo branch
One of the larger Levain locations, the NoHo branch provides the same pleasant cookie experience as the others, just in a more brightly lit and spacious location than the original, though the broom closet of a shopfront in the Upper West Side will always have a special place in my heart. The Levain staff are always more than happy to make your day positive, but I'd be too if I made buttery pastries all day long and had fresh cookie smell wafting through the air -- I consider it a bit of a patisserie relaxant. On this occasion, I went with the classic chocolate chip walnut, which never disappoints, and the new seasonal lemon cookie. Think lemon bar, but in cookie form instead. Not too overpowering, but just the right balance of sweet and tart. You really can't go wrong with Levain, so why even try. Enjoy your baked goods and avoid any alleyways with any possible hungry Sesame Street monsters.

I was scarred from my first Levain Experience, having to wait in a long line not knowing whether if they still had inventory. That was 6 years ago, and Levain had expanded significantly since then. We walked by the NoHo location and I told my friends they had to stop here. They had never had Levain, and don't know what they had been missing out on. We waited in a short line, and when Levain's massive cookies showed up in front of their eyes as we closed in to the display cabinet, we all got so excited. We got their classic chocolate chip with walnut, along with the two chocolate (double chocolate)? Yes, their cookies are indulgent, and you are probably eating about 1000 calories per cookie. But it's a treat, and it's worth it. You can also ask for the cookies to be warmed up if you are consuming them immediately. While it is a slight inconvenience and you do have to wait a bit if they didn't come straight from the oven, it's 100% WORTH IT.
Honest review.
It's Not that Good , It's a cookie. But not Great Tasting. It's overpriced for flour and butter. I make a better one at home. Guaranteed. We have some of the best pastries and cakes Mikey's cakes YouTube
I was tempted to leave one star but leaving two because I
I was tempted to leave one star but leaving two because I appreciate when a hotspot offers a vegan option. Also it tastes good but it's a cookie so of course it tastes good. That being said, the vegan cookie leaves much to be desired and I am alarmed that Levain isn't embarrassed enough to fix the recipe. It kind of seems like nobody at the company has actually tried to eat this thing because I genuinely cannot understand how they allow this to be sold at an establishment known for having some of the best cookies in NYC. They probably assumed "those gluten free and vegan people don't have the same expectations as normal people." I wish! I had a positive experience picking up my treats. The girl who helped me pick out the cookies boxed them up all cute and was kind. The line wasn't long at all when I went and it's not the cutest place ever but perfect fine in terms of ambiance. Again, I appreciate a vegan option but not if it's so bad it gives meat-heads another excuse to say "all vegan food sucks." This cookie 10000% perpetuates that myth. I cannot imagine any vegan repeat-purchasing this unless they get it free or it's out of convenience. The problem is that Levain is forcing a 2-for-1 allergen-friendly cookie that's both vegan and gluten-free. If you want to upset vegans, making our option gluten-free is the easiest way to lose us. We love gluten, we literally make meat substitutes out of something called vital wheat gluten. Gluten-free baked goods are known to turn to dust like the Sanderson Sisters at the end of Hocus Pocus. This cookie is no exception. The cookie completely falls apart (poof!) so I advise wearing a bib or eating over a garbage which you can easily dump it in after your first disappointing bite. The flavor isn't bad so they aren't too far off from making this great but cookie texture is KEY so we want a dense cookie texture like everyone else. I think with a normal gluten flour this could be one of the best in the city but not clear what they're using in place of eggs and butter. Due to the lack of binding, they may have just skipped an egg replacement and could benefit from adding flax egg. I also don't know where they got the audacity to add nuts... Nuts do not belong in chocolate chip cookies. Sea salt flakes? Yes, absolutely. Walnuts? Jail. This cookie reminds me of - shortbread, in terms of taste and crumbly texture. Luckily I love shortbread and this also has that buttery taste - a scone hardened via sitting in the dry desert for 3 years - a biscotti that implodes with each bite If you're vegan, there are so many incredible vegan cookies around the city anywhere you go so don't you dare waste your money on this unless you're also gluten free. If you don't mind spending $6 on a very mid cookie, then I suggest dipping it in coffee so it's a bit more moist and will stay together. If you don't eat gluten you might like this bc you're probably used to that cookie-go-poof texture and the flavor is quite good! Maybe this could be closer to 4 stars for someone who is gluten free because my friend enjoyed it much more than I did. Levain you can do so much better than this, I know it

Amazing cooking place! Usually it's really busy with long lines. I got there early on Friday morning and the pastries and cookies were freshly made. I thought the cookies were the star here but the blueberry muffin and the brioche with cinnamon butter was so good!!!
I would like to leave a negative review for my experience
I would like to leave a negative review for my experience at levain. I made sure to tell the woman at the counter that I wanted one of each cookie except for the peanut butter, my child has an allergy, and when I got home I realized that there was a peanut butter cookie in the box. My daughter was very upset since she was not able to have any of the cookies which was supposed to be her treat for a great performance at school. I can't fully remember the woman's name but I know it started with an F and I clearly requested to NOT have the peanut butter cookie. I'll try another location for a better experience!
When in NYC: Levain is a must.
Giant cookies. Had one for breakfast and it kept me full all the way until dinner time. Ordered the chocolate chip walnut as the Levain classic. The double chocolate was actually my favorite and less sweet than the chocolate walnut. Only regret: not trying the seasonal lemon cookie!
They are good
When you're sitting quietly in Central Park and your daughter tells you the best cookies in the world aren't far away. You are not within 1 km. Well they are certainly good but certainly not the best. On the other hand, there are also other very good products like the Bluberry muffin. The products are of very good quality.

You know a place is popular when there is a line out the door on a random Monday afternoon. Levain Bakery at the NoHo location offers the same delectable cookies and pastries as its other upper Manhattan locations. There is usually a line in any of the locations you go to but it moves quickly. There aren't that many selections but you can't go wrong with any of them. They do have seasonal flavors and for May it was a lemon cookie that was light and fresh. If you haven't tried Levain's yet, highly recommend a Double Chip Chocolate Chip!
People isn't wrong when they say these are the best cookies
People isn't wrong when they say these are the best cookies in New York! OMG! Every bite it's a party in your mouth. Personally the coconut one it's my favorite and I'd order it over and over again The times I've been there, there's always a line but it always moves fast, so don't worry about it. I recommend you to try one of these cookies with black coffee to intensify the experience. Also love all the merch, I want to take everything home!!!
Having always seen this place on TikTok and always hearing
Having always seen this place on TikTok and always hearing about them having the best cookies is when I finally needed to check it out for myself. It's a small bakery and there was a line and although it did go out the door it does move pretty fast. I had the double chocolate chip and the dark chocolate with peanut butter cookies. The cookies themselves were big and had a crunchy outer layers and you immediately get hit with all the chocolate at once. Each cookie packing a flavorful and freshly baked bite and it's safe to say that these were some of the best cookies that I've had. Id like to try the other cookie flavors they had but these were a good first time try.
Ciabatta was excellent.
Cookies are well worth the visit. The chocolate brioche is really good; the plain brioche is so so.
What can I say, I crossed it off the must-go list.
The cookies were ok. Tried a variety and grabbed a few extra to take to family at my next travel destination where it was made quite clear that they'd rather have me make my chocolate chip cookies, so I did! If you're in the area and have a craving, grab one up. You won't regret it but I wouldn't go seeking it out.
Can you believe this was my first time visiting this
Can you believe this was my first time visiting this bakery? I've tried their cookies before when people brought them to parties but I never went to the bakery myself. The place was so inviting and toasty on a cool and chilly day like today. There were so many cookie choices but I went with Chocolate chip Walnut cookie because I like nuts in my cookies. I liked the height and gooey center of this cookie. I see what the buzz is all about. The cookie itself is buttery and delicious. I just wish it didn't cost $5.25 each. Overall, nice bakery. Will probably go back to try other flavors but not too often because it's pricey.
Great cookies!
You can’t go wrong with Levain. The cookies are fantastic as are the scones and bread. Every time I visit NYC (or Boston), I order some Levain cookies to bring back home and freeze to thaw out and eat over time. They are great!
What a cookie!🔥
I read a lot before trying this cookie and all the reviews were right. I had the caramel coconut chocolate cookie. I had this one because I didn’t wanted to try the original one. My decision was right! The caramel is on the bottom of the cookie. Like a crispy base of caramel. The rest of the ingredients were inside of the cookie. Great amount of chocolate. The coconut was smooth. Not too much and not too little. And of course, the cookie was soft! Perfect cookie! PD: don’t underestimate this cookie. Are big and with one you’ll be fine. You can get “full” with one cookie
Pricey but good
This bakery makes really good cookies that are like large flaky biscuits. I tried the Oatmeal Raisin on my first visit and the Lemon on my second. Both were very good and I'd order again. Pricey but good!
Yummy
Double chocolate chip and Caramel coconut chocolate chip. Both were delicious! HUGE and thick. Could share 4 ways. Not cheap! but good for a special occasion.
Good cookie!
Very good! It didn't dazzle, perhaps because expectations were very high, but it's a great cookie. The space is modern and the service is fast!
Delicious homemade cookies - Soft and delicious 🍪😋. The best of NYC🗽
We discovered the delicious cookies from Levain bakery in the Noho neighborhood of New York and they are truly incredible. Hearty, soft and very delicious for just $5. I really recommend this gourmet break and why not accompanied by a hot drink. Absolutely worth discovering 😋🍪🍪😉
Amazing
This was probably the best cookie I have ever had. Worth the wait and lived up to expectations. Also I think the most friendliest and nicest staff in the whole of NY. Especially the man who served me, he really made my day so much better! 10/10 all round
Must visit
Lives up to the hype! We tried the double choc chip cookie and it was served warm, melting in the middle. The server was also super friendly and efficient.
BEST COOKIE IN THE WORLD
Best cookies in the world. Various cookie options. Each one better than the other. In high season (summer and between Christmas and New Year's Eve) there is always a queue. But the wait is very worth it. I chose the traditional choc chip. It's from the gods!!!!
New York free travel
Each cookie weighs 6 ounces and uses semi-sweet chocolate chips and toasted walnuts for a walnut-flavored taste. The texture is thick and soft like cake on the inside, and the outer layer is crispy chocolate chips!! Dark Chocolate Peppermint Seasonal limited flavors, the biscuits are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which is unique to American biscuits. It is so happy to pair with rich dark chocolate. Because it is paired with mint, the aftertaste will be refreshing. This combination is really great!! But if you eat too much, it will be too sweet. It will be more perfect with hot tea.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
