Awesome time
Came here on a Sunday in a whim. They open at 4 pm for dinner, start taking reservations 28 days in advance and thought “no way” I would get in. At 3:30 pm the doors were open so I asked the hostess if there was a chance of getting a table for two. She was very accommodating and said she had a table if we were done by 5:45 pm which was fine. Despite a few mixed reviews, most people love Lilia. We had a great experience and you can tell the staff is well trained, courteous, has the customer in mind and they are well staffed. Kudos to the owner. Great ambience, nice vibe, awesome bar and seating, people were willing to sit outside, even though it was a little chilly. The restaurant provides blankets. They put a nice spin on the dishes. They find a way to put a unique flavor. They are a little pricey, some dishes are a little on the small size, and I would have liked to see more variety on the menus for entrees. They are know for their pasta dishes. I had a margarita which was good, although a little on the small side. We started with the house made mozzarella on toasted garlic bread. It was very fresh and flavorful, you can taste all the seasoning. We shared three mains, two were pastas. Loved the spaghetti, pine nuts and lemon reggiano. Also the fettuccine with lamb sausage, lemon passato and pecorino romano cheese. We also had the grilled bass, salsa verde over coal roasted Yukon golden potatoes. Couldn’t pass up on desert. Had the lemon ice which was vanilla gelato, candied lemons, and lemon granita. Also had the apple crostata with honey and creme freiche. We spoke to several repeat customers who were extremely happy. They also have a small cafe in the back of the restaurant with a separate door. They have a nice following. I would definitely recommend them.

This was a great meal! We shared a bunch of dishes so we could taste a lot. The artichoke and Caesar salad were great! The mussels were so tasty with the pesto like sauce. We tried 4 different pastas. The mafaldini, parpadelle, agnolotti with honey( my fave) and the simple rigatoni ( I would not get again). The vibe is hip and cool, service was excellent and I would definitely come again. You need to make your reservation in advance as this is a hot spot and not easy to get into.

This is one of the best restaurant experiences that I have ever had in NYC! Beautiful dining room, very open with views of the kitchen. Wait staff was amazing - the teamwork to ensure that guests had a good experience was outstanding. The food was AMAZING!!! We tried every pasta on the menu and every one of them was spectacular. The clam appetizer was my favorite but all of the appetizers were very good. Save room for dessert. Sadly the o e cream was broken. We gladly settled for the chocolate tort, apple tart. Delicious! Highly recommend Lilia if you cam get a reservation

The food is highly regarded and it lives up to the hype. The best dish, and one is what seems like it's mentioned every review is the Sheeps Milk Cheese Filled Agnolotti. As everyone describes it, it's like a fluffy pillow or delicious cheese and saffron with an amazing butter and honey sauce. Absolutely worth ordering. Other great dishes include the grilled clams and grilled shrimp. Both are loaded with spices and flavor. The clams also have a bit of a kick (spicy). As good as it is, the ambiance isn't great. Try to book inside if possible. We got stuck outside next to the hot subway grate. The tables felt rickety and it just didn't give you the feel of a fine dining establishment. Overall go for the food, but not if it's with a date your trying to impress.

Dined at Lilia while visiting New York on the recommendation of friends and certainly did not leave disappointed save for the casual and energetically youthful environment that simply took us off guard. We were anticipating a more refined and elegant atmosphere within. With that said, all dishes sampled were simply excellent with special mention of the not to be missed "Housemade Mozzarella on Garlic Toast". Portions were on the large side designed for family style sharing and we were therefore able to experience a wide array of culinary delights sampling a number of pastas and appetizers with unfortunately no room left for dessert.

Someone recommended this restaurant to us highly a few weeks before our recent visit to NYC, and it was quite an endeavor to reserve a table at this restaurant. New reservations are released 30 days ahead at midnight ET every day, so we set an alarm clock for a couple of minutes before the release time and started refreshing the restaurant’s reservation page at Resy. Most of the reservations were gone immediately after the clock hit 12:00 am. We did manage to get a reservation in our 2nd attempt the next day. We arrived at the restaurant at the time of our reservation and were greeted warmly. The dishes are all exquisitely prepared. The Focaccia with Green Garlic Butter was baked perfectly and very flavorful. We ordered Red & White Radicchio and Grilled Artichoke for our appetizers. The Taste of the Red & White Radicchio was well balanced and very pleasing. I ate only a quarter of the artichoke heart, which was good but nothing special, because the rest of the dish was too cheesy for me, although one of my companions loved it. The best were the pasta dishes, Sheep Milk Cheese Filled Agnolotti and Lamb Sausage Fettuccine. I had only a small quantity of the pasta due to my concern about my lactose intolerance, but the sheep milk cheese and Pecorino caused me no problems, indicating their quality (i.e., well fermented). The complex flavor profiles of the pasta dishes stand out even compared to the best pasta dishes that I had at high-end restaurants in Italy. The only main dish we ordered was Black Bass with Salsa Verde, which was good but did not stand out. The drinks served at this restaurant were also superb. Overall, I very much enjoyed my experience.

Having tried Misi a few months ago I was eager to try Lilia so we walked in on a cold Saturday at 4pm. There was a small queue but we actually got seated at the bar very quickly. The pastas were tasty and the prawns were excellent. The portions are good for sharing. Service was great. However I thought Misi had a higher standard

How is this place still busy? They have all these policies with their food. For example, I tried to take something home to my husband, and they said per management, and the nature of their food, to go orders are forbidden in their restaurant. As a restaurant, you can do whatever you want but honestly, their food is just okie. It's really nothing special to the point where you have to make a reservation 1 month in advance. Also, I explained I have a huge party already reserved coming in 2 months and they didn't care. I plan on canceling my reservations for 15 and going to another restaurant where they value their customers

Outstanding meal at this hard to get into restaurant. I now know why. Started off with the ramp focaccia for a starter followed by escarole (my 2 guests) and the little gem salad (myself). The breadcrumbs had a garlicky flavor and the salad was excellent. Shared the grilled clams (very good) and chicken liver crostini. For pasta, we chose 2 dishes that we split--mafaldini (very unique shaped pasta) and the spaghetti with pine nuts and parmigiano reggiano. Finished off the meal with "The Italian Job" (vanilla gelato with olive oil). Very good food, outstanding and non rushed service (our meal lasted more than 2 hours) and very reasonably priced for all the delicious food we ate.

I was recommended to go to Lilia whilst on holiday in NY & I didn’t get chance to make a reservation so we did a walk in - waitress was really helpful and got us a table for a few hours time and I am SO glad we managed to get in. The whole experience was amazing; the staff were super knowledgeable and explained the menu, and the food blew my mind. Really fresh and flavoursome. Highly highly recommend!!

Delicious! Excellent service and excellent food :) loved our meal here and didn’t feel rushed at all. Apps greatly spaced and server suggested a great bottle (and not a ton of money). Pastas as expected we’re the star. Can’t wait to go back

Out to dinner with our son and his girlfriend. They’ve eaten here before but our first time. Service was outstanding- attentive, helpful, friendly. Food was even better! Every course got better and better. Apps- prosciutto, clams and artichoke were wonderful. We each had pasta. My agnolotti melted in my mouth. Split olive oil cake and crostata- both great. Really enjoyed the meal.

Amazing place! Make a reservation in advance because you can’t just go- always booked..The menu is limited but very good . It is pricey but it has a distinctive taste that you would want to go to give yourself a treat. We ordered all 3 appetizers, an order of grilled scallops and 4 different pastas. Dessert of gelato is to die for and did I mention that the service is impeccable- loved it, thanks kids !

I've been trying to go to this restaurant for several months now with my boyfriend and finally we had a reservation yesterday night...
Environment and the place inside was beautiful and cozy, however we like food and we are not going back to Lilia because of that.
The way that the plates were served was like if I was eating at home. Nothing special on presentation and on flavor. Pasta was okay, but really bad looking and the way it was presented it was definitely not inviting us to try right away.
We had to return our meat because it was super greasy, big, and full of different flavors, loosing the meat flavor itself, making the dish not appetizing.
... Food was regular for us. Not coming back :/

It is worth the wait to get a reservation here...we waited 5 years! Food was out of this world good. Staff made great suggestions, and they treated us like rockstars. We sat outside so we got to watch the people and just really enjoyed ourselves. They didn't;t rush us and took plenty of time between courses so we could digest a bit.

What others say about the waiters and management is absolutely true. They are extremely rude and believe because they are always busy that they can treat guests like garbage.
They also have bizarre policy's about to-go food like it's made out of magic or something

This morning Helga and I trekked to Union Avenue to Lilia Caffé to have breakfast. It had been my dream to come here. Tables are attractively set up with safety precautions. I had an iced latte, fritelli Sangiuseppi and olive oil cake. It was a lot of food but it was worth it. The fritelli was light and made me swoon with each bite. The cake was tender. We sat there under the umbrella to ward off the hot sun and were not told that we had overstayed. Before I left I bought a strawberry crostata. One can use the restroom inside the main restaurant. Cash is not accepted here. Service was friendly. I plan to return.

I live down the street from Lilia I've been coming here for years and this place has really gone downhill. There is no customer loyalty or respect. Even through the pandemic my father and I have gone and supported them and they are continuously rude and don't care about there customers.
They have a policy of no to-go food. My dad and I wanted to brighten my sister's day with dropping off Food and we tried to explain to the waitress that my sister is at her apartment alone sick with Covid and she didn't care. Nor did she want to listen on why we were trying to get food to go.
They have no heart and everyone from the women who checked us in, to the manager and the waitress are all awful. My family has made it a point to support this restaurant during the pandemic and I will never come back again. I advise all others to not come either. There are way better restaurants like Aurora and Barano in Williamsburg that have amazing food and will treat you like family
