Wonderful meal, service, and atmosphere.
Get the Sunday gravy if they have it when you go, it's insanely good. Cozy and cute date night spot.
Be the first to ReplyFinally made it here.
Nice atmosphere inside but it's small and tight. Good service but it was early in the night so not busy. Contrary to what the others say we did not like the meatballs. There was a weird ingredient in them (maybe fennel) and too much ricotta so we asked for more sauce and that helped. My husband had chicken parm and was disappointed because he could tell it was deep fried and I had the Campanelle Nero which was good. Wouldn't go back

Amazing experience and loved the outdoor seating arrangement. Food was tasty and some of the best Italian food in Philly and super friendly waiters!
Be the first to ReplyReally enjoyed the meatball appetizer.
No surprise why it is a best seller. Great atmosphere too.

Vodka pasta was so amazing and has to be one of the best I've ever tried. Pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was light and so delicious. Highly recommend checking this place out.
Be the first to ReplyEverything was so lovely.
We sat at the patio--such a cozy atmosphere. But inside-there was a heavy smell and not so much fresh air. Small-crowded dining. While we were passing to go patio, I could not breathe inside. I am glad we sat on the patio. Our favorite thing was how our server, Inti, improved our night. She was quick, careful, professional, and very friendly. She checked on us without needing her--excellent, outstanding professionalism. We love every second of it. We will be back! Special thanks to Inti and her smiles.

The food was so good at Little Nonna's! First of all, the garlic bread comes with a head of roasted garlic, which is divine. The meatballs came served on a bed of polenta which was an unexpected but pleasant surprise. The meatballs are stuffed with cheese and are so flavorful and packed with herbs. I got the Tufoli Rigate at the recommendation of the server, and it was a really good savory, slightly sweet, creamy dish I would order again. It was a bit heavy so I ended up taking some home and it reheated fine the next day. The service was great, answering many of our questions on the menu. We came on a Wed around 6pm and didn't have to wait for a table for 2. Definitely recommend it, and plan on returning in the future!

We ordered takeout from here: one spaghetti and meatballs and one rigatoni alla vodka. Both were good, but I have had better pasta elsewhere. Nothing was bad, just slightly lackluster. The meatballs, however, were very good! It could be that their takeout is less impressive than their dine-in experience, so I'd be willing to try again!

Such a quaint place to dine. A little small for a large group but worth coming here.

Quaint place in the gayborhood, cute ambiance, greathost and staff and reasonably priced for CC. Loud, small and just underwhelmed by the food. Ordered the much lauded Sunday Gravy. Nice portion size with three meats. The sauce on the meats was good but on the pasta it was lacking. Just expected more I guess flavor wise.
Be the first to ReplyThe quintessential Italian Philadelphia experience.
The menu is extensive enough to give diners good choices. We strongly recommend the arancini as a starter. Portions are ample without being too large. Service was excellent. The zabaglione is an excellent dessert to round out the well-prepared meal.

My second favorite restaurant in philly!! For apps I always order the garlic bread. The whole bud of garlic is roasted perfectly and super soft on the inside and it's fun to pull out the cloves haha. We also got the meatballs and the flavors of those were immaculate as well. Very flavorful with herbs and tomato sauce is amazing. For main dishes, we ordered Sunday gravy - imo I think it's a little overrated. I think their individual pasta dishes are better. My favorite is probably the braised short rib radiatore. The pasta is such a fun shape but the flavors explode in your mouth and it isn't too creamy heavy so we didn't get tired from eating.

This Italian restaurant has a nice heated patio in the back, and the food portions are huge. The garlic bread is among the best I've ever had. The service was so friendly and extremely fast. It's like being in grandma's kitchen - food made with love. If I lived in Philly, this would rank as one of my fave restaurants to go to! It has the winning combo - good food, good service and nice ambiance.

By far my favorite restaurant in Philly! I come here for solo dates and also with friends. It's consistently a great experience from service, to ambiance, to the fresh food. Their tiramisu is addicting. I've literally had their entire menu and you can't go wrong with any of it. Hearty. Fresh. Authentic.

Ooooooo Child! Small menu, huge taste! Their take-out is packaged well, keeps the rich flavors and moisture just right. And the tiramisu stuffed in that little cup is worth diving into! Yum!

Mamma Mia this is the best pasta vodka I've ever had I have dreams about it. It was rich, savory, thick, and the perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. Huge portions for great prices, we all had leftovers!! Service and ambience were wonderful and perfectly ~Italian~ you'd think you were in south Philly. The garlic bread came with roasted whole garlic which I haven't seen done anywhere else!! Must try for Italian in Philly.
Be the first to ReplyWe used to love Little Nonnas when it was in it's infancy.
Had not been there in a long time and tried delivery service. There is a great saying "We eat with our eyes."My husband had the chicken parm.It was heavily breaded and deep fried so dark my husband said, "What's this." He did not eat the chicken. Thrown out. My dish was eggplant parm. Japanese eggplant is delicate yet I could not recognize it as eggplant. The breading was so heavy and deep fried they could have been deep fried rocks. The seasonings around the eggplant were good but those poor eggplants. Both dishes were not a golden brown. They were in hot oil much too long and too dark. Why wouldn't this long standing restaurant, pound that chicken breast, bread it lightly and then add cheese? Marcella Hazan, queen of Italian cooking had only one arm and yet her sauce was simple and delicious. One can Marzano tomatos crushed 5 tbls butter, 1/2 onion, salt. Let it simmer and remove onion. Delicious with simple ingredients. The stand out in any Italian restaurant should be the sauce or "gravy". Tasted like out of a can.Sadly most customers like heavy breading. I like to see and taste what I am eating. They lost us as future customers.

EXCELLENT food and service Limited menu but every morsel of what we ordered was outstanding and our waitress was a doll.

Beyond delicious one of my favorite Italian places in Philadelphia. The garlic bread is a must try as is almost every pasta dish.
Be the first to ReplyOrdered Sunday Gravy which came with slowly braised beef
Ordered Sunday Gravy which came with slowly braised beef shortrib, meatball, and sweet fennel sausage, topped with broccoli rabe. It came with whatever pasta the restaurant was serving that week in red sauce. The short rib was very tender, and overall it was savory, hearty and satisfying to eat! Also ordered Rigatoni alla Vodka. The sauce was a classic, delicious vodka sauce served with fennel sausage. Unfortunately, parts of the pasta were a little too "al dente." I know pastas are sometimes served like that but this one had quite a few pieces that were closer to being half uncooked. I told the server and she told me that it was supposed to be like that (as if I don't know the difference between aldente and straight up uncooked) but she offered to get me another one if i wanted. I didn't think anything she would get me would end up being that different and I had already started eating (it was still eat-able) so I let it be. She was nice enough about it though and didn't charge me for the coffee I ordered at the end. Overall, yummy food, the undercooked pasta took away from a bit of the enjoyment and made the price point feel less worth it but the restaurant was well decorated (although crowded) and had string lights inside which made for a nice Valentines Day dinner vibe.

HIGHLY highly recommend the garlic bread! The garlic is roasted whole and super spreadable, which is absolutely perfect. The squid ink pasta was really good as well! The pasta was al dente and the dish was very aromatic. The rigatoni alla vodka was a solid option, but I would say it taste just like any other vodka pasta in my opinion. I definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand (select the courtyard!) because it can get realllllly busy, especially for dinner.

I have been here before for Restaurant week but wanted to try their regular menu. If I could give 6 stars I absolutely would! I did not have a reservation ahead of time on a Sunday during the dinner rush. There was no seating inside but they had availability outside. Even though it was cold out, the heating lamps were enough to keep us warm. My partner and I were feeling very indecisive so we put our order in the hands of our waitress. We simply asked what the most popular meals were and ordered them. Our meal was honestly the best I have had in a long time! The Wild Mushroom Arancini were stuffed with buffalo, risotto, and truffle. They were perfectly fried and so good! The Eggplant Parmesan was served with burrata and pesto which gave it the perfect bite!! We also ordered the Rigatoni which was perfectly cooked and paired with a yummy sauce. Every single bite was better than the one before! Little Nonnas is a MUST!

I've heard really good things about Little Nonna's and decided stop by. I wasn't disappointed! The restaurant is very small but has a cozy, artsy vibe to it. The staff is very friendly and was patient with us while we ordered. We ordered garlic bread for app it was very tasty. It's hard to go wrong with garlic bread though. For entree we tried the Pan Seared Gnocchi and Eggplant Parmigiana! Both were delicious! I'd say that the gnocchi is a little on the oily/mild side when it comes to the taste. Best part was the tiramisu dessert! It was soo light but sooo tasty. Perfect amount of sweetness. Overall, little nonna's is a spot I'd recommend you checkout for some tasty Italian food that is very reasonably priced.
