Worth walking around and a great place to get pizza
We visited Little Italy on a walking tour. We were told Little Italy had consisted of 17 blocks but is now down to 4 blocks. The area mostly has restaurants, bakeries and shops โ some almost 100 years old. It is worth a visit for dinner and/or dessert.

The main attraction is the restaurants and small shops that line Mulbery st for a few blocks. It is easily covered on foot in a very short time. It is very close to Soho

Worth a leisurely stroll for an hour or so. More Italian restaurants than a feeling of Italy. Check and read reviews before choosing a restaurant.

Little Italy in New York has a nice atmosphere, lots of restaurants with Italian cuisine and history, lots of people

Be the first to ReplyLovely area of the city
We purposely visited Little Italy for an early dinner but we had a wander around the area in the dark when all the lights were on over the streets which was lovely. There are some nice shops and plenty of Italian restaurants to choose from; we chose Benito One which was delicious.

Given that I don't think you go to New York to eat Italian food, the visit is rather disappointing. A couple of lives full of restaurants, some of which are managed by non-Italians and souvenir shops now owned by Chinese and/or Asians. If it weren't for the signs it could be any neighborhood. Go there only if you pass otherwise the good things are different.

Be the first to ReplyA piece of Italy in NYC
Good point to be visited in NYC. It's near Chinatown and Soho, with many stores to go shopping. Moreover, little Italy has your own charming and awesome restaurants (Da Nico is on of them recommended).
Be the first to ReplyDecrepit, commercial and poorly maintained
Of course we expect to go to a neighborhood that represents the past, perhaps that of our grandparents who emigrated to America, but the neighborhood is too run down, there is nothing nice, the places are all commercial and even the shops (more Chinese than Italian ) the neighborhood makes no sense it should be redeveloped to represent Made in Italy in an Italian neighborhood in New York, with a touch of the past but a look into the future, worse than Little Italy there is only horrible dirty Chinatown and like little Italy flat scum and junkies. HORRIBLE

If you are in the area definitely stop and get a meal. The food is amazing and won't disappoint. There are a lot of outdoor options as well.
