Liuzza's by the Track New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year

The loveliest time at Liuzza's! After a walk through the park, we headed to Liuzza's for lunch. This small neighborhood spot offers great quality NOLA favorites. Our server, Kaysee, was an absolute sweetheart and provided the best service! We ordered the fried green tomatoes and bbq shrimp po'boy. Kaysee brought us out a little of the crawfish etouffee to try because she recommended dipping our fried green tomatoes into it. So good! Everything was tasty and delicious. Definitely a worthwhile place to stop by for both the food and the service.
We ordered the bbq shrimp sandwich & the shrimp po boy.
I loved both sandwiches! The best one was definitely the bbq shrimp! The service was great. Our server was super sweet & you can tell she loved her job because while it was busy, she was hustling & pretty much one of the only servers on the floor.

We went to Luizza's yesterday and had an awesome experience! The service was great, food was excellent and atmosphere was the best! Very inviting with a welcoming atmosphere and we will be back.
Wow great food
Great food great service what else do you need. I ordered the garlic oyster po boy and some chicken and sausage gumbo. both were to die for. Definitely a place to stop if you are in town. it's a little off the path of the French quarter but worth the drive
Exceptional Flavors and Outstanding Service at Liuzza’s by the Track
Liuzza’s by the Track is a must-visit restaurant in New Orleans. The gumbo was fantastic, rich and flavorful. The poboys were excellent, especially with the delicious garlic butter that elevated the taste to a new level. The etouffee was splendid, perfectly seasoned and satisfying. The staff was wonderful, and Casey, in particular, made our visit perfect with her attentive and friendly service. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a true taste of New Orleans!
The food was wonderful, we both had the muffuletta.
One of the best in NOLA. The food was ready fast. We got the meal to go
Very yummy.
I had the smoked turkey club. I recommend it. Also luv the vibe of this place! Excellent service!

I loved the food at Luizza's, which offers both traditional and unique NOLA dishes with hearty portions and robust flavors. The seating inside is limited, and it's a popular lunch spot, so expect to wait outside for a while before getting seated. The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, and the service is friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The BBQ shrimp po' boy is unique--hollowed-out bread soaked in a flavorful, soupy sauce, topped with tender sautéed shrimp. It was delicious. The bread was heavenly when soaked in the sauce. And, of course, the creole gumbo was a delicious classic. Highly recommend!
Disappointing service, treated rude by hostess and owner
At least one employee at Liuzza’s by the track needs hospitality training or maybe a transfer to a job where she doesn’t deal with the public. I took my frail 83-year-old sister to Liuzzas for a late lunch on Tuesday, April 30. This was my third visit in three months. The restaurant was full and the attractive, young woman who was in charge of seating at each visit, said the wait would be short, and wrote down my name and told us to sit outside in the muggy heat. Parties of two were leaving often, and we waited. I checked inside but could not get the attention of the young woman. All the seats were full. People kept leaving and entering. I finally got the hostess’ attention and reminded her we were on the list. Imagine my surprise when she said “There is no list, and I can’t stop people from walking in and sitting down.“ I announced to the restaurant that I couldn’t believe that she would treat two elderly people this way. A waitress came over and said please take a seat so we did. The food was great. At one point, I saw the owner (James) walk in, but he fled back to the kitchen and apparently left. These are not the people skills I have received from this beloved New Orleans eatery in the past. If locals get treated like this, Lord help the tourists. This is not what eating in a New Orleans neighborhood restaurant should be all about. I reached out to the owner before any public posting only to be yelled at and berated at when all I was hoping for was a simple apology and assurance the customer care will improve for future visits.
Super tasty bloody Mary's with picketed okra and string
Super tasty bloody Mary's with picketed okra and string beans and olives. Enjoyed these a few mornings in a row before Jazz Fest. It appears to be a thing!
I loved this restaurant.
The ambience was great; very retro. I ordered the 1/2 Meat PoBoy with a cup of gumbo. I had a chicken poboy. The sandwich and the gumbo was delicious. The service was very friendly.

Friendly staff, easy vibe, tasty food! Fried Oyster and shrimp po boys and drinks during Jazzfest.
The gumbo was horrible.
It tasted like dishwater. It had shrimp that was thrown in at the end after the gumbo was heated. Just not good at all.
Went here today for lunch.
It was packed but we didn't have to wait too long for a table. Our waitress was happy and wonderful. When it comes to the food it was just ok. The gumbo was terribly over power with file. I couldn't eat it.

We weren't sure what to expect knowing that Liuzza's has changed management, however, it was just the same as our last visit, absolutely wonderful! It's a neat for lack of a better word neighborhood restaurant and bar. We had the golden beet salad, a fully dressed eggplant po boy, the best onion rings, and the star of the show: the icy cold schooner of Amber. We got there half an hour before the closing and our server took our order quickly but encouraged us to relax and enjoy our meal. I am looking forward to my next visit!

One of the salads and the fries might be vegan and fairly limited choices for vegetarians overall. We decided not to ask questions and got fried okra and fried eggplant. The okra was delicious. I really liked the dill sauce that came with it. The eggplant probably could have been cooked longer. The batter still felt a little liquidy. Our friends loved their BBQ shrimp po boy. Service was great.

Ordered items as main courses, instead of their usual sandwiches, since I can't eat bread. We got huge portions of scrumptious food. Consider splitting main courses!

We were welcomed even we made it nick of time before closing. We ordered Special Fried Oysters, Shrimps & Beignet and Sandwich/Soup (Shrimp Po'Boy and Gumbo). Blue Hurricanes! Did not disappoint. Cozy interior dining!

Stopped in for lunch as I was watching racing at Fairgrounds, the service was prompt and friendly. Started with the gumbo, by far the best I've ever had, an incredible blend of flavors. Then ordered the BBQ shrimp Po Boy, one of the best things I've ever eaten, the roll was outstanding, the shrimp prepared perfectly and the combination of flavors was mouth watering, I will be back!

We drove around looking for some delicious New Orleans flavors and this one had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. Food and service was alike and lack the ambiance we expected especially where the locals go.

4.5 stars! A homey restaurant located in a residential neighborhood and a few other restaurants. I came in on a weekday lunch and they were full. Although they have other tempting items on the menu in terms of po'boys, I got the bbq shrimp one as it is their signature dish. Surprisingly enough, it's actually not bbq sauce but their own concoction of this thick peppery, garlicky, and buttery sauce that you would want to finish clean with the baguette. The serving was enormous for one person! It came in piping hot, fragrant, and it was definitely delicious. If you're skeptic about sautéed shrimp for your po'boys instead of deep fried like I was, this was such a good risk I happy I took. The shrimp was buttery, soft, & perfectly cooked. The dish cost about $18 and I highly recommend.
Shortage of Shrimp?
Wish it had lived up to the reviews. 4 of us went for the gumbo. 3 bowls were ordered and one cup. Not a shrimp in sight. The website says they saute the shrimp right before the gumbo is served. I asked the waitress if gumbo contained shrimp. Of course, she exclaimed. I said, that's funny, there's not one shrimp in these 4 bowls. She just walked off with no comment. Later, one of us found a shrimp about 1/2 the size of a penny.

Excellent bowel of Gumbo and service was polite and respectful. Older restaurant which could use a little updating but still a pleasant experience for lunch
Great off the beaten path Restaurant
What a great off the beaten path restaurant. As always it was a great meal. I seem to always go for the the same thing every time because I know how good it is. I always have the Barbecue shrimp PoBoy. It is so delicious. I highly recommend anyone who likes the true cajun Barbecue Shrimp, this PoBoy is for you.
Wonderful lunch
We had never explored New Orleans outside the walking area around the French Quarter but did to get to Liuzza’s and was it good. The waitresses were great and nice and helpful. We had the gumbo and 1/2 a shrimp and 1/2 an oyster poor boy and they were all excellent. The poor boys were fresh seafood as well as the roll and the gumbo was nice and hot with the right amount of spice. The French roll that we had with it was great for dunking and made the gumbo even better. Overall a great lunch
NOLA excellence all around!!
The vibe, the food, the staff - all deserve to be ranked a 10!! We drove in from Texas and Luizza’s was our first night at dinner!! We loved it!!
