The most amazing experience!!! Food was so delicious! Service was unmatched, and it was overall best experience everyone should try!

4.5A lovely evening and we enjoyed our dinner a lot here, and the staffs were great. We enjoyed so much more than dining at ALMA in the same week. Would definitely recommend!Started with 7 Snacks: lovely, great variety of flavor, texture, and creativity. Only 1 dish fell short among the 7.Main consisted of 5 dishes: love love love the tagliatelle form of squid in seaweed emulsion. Oyster emulsion was memorable as well.Following 3 Desserts sorta fell short compare to the savory dishes though.Service was very attentive at the beginning, never forgot to refill the water, change napkin, etc. But it was obvious it got more overwhelmed for the staffs once the restaurant was completed full. --- a clear difference between a 1 star or 2/3 star restaurant though. Keep it up!

Admittedly this was our first Michelin star restaurant we had ever been to but we really loved the experience and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The ambiance is clean and modern. The staff are so inviting and knowledgeable without being intimidating and pretentious. The food was varied, unique and delicious. There was so much playfulness and pride in their food and I do agree with their use of "moments" instead of "courses."We did both the wine and N/A pairing. We loved the N/A pairing - the wine was good but nothing earth shattering. We were able to get in after making a last minute decision to be put on a waitlist. We were called right as we landed that something opened up and were able to get in same day. We were never asked to tip or felt pressure to do so, we never felt like we were spoken to in a condescending tone (especially since we are on the younger side and as stated in the beginning, do not frequent Michelin restaurants). Would definitely come back and have recommended to anyone going to Lisbon.

Everyone rating this place anything other than 5 stars is absolutely crazy. We came here for dinner and had an absolutely amazing experience. The restaurant is relatively small, so definitely an intimate experience. The aesthetic was really nice and modern looking as well. Service was A+++. Anytime our napkin came remotely close to touching the floor, a waiter was there with a fresh one within seconds. If your drink was close to being finished, waiter was there with a refill. The second you finished a course, they were there to clean the table. They had an impeccable eye for all the little details! The food was phenomenal. Each and every course we had was plated beautifully and tasted fantastic. Normally when you go to a place like this, you expect to leave hungry, but we were stuffed. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone traveling to Lisbon, looking for a nice dinner out!

Just one room and 22 seats, LOCO Restaurante sees 2012 "Top Chef" Alexandre Silva take a seasonal look at Portugal's diversity across 17 "moments."Translated as "crazy," an odd choice given Silva's reliance on microseasonal Ingredients indigenous to his home, it is upon entry that eyes are drawn to a modern open kitchen juxtaposing light woods and greenery.Featuring as many cooks and front of house as guests, the servers professional but scripted in a manner that frequently undermines the intelligence of experienced diners, it was on the recommendation of LOCO's Sommelier that a glass of White was chosen to pair with starters, a Chickpea "Taco" with aged Lamb easily the most memorable while Lettuce with Honey followed by a smoky Cracker offered an excellent one-two punch.Still a hot ticket at six years, elements of modernism atop a solid foundation evidenced by a Bread course that sees Sourdough smeared in housemade Sausage or dipped in traditional Broth, dishes such as an earthy Clam in Foam were unfortunately less successful, though Monkfish and Grilled Pork with Blood Sausage each found success in their simplicity.Unafraid of Offal, tender Cow's Tongue the penultimate savory before umami-driven Eggplant, Dessert comes from Chef Carolina Pereira, her time at Feitoria and El Celler de Can Roca yielding a cloud of Peach atop fragrant Tea Ice Cream and a Goat Cheese Parfait sweetened by Blueberries.Serving Coffee via Siphon, about half apparently discarded by staff who seemed genuinely surprised anyone had seen the brewing mechanism prior, it would be difficult to name a more invigorating use of Melon than the thin layers that arrived atop Lemon Curd and Pine Nuts prior to Mignardises presented via sewing kit.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant is near the basilica up a hill.
It's only 7 tables and one seating, so you can enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace. The space is cool and and has a nice open kitchen, where you can see that the ratio of staff to patrons is almost 1:1. The wine list is exclusively Portuguese. We started with a cuvée de noir from Hibernus (2016), which was great to start. We also tried a Madeira to start. We then went with a drier white and then a Baga. Ultimately, we finished with a port. They do a 17 course tasting for €113, which is a hot deal compared to the US and many other European cities. The food is seafood focused, with a goal of 0% waste. Each dish is called a "moment." Starters: 1. Salted cod with egg yolk and parsley, served on a shrimp cracker 2. Crushed nori roll filled with fish liver mousse and chives - the texture on this was great 3. Seaweed savory pudding with spider crab and sea water foam. Keeping it local, they give you the cute cutipol dessert spoons for the dish 4. Cockles with coridander and lemon, served on a cockle cracker base 5. Stewed oxtail with roasted garlic foam and parsley: this smelled amazing and was very rich and satisfying 6. Suckling pig pie: light flaky crust with a warm pork filling with hints of ginger and soy. It was like an elevated meat pie 7. Oyster with almond milk, lemon juice, smoked lard, lovage, compressed cucumber Bread course: House sourdough (smoked wheat flour), freshly baked, with the following unique accompaniments: - Portuguese steak sauce for dipping - Emulsion of fish collagen and olive oil - House cows butter with lemon verbena, cultured for 6 weeks, topped with Portuguese sea salt - Portuguese cold pressed olive oil Mains: 1. Scalloped shrimp ceviche with a spicy fish sauce vinaigrette and flowers, followed by a shrimp cappuccino (basically an intense shrimp bisque) 2. Mustard seed, savory root, cow tooth broth (yes, cow tooth!)3. Confit cod with fermented garlic and herbs: very rich 4. Stewed lamb with sweetbreads and meat: surprisingly not gamey 5. Crispy pork belly (18 hour sous vide) with a fermented mushroom ad pork broth, and a fried potato roll on the side. The crisped pork skin and the potato roll were great in texture. The pork itself was a bit too fatty for meTransition: Organic strawberry with strawberry reduction and a special glaze. Desserts: 1. Lemon verbena with chili and plums (plum sorbet, dehydrated plums). This was a nice and light dessert with some acid and a nice kick to it from the chili2. "Sheep on a cloud": sheepsmilk condensed milk, ice cream, yogurt foam, meringue - interesting combination of flavors and textures 3. Petit fours: from a sewing box, served on an embroidery hoop: - Nori meringue with kaffir lime mousse in the center - Portuguese Milk tart - Chocolate and peanut frozen sandwich - Cinnamon and honey biscuit - Orange and orange blossom jelly - White chocolate truffle of smoked coconut Coffee service is done tableside, very cool. Every dish comes as a surprise, which is a lot of fun. For me, the moments at the beginning (starters) were the highlights. Each dish had a lot of thought out into being 0% waste. Service was impeccable. They were extremely conscientious about dietary restrictions, which I appreciate. Everyone was very attentive but unintrusive and approachable. It's definitely worth heading out here for a nice dinner if you're in Lisbon. The service is what put them over the top for us.
Be the first to ReplyFor the expense not even close to worth it.
Had 14 courses only 2 were worthwhile. They are trying very inovative things but has to taste good as well.I am so disappointed.Highlight was service but food has to taste good. We're 4 of us here so not just my opinion.Wine selection also very disappointing.I do not know how they get diners

We visited Loco in late March and had the 18-course menu with wine pairing. We enjoyed the meal and the drinks, with the exception of the Russian non alcoholic drink that was very strange. The star of the dinner was the Carabiñero. One star off because our table was wobbly and this is a first in a Michelin star reataurant. Also, we felt sand in our mouths while eating a couple of seafood dishes. The second star I am taking off because we felt pushed to leave a tip when paying. This was also a first in Michelin star reataurant for us. We usually go for the multi course menu which price includes service and we have never been asked nor pushed to leave a tip. Loco's price of 110€ included the service but we were still asked to add to it.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful stamped takeaways that we will frame from well
Beautiful stamped takeaways that we will frame from well hosted and attentive serviced 3hr dinner at this unique restaurant in Lisbon near a picturesque cathedral with about only 16 tables. Made reservations well in advance and given an order number. Email request to change date was not responded to so changed other reservation to make original date. Zelda and I selected the discovery menu for about 12 courses. The loss of 1 star is related to lack of 2 choices like for example D.O.C in Douro region their and generous 1.5 wine pairings and pours there. We didn't ask for wine pairing here so not fair to compare although we thought the last two Porto wines offered were brought introduced as I thought as include but ended up to be 32 euros. It was Zelda's BD celebration and a small Bluetooth like gadget was brought to table to celebrate happy BD music without disturbing other patrons which was a nice touch.. Dinner for 2 was $256 euros and due to portion sizes and food quality is overpriced.. The last deduction was being seated in normally a great corner location but could not get the red fire extinguisher out of any very special occasion pictures.
Be the first to ReplyI just finished and incredible birthday dinner there and
I just finished and incredible birthday dinner there and had a wonderful evening. Excellent staff, great vibe (no old white man pretentiousness like if this was a Michelin 1 Star restaurant in the US), and amazing, strange, and wonderful food. We ended up having 21 courses total (they surprised me with a delicious mini carrot cake for my birthday). Bam!With that many courses, they didn't all hit the bullseye, but I didn't expect them to. It was almost 2 dozen courses, and they are making preparations way outside of what I'm used to. Nobody bats .1000, I don't care who you are and how many stars you have. That being said, except for one or two courses (which were still pretty good), the rest were great. All kinds of wonderful and intriguing textures and flavors. And the wine...from the white port to the sparkling wine, to the different reds we each ordered, to the bottle of rosé, to the ruby and tawny ports we had...all delicious, and all Portuguese! The 1992 tawny port alone was heart-stoppingly good!I can't say enough about the wonderful accommodating staff, and how you can tell they all have a passion, and a huge love, for food.Go, eat, drink, and be merry.
Be the first to ReplyI made a reservation with them for my parents last night in
I made a reservation with them for my parents last night in Lisbon well in advance -- August 5th for a table on October 10th. They sent me a confirmation email on August 5th saying they would get in touch again a day in advance to confirm that reservation.I did not receive any notification from them until 5pm on October 10th saying that they had tried to contact me (I received no missed calls) and that if I didn't reply within the half-hour it would be canceled. Unfortunately for me, I was on a flight from Lisbon to Geneva at that time and did not see that email until 9pm.My parents showed up at the restaurant to be rudely and condescendingly turned away.If they are so worried about filling the seats, why don't they simply take one's credit card info when one makes a reservation? What kind of fine-dining mentality is this to cancel one's reservation a mere few hours before? Where is the room for technological difficulties? If they did indeed try to contact me on Saturday by phone and could not reach me why wouldn't they send me an email then? The staff was not only unhelpful in trying to resolve this, but quite rude.NOT WORTH THE STRESS.
