Muhammad was the best waiter...!
We got this restaurant as part of a package on Wowcher. It included a visit to the Shard and then a meal in the London Steakhouse in Bishopsgate. The welcome was warm from the time we walked in. Then we got a great table and a fantastic waiter. Muhammad (I hope that's the correct spelling) was our waiter and he did a great job advising us about what to have. He was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and all four of us could have ordered it all again. However, I would say that because this was a Wowcher voucher offer we were probably given a "special voucher" menu where the food order was slightly different to what the normal punters would have. But we chose to pay for exactly what we wanted and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

We were gifted an Experience at the restaurant. We were a little uneasy as we don’t usually eat in ‘posh’ places. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was amazing!!

Had the kipper pate which was lovely but only 3 tiny pieces of toast to have with it. Had the boeuf bourginion which was a joke. One piece of beef about 2 inches in diameter and half an inch thick. I was expecting a sort of casserole. Totally underwhelmed.

Staff and restaurant decor/layout was very good. I had a steak meal and found the steak was very gristly which for a restaurant named The London Steakhouse Co was very disappointing.

We enjoyed a nice warm welcome by the manager 0n Tuesday 21st March at the London Steakhouse India House, Middle Street London.. Our server Malek showed us to our table.. We enjoyed our meal and did not feel rushed.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, depressing ambience, poor service.
The food was nice, not exciting but well prepared The entrance is low rent and when we arrived nobody greeted us or even acknowledged us. Eventually we got to the table were given a menu with no explanation of what we had paid for in the package When the waiter arrived and took out other he had no idea what were could have to drink or order. When we asked the receptionist he explained quickly and then disappeared. They forgot to bring the sides and the water and had to be removed half way through reading the food. I have had better food, service and ambience for much less from other will known chefs.

Would be 5 stars but one of our courses was almost missed! My observant dining partner pointed out the error and it was then resolved. Food was good quality and as we had pre-purchased a virgin experience voucher it was good value.

The food was amazing, and the staff were very attentive. Restuarant decour was very appealing. A bit pricey but worth every penny.

on entry was greeted by the manager the menu was explained to us. The service we received was first class and the food and drinks was of the quality i would expect from a restaurant of this standing. Throughly enjoyed our evening there and will recommend the restaurant to others.

Booked as part of a virgin experience voucher and added an upgrade. The restaurant ambience was lovely and nicely decorated modern but also old fashioned. Our waitress was very attentive, food was delicious; sweet potato soup, beef bourgenion was very tender. Highly recommended for a special occasion.

Food was excellent, great choice and the staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again.

Service was far from good. Plates put down without even a word off the waiter to say enjoy. Didn’t ask how our food was or if everything was ok. Waited a long time for desserts and when we asked how much longer we still had to wait another 10 mins for the wrong desserts to be brought out. Food was okay expected a lot better from Marco Pierre white Steakhouse. Disappointed and would not visit again

Went for a lunchtime chanpagne voucher deal. Very attentive staff, friendly atmosphere. Had been asked if we were celebrating anything. Didn't think anything of this as my birthday had been last September. So imagine my surprise when the desert arrived so did a massive firework and they had written happy birthday on my plate. The food was well presented and cooked beautifully. Everything you could ask for for a special occasion.

I can completely understand the reviews for those who have the three course voucher and don't expect that sides have to be paid for. With service change that can certainly prove costly. We now get the £150 voucher when it's on offer at £75.00. This includes a glass of bubbles on arrival, the three courses, two sides, wine of value £35 (admit there isn't a huge choice at that price), water, tea/coffee and no service charge. We think this is really good value for money. We visited on Saturday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, there was a hiccup on arrival in relation to the voucher which was quickly rectified and apologised for. A big shout out to our waitron Darren, what a superb guy who's recommendations certainly hit the spot. Our meals were tasty, both saying the rib eye was one of the best we'd tasted in a long time. The side potions are small but in this case set the mains off perfectly and we were definitely full and content on leaving. So much so we did leave a tip for Darren, it was well deserved and indeed we will go back again - when getting the same voucher as detailed above.

Went as part of a gift package 5 course "Gourmet Menu" I used the word "Gourmet" lightly here. Staff where pleasant enough but food was very average and the £6.50 for 5 onion rings was shameful (and they where clearly frozen). At one point I saw a member of the kitchen staff return with a Tesco bag full of ingredients. Avoid this place, there are much better restaurants in the area.
Be the first to ReplyWent on a voucher...wished we hadn't.
Visited on a voucher that I was given for my birthday for 3 course meal and cocktail. Called to confirm dress code as was spending the day in London and wanted to wear trainers. Was told no. Turned up and some people were in polo necks and tatty trainers. Which didn't bother me but had I know I wouldn't have bothered. The atmosphere and staff are 5 star. Really good and restaurant is nice. However the food quality was not good. Rump steak was really chewy and not good. Pear starter tasteless. Duck main was OK. Beef bourguignon was good. Pate was good. Deserts looked better then they tasted but were OK. I think that given the price and branding there is an expectation that you will have a good meal. At this place it all looks good but really the food quality is really poor compared to what you should get. Maybe if we paid the supplement to get the better steaks this may have improved. In short the 3 course menu was not nice or worthy of a good restaurant. The 1 star is based on food only and not the place location or staff which would have been 5 star. An odd thing to note was that we we on a table by the kitchen. It was busy and my wife kept getting bumped by the waiters as they rushed about. Also on the celling above the table it looked like splats of blood. All in all none of us wouldn't want to eat there again from that menu.
Be the first to ReplyNot a pleasant dining experience
Got this as a virgin experience with shard view and upgraded it to include wine.First thing is not close to shard . Took us two tube lines to get there, not immediately obvious from virgin marketing. But arrived on time . Obvious staff were rushed off their feet . Took 10 mins before some one came to take our drink order . Cocktails were nice but another ten min before dinner order taken . Only three main ( non veg) choices and one of them not available ! Soup came without any bread ! Not sure I have to vet had that before . Food was nice but had to ask waiter for water and filled up our own wine ! No attention at all from them . Cant blame waiters as they were just rushed off their feet . 4 waiters for far too many tables . Meal felt rushed as result. Food was good but nothing outstanding. Had sweet and coffee . Again long wait for that . Service tip was extra but cant begrudge them that . Overall not a pleasant experience . But guess a good money earner for Marco ! Just seemed like a churn place, get them in and out . Would not recommend.

This was a birthday present from Virgin with a view from the Shard and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse meal. As with a previous review we were under the impression the Steakhouse was in the Shard or near by and it was by pure chance we called the restaurant and found it was further away. Luckily we did manage to get a taxi at the cost of £22 to arrive on time. The wording Marco Pierre White seems to have disappeared from the restaurant as its just The London Steakhouse. The steak was beautifully cooked but as with his restaurant in Nottingham we expected chunky fresh cooked chips not frozen fries. The staff were friendly and attentive but will have to say the restaurant in Nottingham far exceeds this one in London. Drinks selection was very limited.
Be the first to ReplyVirgin Experience, View from the Shard and Steakhouse
Absolute con. We were under the impression that the restaurant was in the Shard not a half hour walk away. Consequently we missed our 3 course meal as it was too far from the tube Station and there were no taxis available. The doorman had advised that this happens virtually everyday so definitely a real flaw in the brochure small print. Total waste of time and money.

Had the unfortunate experience of visiting the London Steak House this evening we had paid £155 for a vip voucher when we arrived the menu included an extra £36. for chateau briand which basically came up as a carved fillet steak had to pay extra for a few French fries and a salad total bill came to £200 which included a cheap bottle of plonk refused to pay service charge. and complaint to Matrieu Dee on leaving who basically was.not interested we would have been better off going to a weatherspoons where I doubt if we would have paid more than £50.00
Needless to say we will.not be going back plenty of other good value venues in the same area

Great food - Bad service
The guy that seated us at the table was exceptionally rude when he completely stuffed up explaining the menu after we told him who was dining on a gift experience and who was not! Manger made up for it after he saw our facial expressions with free champagne but this original guy set the tone for me and therefore was less enjoyable. He should be sacked as we overhead another argument conversation with a patron when we entered the restaurant! Think he is South American or something?
The chefs though are amazing as the food is extremely good so if they sort the service out - would recommend BUT careful if you going on a gift voucher as it’s “smoke and mirrors” and not transparent at all so for 3 people and two bottles of wine at £40 each - it still cost £145 with a £200 gift voucher - like wow! So expensive and I couldn’t quite understand their rationale (hence smoke and mirrors) so at the end of the day - great food, bad service and billing not transparent!
Superb!
Visited for first time as part of a London break for myself and wife. Virgin Experience deal. I was earlier concerned by some negative reviews but I can simplify our opinion of our meal and the service in one word. Superb!!. The steak was done medium/well done as requested by both myself and wife. I would honestly say that this was the best steak I have ever had. You will need to add side dishes (which are extra) as the steak will look very lonely by itself. Wife chose just the fries. I chose the fries and salad. We both chose the passion fruit for drinks (as part of deal). Lovely and refreshing and particularly attractive in their shallow glasses. We both chose apple pie and ice cream (again as part of deal). Lovely! The Virgin Experience deal cost for the meal was an extra £20 (side dishes) so we paid £65 total. We chose not to pay the 12.5% discretionary service charge but in hindsight the staff probably deserved it as very professional. However, I treated our lovely waitress to a tenner which brought a lovely smile. For £65 our meal in lovely surroundings was a bargain at London prices. Thank you Steakhouse for making part of our 3 day trip to London a very special occassion. John and Lynne. P.S. The restaurant is in a lovely area with a bustling pub nearby. Easy to walk past the restaurant (as I did) if not looking hard enough for it o.k. It justifies having a large sign outside or something to let future diners know where it is. p.s. I don't understand some of the negative reviews I came across earlier. Either diners don't know what a 'discretionary service charge' is or they are stupidly fussy and overly snobby eaters who don't recognise a quality meal along with quality service. I have only one negative and that some of the tables a little to close to one another. One chap was just a foot away from me. Apart from that a lovely experience.

Thank goodness the food was OK because the service was not.
The maitre d' needs to learn that not every disability can be seen and when a guest asks for a different table for a perfectly acceptable reason then sarcasm is not required when asked how much longer the replacement table will be.
Our table waiter was perfunctory, at best.
No one asked how our meal was.
The plates were plonked on the table.
And, in case the restaurateur reads this, both the cocktail sauce and the tartare sauce were too vinegary.
A very nice meal bought via Itison but wine was extortionate!
We bought a 3 course menu for 2 from Itison for £50 and managed to book our table at 5.45 on Tuesday evening. The restaurant atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing, comfy chairs, dimmed lighting, soft background music and great staff. The food was very good. We had prawn cocktail which was yummy and the sea bream dish with capers was delicious. A great sticky toffee pudding to follow and a very nice cocktail which was included in the voucher price. The downside was that the cheapest 175 ml glass of white wine was just over £13 which is extortionate even for London prices. By the time we had paid for the 1 beer and 1 glass of wine, the discretionary 12.5% service charge and 2 side dishes of broccoli and French fries for £6.50 each, we had to pay a further £49. To a certain extent, I felt the voucher is intended to reel you in with the intention of extracting more money from you. I find this rather deceitful.
