Incredible.
Love the patio, the paella and the pan e tomata. One of my favorite restaurants!
Be the first to ReplyDon't expect this dinner to bring you back to Basque
Don't expect this dinner to bring you back to Basque Country. I didn't expect it to, but I also didn't expect it to bring me back to Dodger Stadium! Astronomical prices that simply did not match what was delivered. Their $11 pan con tomate -- a dish that leaned far closer to sauce-soaked free bread at an Italian restaurant than to the less-is-more Spanish dish we had hoped for -- is perhaps the most glaring example of this.We left disappointed that the meal didn't deliver on the Basque nostalgia that we were hoping for but also feeling a little ripped off. This is coming from San Francisco residents who expect to spend at least $100pp for a decent night out. I guess I was really looking forward to a restaurant leaning into the great seafood that SB has to offer, and I thought that this format was well-suited. Not this time unfortunately.
Be the first to ReplyI had no issues with the service.
However, the menu was extremely expensive even for Santa Barbara standards. Starting with the drinks. $14 for a Sangria that had way too much ice in a smallish glass. It tasted OK, not great. $35 for Jamon Serrano charcuterie that had scarsly any Jamon with four little pieces of bread and tomato sauce. It tasted good. Paella Mariscos was overly salty and sour, for $55 there was not enough of it either. This is one restaurant that will be off my list of eateries to go to.

Foodies rejoice! You'll recognize Sergei @chefsimonov as Loquita's Executive Chef from the Netflix show "Pressure Cooker". I had figured that out after scrolling through their intagram, and thought it'd be a "fun fact" to mention in my review, in case anyone else also watched the show. We had dinner reservations for two on a Saturday evening right around opening time and were quickly seated at a nice table by the windows and offered water + drinks (they have a full bar with an extensive menu). Our waitress was very helpful in guiding us on what and how much to order. She recommended 4 tapas or a combination of 1 paella and 2 tapas. We ended up going with Patatas Bravas, Pulpos, and the Pescado (a larger dish). No regrets, all were very delicious. I will make it a point to return and try the Paella (we passed this time, in favor of more variety). The Patatas Bravas was my personal favorite. The general manager, Gerardo Ibarra, helped serve each dish and explained them all to us. It's clear how passionate and knowledgable they are about their food! I definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area. IG: @hetty_song

Loquita is one of my go-to date night spots in Santa Barbara. The restaurant has super cute vibes that make it perfect for an evening out!Although I enjoyed the Pan con Tomate + Jamón Ibérico, I found it a little plain. The bread was also a bit soggy, and the combination of tomato and bread didn't match that well. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend getting this dish. The Carpaccio de Carne was okay, but it didn't blow my mind. I feel like I've had better carpaccio before, and this one was a bit too sour for my taste. On the other hand, the Mariscos Paella was excellent, and I would highly recommend it. The flavor was amazing, and the portion size was huge. I would totally come back and get this again. However, keep in mind that it takes about 40 minutes for them to prepare, so order it early.Lastly, Loquita has a great dessert selection, and I tried the Basque cheesecake, which was well executed.

Came here to celebrate for a friends Bachelorette party dinner. The ambiance of Loquita is absolutely beautiful. The outdoor patios give off Spanish villa vibes. Perfect date night place. Also they have heat lamps outdoors so we were never cold even on a winter night. Service was amazing and they even gave us complimentary sparkling wine to celebrate! Everything we ordered was delicious!

Loquita was delicious and service was phenomenal! We got the sangria roja, short rib paella, the jamón sampler, the baya de oro, and my partner had a a croquette (the only non-gf dish). I told the waiter I had celiac and we was incredibly knowledgeable and told me which dishes were gluten free (many!!). There are also vegetarian options. Everything was delicious and we will be coming back for sure for drinks and dessert (there is a gluten-free cheesecake and at least one other dessert!!). I highly recommend!

Be the first to ReplyBrilliant and special place.
The food is amazing, we tried 3-4 things and they were all amazing. The paella is the best I've ever had. Loved experiencing this place since it does have a great reputation. The atmosphere is calming, cozy and romantic. The setup is beautiful and the service is immaculate. The dishes and cocktails are pricey but this place is completely worth it. Cocktails were delicious and we did a sherry flight too. I will definitely come back in the future when I'm in town.

..you have an absolutely special place in my heart! For my birthday this year, my partner Imo decided to surprise me with a very special dinner reservation at Loquita! Now I have always wanted to eat here and always saw photos of the place and I was not disappointed on the least! The ambiance of Loquita is very intimate. Dimly lit and beautiful decor for an evening to remember. My girlfriend and I were able to have a small table to ourselves and while the restaurant was pretty full, we felt cozy and had privacy at our table. The service was absolutely beautiful and our waiter for the evening went through every detail with us. He broke down the drinks, the food and asked what types of flavor profiles we enjoyed to make sure we had the best dining experience possible. Now when I tell you the food is to die for... I mean that! We had two appetizers to start with spicy meatballs and crispy brussels sprouts and it was absolutely fantastic! We then had the Chorizo y Pollo Paella and it was my absolute favorite dish! Everything about the meal was perfect and I had a beautiful gin cocktail to pair with it. The flavors were fantastic, the meat was so tender and flavorful, the seasoning paired beautifully with my gin cocktail and my compywas perfection! My birthday was that much more special with this amazing experience and I have my partner Imo to thank for it all! I highly recommend getting reservations for Loquita as it is hard to get a dinner table here. I cannot wait until I dine here again and truly look forward to seeing the different menu as it does change every so often. Until next time Loquita!

Great food; great service! Miko was our server, and she was fabulous! She thoroughly described the menu items; gave us delicious recommendations, and we left knowing we'll definitely be back! We sat on the heated patio, and the ambience was perfection! This place needs to be on your go-to list!
Be the first to ReplyLoquita's food is great.
The waitress we had was great. It is definitely expensive, so be prepared for that. It is very popular and not easy to park. You need a reservation and patience is dealing with getting seated. I thought the Bocaditos were so tiny that it wasn't worth getting them. The small bites were REALLY small bites - like a teeny taste. If it is anywhere near warm enough to be outside in the patio, you should be outside. The inside is fine, but the patio is lovely, especially at night.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has great ambiance.
The hostess was super nice. They gave me a handwritten note for my bday. Which was nice. However I noticed other tables celebrating their birthdays got a song/dessert. Our waitress did not do that. She seemed rushed and annoyed the whole time. We ordered over $200 worth of food and she seemed annoyed when we didn't want to order more. The food was alright. The quality does not match up to the price tag. I LOVE tapas. I was so excited to find a tapas place to have my birthday dinner at. But nothing stood out to me. My fiancé and best friend really enjoyed the octopus. That is the one dish I did not try. I do not think I would return here unless the quality is picked up.
Be the first to ReplyI had an amazing time at Loquita the other night.
My friend and I had reservations at 5:30, right when they opened and were seated promptly. The employees are very personable and knowledgeable. We ordered the brussel sprouts, which were incredible and the tortilla Española, both to share. We also each ordered the mushroom croquette and I ordered the cheese filled date as well. The date was very very flavorful and the croquettes were lukewarm. We were going to order the paella, but the menu notes that it takes 40 min to prepare. The waitress informed us that the plate would only take 20 min since they had just opened, but we decided to pass on it this time. This was my second visit and I will definitely be back. I hadn't been here in years, but wholeheartedly recommend. The restaurant is very clean and open; it was full by the time we left.

This restaurant is amazing! It was my first time trying Spanish food and I loved everything I ordered. The staff was very professional. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful as well. The food came out on time and the atmosphere was overall great! I will definitely come back.

This was a really fun meal with great service, and the ambience makes it a nice restaurant for a date.Paella: The rice was good and the seafood was fresh, which is exactly what I want out of a paella. 4.5/5Octopus: Very tender, and the potato purée complemented the octopus really nicely. 5/5Lettuce: The avocado was interesting. 3/5Pan con Tomate: the additional jamon was definitely the right move 4/5Churros: you get 3 dips: dulce de leche, raspberry vanilla, and chocolate. This was easily one of the highlights of the meal, and the sweetness was heavenly. Dulce de leche was by far my favorite, but all three were good, and plenty of sauce was given. 5/5

We were able to get in really fast because we sat at the bar. But the wait would've been over an hour if we waited for a regular table, but that's expected on a Saturday night in Santa Barbara. The food was good and the portions were a decent size.

This is one of my favorite places. I went last night to celebrate a special event and the food was outstanding. As was the wine selection. As well as our server, Marc, and all the staff. He was extremely knowledgeable, very professional, and yet warm and friendly.Do yourself a favor and check out Loquita. I cannot recommend it more highly. Their paella will spoil you for any other paella.

The food and experience was perfect! We went here for an anniversary dinner and were greeted with a cute happy anniversary post card. I recommend the Pulpo, Champiñones and croquettes. The cocktails and wine list was also amazing. Great time!
Be the first to ReplyCame here summer 2021 for dinner.
Excellent service. Outdoor garden patio seating was romantic, lively, and picturesque for a summer SB evening. On top of that the food + drinks were delicious--the patatas bravas were super memorable. I've been hooked on this dish since! The tortilla (omlette) was also so good as was the gazpacho drop. Will definitely be back when in town again.
Be the first to ReplyWell, first visit since the pandemic and yeah.
. they increased their prices and/or decreased their portions. Also, on a Wednesday night our dinner took 3 hours. And no, that's not cause we were slow. They brought one tiny dish at a time.. including asparagus. I mean who wants to eat asparagus on its own? Not me. Had to ask 3 different people for the menu mid-dinner. Bottom line, the food is not bad but is getting quite expensive and the service is very slow. The gin and tonic drinks... are so watery and kinda tasteless. I am really disappointed

Great for some Spanish flair to celebrate my wife's birthday! The setting and hosts are very nice and helpful and take the time to explain everything on the menu. Service is meant to be slow and to have a nice casual sit-down and talk while enjoying the beach weather. Everything we got came with great expectations and were so delicious. Would reccomend for a nice night out. Definitely recc the pulpos!

I've been fortunate enough to have traveled across Spain, familiarizing myself with food ranging from the mountains of Montserrat in Catalonia, to tiny towns in Andalusía, the capital - Madrid, and everything in-between. I can say with full confidence that Loquita has one of the greatest offerings for Spanish dining in the entirety of Southern California. Loquita is in elite company. Nothing has compared thus far, as Chef Jasmine Shimoda's artistic excellence shines through highlights that include dishes like: the Marisco's Paella, Tortilla Española, and Esparragos Savory and full of flavor, the combination variety of each aspect compliments in a unique and unexpected way - from the hints of lemon aioli, sprinkled leek chives, a dash of arbequina olive oil, and satisfying taste and sound of the paella's golden crust is enough to make you want to visit this restaurant right now.The executive kitchen staff performance is impressive with their immaculate culinary detail, complimenting each successive course effortlessly. The drink and overall ambiance are great additions to an already strong performance.I'm excited to come back to explore the other offerings that Loquita has on display - from the bocaditos, queso additions, and the famous charcutería "star," the famous Iberian Jamón. I look forward to eating here again, and I hope you will too.

Oh boy, here it goes:) So being part Spanish, I am sort of picky when it comes to this cuisine. Let me just say right off, the setting, ambiance, and service are wonderful. I believe those that cook here are talented, and that is where it ends for me.I was raised eating Spanish food all my life. so let's just set the record straight, this is over half of a century!! Are you ok? Or did that number just make you say " Dang your old" and you fell off your chair?! LolLocated in a nice little area of Santa Barbara on a strategic corner, it sets for a nice ambiance and setting. Okay, time to move on with this review. So my impression of the food and the wine? Was not impressed with the authenticity of the food at all, nor the Sangria. This IS NOT classically Spanish in the least. Not sure what I would call it. An American take on Spanish food with a completely different twist? We first ordered a couple of tapas before our paella. We ordered Croqueta de Queso, which was supposed to be filled with cheese, piquillo pepper, and membrillo ?? What, were they hidden?! This was more of a bechamel sauce..yuk topped in like a green Mayonaise, what is this? YUK!! This is not authentic, and honestly not what was posted! Each croquette is $5.00, and that was just way overpriced, but more is coming.Next, we ordered these sauteed mushrooms, Champiñones. According to the menu royal trumpet mushrooms, mojo Verde, crispy leeks, px sherry vinegar. Really?! So where was the mojo Verde( green mojo) oh let me guess on the Croquettes with the green mayonnaise? Lol We are lucky if we had 2 tablespoons of chopped mushrooms not trumpet in oil and perhaps some garlic and a bit of vinegar, that is it!! Now, this is all for the whopping price of $17.00. Personally, we should of ordered something else. Drum roll, please!! Now comes this so-called " Chorizo y Pollo Paella"- If anyone from Spain would have seen this they would have cringed!! I was speechless. In my mind I was thinking ok, I notice the chicken, but what is this. OMG, can I just tell you it was surrounded by an array of aioli droplets on top of the Paella and Shishito Peppers on top, are you serious? I should of been reading the menu in small print better. I had to slap myself a few times thinking" What the heck" It did not look terrible, just weird and most certainly NOT PAELLA.Here comes the taste test, it had so much spicy seasoning, I coughed a few times. IT was not from a normal Spanish type of seasoning, and the rice was very strange. I hardly tasted Saffron. I never saw any chorizo, was it cut in small pieces? The chunks of chicken were nice, but that is it. Honestly, this reminded me so much of Jambalaya ( New Orleans signature dish). It was more of Jambalaya than a Paella. Mind you we ordered 2 Red Sangrias glasses. This was tempranillo, torres 10yrs brandy, lemon, allspice- I did not taste the brandy, but I most certainly tasted allspice. So my question is why allspice??Why is it necessary for many restaurants to change up Spanish cuisine? Go visit Spain and try their food and indulge yourself. When you come back, you will notice this is not authentic at all and quite wonder what it is? Would I return, probably not? We waited to be seated an additional 15 minutes after our reservation. I am giving them a 3 star, because quite frankly for 2 of us to pay over 126.00 for this meal for 2 including tip was not worth even 50.00. So there you have it!!
