Terrible overpriced salty food rude service. I will never return. Poor ambiance and all staff encountered were rude especially the restaurant manager .
Be the first to ReplyWonderful dinner and beautiful spot in the heart of London!
It’s my first time to try this spot which was highly recommended by a dear friend. It did not disappoint! We ordered several seafood dishes like seabass, tuna and monkfish etc, they were all very fresh and delicious. Service by Pauline made the whole experience very pleasant. It’s a lovely spot on the second floor and they have a nice bar on the third floor, which we checked out after dinner with our amazing host Vanya. Highly recommend!

I didn’t try the restaurant. We had a table for the bar in the 3rd floor. Beautiful place. Nice ambiance. When my friend booked her table there was a note in small letters saying that tables were required by 9pm or need to pay some minimum spent. Our table was for 7:45pm. So it was not making much sense.the waiter told us we would need to leave. We asked what time we needed to return it back. We were informed by 10PM. When dj would start playing. Then I believe the manager came around, and we asked if we could stay longer. He never came back to revert. So we thought it was ok to stay. Until a waitress came around and poured almost a quarter bottle of wine in JUST ONE GLASS. We were in 6 people. Some glasses almost empty and she totally ignored. A bit before she was already removing the glasses without asking if we had finished and without informing us that we would need to leave by 10PM. Terrible customer service experience for a place like this. They have a good price for cocktails but their wine menu is very small and the wines between £65-£85 were horrible options. Very very weak. We even asked if we could get a table at the restaurant. It was available online. But before we decided to check the wine menu of the restaurant. There were just a few more options than the bar and also not the best. It doesn’t go well for the place the small wine selection. The bar snacks were ok. The truffle toasties were nice. The arancini very average. I would like to go back but I do think they need to get better in their table service

Popped in for a drink after dinner at the ivy. 4 of us walked into doorway and bouncer came over said aggressively that it was closed and physically man handled our girls out of the door and pulled it into their faces. When we confronted him for being physical with our girls he then tried to fight us shouting at us and swearing outside the venue. Spent thousands here since it opened and this behaviour is not ok. Will not be going back.

Unfortunately, I have experienced a quite unpleasant situation on New Year’s Eve. I am still shocked by how I was treated, or should I rather say , harassed by a member of the staff, I assume a waiter. I do not know the name of the person but I can describe him as a tall man probably in his 40’s wearing a quite colorful shirt and gray suit. I was enjoying my drink and the music next to the DJ console ( where many other people were ) when this person started making his way through the crowd quite aggressively, screaming and pushing me several times. At a certain point he started screaming “move , move , move! “ in an incredibly rude manner. When I told him that this was not the way to treat clients he promptly screamed, gesticulating animatedly “if you are not happy you can leave, this is my house and you can just leave “ He also tried called other members of the staff to kick us out. Needless to say that I was totally shocked by such an aggressive and harassing behavior, especially when I understood that he wanted me to move to be next to the DJ and dance! Over the course of the night I haven’t received any apology from this person but he actually continued with his intimidating and awfully abusive behavior, making me feel unconfortable and unwelcomed. It is unacceptable that after paying an entrance of 100£ for me and my friend and for much more on drinks, one has to be treated the way I was.
Be the first to ReplyA Bitter Experience at Louie Alligator Bar: Discrimination, Disregard for Customers' Equality, and a Missed Opportunity
As an interior designer and architect specialising in the luxury hospitality industry, I have always held Louie Alligator Bar in high regard. Its reputation for stunning design and captivating atmosphere made it a must-visit destination. So, when I was given the opportunity to review the establishment, I was thrilled. However, my recent visit left me surprised and confused, as the remarkable aesthetics and ambience could not compensate for the subpar customer service, evident discrimination, disregard for customers' equality, and a missed opportunity to share the experience with my sister. Excited to share the ambience of Louie Alligator Bar with a loved one, I had invited my sister to join me. However, what was meant to be a memorable evening turned into a disappointing encounter for both of us. From the moment we entered, it was clear that we stood out as the only black females in the venue. Instead of being treated as valued guests, we were met with discrimination and a lack of equality in the service provided. We didn’t want to read too much into this and agreed to ignore it at the start. We booked for a table and asked to be moved to the bar to continue our experience. As we waited at the bar to be served, the staff approached me, mistaking me for an employee, and asked me to replace the receipt for their cash machine. It was disheartening to be treated as an outsider rather than a customer, and this incident highlighted the dismissive and discriminatory treatment we experienced throughout our visit. Furthermore, when we were sat our table the demanded for immediate payment of the bill, which was not extended to others nearby, only added to our growing sense of alienation. It was disheartening to witness such instances of discrimination and the absence of equality in an establishment that had the potential to provide an extraordinary experience. However, I told my sister not to read into it and to enjoy the res of the experience. We slowly noticed the staff's behaviour towards us was noticeably different compared to their interactions with other patrons (when they say it’s your own people, I finally understand why that saying exists…..so, so SAD!). We were subjected to remarks about being in the way, while those standing beside us were not, we relocated 3times and we kept getting told the same but others around us were again not . The disregard for our presence and the lack of equal treatment left us feeling unwelcome and marginalised but we didn’t want it to be a thing AGAIN, so we kept ordering more drinks and just tried to enjoy the experience because the venue was a vibe! Louie Alligator Bar's beautifully crafted design and captivating ambience set the stage for a memorable evening, but the subpar customer service, evident discrimination, and missed opportunity to share the experience with my sister overshadowed these positive aspects. As an interior designer and architect, I firmly believe in the importance of creating inclusive environments where all individuals are treated with respect and equality. It is disheartening to encounter discrimination and witness the missed opportunity for Louie Alligator Bar to provide an enjoyable experience for diverse customers. Louie Alligator Bar must address these issues promptly, fostering an environment that values and respects all patrons equally. By doing so, they can create an inclusive space that not only celebrates their remarkable design but also ensures that every customer, regardless of their background, feels welcome and appreciated. The only photo uploaded is of the best part of our experience, the incredible mixologist at the bar that literally treated us the same as everyone else and made the most incredible old fashioned mescal that made us want to stay and order again, and again!

Amazing food!! The place is amazing and the vibes are tres chic! Tarte tartin was to die for, but the star of our night was our waiter Amir! Thanks to him we’ll become regulars!!!
Be the first to ReplyLovely room, friendly service, poor food.
Lovely room, nice design, friendly staff, music too loud (especially if you sit under a speaker), the food is poor - if it was based on the food it will get 1 or 2 stars. But the friendly service and nice rooms lifts the place. The kitchen needs to be sorted out ASAP - good luck with that.

Service was phenomenal in the first floor restaurant. The staff are exceptional. The sommelier in particular went way over and above to find a wine I loved and really set the tone for a wonderful evening. The food was spectacular and everything cooked perfectly. I love the decor and ambiance set and the only slight negative I would say is music was turned up a little too much as our seats were next to the speakers.

Dropped in for a cocktail and dessert to satisfy a craving. I sat with the bartender Stefan who had designed the whole cocktail menu and was super friendly in explaining why he chose different elements of the cocktails - hugely insightful and interesting. We went for the Kiki and the Pineapple Picker. Both beautifully tasty, visually gorgeous and fun flavours. The best cocktails we’ve ever had. We also had the pecan pie and again, it was the best I’ve ever had. It took a short while to come, but it was so worth the wait. Each separate layer was delicately created and placed. Service was perfect too - couldn’t fault it. It is expensive but worth it for a great. Whole experience had attention to detail and I left happy. Thank you all and particularly Stefan.
Be the first to ReplyA restaurant I m never ever going back!
Louie used to be one of my favourite restaurants in London. When it first opened everything was great! Unfortunately it’s been over 3 months now that every time I go there is always something wrong. The last time I went though everything was terrible! The service was extremely bad! We had the rigatoni with truffle and they never came to serve us the truffle. They also kept bringing wrong dishes. The overall ambience was sad as everyone was complaining and the staff seemed like they didn’t know how to do their job! We spent £120 each for the worst experience ever!!!

Very good place and very nice evening! Everything was fine and we were very satisfied and happy with the service thanks to Stefano!

Delicious food, all the staff are so friendly & lovely and the live music upstairs is always so much fun! Such talented musicians play there. Louie is my favourite place in London for a night out by far! X

A thoroughly deserved 1 star goes to Louie! We visited on Saturday night. Food was ok, but lacking in flavour apart from salt. The turbot was overcooked. Our server was fine if slightly overfamiliar. The service, however, continued downhill and ended up somewhere below gutter. At 21.45 we were brought dessert menus. At 21.50 Assistant Manager sidled over to tell us they need our table back. He did not address the dessert faux pas, but whatever, fair enough. He suggested we can move to the downstairs bar and escorted us there, promising our remaining wine would follow. He mumbled ‘this is on me’ (what it was, we never found out) and disappeared, dumping the four of us standing in the middle of a busy bar, holding our coats and bags! We attempted to sit down at a table but were ordered off it by another staff, because it was reserved (she also disappeared after this valuable contribution). We stood around for a while and had time to observe just how chaotic the place and staff were. I finally asked the bar staff to call FOH. A chap appeared (Louie’s Director of Operations) and instead of resolving anything, proceeded to quiz me and my friend about our accents! He persisted even after being told, twice, that we are locals. Totally intrusive and irrelevant. It may come as a revelation that non-English people do indeed live in London. After this bizarre exchange, he concluded “well, we are very busy tonight”. Call me naive, operating a busy restaurant is precisely what I’d expect its director to do on Saturday evening, but there you go. He then disappeared, which was a bit of a theme. After some more chaos and confusion, the original Assistant Manager chap reappeared. As a side note, our remaining wine bottle had finally been located by the staff, who then poured its contents into one glass almost to the brim! Anyway, Assistant Manager was unhappy to hear that we were unhappy. He told me “you are rude, I’m not speaking to you”. A genius move when dealing with dissatisfied clients, it has to be said! He was generous enough to speak to my partner, who was also completely fed up. While not being spoken to, to my absolute shock I became aware of a hefty bouncer who they’d brought in to help intimidate us, four middle-aged professionals not happy with the shambolic service! At that point it had started resembling a seedy provincial club, which judging by the obnoxious behaviour of its management sounds about right. The evening had been completely ruined and we couldn’t get out of that awful place fast enough. We paid our bill, ensuring the service charge was removed from it. Funny, they were quite efficient taking our money! I am further shocked to learn Louie is owned by Paris Society group, in whose other restaurants (CoCo Paris for example) we’ve had wonderful time! They should be interested to know how their brand is being contaminated in London by these people. In hindsight, staff rudeness and bad service is a common theme in other reviews for Louie on Google and Tripadvisor. In conclusion, if you are a foodie with high standards and expectations, give it a wide berth. We are lucky enough to live in one of the world’s greatest cities awash with marvellous restaurants at every price point. Leave this one to impressionable ‘influencers’ keen to be ‘seen in places’ who don’t know any better. P.S. For excellent Creole food and proper southern welcome I recommend the Plaquemine Lock and for lovely French experience, The 10 Cases, both highly rated by Jay Rayner, not by an instagrammer.
Be the first to ReplyAVOID - WORST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO
Avoid at all costs, the worst restaurant I have ever ever been to in my whole entire life. Unless you’re looking for food poisoning which 4 of our guests currently have this morning after eating Oysters and their worst described dish, “BBQ LOBSTER (1KG) £98 CREOLE SPICED BUTTER SAUCE” it should have read “5 small bite size pieces of lobster on a wet slice of toast drowned in Vinegar and gravy mixed sauce. One of our party ordered the steak which came drowned In a sauce, not on the side, all.over.the.top. Risotto was absolutely vile, it was watery and tasted like “mint” again no mention of mint on the description. Drinks were shocking, our waiter kept forgetting about us. No top ups or new drinks unless we asked, and also couldn’t understand us. Very frustrating. Now for the absolute worst part, THE MANAGER. I have never in all my life been to a restaurant and been made to feel the way he made us feel. He stunk of cigarette smoke. He was rude, arrogant, condescending and In my opinion in the complete wrong profession. An absolute shambles from start to finish, I will never ever be returning or recommending.

The expectation for atmosphere here is quite high as it relates to Chiltern. While Louie doesn't struggle with Identity - it does with both service and food. We started with a cocktail on the rooftop which was lovely - Other than that, the overall experience was poor, especially for the price. Food and service were both sub-par for Michelin star price points. Will not be returning for food - great space for a cocktail in the city before a dinner elsewhere.
Be the first to Replynice evening ruined by a very rude manager
food and service was good; although one or 2 items were missing from the menu. that did not matter as there was a wide choice on the menu. At the end we were told that we could go to the upstairs bar and so we left the table quickly in anticipation that we would be allowed upstairs. We could not access the internal left so were asked to go outside to wait and were then told that the bar was full. We were left standing on a freezing cold night and after 20 minutes went home. Manager was so rude to us when we complained. Complete tw**.
Be the first to ReplyMeh...and expensive!
We visited Louie for a cocktail on December 28, and we expected live music and a lively atmosphere. However, the place was deadly quiet - I understand that between Christmas and New Year there is a 'down time' - but it was rather disappointing. The cocktails (London prices, obviously) were only ok. The decor is quite cool, but we were anticipating more of a 'speakeasy' vibe.

I tried calling this restaurant three times.. It goes straight to voicemail with no sound. Is it not possible to speak to anyone on the number provided on their website?

A real gem in the heart of the city! Ambiance, service, cocktails, food and music all get five stars! Live jazz ensemble at the bar on the second floor hard to beat! A night to remember…
Be the first to ReplyEmpty flop pretentious restaurant
I live in central london and ventured to the Covent Garden to dine here. Even though it was an empty restaurant in a tourist area, the stuck up attitude from staff was immense. From looking me up and down - which I let slide as I assumed the waitress was a fan of my Sophia Webster heels; to seating us down in a basement diner area when the main restaurant ( with its beautiful decor, candles etc) was empty: as in not one guest. I was furious. I demanded to see the manager, who is even more ruder than the staff and told him to cancel the dinner order ( he backtracked and said he can sit in the main restaurant) unfazed, I paid for cocktails and left. They are next door to the Ivy. I have dined at the worlds most exclusive Michelin rated restaurant. I don’t need to take crap from a rookie restaurant in a tourist district.
Be the first to ReplyRude, Unfriendly and Hostile Environment
Overpriced food and even though we spent almost £1000 at the restaurant on a friend’s birthday, the bar manager was using the words such as “I need to have a word with you”, “place like this…” when we took some photos at the rooftop bar. We were not informed on any particular rules at the bar, in fact, we were offered to get photos taken by a waitress to start off it. Then all of the sudden, the bar manager started having a go at us and pressured us to leave saying how busy the bar would be when there were only 2 tables at time. I made a compliant and got pressured to go inside the lift while the bar manager continued to argue. There was no such thing as “putting clients first” at this place. Instead, “clients are wrong” at this place. We did not feel welcoming and there wasn’t any reason the restaurant/bar could explain how we were treated differently except that we took photos on the special occasion. Please avoid this place.
