Poor service, very underwhelming experience
Overall, seriously underwhelmed. Food was fine, but service was not. From the valet, to the hostess, to our server, nobody was welcoming or friendly. We had drinks, appetizers, and mains and were rushed by servers so did not order desserts. We left an item behind and called and left a message to request a return call, but nobody ever called us back. My husband had to call again and was told no items were left (he said he wasnโt sure anyone even checked the safe), so we had to cancel our credit card. We do not recommend and would not return.

The place is beautiful, a very varied menu and a great wine list. Our dish was delicious, but the service left something to be desired. We hadn't made a reservation, and both the hostess and the table attendant showed little patience. We didn't feel comfortable in the restaurant.

We came here for my wife's birthday. I wanted something special and it was--one of the best culinary experiences I've had in Cleveland. The staff was outstanding; our server was Donald. He made a great recommendation on the wines. We couldn't decide on entrees so he asked if it would be OK if he surprised us; knowing that we are vegetarian, he had the kitchen prepare two half-portions of pasta. This was above and beyond. The food was so decadently good. Appetizers were good--although the eggplant was undercooked and a bit chewy. The main courses were outstanding. The setting is beautiful with views of the Cuyahoga River and the seagulls flying around in the black sky. There is valet parking and self-park. All in all, a really special experience.
Be the first to ReplyLoved the food, loved the service. Veal was prepared perfect. This is the place to go and worth trying.
This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to in years. Loved everything about this experience. This is the some of the best veal I have had in years.

This restaurant was rated in the top 10 restaurants in Cleveland to visit. It earned its spot with my husband and I! We would rate it #1 for Italian food. The food was amazing and the service matched. Lisa took amazing care of us with a smile and we were in awe watching Scary work the restaurant. Both true assets. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Of all the first-time restaurants weโve dined at in 2023, this has been by far the best! View is great; ambiance terrific; hospitality is first class; the food delicious. Shout-out to Merita who waited on usโknowledgeable and professional. Thereโs so many good places to eat in Cleveland that itโs tough to get back for a second visit, but this place is going into our regular rotation.

An excellent experience. I would highly recommend this menu, hospitality and the environment. I give this rating an A+++

Went to Luca this evening expecting a good meal and atmosphere based on prior reviews and local recommendations. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a large group of extremely loud men. We couldn't hear a conversation between ourselves because of the noise level caused by them, and the language became vulgar and intolerable. We politely complained and while wait staff seemed sympathetic, they nor manager did anything to remedy the situation, and no offer to move us was made. We eventually left table ourselves (with verbal insults from the aforementioned table - and zero intervention from the restaurant staff) and requested another, which we received. Thereafter service noticeably declined. When we inquired about the behavior of the lude customers the waiter stated it happened all the time. We asked what was done about it - blank smile. Food was nothing spectacular, but to be fair good. Checks came (very incorrectly for our simple split check between three couples - our waiter worked with pen and paper, no point-of-sale tech - not that that is necessary, but please get it right whatever system you choose to use) with zero compensation for the terrible dining experience. Asked manager why we didn't receive at least some reduction and she simply said if we received our food, we should pay full price. While leaving we overheard manager complaining loudly that we were a problematic group of customers - for simply requesting a nice meal in a reasonable atmosphere? Terrible experience overall. Bottom line - likelihood of bad dining experience largely outweighs potential for a good meal. Go elsewhere friends. My two cents.
Be the first to ReplyVery inviting, excellent food and wonderful service!
We have been here several times over the years as we live on the west coast but visit family in the area. This has been a favorite of ours since we first dined here. We were very excited to visit Luca again and the restaurant did not disappoint. The wine list is very deep although many of wines I am not familiar with and I know my Italian wines pretty well. We were expecting to order a Tignanello based on the wine list posted on Open Table. However when we reviewed the wine list the price was $230 vs. the $168 shown on Open table. We opted instead for a Zenato Ripasso Valpolicella which was really good. The bread here is off the charts and comes from a bakery in the Westside Market. For starters we had carpaccio and a sacchetti pasta. Both were excellent. my wife ordered a special which consisted of saffron risotto and twin 8 ounce lobster tails. Fantastic! I ordered the Veal Milanese which I thoroughly enjoyed. Service was very friendly and professional. Love the ambiance. highly recommend!

What a breathtakingly, unscrupulous restaurant !!!!! It is now almost May and I still have not had any resolution to them charging our credit card for more than the amount agreed to by us. Yes, it was only $6.00 but that's not the point. No restaurant should change more than the amount submitted to your credit card and authorized by the customer, and then have the audacity to refuse to do anything to correct it. I started calling them in November when I saw the discrepancy on our American Express statement. I left several message on their designated billing prompt with no reply, so I called their other property Aqua Di Luca, where we had a nice meal. They answered the phone, unlike this place and gave me an email address, which came back blocked. I finally reached a manager Scott at this restaurant after several calls. I old him of the error and gave him all the info on my receipt. I offered to email it to him, but he said no need he would correct it, this was 12/2/22. He also gave me the managers email Margaret.Gilgallon@lucawest.com I emailed her several times with no response. I found a name on our American Express statement listed with the charge, Kelly Gatchell. I emailed her and it came back blocked. Ms. Gilgallon's never came back so I assume she got them, but she didn't care to do anything about it. I could report them to American Express, but figured they are not worth anymore of my efforts or time. Our food was good, bartender Liz especially. It is somewhat cramped and dark, but we enjoyed the food. What I DO NOT enjoy is a restaurant that has no regard for their customers. They don't deserve my business or yours!! My rating is terrible because that is how they treated me regarding this easily fixable matter.
Be the first to ReplyWe found it to be average
Our selections: Strawberry Pancetta salad, raspberry bib salad, mussels, Saltimbocca Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but the food was all ordinary, yet the setting and prices were far from ordinary. Fancy place, very busy on a Monday night. Located in a unique position, on an old abandoned bridge (half demolished). Walk to the end, interesting view. Staff was nice, setting was pleasant and comfortable. We sat outside on the patio. We were just underwhelmed by the food. Portions were a good size, by the way.

If you love Italian food this is for you. Never disappointed with the food or service. My husband ordered the Osso Buco which he said it was wonderful. I had the lobster ravioliโฆ. amazing ! The bread and dip , sensational This was our 3rd visit from out of town and happy to report food and service was consistently good. You wonโt be disappointed!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic service and great food
We loved the food at Luca. The sacchetti pasta was AMAZING. We ordered the full entree size to split as our appetizer between four of us, and we all agreed that it was our favorite bite of the night. All of our entrees were very flavorful. The wild boar osso bucco was hearty, and the scallops special was tasty. I loved the veal cannelloni. The creamy sauce was so rich and decadent. I will definitely return to Luca, but I will request a table in the main room. We were in the glass enclosure area, and the chairs were hard and downright UNCOMFORTABLE. It was a bit disappointing to see people in chairs that looked much more comfortable 20 feet away. It kind of felt like we were demoted to the room of less important people.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, nice atmosphere
Nice atmosphere. Food is good and portions are big. Also service was very friendly so would definitely recommend this when you visit Cleveland.
Be the first to ReplyAs good as what I had in Italy
Ate here about a week after returning from two weeks in Italy. The pasta with wild boar ragu that I ordered was the equal of anything I had in Italy. Beet salad with pistachios was also delicious. Lovely view of the main avenue bridge and downtown as a bonus.

First time here. I had the Scallops special - outstanding! My wife had a pasta dish, very good. Making a reservation was easy, service was super (our server was George I believe). Will absolutely return!!!
Be the first to ReplyHorrible Atmosphere !!
The food was great. Service was great. The atmosphere was marketed as " smart casual" and it seemed like a nice upscale place for a couple to dine. It was NOT ! Six people were seated next to us and all were dressed inappropriately for such dining. Open sided tee shirts for men, two piece workout clothing on the women. But the worst part was the very loud, profanity riddled language going on which made us and other customers uncomfortable. Staff and management did nothing to manage this issue which should have been done at the door. I doubt we return.
Be the first to ReplyFather's Day 2021 surprise for my husband
We had a delectable dining experience - great food, drink and pretty good service, UNTIL we received our check. Sadly, for a lovely evening, it went downhill from here. There were errors on our bill, which disappeared for about 30 min. among different wait staff - we got another bill which also was wrong, and finally, after 45 min, we got our corrected bill. It just shouldn't be this hard, after a beautiful relaxing evening. They weren't even that busy? What the heck?
Be the first to ReplyBest service ever in a Cleveland restaurant! A+++
We had dinner here and our waiter was George who was outstanding at his job. Friendly and accommodating and he was most attentive without hovering. The jumbo shrimp appetizer was excellent. They have an interesting bread that is served as a hot loaf for the table -- maybe it has sour dough mixed with Italian in it. The salads I would skip. Main courses we had were specials that evening and they were superb -- grouper for one and the other one scallops. Also got desserts of mousse & tiramisu -- the tiramisu was the better one. But really it was the service that made this meal such a stand out. There were 3 of us and we wanted to split things like the 2 entrees and 2 salads. It was no problem at all. We definitely felt we got our money's worth.
