Nice (if not bland) dining room.
We were early on a Friday night which was also st Patrick's day so there weren't many customers when we arrived. Service was friendly and attentive. Appetizers were ordered for the table. A spicy calamari dish was delicious with just the right amount of spice and very tender. Baked clams were very good (if a little on the small side), crab meat cocktail was good. I had parpedel Al champagne. The pasta stirred with 2 small lobster tails, some shrimp and scallops over a pink cream sauce. Good not great. My wife went off menu to ask for grilled shrimp over pasta with marinara sauce. Her request was granted graciously and was also good. A nice drink menu was offered and my old fashion was very good. The place is definitely worth a try.

Many thanks to Maria and the entire staff at Luce for exceeding our expectations. The food was plentiful and delicious, the room was elegant and comfortable, and the staff was excellent! Luce was the perfect choice for our mom's surprise 80th birthday. We will be back for dinner, and possibly another event!
Be the first to ReplyI came here tonight for dinner.
Despite having reservations until 8pm, we weren't seated until close to 9. Understood because it seemed really busy. Everything was fine until we got our table and waiter. He did not welcome us or even mentioned his name until I asked him which was "Nino". As I work in the restaurant business, I can attest that this is inappropriate. I had to gain his attention just to get another drink because he was being so unfocused. When our meal was served, it was disgustingly cold. He never stopped over to see how things were doing or if we needed anything. I've been here previously, and the service I got tonight left me quite disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyHigh score for food, service and ambiance.
The food is well crafted and the service is over the moon.Check their menu and you will notice that it's Italian inspired but with a bit of a twist to more contemporary. The chef here is really able to pull it off. Try this place for a late afternoon or early dinner so you can have the staff's attention. Later on it becomes a bit clubby. This place is a must try.

I had made reservations for Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. We had reservations for 7:30pm they had told us to wait at the bar until our table was ready. We waited by the bar for over an hour until someone got us for our table. When we were sat the server was nice and got us our drinks quickly. We were waiting over an hour for an appetizer on the pre fixed menu to hit the table. We had left because it was now 9:30 and we had not eaten anything. This was terrible service and planning for a restaurant as a whole. I read all good reviews about this restaurant, which was why I decided to make the reservation here for Valentine's Day. It was absolutely a terrible experience.

Excellent food and service! My husband had the pork chop and I had the duck. I'd highly recommend this place!

This is now my second time eating at Luce and I have to say, I will keep coming back. The staff is incredibly attentive, the quality of every dish was excellent. The staff took the time to recommend dishes and listen to what you like/dislike, as well as if you have any food allergies. I for one have many food allergies and intolerances, the waiter wrote them down and have the chef crafted up an amazing dish for me. I couldn't be more appreciative since eating out can be difficult with so many dietary restrictions. I loved seeing the management and owners walking around asking tables how everything was. One of my favorite things was the fact that they don't rush you. You get to pace your meal out and enjoy the ambience. We started with an aperol spritz and a fabritz spritz (which was made with limoncello). For appetizers we had the salumi assortiti & truffle ricotta. Entrees- they accommodated my food allergies and made me a custom salmon dish with steamed spinach and potatoes, with a mustard sauce on the side. My partner got a chilean sea bass from their special. We ended it with 2 decadent desserts, a key lime pie and "mousse cake of steroids" (as our waiter described it haha). Would definitely recommend this restaurant not only for their upscale atmosphere and service but for their quality of food.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and great service.
The fried calamari was so so good and my husband can't stop raving about the lamb chops.

Ambiance was great so i decided to sit down wasn't sure what to order so the waitress recommended the pork chop and a side dish of grilled octopus ! Well it was the best dish I've had in a long time. The octopus was fresh and the pork chop was cooked perfectly ! I would highly recommend it and I cannot wait to come back to try more dishes
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I were so excited to try Luce today.
Our dog gets groomed nearby so we decided it was the perfect way to spend our time waiting. I checked online to see that the restaurant opened at noon. We showed up at 12:15. The restaurant was gorgeous. We were greeted by a staff member who seemed surprised we were there. We were seated and waited. No menus... no water. At 12:30 the same staff member came over and told us there were no staff there because they do not open until 1. I said I checked online and it said they were open. He told me to check the sign on the door and walked away. My husband and I left baffled. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I checked the sign in the elevator going up to the restaurant and then the door. Both signs stated that they were open Sundays from 12-9. As a courtesy I called the restaurant just to let them know that their signage does say they are open at noon (not 1) and that they should probably change it so that other patrons don't make the same mistake. I received a curt "thanks for letting us know"... and then they hung up. My husband and I never experienced something like this before. They could have at least given a voucher for a drink or appetizer to bring our business back. I have never left a bad review of any restaurant because I know it's a tough business... but this was just bad business. We will not be giving them our business in the future.

My husband and I wanted a Saturday night quiet relaxing dinner and oh what a surprise we had. Heard nice things about Luce...so we went. What a disappointment. The waiter did not tell us the specials. Ordered a cocktail....best part of the meal. Dinner came out before we finished cocktails....then a party of 10 came in...5 kids under 10...2 babies in high chairs, not nice and quiet, and a 3 ish little boy running around the table. Two older little girls fine. Oh did I mention the private party at the bar with a dj blasting music so we felt like we were at the party? Husbands dinner good,...mine, bland and pasta stuck together....ugh. Will not be going back there.

Expected south shore douchey and pretentiousness but was completely wrong. Staff was excellent and there's a ton of attention to detail that went with the decor. Food was excellent and service was fantastic. Cowboy steak cooked excellent , highly recommend the polpo [octupus] - squid ink spaghetti was a little bland as was the truffle potatoes , overall it's a great restaurant and the staff is super friendly and well trained. I hope the business does really well
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for both dining and hosting a private party.
...Private PartyFirstly, Maria and Joe are top notch with accommodating parties at their restaurant. It was an easy choice when deciding where to have our sons christening. They essentially close down the restaurant for you and your guests, which gives it that unique personal and private touch that you really can't anywhere else. The food and drinks are so good! They offered three "pre-set menus" but were able to customize and tweak to our specifications. Everyone raved about the food and drinks which really is what you are after when hosting a party. The ambiance is just so pretty and neutral. It was easy to add decor and make anything work. Dining; My favs:Fantastic Apps: Polenta, Octopus, and Calamari Entrees: Short Rib Dessert: Pistachio Cheesecake

Hosted a large group there for dinner (16 people) on a Saturday afternoon. Food was delicious. Our waiter, Adam, was fantastic. His recommendations were spot on. Get the double pork chop (it was awesome). Also had the sweet/sour fried calamari and the baked clams (all very good). Service was great. Owner came over several times to see how we were all doing. Drinks were delicious (my 3 Tanqueray martinis went down smooth...). Will definitely be eating here again.

Luce is exactly what Staten Island Needs! Fine dining at its greatest.I will say though its a very odd layout and location in a sort of strip mall on the 3rd floor. After walking in nothing really lints to the fact that you have to take an elevator up with no real signage. Once upstairs you'll be greeted by a friendly host who'll take you down a few hallways that'll end in a nice dining room and balcony that has pretty good views. The food though is what makes this place special and unlike most of the Italian restaurants on the island. Simply put it comes down the ingredients and the creativity of their dishes. Theres no doubt in my mind that the quality of the ingredients used here is top notch and the dishes served here I really haven't seen locally. I came for a party and was able to taste quite a few dishes. We started of with appetizers that included fried calamari, baked clams, bruschetta, focaccia, a meat and cheese board, and crostini with honey ricotta. All of the appetizers were delicious and I would recommend them all.I also went with the pasta buterra which tasted similar to a vodka sauce but with crumbled sausage which tasted good. For my entre I went ahead with the involtine di pollo which was chicken stuffed with cacio di cavallo cheese, spinach, roasted peppers, prosciutto, and served in a marsala wine sauce. This was the best stuffed chicken dish I've had a long time. It was tender and packed with flavor. My meal was perfect. 10/10.EAT HERE!
Be the first to ReplyCame here on an early Friday evening for dinner.
Heard great things about spot from Google reviews so gave it a shot. Fantastic experience - everything was top notch. Delicious food (truffle honey ricotta a must, stuffed filet, pork chop, etc.). Extremely attentive service, kind owner even bought us a round of drinks which was much appreciated. Intimate decor even did wonders. Worth every bit of consideration, solid new spot in south shore.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I came here for dinner last Saturday evening
My husband and I came here for dinner last Saturday evening at 7pm with our 14 month old. When we were seated, there were only 2-3 other parties in the restaurant. As soon as we sat down, we felt rushed to leave. Our waiter, an older gentleman with glasses maybe 60's, came over and asked to take our drink order. My husband and I asked for a wine list. He started rattling off wines... We again asked for a wine list to see And told him we wanted to just take a look and see what was available. After we ordered our drinks, the waiter Came back to take our food order. We ordered appetizers and told the waiter we did not decide on our main course yet and to please give us a few more minutes. His response was "You should really order it now because we might get busy, then your food will take a long time." Okay????? My husband and I both work full time and came out for a nice relaxing evening on the weekend, we felt so rushed with everything here my husband actually asked me if I wanted to leave without having dinner because we both felt so rushed with this waiter. It was like we were annoying him by being there. But it's hard to go out with the baby and pack everything etc so we were already here, we figured we would just stay and not leave at this point. The waiter stood by our table and about a minute later asked if we were ready To order our main course lol My husband and I just picked something off the menu. At first we honestly thought we were being rushed because we brought our baby to dinner.. mind you, our son is an extremely well behaved baby and just sat in his high chair eating cheerios the whole time during dinner.... When the time came for dessert, we asked for a dessert menu... again we wanted to look over the menu, relax, pick something nice out. The waiter just started naming desserts when we asked for a dessert menu... SO AGAIN we asked for a menu. The waiter named a few more desserts and we just picked one. Food was okay, overall experience was a thumbs down because of the waiter..again, my husband and I came out to have a nice relaxing dinner. Not feel rushed out of a restaurant the moment we sat down. About $250 for dinner for 2 (including tip), there are plenty other restaurants to patronize on the island where the service is better and hopefully you won't feel rushed. We went to Villa Paradiso the week before Luce and the service was so great, everyone was so nice. The owner came over and was talking to us and wiping our baby's mouth with a napkin lol it was just such a friendly, family atmosphere there. We were so excited to try Luce. Not what we expected. We won't be returning.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely wonderful dining experience like no other on
Absolutely wonderful dining experience like no other on Staten Island! The service, especially provided by server Al is second to none! Maria, the owner, is beyond friendly and hands on. Such a professional! The ambiance and overall vibe at Luce is one that is not typcially found on Staten Island. Such a wonderful option to have. The food is delicious and the overall service and entire dining experience is fabulous. We definitely need this on Staten Island. Wishing you many years of success!!
Be the first to ReplyWas there last night March 19.
We were a party of 6. The food was great, 3 of us had steak. Two had Filet Migon and I had the New York Strip. All cooked to perfection and were delicious. My wife and two other ladies all loved their dishes. I wanted to pick up the tab so I went to the hostess so no one would see me talking to the waiter. She was so nice and sweet and took care of everything for me. There was a little problem with the gift card that my wife received as a gift and it had a zero balance on it. Have no idea how that happened, but they did the right thing and gave me another gift card for the same amount for my next visit. I was very impressed how they took care of it. They really know how to treat their customers and everyone from the hostess, waiters and maitre d were professional and very nice. Our waiter was Raymond who was a hoot and the manager or maitre d who presented me with a new gift card was awesome. The ambiance is stunning. My new favorite place.. Thank you all for the kind service and taking care of my gift card issue and of course the amazing food!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible experience.
The vibe of the place was crap, i expected something more up beat. The appetizers were all terrible and then they rushed our main course. If my wife didn't complain. They wound have had us out in less then 1 hour. The drink were blaaaa as well. This was my first and last time ever dinning there here.

Food was good - accidentally went on Ladies Night so it was packed and loud. There was a woman walking back and forth to her table with a chihuahua? also, they had melon and prosciutto on the specials with sweet Gorgonzola but there was not Gorgonzola and the melon wasn't ripe. Other than that, the food was excellent and the staff was attentive.
Be the first to ReplyI went there with my family for my birthday.
Staff was so nice and the food was amazing. I'll definitely be back again!
Be the first to ReplyCompletely unimpressed with the service.
This is a spot that turns over restaurants quite often. It was Buddha which was great then Mr Ciao now Luce. It's beautiful inside but the waiter I had left little to be desired. We had an older gentleman of Albanian decent. Not that it matters. I am Italian and he continuously didn't believe I was Italian after asking me. He spoke Italian but I understand it well. He was calling me Russian to my friend. None of that matters, but if I'm dining out in a so called nice spot, why ruin the ambiance by assuming we are young women? It was my birthday and his banter and pushiness to up sell the entire menu annoyed me. As a side note, we saw through his shit. 2 of my friends split dinner. No split charge. Food was decent. This was the first week of December. I enjoyed the appetizers but my entree was average at best. (Risotto) If the service matched the food I would go back. I am also mindful it is hard to find good staff mid pandemic. So I wish them well. I may try it again but just know they have pushy waiters that try to upsell you on everything -and ours was a little over the top personality wise. Hopefully he Can vibe with other patrons but he truly annoyed me.
