Love it!
Love the location, the food was outstanding best we had in LA. Steak was to die for and so were fries.

I was fortunate enough to spend two nights in Montecito recently, and tried the two "hottest" places in town, one being Lucky's. Old school ambience with dark walls covered with photos of patrons and celebs. Somewhat rickety cheap stools - surprising for such a high-end place. I got the crab cocktail, mac and cheese, and a 10oz ny strip plus two glasses of wine. A complete meal for sure, but the $200 bill with tax and tip shocked me despite seeing the prices on the menu ($95 for a Filet and $28 for a burger). Scene was more LA than SB, with red-soled stilettos in abundance. Patio was packed, but it amounted to a plastic house on blacktop... with cheesy propane heaters. Certainly they could do better at $200 a head?

The service was excellent from very knowledgable staff who gave us great recommendations. The food was delicious. We got to sit outside and enjoyed watching the locals and visitors going by.

Eat here! Great menu, cocktails and food. Very dog friendly on the outdoor patio. Service was exceptional. We walked from our hotel. Great location. The village is so quant and way better than the village on State Street in downtown. Eat at Lucy's!

Someone has to say it.
Are you people nuts? Just because everyone says this place is good, do you all believe them? Let’s start with the good. The service is very attentive. But they hit us with a 20% non-negotiable service charge. Oh OK.
The steaks and such are so profoundly and crazily overpriced, you almost have to laugh out loud. You want French fries with that, $15. You want asparagus with that, $15. You want creamed spinach with that, $15. You want Caesar salad with that, $15. You want a bottle of wine under $100? Haahaahaahaaaaa.
Food is fine, but literally nothing to write home about even at a third the price. So many places in SB, you can get a steak as good or better, for SO much less.
Look at my hundreds of reviews from around the world. I have dined at many Michelin star restaurants and some of the top 10 … in the world! I am not bragging, but I do know a little of what I am talking about.
If your goal is to spend a lot of money, you need to go to Lucky’s. But there are dozens of fabulous restaurants around SB where you can have spectacular cuisine, superb service, and not feel like an idiot.
Lovely patio, one very good vegan dish, spotty service (2 Green Stars)
We got a table on the patio outside Lucky’s but it took quite a long time to get served and there were further delays later (and discrepancies in service, compared to our evidently more important neighbors). The guy who brought the food seemed angry about something the way he barked out the dish names, asking which dish was for whom (he should have known that anyway). Our main server was friendly though, which made up for his tardiness :-)
The veggie burger was good, although the blue cheese was a little too salty. I had high expectations for Herbie’s potato skins (as I love potato skins) but they were a bit disappointing. However, the Japanese sautéed tofu dish was very good and this helped elevate the experience to memorable.
Chef Leonard Schwartz describes the dish as follows: “Composed of fresh baby spinach sautéed lightly in extra virgin olive oil and topped with slices of firm marinated tofu and wok-cooked shitake mushrooms and green onions, surrounded in a Japanese vinaigrette flavored with sesame oil, ginger, garlic, brown sugar, and lime juice.”
We had a guest request a vegan dish about a year and a half ago, and that’s when I put together the tofu dish,” he said. Well, I’m glad you had one guest who cares about the planet! (And props to the chef too.)
I’m giving Lucky’s only 2 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these simple reasons:
• Lucky’s menu is meat-focused. It would be great if Lucky’s made a stand and adapted its menu a little to help out with our climate crisis, not to mention mitigating deforestation and putting an end animal cruelty and the insidious negative impact that the meat industry has on society. You did a great job with the tofu and spinach dish, so keep going!
• No information is provided on food sourcing. Where does it come from? Are the eggs pasture-raised? Is the tofu organic? Communication of these things actually matter, even for something vegan like tofu, which ranges from industrially-farmed GM soy that’s sprayed with bee-killing neonics to one of the most sustainable products on the planet.
Yummy!
My husband and I dropped in to Lucky's and were able to get a table in the bar. It was delicious and the vibe was great. The staff were super friendly as well and the service was great!
Be the first to ReplyBest in Montecito
Hands down Lucky’s is my favorite restaurant in Montecito. Service is top notch, the food is consistently fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is old world charm. My favorite is the Rumanian steak. It’s really flavorful and tender. I also enjoyed the prime rib. Try the wedge salad. The dressings are homemade.

We all enjoyed our meals. Have been eating here for years and they do an outstanding job. Located in the village and easy to get to. Valet Parking is available. Reservations suggested.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Lunch Spot!
I had lunch here with 2 friends after shopping along the Coast Village Road. It's not very large, but it has great ambiance! One friend had the Matzo Ball Soup, and another friend had the Shrimp Louie salad. I ordered the grilled artichoke with beurre blanc sauce. All 3 dishes were amazing!
Be the first to ReplyEXCELLENT Food & Service!! Class Act!
We had an amazing dinner at Lucky's! I cannot recommend it highly enough. We would defintely return if ever back in the area. We are on vacation, and it was highly recommended by a friend. SO glad we took the recommendation. The food was superb, our server outstanding - efficient, friendly & capable. Everything was timed perfectly - not rushed. It's always hugely disappointing when you go out to dinner, and especailly at a restaurant of this stature and they rush you through the meal - not the case here. The martinis are amazing!!, and I am a harsh critic where those are concerned. Also, the ambiance was very warm & inviting. We sat inside, next to the beautiful fireplace. Everything was just perfect. Another wonderful memory to add to our travels.
Be the first to ReplyWorst meal ever!
Meatballs were cold in ice cold sauce.
Filet was also cold with cold onion rings. Meat was tasteless and chewy. Manager touched the food to see if I was telling the truth. Total jerk.
Horrible service. Never again. Told the Miramar hotel to stay away. They agreed with me.
Pricey, but a great evening!
It’s pricey here but quite good. Great drink menu, delicious food. Had a great waiter who made our dinner experience that much more enjoyable. My entree of sole meunière was good, but for the price I would order something different if dining there again. Lots of options on the menu to choose from.
