I happened upon Lukshon during dineLA--we took advantage of the whole fried fish entree selection, easily the best value on the dineLA menu. Also ordered multiple other items and felt that most of the dishes leaned towards acid either with vinegar or lemon. The most disappointing was the salad as it was just too tart to enjoy. The most enjoyable was the pork belly. It was gone before we knew it.The dessert was the nicest surprise although it is quite costly for such small bites.(Just finished post from 2019)

I had a great time here. Lots of interesting and unique dishes. Chic and modern interior. Great food presentation. Dishes were flavorful. Sat at the chef counter and it was fun to see all the kitchen actions.
Be the first to ReplyThis is hands down the best restaurant in Culver City.
Tea leaf salad, whole fish, dumplings, crab fried rice. It's a bit expensive but the food and service is bomb. Not sure what they're doing during covid but I've been craving Lukshon since they closed :( would love it if they had a pick up service or even outdoor dining.

Exciting, bright, modern Asian cooking from the Father's Office chef. Highlights: tea leaf salad, lobster roll "bánh mì", Chinese eggplant, Hawaiian butterfish, & Sichuan dumplings

It has been a while since I visited Lukshon, if I recall correctly they changed most of their dishes. It is not quite as good as I remembered, but still a fairly solid restaurant that is worthy of a visit. We got the Santa Barbara spot prawns, banana leaf black cod, pork belly, beef and broccoli, creamy spinach, and the crab fried rice. We also got the ovaltine dessert.I was mildly disappointed by the prawns because of the texture, it felt a bit overcooked. The black cod was great though not as good as the black cod at matsuhisa's. Pork belly was excellent. Beef and broccoli was great. I liked the creamy spinach and crab fried rice too, but I've had better versions of both elsewhere. Loved the ovaltine dessert.清倉令郎聽湯
Be the first to ReplyI didn't love the food.
Service, atmosphere, and drinks were top notch. Dumplings, Brussels sprouts, and pork belly were good but everything else wasn't great in my opinion. We tried most of the menu. For the price, I'd recommend another similar restaurant in the area. Great spot for drinks though. The staff was fantastic.

I've been to Lukson a handful of times and I want to say that each and every time has been consistently great! The cuisine is Asian fusion (Thai/Vietnamese) and celebrates and highlights all that is delicious in both those cuisines. My recommendations are the following:1) Hawaiian Butterfish: melt in your mouth butter. I cannot even describe to you how heavenly this tastes. Just do yourself a favor a order it!2) Tea Leaf Salad: This is a traditional Burmese salad has a kick to it and highly advised to order as a starter. It really warms you up to the many flavorful dishes to come.3) Sichuan dumplings: OMG eat this stat. Don't wear a white shirt like I did though because of the spicy oil that splatters.4) Heirloom Black Rice & Crab Fried Rice: If you're watching your carb intake this may not be for you but if you're like YOLO, do get both because it will make your night. The black rice contains Chinese sausage that is so reminiscent from my Canto childhood.5) Crispy Whole Fish: It is impressive to set in the middle of the table. This is great to share!6) Beef and Broccoli: I like beef and I like broccoli so that's why I love this dish. You won't want skip out on this family favorite. Pando got nothin' on this!I love the Helms Bakery area in Culver so this is a perfect spot to take dates, your family, have celebrations at with your friends and loved ones.
Be the first to ReplyAsian fusion with a sleek and modernistic feel.
We sat inside but the outside dining area was spacious with ample heaters to warm the night. We used the varied beer selections and Japanese whiskey to warm our hearts. The heirloom black rice with the fried egg on top was highlighted by Chinese sausages..I won't attempt the name! I consider myself fairly skilled with chop sticks but ask for a spoon!A varied vegetarian selection with the eggplant and cold sesame noodles - OutstandingThe butterfish ceviche was a delicate light dish with a sauce that brought the fish to a higher plane of enjoymentNo ketchup for you Fathers Office haters

the food is great, but they don't do any substitutions even for allergies. plus they make you wait even if you have a reservation. lastly, they have the smallest selection of food (and they do run out of stuff on the menu).
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for dinner without a reservation on a Thursday
We came here for dinner without a reservation on a Thursday night. The restaurant was pretty empty so we were able to get seats right away, but the host gave us a strange "we didn't have any seats but one table just opened up" response. Haha ok, I guess we couldn't sit at any of the empty tables we saw. We ordered: the Hawaiian butterfish, tea leaf salad, banana leaf black cod, and the 8 oz New York stripThe Hawaiian butterfish - yum. The butterfish is tender and the coconut snow is so interesting. It also has small blocks of coconut puddin, which somehow goes pretty well with the butterfish. The tea leaf salad is the side to get for your other entrees, but warning: it might be better than your entrees and make the rest of your meal seem meh. It's crispy, crunchy because of the soy beans and sunflower seeds, it's somewhat refreshing, it's good. This next part is where it goes downhill. The banana leaf black cod seemed undercooked and I wasn't sure how the banana was supposed to complement the dish. I think if the fish was cooked better and the other items on the dish were something else, like a vegetable, this dish could be much better. And lastly the New York strip - the meat itself was great, cooked a perfect medium rare. But the sauces on top took away from it. Like putting A1 sauce on wagyu that you should just have with some salt. The sauce is all you could really taste. We would've liked this a whole lot more if it came out like a typical New York strip you get at a steakhouse.Lukshon has a great ambiance and a few items that are really great. I just don't know that I want to keep trying their mediocre items to find what their amazing items are.
