The delicacy of cooking and the control of the heat are very good.Braised Oxtail with Gnocco Alla RomanaWhen you carefully taste the meat quality of each part of the oxtail, you can taste the guarantee of fresh meat quality, which is very good. highly recommended! ! ! !

NYC has a plethora of Italian restaurants and this place is definitely a solid. It's cozy and warm, with an even steady flow of diners. Our server was attentive and made really good recommendations. I forgot to take a snapshot of my food until the dessert. Food was absolutely delightful - we ordered the meatballs, kale salad, and various pasta dishes. There was not one bad dish. Would come back again.
Be the first to ReplyCame for my birthday awhile back with my family.
Service was solid and attentive and it was nice they gave us new silverware for our entrees. We ordered almost all the pastas to really try everything from the pappardelle, strozzapreti, linguine clams, cacio e pepe, and pomodoro. They were all very good but not anything mindblowing compared to other spots in NYC. It's definitely a good spot but there was something missing that would have really put it over the edge. Either way, had a great time

Had some dinner here it was really packed but i had outdoor reservations. It's warm in the outdoor shed. My waitress was super kind with recommendations and accommodating with my entrees. The entree I wanted to order had dairy in it which i could not have the waitress told me i could get the bolognese pasta instead. Ordered the potatoes as starter. The bolognese pasta was really good actually not overwhelming. My friend ordered the salmon with broccoli but they didn't want the broccoli. When we received the dish it was jus a salmon on a plate with nothing else. I mean understandable because they delivered what we asked for. The service and vibes were amazing though!
Be the first to ReplyUsed to like this spot but not sure what happened.
Got a plate of pasta & a side of broccoli and walked out with a $50 bill, cold soggy broccoli and pasta that lacked flavor and had a pile of water left in the bottom afterward . Go a few blocks over and get pasta somewhere else.

I really wanted to like Lupa but overall for the food was okay. At this price point I was expected to be blown away and I simply wasn't. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff were professional. I was surprised to be charged for tap water, I felt that the waiter should have mentioned it wasn't free. I ordered: Prosciutto with mozzarella- this was good but nothing they actually cookedRicotta & pork meatballs- these were okay, nothing to write home aboutBrussels spouts- tasty Oxtail with gnocco- first time I've had oxtail shredded and with raisins, it was flavorful but weird composition Branzino- really good Crispy duck- skin wasn't crispy and it tasted gamey (first time I had duck that tasted gamey). Also, the fat under the skin wasn't cooked enough so overall I don't recommend this dish.Overall, I don't recommend this place

If you aren't a fan of exceptional food and outstanding service - then Lupa's probably not for you.But if you are - you are in for a TREAT! Lupa is a beautiful restaurant, but the experience doesn't stop at aesthetics. The staff is so kind and welcoming, that you walk into a comfortable setting that you don't often find in New York restaurants. The food is so yummy and flavorful from the pillowy gooey goodness of the Arancini, to the crispy skin of the duck on top of a delicious peperonata. We ordered sides including the perfectly roasted brussel sprouts and the roasted potatoes with a sweet and tangy aioli. My favorite part of any meal is always dessert! My favorites were the olive oil cake (perfectly sponges deliciousness), the tiramisu (that tasted like yummy espresso dusted creamy clouds), and the decadent tartufo. We ate before the camera could capture everything because it was so damn good!
Be the first to ReplyGood food, they make best pasta in New York City.
Similar taste like in Italy. Authentic Italian food

I recently dined at Lupa in New York and unfortunately, my experience was less than impressive. While the atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, the quality of the dishes left a lot to be desired. For starters, I ordered the Roasted Beets with Pistachio Pesto and Whipped Ricotta. While the dish was decent, I found that it was missing a citrusy flavor that could have really elevated the dish. It wasn't bad, but it didn't quite hit the mark.Next up was the Charred Octopus with Caperberry and Nostralina Olives. As someone who loves grilled octopus, I was excited to try this dish. Unfortunately, the octopus was soggy and lacked the delicious grilled flavor that I was expecting. It was not enjoyable to eat, and I found myself struggling to finish it.Moving on to the Tagliatelle with Black Truffle and Grana Padano, which was supposed to be the star of the show. However, I was again let down by the dish. While the pasta was cooked al dente, the flavor was completely bland. It tasted like a buttered pasta with truffle, but without any salt, cheese, or pepper to give it depth. I was expecting a lot more from this dish, but unfortunately, it did not deliver. Finally, I tried the Lupa Tartufo dessert, which was also disappointing.Overall, I would not recommend Lupa based on my experience. While the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service was fine, the lackluster quality of the dishes made it an underwhelming dining experience. I was disappointed by the Charred Octopus, Tagliatelle, and Lupa Tartufo.

We arrived a few minutes before our 9pm reservation and the place was packed. We were seated at about 910 and it took about 10 minutes for someone to come and as what kind of water we wanted and then another few minutes to ask if we wanted drinks. I was very unhappy with the service. I asked our waiter for some recommendations and I while I knew what the dishes consisted of, he was very snide and aloof when giving me suggestions. With desert as well. We had to ask for our water to be refilled and not once, did anyone come over and ask how our food was. Our waiter had a trainee with him, and she was wonderful, but again, no one asked how our food was. We were asked if we wanted to see the wine list, I asked for a specific wine, they did not have, but brought me something similar to taste. I said I liked it and would have a glass after I finished my cocktail. That was the last I saw of the sommelier.I will say, the food was delicious except for the fact that my partner order the steak and got mostly a plate of broccoli rabe with 4 potatoes, which was very disappointing I will probably not go back
Be the first to ReplyPerfecto al dente homemade pastas .
.. penne w/short rib raghu, fresh spinach salad unique twist w/speck and fried soft cheese cubes. Delightful. Generous pour on the Prosecco! Friendly informed staff.
Be the first to ReplyLupa was really good in the summer the first time I tried
Lupa was really good in the summer the first time I tried it so I raves about this spot to my friends. We made reservations for 6 on a Sunday at 5:30pm. Lupa was already packed by then! We got seated all the way in the back and our sommelier was so helpful with us ordering a bottle of wine. We didn't hear any specials of the night from our waiter so we just ordered a bunch of things off the menu. We ordered 5 appetizers, 6 pastas, and 3 sides! I'm sad to say that our sides were the highlight of the night. We started with parm and added the Buffalo mozzarella. This was good but how can you really mess this up? The lobster burrata was one of the weirdest thing we had for the night, it was very fishy with a tiny little piece of lobster. The sauce was just really off and we didn't know what was wrong with it? The Arancini was okay, the green sauce under tasted very earthy was we weren't a fan of it. The crispy Brussels sprouts were the best appetizer. Our carbonara pastas were on the saltier side, the gnocchi was underwhelming and wasn't really something we wanted to finish, and short ribs ragu was alright. The sides: broccoli rabe, potatoes, and mushrooms were well seasoned, crispy, and flavorful. I think if you wanted to try something here, I would say order the sides, the carbonara, and parm with Buffalo mozzarella. I hope they adjust their salt levels and taste before sending it out, too.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has such a great reputation, I felt fortunate
This place has such a great reputation, I felt fortunate to get a last minute reservation. The service was very good, we dined outside, which was nice, but a very loud group next to us.(not the restaurants fault) but the food... We had the bolognese, it was heavy for our liking, and not a lot of depth to the flavor. The chicken dish we ordered, was cooked perfectly with a crisp skin and moist as could be inside, but again not a tremendous amount of flavor.Brussle sprouts, were ok. Topped with some pomegranate, which seemed like an afterthought.Overall, there is so many great Italian restaurants in NYC, you really have to stand out in flavor to make an impression, and this meal did not do that for us. Too much hype, without substance.
Be the first to ReplyLupa was a highlight of my trip to NY.
The food was amazing, priced well, and of high quality. But more importantly, the staff made my visit incredible. The waiter was friendly and we were able to talk to the chef from Italy. The desert at the end was very special: tiramisu in a bialetti espresso machine.
Be the first to ReplyWhere do I begin.
The wait staff was excellent. Attentive. The wine list is excellent. I've been here numerous times and always satisfied. However, the saltimbocca was a grease ball. Awful. The crispy duck!!!! OmG! One of the worst dishes I've ever been presented. Duck skin should be crispy. This was a wet gelatinous mess. Disgusting. The confit itself? No flavor. Over cooked. Dry. I returned my dish. One of my guests fed her dish to her dog. Not sure if the dog turned it down. The wait. 9pm reservations. Show up on time. And you wait 1 hr. The crowd? Not what I'm accustomed to. Will never return.

This chicken dish is mind blowing! So juicy and the skin was just perfect, everyone at I went out with was envious my my choice. The staff was amazing and kind and helped us through the menu. My drink had to much ice in it. I will definitely come back to try more of there dishes.
Be the first to ReplyTo be quite honest, Alio Olio was nothing good.
Just tasted oil only...Too much out of my high expectations...

Great customer service :5/5Ambience:5/5 - very romantic First time having Rome pasta. We ordered a lot of pasta dishes and shared it family style. My personal opinion from best to least:1. Ricotta gnocchi with sausage and fennel purée : rich and creamy. We all liked it and would get this dish again 2. Strozzapreti with short rib ragu: decent dish ! 4/5 3 Spaghetti carbonara with black pepper: decent but salty. Wouldn't get again 3/54. spaghetti with black truffle and grana Padano: plain with a hint of truffle. Def not worth the price. Wouldn't get again . 2/5 5. Garganelli Bolognese: not sure if the pasta noodle is supposed to be undercooked ( Roman style) or the chef did a bad job and served us very hard noodles . The sauce was decent though. None of us liked it and Wouldn't get again 1/55. Linguine with clams and lemon : lacked a lot of flavor and barley any sauce - very dry. Not sure if that's the Roman style or it was poorly made, but we all didn't like it and was disappointed. Would not get again .1/5 Not sure if all Roman pasta tastes like this but not sure if we like it. Could be an acquired taste or we are just so used to the Italian style . We did noticed that the Roman style pastas' sauces are more plain and dry compared to Italian pastas' sauces. Also the pasta noodles were more al denote compared to Italian style. I would come back here to try this place again though. Could be just this seasons' dishes ( they change their menu seasonally or whatever) that were overall not that great or could be just that day.

I went to celebrate an early valentines with my partner, because we won't be able to go out on the 14th... so we were expecting to have a great dinner to hang out and have a little fun.The ambient brought me a feeling that we were going to spend a lot of money, that made us expect pleasant food, tasty and well made. The service is phenomenal, the third star is just because of this, the server was so good he even gave us a try of wine to decide which one to get for our dinnerThe dishes, wow, I can't believe this guys are charging 20+ dollars for a carbonara that was salty and made with bacon instead of pancetta, very simpleAnd then I thought it would get better with the dry-aged NY strip steak, but it ended tasting bland, as if the dry-age was just the name; we ordered it medium-rare and it came well done, we took it back and it was RAW, cold and really chewy. They didn't get it right at all.We paid almos 40 dollars for a bad stake with fingerling potatoes that were not even good looking, and 2 or 3 stems of asparagus or broccoli, we couldn't even identify what it was, salty sides. They charged us $10 for 2 cups of sparkling water, we didn't even finish.I would have cooked a better dinner in home and spend not even the third part of what we paid. I am disappointed
Be the first to ReplyLovely service, good food.
We had a pasta with short rib Ragu - good/heavy as expected. The pasta was well prepared. We split the fried cod main - it came with olives which were not specified on the menu. The cod itself was perfectly cooked. We also had the brussel sprout appetizer - well prepared but a bit sweet.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately both me and my girlfriend had food poisoning
Unfortunately both me and my girlfriend had food poisoning within 2 hours of dining here. I suspect the water we were served was contaminated. Food was ok but definitely not as great as alternatives with lesser reputation. They recently switched a chef which might be the issue. Service was fine.
Be the first to ReplyHoly cow! Never seen a place fall so darn hard.
Went 2 years ago and this place was great with great staff. Now this is 3rd or 4th rate staff, like really bad especially Ismael who appears to be disgruntled that he has to wait tables despite being a bar tender. Rude unhelpful and I thankful sums up ismael really well. The food matched the service. They are essentially serving slop pasta, had two pasta dishes and man were they so amateur it's not funny. It was sad being there Bc of how bad this place is right now, just don't go makes no sense so many better places.

I have been coming to Lupa for over 8 years. We celebrated my mother's 70th birthday here by hosting a private party in the back dining room. Without question, it was one my favorite restaurants in the city.We have been there multiple times in the past 6 month and something is very off. The service is extremely clunky, however some of the staff are kind and clearly trying to make up for gaps. Tonight our pasta was essentially cold and when we brought it to the waiter's attention, they literally heated up the remaining portion and returned it to us. In over 20 years of eating at NYC restaurants, I have never had that happen. Our entrees were also room temperature and there was an over-use of a sticky balsamic glaze which is not typical for Lupa. Before tonight, even if the service was slow, the food was always delicious. I'm really hoping things will improve.
