An utterly perfect meal and evening from start to finish,
An utterly perfect meal and evening from start to finish, truly an extraordinary experience, indeed. Came on a cold and rainy Saturday evening. There was a very large group dinner happening off to a side room that might have contained as many as 25-30 people. That could spell problems for the kitchen and bar staff at some establishments, but not here.I was seated at the bar since I'm traveling on business (and pleasure). My bartender was friendly, had suggestions, and was on point the entire time. A real hustler but friendly at the same time. Started out with a sparkling Cabernet Franc which was new to me and was a great start to the evening. Ordered the cod and a side of garlic laced broccoli, both just so over the top good that you have to wonder who in the kitchen sold their soul to the devil to be able to create such dishes. The cod came in a cream/cheese sauce with butter and hints of who knows what else, bits of cornbread on top. Looked utterly plain until you took the first bite. Heaven. The bartender suggested a Muscadet to pair with the cod, not something I normally would choose, but it was perfect. Score one for him.And not normally a dessert type, with the meal this spectacular I took a chance on the Caramel Profiteroles. I threatened to a person seated next to me that I might lick the bowl. He laughed, "go for it." (I didn't). So what the heck is going on here? M. Wells has it going. I've dined in a lot of great restaurants in the city but never returned. I can't say that about this experience. I think a return has to be in the cards. Very highly recommended.

An extraordinary dining experience and super sweet owner and staff!Three of us went for the first time to celebrate a birthday and were so pleased. The French Onion soup was delicious and one of the best Ceasar salads around. The Bavette Steak was perfectly cooked and paired with great wine. Highly recommend! Beautiful cozy interior with lovely decor! And a special Thank You to the owner Sara! We left an earring behind, which was found and returned! Looking forward to our return :)
Be the first to ReplyMy last visit to M.
Wells was about four years ago "BC". COVID changed everything. The service here was and is very professional but in a casual kind of way. I really do like this place. It feels like the menu has become a bit narrower, and maybe that's related to COVID. I guess you can't stock everything you once did. I had the steak au poive. My wife had the rabbit. I forgot what the others had. It was a nice steak, but not great.I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this place.
Be the first to ReplyThe best Caesar sal' in Long Island City.
I was pleasantly surprised given M. Wells is tucked into a quiet corner - where most people would walk by and not notice a thing. My party ordered the foie gras, Caesar Sal', and wagyu steak. The foie gras was a generous portion and any wine enthusiast would love the food pairings here.Long story short - get the Cae Sal. Molly Baz - I'm looking at you too.

Ugh. I hate writing bad reviews, but we were so disappointed with our food AND service experience. Our expectations were high. Food wise, the oysters and quebecois fries were nice - and I wish I had stopped here. The crab omelet and salmon Asian and beef dishes were simply not special. The wine choices, thanks to my sommelier partner, were delicious. The service was mostly disappointing. From the sitting experience to the overall service fell well below expectations. My partner is Quebecois, so it made this overall experience even more disappointing. And our friends who are top quebecois chefs professionally know the m. Wells owners. Disappointing. Sorry.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is incredible.
The food, the decor, the service. Just discovered it and after one visit, I know I'll be back. Yum!
Be the first to ReplyHighly over price for below average food.
The Oysters are the best thing on the menu but at $21 for half dozen. The steak is $46, over cooked, arrived COLD, over sauced. Other apps are also very expensive and small portions. It only received any stars at all because the venue is cute and the staff were not rude.
Be the first to ReplyAlways amazing.
Had the wagyu steak with maple sauce and string beans. The bourginon for my bestie. And the oysters for my other bestie. Then the dessert! Two orders of profiteroles with ice cream and the peach tart with vanilla ice cream. So amazing. Oh and a bottle of Bordeaux. The server was also super cool. She has a nice accent and was very thoughtful. Will definitely come back!

I hesitate to write this because the wait staff was friendly, but the food is very subpar. We ordered $38 brisket and got five pieces of brisket, of which 4 were 100% pure fat and no meat. Never seen such huge chunks of pure fat served as food before. We asked the wait staff if that's normal and they said it is. Was pretty shocked by that answer. Would not go again.

Wow...what the hell happened to this once former shining star of the upscale LIC dining scene?I came by last night to celebrate a buddy's birthday, recalling a menu filled with decadent delights and stellar service. Well, those recollections are now just mere memories. We were a party of 3 set for an 8pm reservation. We started off with cocktails while we perused the now-severely limited menu (8 apps, 6 entrees, 3 desserts). For cocktails, we all started with the A La Louisiana (Rye, Sweet Vermouth, Benedictine, Absinthe, and bitters), and it was actually very tasty. Then we proceeding to...try...and order the rest of the meal's dishes. Having looked at the menu beforehand online, I had my heart set on the wagyu with maple asparagus. The birthday boy also decided on as well. But...server promptly advised they were out. Okay...shit happens, on to the next choice...the duck marget. Also out. I mean...wtf. You're out of 33% of your entrees at 8PM on a Saturday night?! Talk about putting a yuge fcking damper on the evening. While we all had to recalibrate due to the entrรฉe disaster scene, we thought of at least order some apps. Having remembered that they had some excellent bone marrow, we asked about the peas, beans, razor and marrow dish. The server said it was very good and similar to the former marrow dish, just not on the bone. So we opted for that and a half dozen oysters. And then begrudgingly order 2 of the NY "galbi" strip with fries and the foie gras macaronades w/ morels. The rundown:peas, beans, razor and marrow - absolutely nothing like the former bone marrow dish...with virtually no marrow at all (had it not been in the title, I wouldn't have even guessed it was an ingredient). It was...okay, but basically creamy peas and beans.oysters - thankfully rather hard to f this one up, pretty good.NY "galbi" strip with fries - the steak was cooked to order (medium rare), but rather extremely overpriced at $49 for a pretty cheap cut. foie gras macaronades w/ morels - it was a tasty dish, decadently creamy, but very very little foie gras. During the meal, we also ordered a bottle of red for $66.Getting the check, the meal was about $400 (they did us the pleasure of requiring an automatic gratuity of 20%). Overall, a terribly disappointing outing at a place I used to love. Will not be going back until something drastic changes. ...just an epic fall from grace.
Be the first to Reply"A Star Has Fallen"In one word: Disappointing.
This place used to be a Michelin-starred steakhouse with a great menu and delectable dishes and cocktails. Unfortunately, everything has changed for the worse. There's now an extremely limited dinner menu with only 6 entrees to choose from. I came here for my birthday dinner at 8pm on a Saturday expecting to get the Wagyu but was told they sold out. I then asked for the duck but that was sold out too! I ended up getting the NY "Galbi" strip steak which was the next best thing on the now-even-more-limited remainder of the menu but it wasn't stellar and left much to be desired, especially for the price of $49. The only redeeming factor here was that the cocktails were good, the service was friendly, and the food that we eventually ended up having to make major compromises to order (we seriously contemplated just leaving) was tasty - but everything was overshadowed by the fact that the overall experience was a major disappointment. If you're going to have a significantly limited menu of 6 dishes, at least have available what's on that significantly limited menu of 6 dishes! To be honest, I don't think I'll be coming back here anytime soon. And if I do, I'm going to call ahead a few minutes before my reservation to make sure that they actually have the food listed on their menu.Again...just disappointing.

Service is good, but the steak needs more flavor and is overpriced. I was also unimpressed that it cost 22 dollars for six oysters.
Be the first to ReplyWe sat in the back room with a table of 10 in February.
First the room was freezing, to the extent that half of had our jackets on for the meal. Second. the meat was completely uncooked, we needed to sent it back to be recooked. And third, the bill was double the initial set menu estimate, they never brought a menu or prices but kept charging for every item -- including adding a mandatory 20%. This place is just looking to swindle and not provide service. Watch out, do not recommend, especially for a group.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for the Valentine's Day celebration.
They only very limited menu and ย 20% fee is added to the bill. We sat indoor and it looked like a bar. There are not many tables. They have an outdoor seating area. Due to cold weather and snow, it was empty. There is no roof or heat. I think the outdoor seating is only for summer. We ordered the bone marrow , French onion soup and steak. The price is as high or even higher than restaurants in Manhattan. The bread came with the bone marrow is very salty. I won't recommend. The French onion soup is good. But for $25 a small bowl? I don't think it's worthy. My steak is a bit dry. The fries was ok. My friend said the regular menu may be better. I am not sure if I will give this place a second chance. I feel it's not worthy for the $$
Be the first to ReplyMy idea of a great steakhouse.
The times I have gone was large groups. Post-pandemic they don't have the variety on the menu they had before. I really missed the bone marrow dish. I gave them a 4star rating because of this but I don't think it's their fault. Drinks are great and service is goodOutdoor area available

Tried to order the Caesar salad 1 year later and still nothing. These people should close their place.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a joke- seriously garbage.
Terrible food, overpriced and terrible service. My friend got sick we got charged $40 for a seafood ristotto with no discernible seafood. Avoid this place at all costs! They never asked why we didn't finish any of the food and charged us 20% service fee ha!

Lived in the area for a while but never made it here until tonight. It did used to be a steakhouse but now it's a more diverse menu that is seasonal and changes regularly.Starter, main, dessert, cocktails - all excellent along with brilliant service (cocktails were actually a surprise highlight). Highly highly recommend.Loved the 20% charge that goes to the whole team and it reflects well in everything about M. Wells - a happy, smiley, knowledgeable team who took great care of us.Sorry, we were too busy eating to take pictures!Really surprising Yelp rating on here - most negative reviews seem to be from the Covid era when businesses were trying not to collapse.
Be the first to Replynice little restaurant tucked away in LIC, i walk past it
nice little restaurant tucked away in LIC, i walk past it all the time before realizing its a dining area. This is apparently an automobile garage transformed into a restaurant. It's a 'steakhouse' but there's only one steak item, the steak and frites. the steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were my favorite part of the meal. We also ordered carbonara and it was perfectly al dente noodles with a very savory sauce. a nice spot for a special occasion.service was fast and courteous.

The service & environment are great! We made a reservation for Saturday night and it wasn't busy at all. There are indoor & outdoor options with tables set apart from one and the other. We ordered Oyster, NY Steak, Summer Salad & Salmon. I'm impressed by the refreshing salad mix and the unique tastes of salmon with green beans & grilled grapes. The only disappointment was the steak. It's near well done, and, with that, it costs 49$. We really weren't impressed by it.

Last night did indoor dining after well over a year, and couldn't have picked a better place to ease back into a semblance of dining normalcy. From the perfectly balanced Vesper, to sweet oysters, to smoked mussels on toast, to the textural delight of a dessert - fazuelos with tahini ice-cream and candied fruit. And such pleasant service, I didn't realize how much I missed this kind of dining experience. Definitely coming back (especially since their menu changes regularly).
