Great Food and Service at a moderate cost. Absolutely worth the extra drive from 96th street.
Great food and service at a moderate price. Restaurant comparable to NY/NJ area where there are many Italian restaurants. Well worth the added drive from 96th street. Highly recommend .

Authentic Italian food in old home. This is the second time I have eaten here and was awesome again. I don't believe you could order anything wrong. I would recommend getting here earlier rather than later as parking is limited. There is paid parking behind the restaurant but free parking is limited. Worth the drive. Looking forward to eating here again.

we went here becuase of all the reviews and our Daughter In Law wanted to try for her birthday celebration. first there literally is zero parking. which is pretty bad when you see the paid parking and not downtown. but ok, we will deal. just be aware that you'll most likely have to pay to park if thier 15 free spaces are full. We were sat pretty quick and served water. the server took our appetizer order which we tried the shrimp stuffed with cheese, which we liked, the fried calamari which was good but would prefer marinara sauce for it not the mayo based dipping sauce. and the asparagus patties which were not very good and tasted burnt. the bread came and was actually really good but no butter and they don't have butter and no parmesan cheese or anything to mix with the olive oil which is weird for an italian restaurant. My Wife has the special which was baked tilipia on top a lobster cream sauce with angel hair pasta. the fish was good but there was very little sauce and the pasta had no sauce at all and was dry. I had the chicken piccata and angel hair pasta. the sauce was good and not to much lemon and tasted good, however the chicken was overcooked and dry and the pasta was dry and no sauce as well and i used the little sauce that was not on the chicken to moisten the pasta. the salads that come with the dinners are very basic and both of ours had brown lettuce in them. my wife wanted a dessert and had the cannoli and it was actually very good. to us the restaurant is highly over rated and over priced. there are better itilian restaurants around (non chain). We also both had to find a restroom on our ride home as did our son as all of us had the runs pretty bad about an hour after eating. we will not be back.

The food is great and the service is top notch. Ask for Amanda if you can. She is fun and knowledgeable. Tried a veal dish and it was superb!
Be the first to ReplyInteresting Venue; Food overall was great. Eclectic ??
You should know that parking behind the house gives you access to the restaurant with no steps, but we couldn't tell if parking was charged or free in the back. - Food in general was good, but the BREAD - was outstanding, but we had to ask for it. PRO: Interesting, old family home turned into a restaurant. With that comes small seating areas, old wall paper covered with family photos. One might say the old family feeling. Tables small inside- good for only 2. Outside patio is overgrown with plants and a fountain set way in the corner. Gives the patio a family feel. The food was very good, with many choices. Nice wine selection with prices reasonable. CON: Old House with steps leading to front yard/door of restaurant. No railing on steps (couple we were with needed help getting up steps). Inside seating really close; outside patio seating very close and placement of tables forces waiters to squeeze by the table to serve other. Parking is difficult to find. Inside a bit dusty/dark. Outside patio chairs are plastic, but very difficult for the people we were with to move the chair on the patio pavers. The restaurant seems to need a bit of a upgrade visually. -- The plastic chairs just didn't do it for me.

We had reservations at another restaurant and saw the crowd here and changed our plans. Between the 5 of us we tried the fried calamari, fried mozzarella, salad with ceasar and balsamic dressing, veal Parmigiano, chicken Alfredo and manicotti. NOTHING was good, but the bread. But, even the bread was brought to our table with no butter or parmesan cheese to add to the olive oil. The food was under seasoned. The waiter poured coke from another glass into mine, in the process poured coke on our table and walked away without saying a word. Overall a $150 mistake.

Gracious, old home turned quaint restaurant. We arrived 20 minutes after opening on Thursday evening and were seated immediately. They filled up quickly both inside and out. Our waiter, Eric, was fantastic. He was attentive but not hovering, helpful, clear spoken and prompt even though they were very busy. The food was hot, plentiful and very good. I had eggplant puttanesca and shared toasted ravioli as an appetizer. They were delicious and I brought half the main home. When Eric realized we were celebrating my birthday he brought out my tiramisu with a candle and made dessert special, but not ostentatious. It was house made and delicious and the cup of espresso perfectly complemented it. I will definitely be back!

The silverware on the table was dirty. We sat in a glass covered patio that was dusty. Olive oil jar did not have a cap on it. Food was ok.
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere and service
We had a great experience at this restaurant the food was good and the service was excellent We made a spur of the moment trip to Indy and decided to try this restaurant and we were very satisfied
Be the first to ReplyTaste and feel of Italy
We had recently visited Rome and were looking to take our friends to a place that would create a memory. Mamaโs did just that! Would recommend to anyone but be aware you need to get there early or you will have a wait!
Be the first to ReplyOld-fashioned Italian food
I was glad to pamper my weekend by picking this restaurant for dinner. As soon as you step in, you'll realise that this property used to be a spacious house then converted to a restaurant. This lovely restaurant is easily one of the best when it comes to old-fashioned Italian food. The interior seating is laid in small rooms with intimate settings, though you still have an option to enjoy your meal at the patio with its beautiful little garden. The food is vibrant and lively and the menu is chock-full of Italian favorites. So, the best part about it , itโs as visually beautiful the restaurant looks as the food is delicious. You definitely come here hungry, you leave with no space vacant in your belly. Don't miss the chance to try their chicken parmesan and chicken lasagna.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Experience, Worth the Wait
Wait to get in was a bit lengthy, but totally worth it!!! Our waiter was extremely attentive and friendly. The service was very fast, especially considering how busy the place was. Drinks were tasty and food was excellent. Only downside was that it was sometimes hard to hear because it was so busy and the rooms were small. Also very hard to get to the bathroom without getting in the way of all the wait staff running around. Regardless, we can't wait to go back! Highly recommend

Atmosphere is very nice. We got there just as they opened and ordered lasagna. Taste was great but it was cold. Nice for a one time visit but not worth the drive for cold food.
Be the first to ReplyGrossly overrated and overpriced!
The food was horribly mediocre. Reminiscent of BOIL IN A BAG fare with a huge price tag. Almost $100 for two people that should have been less than $ for the quality of what we received. LAME.
Be the first to ReplyVisiting for a getaway
When we travel, we like to visit places that are not chain and generally off the beaten path. This charming place did not disappoint and we understand why it was #1 on the list. We made a 5:00 reservation o a Tuesday and so thankful we did. By the time we were leaving it was filling up. The staff was very friendly and our server Keith was very gracious in helping us make our selections. The bread...oh my! I highly recommend the stuffed mushrooms with crab appetizer.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Italian food - delicious!
Such a fun restaurant, an unforgettable environment, and such a joyful place to eat. Don't skip out on Mama Carolla's, worth the wait!
Be the first to ReplyBest Italian in Indy
Hands down the best Italian food in Indy. OMG the shrimp scampi or the chicken piccata are our favorites, but you canโt go wrong with any entree. Large group or a romantic dinner for two. Go early when they open. Save room for dessert, tiramisu or cannolis.
Be the first to ReplyAs good as any Italian restaurant anywhere
This is a superb restaurant. It checks all the boxes..ambiance, service, food. Very busy on a Friday night but we were there before six and seated in their heated tent. Everything was delicious and hot. Just outstanding.
