We heard so many positive reports about Mama's Seafood that we wanted to try it, but then, reservations were reportedly very difficult too, so we weren't that optimistic. However, a time came available and we booked it.When we arrived (2:30pm) I was a little pessimistic due to all the hype, but that all disappeared very quickly as each attendant unapologetically was super-attentive and helpful, including the valet, host, greeter, second host, and busser. Our server was warm and friendly, knowledgeable and meek, yet subtle and confident. The food was outstanding, and memorable. It is very expensive but the experience well worth it. Whether we will be back is another story, but we will recommend it to everyone without hesitation. A great dining experience for sure!Thank you Mama!
..Mama's was the highlight of my family's recent Hawaii trip! The location, the service and the food!! Karen was perfection, explaining each dish, the fish and the cocktails...what the famous dishes and drinks were and the house favorites. All of us loved all the food, but each of us preferred the dish we ordered for ourself. Great service!! And when all of that is said and done, you are sitting on the most beautiful piece of coastline, enjoying the natural ocean breezes as they blow through the dining room!! We are already planning our trip back to Maui just for another dining experience at Mama's. Mahalo Mama's!!

The meal was outstanding and amazing customer service.As our appetizer we had the Maui Octopus and was cooked perfect and tasted amazing.I had the Mahi-Mahi with Lobster and Crab in Macadamia Nut Crust and my Wife had the Beef Short Rib "Pulehu" and Tristan Lobster Tail. Both cooked perfect and very flavourful! Highly recommend both of them!For dessert we enjoyed the Polynesian Black Pearl. Visually beautiful and tasted great!

Amazing! While it can be hard to get a table here it's worth the effort. You can set alerts on opentable to find a spot when someone cancels but they go fast. If you can book ahead do so. From the location, the decor, the service but most importantly the cuisine MAMA's exceeds the hype. Several times guests along with myself have commented that it has been the best meal they ever had. Even coming from those who don't really enjoy seafood. That's saying something. I typically enjoy dining on the locally caught fish often on fish I've only seen on their menu. It truly is a gem do yourself a favor and just listen to all the excellent reviews and try for yourself. Prices are comparable to other locations on the island yet service ambiance and most importantly cuisine are outstanding and exceed the others. It's always a unforgettable memory having the pleasure to dine there if you are on the fence just go make and make your own memories there. You won't regret it!

The only reservation available for my wife’s birthday was 11:30 am. Thinking that it might make for a less Happy Birthday we went anyway. It couldn’t have been better. Going in the daylight allowed a wonderful view of the water. The menu is the same and the service was still the finest in Maui. The food was its usual superb along with great service. While very expensive it is a treat that you should give yourself. And don’t worry the time of your reservation it will still be world class.

From Stellar to Average
We have been traveling to Maui for 40+ years and each visit requires at least one lunch at Mama’s Fish House. However, we think this visit was our last. In 2021 we noticed the service was not as it was prior to the pandemic, but the food and ambiance was still stellar. Prices had increased significantly, but that was true everywhere. Our 2023 visit was not a good experience either. Therefore based on the still increasing prices, we will search for other options. Our server was not very pleasant, it was an inconvenience to elaborate on the fish and the preparation. She asked four times if we we were ready for more iced tea without refilling the glasses. Stop interrupting our conversation and either bring more tea or refill the glasses. The server had an assistant, who did not assist with our table at all. I sat with a dirty plate in front of me for 15 minutes. I waited for a lengthy time to order dessert. All in all, it is a beautiful setting and the food is excellent, but extreme cost and average service will force us to other restaurants.

The location is stunning, they make the best Mai Tai, and the food, presentation and service are excellent.We had the Sashimi of Ahi and Ono, whiskey barrel aged soy sauce & wasabi with Kiawe salt and Waihee Tomato and Maui Onion with Point Reyes blue cheese and pine nuts which were great.We both loved the Ono with Hamakua mushrooms, garlic, white wine and capers and Mahi-Mahi with Lobster and Crab in a Macadamia nut crust.We were stuffed but decided on dessert: Banana Macadamia Nut Crisp and Chocolate Martini.If you have never been, you must try!

Always at the top of the list when it comes to restaurants to try on Maui, we were very excited to visit this restaurant. When you arrive, the view does not disappoint, the perfect beach front scenery looks surreal. The staff was very friendly. However, at this price point, we didn't think the experience was worth it. The food was good, especially the fresh seafood, but the value just wasnt justified. If you're on Maui and you have the time, Mama's still provides a great experience, but it's not a must-try.

Mama's is a special place for special occasions or just because you are in Hawaii! We have gone 4+ times already over the years & will return as the food and service is just so wonderful. Fish is so fresh. I am hooked on the fish curry so it is what I get each time-but others I have dined with order other items and love them all. They have some lovely desserts, if you love chocolate then the Black Pearl is for you. They also have a comprehensive wine list. We were able to take home the half bottle we did not finish. Service is quite fast so if you want to linger tell your waiter to pace the meal or you will be in and out in less than an hour. Reservations a must and yes, it is quite pricey but as the meal is so delish / special it's ok. Also go before dark so you can get the pictures as it is a lovely spot!

Without question- the best meal of the trip! We were skeptical the food/service could be as good as advertised, but Mama's did an incredible job. The Kanpachi was absolutely incredible! We also really enjoyed the Macidenia Mahi Mahi. The waiter(young gentleman from West Texas) was very friendly and had great recommendations for our group. Finally the deserts were fantastic. Thanks for a great meal!
Looks like their success has gone to their heads - stopped by last Friday mid-afternoon for a drink at the bar and the "guards" ran us out of the parking lot - "NO ROOM HERE" they said - you can leave and try later....I guess you have to give them Kudos for popularity - but their attitude sucks big-time. It looks like the lady "Gatekeeper" at the front desk takes quite the pleasure out of sending potential customers away....We won't be back.

Used facilities after my meal and was very pleased! The decor reminded me my childhood growing up on the country side and coming down to Hawaii with my momma and pa. The only complaint I have is that the stalls were a wee bit tight for my liking. Other than that, it was extremely cleanly and very cute Onto the food. My meal was delicious! I got some sort of white fish called Kanpachi, with rice and it was to die for! Absolutely loved it, and I'm a picky eater.Service was perfect! Waitress came over to the table perfect amount of times and she was so very kind. Love this place and I will definitely come back. Amazing fish house.

Was good for the hype and one time visit, had a few things which were overlooked like a birthday celebration which didn't get acknowledged. We also had the very last reservation of the evening and it seemed to our group that the waiter really just wanted to get home, wasn't as attentive as we expected for this type of establishment. Food was very good but the cost was really high for a 5 star restaurant in general. Won't be back next time we visit Maui but can say we visited. Really loved the decor and artwork. The pie was the best order on the menu. Heard from locals the pearl dessert is overhyped and the flavor of the chocolate pie was incredible. It was true! Would recommend this place for a first time visit if you're able to get reservations, otherwise you're ok if you miss it. They could use a couple more non-fish entree options and perhaps another kids option as well.

We had read a lot about the restaurant before booking, we booked 7 months before coming as we were on a cruise with NCL, it has to be one of the best meals I have had not only the food was great but the location is to die for.

This was by far my favorite day on Maui, and we had a whole lot of great experiences. It was magic from the first moment. After the initial checkin, we walked down to the beach and the restaurant, seeing from the outside Mamas Fish House. Charming is enough of a word, perfection comes close. I loved that the restaurant isn't massive, but busy and hopping. the decor was perfect, just right for a beach restaurant, but with unusual and lovely touches, like the carved wood benches, and canvas roof in one room. And the food? Ive been throwing around a lot of perfects, but starting with a ginger cocktail, to the fish, to the desert, everything just seemed to be in sync. fresh beautiful, but not fussy flower arrangements complimented everything, and yes, the music was just right. a delightful combination of Hawaiian traditional music, and fun 60 and 70s jazz. I would go back to Maui just for this experience

They will tell you if there is. They'll give you a ticket for your car. Give that to the hostess. They'll have openings at the bar area, and you'll be seated and ready for a truly incredible culinary experience. From the drinks to the appetizers, to the main courses, dessert and French pressed coffee, it is something to behold. Do yourself a favor & just go here without a reservation around10:30-10:45am for a once in a lifetime experience. Afterwards you can walk the grounds to the beach and soak in your morning. Pricey but worth it!!

Mama's Fish House lives up to the hype! You are not just here to eat, you are here to eat it all up- the scene, the service and the food. We got here an hr and a half before sunset so aloha beautiful ocean view and island ambiance. Appetizer, mushroom bisque, house bread, fish entrees and dessert were all delicious. My only change is more liquor to our adult drinks. They were a bit watered down and I'm not a fan of paying for overpriced ice.

I balked at the price, but everything I ate was absolutely incredible. The setting is gorgeous too and was a wonderful destination in and of itself. In the end, it was worth every penny, it’s a very special place.

Let's start from the beginning, it is extremely difficult to get a reservation here but if you do manage to it's well worth it! Typically they say they are booked out 6 months in advance but we were lucky enough to call 1 week prior to see if there was any cancellations and we managed to get a table.The entrance requires valet parking which is complimentary. The restaurant is in a very scenic location so be sure to take many pictures.The menu changes day to day and also the fish is caught fresh so the type of fish varies. We ordered the Mahi Mahi in a Macadamia nut crust with lobster, it also came with asparagus and mash potatoes. We also ordered the Grand Banks Scallops which came with a Mushroom risotto. Both dishes were excellent and extremely delicious - as you would expect! Prior to our mains we received complimentary bread and a small soup.For dessert we ordered the Black Pearl which not only is aesthetically pleasing to the eye but extremely tasty!All in all an amazing experience when visiting Maui.
