Very disappointing.
What a disappointment. Mandarin Oriental is synonymous with luxury and impeccable service, we’ve stayed at many around the world. Unfortunately MO New York felt like a 3-4 star hotel: It doesn’t feel like much care is taken in keeping things clean and smart - the entrance carpet needs a thorough wash. It’s stained and discoloured. The hotel is VERY dated. The rooms, the shower (don’t get me started on that), the decor, even the hairdryer. The breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are very limited. Nothing special about dining at this hotel unless you get full and satisfied off of Central Park views. The spa area is the worst I’ve seen. No beds at the pool. A sauna that barely works. Dated and questionably clean. We got shocked whenever we touched ANYTHING in this hotel?! The service was average at best. However, special mention to the concierge team who provided great restaurant recommendations and managed to secure difficult bookings. The location of the hotel is good, although we found ourselves travelling most days and nights to other parts of the city. Most of NY’s best restaurants are not located ‘close’ to this hotel. If you want to be close to Central Park, and some of the art museums, then great location. All in all, wouldn’t recommend MO New York.

Room was lovely and had the most amazing view. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Only downside was their really good restaurant was under renovation and we didn't realize. The Lounge restaurant was nice but we were expecting more of a dining experience for our celebration.

Delightful stay. MO New York has competent, caring staff in every corner of the operation. The hotel is sparkling clean. Unusually for NYC hotels, it is quiet because of its location starting at the 35th floor creating an oasis of calm in this bustling city.
Be the first to ReplyChange the receptionist at the bar, she has no customer service
Again , the hotel is ok but overpriced and the customer service js so so bad . The receptionist at the bar is so rude , she has no manners . The place ans tables were empty but they refused ti give you a good tables and when you asked why they said it was reserved, we stayed at the bar for more than four hours and the tables were empty . They should replace the receptionist at the bar with someone who has good customer service and etiquette.

Stayed at MO for a long weekend! First time there and will never stay anywhere else while in NYC. Before we even got there, fantastic help from concierge with restaurant recommendations. Yvonne was spectacular! She was so kind upon check in and then went the extra mile to make my son's birthday weekend unforgettable. Her attention to detail and extra special surprises were incredible. He will never forget her! The entire MO team was friendly and helpful. Shout out to the excellent housekeeping staff. Everyone went out of their way to make the weekend extra special. The rooms were wonderful, clean, beautiful views, and the location cannot be beat, right next to central park. There are alot of great restaurants within walking range of hotel.

Beautiful hotel with fabulous views! Unfortunately I was not able to use Spa because it was fully booked the whole time we were there. Great service from housekeeping team. Concierges were wonderful, helping us to find exactly the right places to go to. Shoutout to the doorman Gabriel. He recognized us every time when we were back to the hotel. And manager of reception Oxana. She is very attentive to the details. We briefly mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary and after the day in the city we found a kind surprise in the room. That was a sweet touch. Hotel is great. We will be back. Thank you.

Overall a very good stay. Excellent service at the lounge in the evenings with a menu that presented multiple things I was happy with and interesting drinks. Room was spacious, comfortable and had good amenities. Concierge staff were very helpful both in advance of and during my stay. I loved the provision of advance copies of books in the rooms - what a special and novel touch. Only two real downsides: 1. Rude, bordering on obnoxious front desk representative at the spa. 2. Clueless wait staff at the lounge one morning sitting me down with the sun in my eyes. Asked if the blind could be lowered, was told it didn't work and could not be lowered, did not offer to move me to another area for comfort. Staff at a run of the mill Marriott will show more proactivity and care for guests, really not expected at an MO.
Be the first to ReplyVery good but below expectations
Great hotel overall, but you would expect a bigger room after paying 800$ a night. Service was great, our room attendant Clarise had everything checked and prep. Views to Hudson and beloved Central Park are top notch. If we find a good rate, we might think about coming back.

Absolutely amazing hotel. The room, staff and all amenities were top notch! The view from the 49th floor looking south downtown and the Hudson River were incredible. The only hotel I will be staying when I'm in New York!

One of the best experience ever in a hotel. Outstanding service! You are in the heart of NYC, you can go for a jog in central park, walk to your Broadway Show and shop in walking distance. From Dyptique products to the latest amenities, design, location, interior decor everything is top notch! Personals, concierges, waiters all will makes you feel like you are home and makes you feel like a royal!

Exceptional stay. The staff was very friendly and immediate service was quite impressive. Thanks for the opportunity to stay at your facility. I will be looking for your hotel upon my next stay and in different countries.

A little dated but ok. Too many attempts to overly monetize, e.g. basic internet. Good cleaning throughout day. Too pricey in restaurant (sorry). Ok gym, but still not excellent. Great and welcoming staff..........

From the room, service and hospitality everything was amazing. Restaurant with amazing view, spa, bell Boys, fitness club very welcoming, i booked through amex platinum and it was worth every single penny, One of the best part is the location which is at central park, many great historic restaurants like russian tea room and others around there. Subway is just next to the hotel so you can go to any place in new york, 15mins walk from time square, breaksfast service was amazing its always fast and delicious. Not to forget evening turn down service and instant chat through guest services through the phone system very convineant.

Excellent service at lovely hotel. Premier location. Enjoyable breakfast with sweeping views. Pleasantly surprised with level of service at spa, dining and housekeeping post pandemic, compared to other hotels that have seemed to give up on top notch service. Looking forward to another stay on our next trip to NYC!

Amazing stay at the M.O. in NYC. From room, to restaurant, to service; all top notch. We are already planning our next vacation at another location! In the heart of NYC right off Columbus Circle is a must visit.
Be the first to ReplySurprising luxurious Mandarin Oriental NY
We stayed 5 nights at the Mandarin Oriental New York as the last part to our honeymoon trip to NYC and this property amazed me, Valeria checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed from the first moment, they pay attention to every detail, we had a lovely room with a Hudson view, beautifully appointed, turn down service was my favorite part, they make everything perfect for a good night of sleep, I have to mention Carmen at the fitness center, she’s super nice and makes sure you have everything you need, also Jonathan was very attentive to my requests - a big thank you! And I also have to mention Elsa at the MO lounge, it was a pleasure to see her every morning there! I’m so looking forward to come back to the city and stay at this wonderful property, close to everything you might need (The shops at Colombus Circle are downstairs - Whole Foods, pharmacies, Central Park, what else can you ask for)?
