This wasn't my first visit to Maoz, but it was one of the best. At the end of a visit to London, my trip budget and my stomach were simultaneously running low. Maoz provided an inexpensive and filling dinner. The falafel box let me customize my meal and stuff in more food than I ended up being able to eat.Not much in the way of seating here, but nearby Leicester Square provided a suitable spot to eat up.
Be the first to ReplyDecent little veggie place that's a chain.
The falafel was fresh and the salad was a nice choice. 6.50£ for salad and falafel is still steep in my opinion! A good stop if you need something quick but there are yummier options around!
Be the first to ReplyI have to say I am kind of with Geoff on this place.
It is not as good as it once was.Maoz is where I tasted my first ever falafel, that fateful night at the end of a stag do...And sadly for falafel-kind, no other place has even been close to being as good.Of course it was loads better when there were more salad options and you could go back to the salad bar, but my favourite options are all still there and I can't finish the thing on the first serving let alone going back to the salad bar for more, so the changes don't affect me in the slightest! It's not getting the full 5 stars from me because I remember the better days but it's still a solid 4 and I don't think you can get a better falafel than this anywhere in the area (including the couple of local falafel stalls nearby).Go Maoz!
Be the first to ReplyMoaz have a bunch of awesome things going for them.
Service is super friendly, food is cheap and the help your own salad looked crazy fresh even though we came late at night (~9pm). Like literally everything looked like it had just been freshly cut seconds ago. However I'm not really a falafel person and falafel at Moaz didn't really change my mind which is why I've knocked it down a star. A must go if you like falafels or salad! Add ons include feta, guac and aubergine which are again crazy fresh!

Somehow having an office within walking distance to Soho and Covent Garden I still get panic attacks on what I should be having for lunch every day. Luckily the choices are numerous and I am making it my mission in life to try out 2 or 3 joints per week and I believe this task will be a neverending story considering how fast some places come and go in this area.A few doors down from Biju bubble tea shop is this falafel place, which is surprisingly filled with people for lunch. When people mention lunch falafel is certainly not on my list of eats, but hey, on with the food! The cheapest item on the menu is a falafel wrap which has 4 falafels, salads that they put in for you in a wrap for £6.50. You can get a pitta which is £7.50 but you can add more salad at the salad bar. Fancy hot fried chips? Another £2 please. There is a box deal where you can make one trip to the salad bar. They make the wrap in front of you so you can see just how much lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot etc is in your meal and wow was that a healthy lunch or what? The salad ingredients are very very fresh. The falafel balls look pretty small but they are seasoned well and very crunchy. My lament is that the wrap was not heated so the only "hot" thing about this wrap are the semi warm falafels. The way they layer the veg as well means that one bite might consist only of lettuce and another bite only beetroot, which is hilarious. If you eat in the place is quite small with some seating, so it runs out of seating fast. I would just take away my meals and eat in the comfort somewhere else. Not bad all in all, but not somewhere that I am so amazed with that I will come back all the time. It is a bit on the expensive side (I could have a complete set lunch at one of the Japanese restaurants nearby for £7!)

It used to be the best falafel in London, is it still? I'm not sure...They've changed it up a little since I was last there, the white pittas are gone, and the only option is wholemeal. Not such a bad thing. But they've also reduced their offerings in the salad bar and stuck up a sign that says only one visit allowed. I can understand why they did it, but with something like a falafel, unless you are really good at putting it together the first time, quite often, by the time you get halfway through, all of the goodies you got from the salad bar are gone and you're left with falafel balls and lettuce, not the best way to finish. But still, hot falafel in a pitta with as much veggies you can pile on. What's not to like? The falafel balls are made to order and I normally get a salad box, easier to handle and control what you eat and when. It's about £7 for lunch, not including a drink which is the upper limit of what I'm normally willing to pay. That said, it's relatively healthy and you get a fair amount of bang for your buck, even with no protein available. Why only 3 stars? They've removed some of my favourite salad bar items and implemented the one trip only rule. Otherwise it'd be rated higher...
Be the first to ReplyFav place for falafel.
Go for the box,bit pricey but you can put as many veggies and pickles as you want for free. Some sides cost 50p extra. Cozy, tiny place, mostly busy but you always get a place inside. Lovely decor, kind service.Unfortunately, after wanting to eat there yesterday (28.05.2016) I shockingly learmed that they closed down

Superbly fresh food in a large quantities for a mind-blowingly cheap price point. Satisfy a raging hunger with protein (although falafels are fried), veggies, and salt with a pita or "salad box." Great to scarf after a long trek/hike or workout without feeling bogged down post-meal, or like you're going to go into a carbo-overload coma followed by hangover. For less than £6, you get the salad box with about 6-7 falafels, a heaping dollop of hummus, and a large box in which you can load up to your heart's desire with veggie sides like fried cauliflower, pickled carrots, purple cabbage salad, mushrooms, and other daily offerings. The pitas are also gargantuan, and a few £ less in price. Staff are very friendly and willing to take the time to explain ingredients and different modes of preparation. A super casual and quick bite in or take out option. A definite go-to meal for lunch or dinner without the health-adverse guilt, and this is great to have in the heart of Soho where there are far too many naughty temptations like gelato, cakes, pastries, and pub fare that can make it hard to find healthy, quick, and cheap options sometimes.

Lovve this place! Probably because I can choose my own salads, what always adds a bit of fun ;) Falafel is always fresh and good, can't complain really. They even have tahini!

This is a really inexpensive place healthy place to grab a bite while walking around soho. It looks like nothing from the outside but its so good! Its mainly self service and you can fill up your dish with an assortment of veggies and sides. Chips are extra and the lemonade is good! The side sauces are a nice touch. Its very casual dining that you can full up on easily.
