Unique real Russian athmosphere and food!
Wonderful Russian rstaurant in Knightsbridge, very close to London! Ambiance, fur iture and athmosphere are incredible. Looks like grandmother’s place. Food is really good. Try all kinds of specialties, salads, georgian cheese filled bread, raviolis, fried minced meat balls and honey multi-layered cakes Personnel is also very nice. The bathroom is an experience. Unique place!
Be the first to ReplyInteresting Russian Cuisine Experience!
As a non-Russian, and someone who had not really tried Russian food before, I found the experience very interesting! The décor of the restaurant is old Russian style (as far as I can tell!) and was very quaint. The service was excellent throughout and cannot fault. The food was very interesting (for me) and I found everything very tasty and unique! Lots of potato, mushrooms, cabbage etc, as expected. The bill price is high, but given the lack of real competition I guess there is not too much choice for this type of food in London. I would return with friends to share the experience!

Stupendous mid afternoon meal in this fine venue with my father (for his birthday), and my sister’s mate. Service was polite, friendly and, professional - I’d never eaten on a mid-afternoon here before, and the venue had an ultra chilled, laid back, highly pleasant atmosphere. Four chaps on an adjacent table to ourselves were utterly brilliant - charming, fun and great conversation - who happened to be visiting the City for London Petroleum Week. Mains of Sturgeon with caviar and mash, Stroganoff and an array of Pirogi - fantastic. Superb.
Be the first to ReplyVery nice restaurant with fantastic live music!
We loved our visit to this restaurant last weekend (Maslenitza)! Pancake menu was superb and very tasty! Everything tasted great - I had salmon pancake and we shared some sweet ones too with little pots of jams on the side. Very traditional and very tasty. Live music was a duet dressed as gypsies and they put on a great show which was totally unexpected and indeed a great surprise! You don't see or hear music like that everyday in London! The lady singer was stunning and sang beautifully. Also loved the accordion that the man played!)) Overall the place was very busy but we felt that the staff looked after us well and we are absolutely coming back for more.
Be the first to ReplyNothing Russian, nothing special
Very average service. The food is barely Russian. Almost no space between tables, hence, feels like u r in a cantina of busy office…

Best Russian restaurant in London. They have a very good wine options and very helpful staff. Highly recommended at any time of the day.
Be the first to ReplyNot as good as it was
We came for lunch and last time visited was 4 years ago. Sometimes I have cravings for Russian food and specific dishes are difficult to recreate at home and none of my family members will eat. I wanted to order specifically golubzi (staffed cabbage leaves) but they were sold out. I’ve heard the same request on other table too. Instead I’ve ordered Pozarska cutleta but it was a bit disappointing as it felt it was heated in the microwave . The best part of the meal was soup soljanka , nice tea and great desserts (very wide selection)
Be the first to ReplyThe worst service in London.
One of the worst places I have ever been to. Tasteless and stale food is the best thing in this restaurant… but the service is simply disgusting, the waiters will not come until you call, they don’t remember who ordered which dish, but all this fades against the restaurant manager’s communication style - extremely unfriendly, almost rude.
Be the first to ReplyHostess absolutely rude!
rude, not friendly, came with the family to have dinner, we were refused in a very rude manner, deeply disappointed
Be the first to ReplyNot a great experience.
We have eaten in other MariVanna restaurants in St Petersburg and Moscow. The London location does not compare at all to those other two locations. The food quality in the London location is mediocre at best. It's as though they've hire d some English guy to prepare Russian food. The service is poor. When my wife did not like on of the dishes and wanted to send it back, the stuff refused to do so. Would not recommend to anyone.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible pasha and customer service
I ordered kulich and pasha online for Easter. Kulich was ok, but pasha was horrible. Looks like they put only raisins inside and pretty much no pasha. Impossible to eat. I was really upset and disappointed. I filled the form online and no one got back to me. Never going to order from them again and don’t recommend their place.

My first visit to this most unusual restaurant in Knightsbridge. My Russian friend guided me through an Extensive traditional menu. A person really needs to see this fabulous place as words could never describe it.

We had a family birthday lunch of 6 people . We had to wait for menu about 15 min and even when we was ready to make an order we couldn’t get hold of waitress. So 30 min later we finally placed an order. In about another 30 min half of our party got there starters but another half waited for about 15 min before asking for there food. And the waitress said that we didn’t order anything for a starter and our mains are ready. So we insisted to check the notes of the waitress. And here we go our starters was there. So we waited another 20 min for it. Must say half of our party already eaten there mains and half still waiting for the starters. 30 min later we finally got our food. The quality of the food wasn’t that good. The waitress was rude. Our bill came to nearly £300 but it was worth £50 (my personal opinion). Never again
Be the first to ReplyService below average
Very rude and arrogant staff. Food quality is well below average and quiet pricey. Would not recommend.
Be the first to Replygot sick after the food
I had a dumplings with cherry that's was sticked together 8 in 1 ,beetroot salat with 50% of garlic and dumplings with mushroom impossible to eat .so I just tried
i started to vomit and feel very bad on my stomach .
Plus disgusting smell of garlic is still in my mouth .
If you want to stay healthy never go there and never try the food .
OK food, awful service
From the beginning the waitress was slow, grumpy, unattentive and forgetful. Everytime we tried to call her over it took up to 20mins for her to come and take our order. Each time she did it in disdain and forgot half our order. The table next to us actually went upstairs to get someones attention at one point, which is not acceptable especially in a high end restaurant in Knightsbridge.
Food was okay but not amazing and definitely doesn't justify the flaws of the service. Only good thing is the decor which is ruined by the service and you feel uncomfortable everytime you want to ask for something from the waitress.
Overall would not go again and not sure how the restaurant actually sustains themselves with loyal customers. I definitely don't think anyone who was there on the night we were will be going back again. They will likely tell their mates it's not worth it.
Actually if you want a sulky waitress, long wait times with the surprise element of not knowing whether the food you ordered will actually make it to the table, then I would recommend.
Unpleasant experience
Beautiful design but not attentive staff. Food was mediocre. They forgot about our drinks and we had to remind twice. Very unpleasant experience
Be the first to ReplyHORRIBLE service. Food is OK. Prices are CRAZY.
I had been to Mari Vanna in 2017 and was swept away by the ambience, the decor, the food and the service. Everything was impeccable. Was. Came back in Feb 2022 and couldn’t be more disappointed with the service.
Had a table for 8 pm, showed at at 8.07 and was immediately sat down. We finally managed to get water and our orders taken at 9 pm. We ordered an appetiser and a main each, our main arrived at 10.05 pm. The waiter who brought us the wine didn’t even let us taste it, but powered it straight away. My friend had leftover cutlery from the appetiser and they didn’t bother to change them. There were literally 2 waitresses waiting on 20/25 tables. This is absurd considering the high prices. Not going back anytime soon. The food is nice but doesn’t justify any of the above. Stress on ‘nice’, not amazing.
Best Russian Restaurant in London by mile! Friday night music is superb!
This restaurant is simply great! The food is delicious with a modern twist on traditional Russian home made dishes. Very large and comprehensive menu in comparison to other restaurants around. The staff is friendly and aim to please and of course the decor is just spectacular - really gives you the insight into the old Russia. We particularly enjoy Friday night with live music upstairs. A keyboard guy and a beautiful young woman with a guitar have a fantastic repertoire from traditional gypsy Russian music to up to date Western hits! The whole restaurant was singing and dancing by the end of the night which was quite a spectacle to experience! Will be back for sure!
Be the first to ReplyOK, but not great
Very atmospheric restaurant in central location. Food was just a bit underwhelming unfortunately and slightly overpriced. Very good service though which we couldn’t fault.
Be the first to ReplyCute Russian place for a lovely meal!
We went as a party of 11 people. The food was lovely. I had Aubergine Caviar and Herring coat salad as a starter-that was delicious. I had baby potatoes and Pozarsky cutlets for main-was 10 out of 10. For dessert I ordered English Breakfast tea in a teapot with a slice of Napoleon cake. Cake was exceptional-soft, moist and just enough custard:-)
The only reason for me giving 4 stars out of 5 is that my tea was not very nice-very weak, either was not made with boiling water or not enough loose tea in it...just a small thing though.
Excellent Experience
We had a fantastic wedding lunch at Mari Vanna in November 2021! The restaurant had a very pleasant ambience, the food was very delicious and all the staff members made us feel very special with excellent service. Massive thanks to Natasha who has organised all preparation up to the highest standards and Vladimir who was looking after us all the evening and made the whole experience at Mari Vanna exquisite.
