Came in for the Wagu Shabu Shabu.
We had a reservation for the 2nd portion of the eveningOverall high quality meats, excellent for meat lovers. It was an experience. However the flavours were too mild for my palate.

Excellent! Loved the atmosphere, simplicity, and elegance of the small space. The food was excellent and the hostess pleasant and endearing.

I was really excited to try this place because I heard good things about it, but unfortunately, I did not enjoy this dining experience.I will start off by saying that the ingredients they used are top quality and I can tell they prepared each dish with a lot of care. However, after the first three bites of meat, I was already dreading the rest. The sauces they used were very light. I can taste a subtle initial flavor of yuzu or wasabi, but afterwards, the meat just takes over entirely. Usually that'd be great, but... it just felt boring..? Also, the meat was very buttery and filling that I literally felt like I would sink right into the ground. I think there needs to be some other accompaniments because it stopped being enjoyable very quickly. Also side note: as a soup lover, I thought I'd get to taste the broth or even have the soba noodles served with the broth. But, that wasn't part of the experience, which made me a bit disappointed.I think meat lovers and wagyu enthusiasts would like this place, but otherwise, it's not worth the hefty price tag in my opinion.
Be the first to ReplyFood was decent with many sauce.
The beef was good from Miyazaki. Uni wasn't too fresh. Wonton was very standard. The tea was $4 and there isn't a refilled. Seaweed wasn't crispy. The environment is good. Expect to spend $148 per person, plus tax and tip, you should expect to spend $200. I came as a party of 2 so total spending is $400
Be the first to ReplyOverall, I liked this restaurant, but I thought it was
Overall, I liked this restaurant, but I thought it was overpriced for what it is. The Omakase style for shabu shabu is an interesting approach, but, again, I am not sure the level of artistry was there to justify $145 per person. For example the Uni appetizer was a little one-note and needed a little brightness to balance it out. Same comment with the shabu shabu hand roll. The noodles at the end of the meal would have been better if served with a broth.

Date of Visit: 12/6/2022Shabushabu Mayumon is a fancy style of Japanese Shabu Shabu, with A5 Wagyu beef from Miyazaki and Washugyu, and also Pork Belly in different ways. At Shabushabu Mayumon, guests are seated at the counter, and can view waitress preparing and serving all different preparation of meat and veggies. The set is $148 per person with two time slots to choose from, 5:30pm or 8pm. The wine selection was limited, we got 2017 Alamos Mendoza $15 and Kiseki No Osake $20. There were a few starter dishes, including Scallop, Sashimaki Tamago, Yuba Uni, and Bagna Cauda. Love the second one with Japanese omelet in a clear and warm broth. The main course composed of 14 different shabu shabu, prepared in a slightly different way with different sauce. My favorites were the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Hand Roll, Pork belly with lettuce and tomato sauce, Mozzarella and Basil Wonton, and Washugyu with Karajiru sauce. There was also a soba noodle dish after the shabu shabu to wrap up, with slow roasted duck on the side. And the dessert was a hot tea paired with hojicha ice cream.

Food (1.5/2): Couldn't exactly recall all the dishes that were served but I can say they are delectable. I felt similarly to some other reviewer that thought the flavor profiles were mostly the same. Nevertheless, I still enjoy the flavor. As far as I can recall, the dishes mostly had a mellow, saltiness with a hint of sweetness (sake? mirin?) accompanied with occasional spike of citrus-freshness on some dishes. All in all, the food was enjoyable.Service/wait-time/cleanliness (1.5/2): The place is very small and only appear to seat roughly 5-7 maximum? To my understanding, it is also reservation-only. These factors led me to have high expectations and they delivered for the most part. Nevertheless, there were some moments where we had to wait longer than was expected for our next dish. Price (1/1): I think for the level of service the provide and the amount of dish you get, the price is worth it. Still, I do wish that they had more variety in their flavor as well as ingredients presented.

A great experience having shabushabu cooked and served one bite at a time. The beef melts in the mouth. High quality meat and yummy!!

Like the other review mention, service was great but it didn't have much variety. It felt repetitive after the 5th dish. I was expecting some fish or odd meat in between.. it's worth a try nonetheless

Updated review after hyun:This place is worth it even more because there's no feeling to eat your moneys worth in wagyu.
Be the first to ReplyBest shabu omakase in town.
Every bite was so delicious. The restaurant has a very private dining feel given the space. The "chefs" at the restaurant are super nice and somehow all beautiful. They cook each bite for you in front of you and are very descriptive on what the bite is before you consume it. Good quality meat and seasoning is always on point. Dinner is prix fixe at $148 pp - worth every dollar in my opinion for the experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good date night spot or even to entertain a friend or business partner.
Be the first to ReplyThis was our first wagyu beef omakase experience ever and I
This was our first wagyu beef omakase experience ever and I was really excited to show my friend all about it. The quality of the meat was definitely there and presented well, ย but if I had to be a harsh/picky critic, I'd rate the overall experience 6.5/10 only because it was not the most mind-blowing experience for my taste buds. Taking into consideration the $$$, I would have better recommendations for wagyu beef elsewhere. Even though the staff service was nice, which most elegant omakase places that need private reservations are. For starters, I know wagyu has different cuts and it would have been nice to experience and taste at least more than two cuts of wagyu, but every single dish used the same 2 wagyu grades/cut and it eventually got boring especially because most of the pieces were dipped/served in the same sauce on the side. Which I totally understand, respect and appreciate them trying to preserve as much of the natural flavor as possible, but...a couple dishes for customers to taste the all-natural taste is good enough I feel, the rest I expected to have much more of a twist than just that :/ I think it was under-whelming to say the least, and a wagyu BBQ experience like Hyun would have been much more worth my money and time spent. But understandably, Hyun is much much more expensive (but it is also semi-AYCE too!)
Be the first to ReplyVery unpleasure experience.
Waitress are rude and unprofessional. There are one hour remaining between two section. They were just keep telling you that you are fell behind and give you whatever they are finished. They don't care if you are ready for the next dish or not. Customer won't like to have a unpleasure meal for $200+.

Shabushabu Mayumon is a unique dining experience that's worth trying at least once - if you manage to land a reservation. There's 2 dinner services, with up to 3-4 parties of 2 at a time, so reservations are a must! But if you find yourself here, get ready for a premium shabushabu omakase experience. The tasting menu is $148 pre fixe per person (not including tax and tip), and consists of a total of 20 items. There's A5 miyazaki wagyu, washugyu, pork belly, and veggie options throughout the tasting menu, and each one is thoughtfully crafted to provide you with the perfect bite. Towards the beginning, the beef is enhanced with just simple sauces to allow you to appreciate the flavor of the beef. Throughout the dinner experience, different flavor combinations are introduced. The sauces here are to die for - the karajiru, ponzu, anchovy & garlic based sauce, and the freshly grated wasabi all complement the beef perfectly. One of the flavor combinations that surprised me the most was the blue cheese/fig/basil/balsamic soy. I'm not a blue cheese person BY ANY MEANS, but I'm so glad I tried it! And of course, I can't end this review without mentioning the hand rolls & the scallop appetizer - delicious!!! Highly recommend trying shabushabu mayumon! It's pricey, but definitely worth the intimate experience of having the chefs prepare the food in front of you. Mika really took care of us all night. Our water and sake glasses were never empty, and she explained each bite in detail. Our dining experience was so much better because we got to interact with her!
Be the first to ReplyHonestly, hard to justify the price.
The set consists of 4 appetizers and a series of A5 wagyu and washugyu pieces. Of the appetizers, only the scallop stood out. The tamago was good with a clear broth but nothing special. The yuba uni was odd, it didn't feel like the yuba and uni went well together - a mouthful of warm and cold. The bagna cauda -- easily like a crudite platter, nothing special. Onto the shabu shabu series, the A5 wagyu and washugyu all blended together at the end of the course. It was essentially bougie hotpot and everything kinda tasted the same, just a different combination of meat + sauce. The only pieces that stood out were the wonton mozzarella and the washugyu blue cheese but I wonder why they were part of the set, these flavors didn't match the overall vibe of the course. The soba noodles at the end, nothing special. The dessert was seasonal ice cream and it wasn't anything I've ever tried before with the dusting of miso and hojicha. Was it tasty? Yes. But was it worth the price? Hard to justify. Hard to believe the rest of these 5 star reviews were honest about their experience. But this was just my personal experience. Side note: We got a bottle of sake and they took it away at the end of the meal even though there was another glass left in the bottle. Not okay when we paid for the whole bottle. Maybe they didn't think we'd notice.

Unique concept - they use two types of meat and they make different combinations of foods with them both. I liked how they cook all the meat for you and provided to you in a bowl that lets the sauce through, giving each bite it's own flavor. You get just enough portions to be full, and the ice cream at the end is an excellent cherry on top.I thought that the Uni was overpowered by wasabi, which was very unfortunate.Great sake choices.

At the time of writing this review, the price per person is $148. With the prefix menu given, I honestly do not think it is worth that price at all. There's 4 appetizers: - Scallop: great flavors and fresh- Dashimaki Tamago: meh nothing crazy- Yuba Uni: flavors don't go well together in my opinion- Bagna Cauda: it's just veggies but the dip was anchovy and garlic based, not badShabu Shabu: there's 14 different types on the menu but it pretty much uses the same type of meat (A5 wagyu beef, Washugyu, Pork belly). There aren't much variety in this because after a while you'll notice that they're all pretty similar, it's just the sauce and toppings are different. My favorite, out of the 14, was the one with blue cheese and basil sauce.Housemade soba noodle was decent, still nothing crazy. The ice cream was a scoop of vanilla dusted with soy bean and miso powder, this was unique and it was pretty good.P.S. I paid for a full bottle of sake but the server took it away when there's still some left in there...I'm confused why they did that.Honestly, while it's definitely good, it is not worth the $148 pp. The experience was unique though, loved it.
Be the first to ReplyThis was far the best shabu shabu experience I've ever had.
The food's presentation was immaculate and you could really taste the effort and thought they put into every single dish. The first dish also came with a complementary sake pairing, which was a welcome surprise. The chefs did not skimp on the quantity nor the quality of food - I was quite full about 3/4 of the way through the set course, but of course powered through because each bite was just too delicious. ย My fiancรฉ and I had a wonderful time here and will definitely be back to celebrate our next special occasion. Thank you so much, Chefs Mika and Mayu!

If you want premium shabu shabu, DO make ressies at shabushabu Mayumon. It's more on the pricier side but worth every penny. They only seat 3 parties at a time & there's only 2 seatings a day when they're open. Make your ressies quick because there's a reason why they're always booked up!Shabu shabu, but do it omakase style. Wagyu & washugyu beef cooked perfectly soft & tender and topped with simple sauces to enhance the flavor. Don't worry, shabu shabu Mayumon also includes pork belly, enoki mushrooms & various veggies in the mix. And don't forget the few hand rolls included too. Oh yeah, that scallop was epic! Needless to say, dinner was amazing & delicious - no questions asked. This place is perfect for a celebration, but bring a very small group or your SO. The restaurant can only seat 12 people max so choose your company wisely!
Be the first to ReplyIf you love hot pot and bougie dining, shabushabu Mayumon
If you love hot pot and bougie dining, shabushabu Mayumon needs to be your next date night restaurant. Everything from the experience of watching your server/chef cook each meat in front of you to that first orgasmic bite makes you wonder, why the heck you have not dined here before. Note that they only have one option for omakase, but they will amend the menu based on dietary restrictions. For example, I have a shellfish allergy, and they subbed out ingredients like scallop and gave me tofu which had a similar texture. Every bite is curated to burst with flavors from the sauces they curate. Yeah, sorry, can't explain it. You gotta try it!Honestly, it's not fair to only give this restaurant 5/5 because this is by far the best meal I've ever had.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant ever since the worth it video made about it. It exceeded my expectations. There was 1 server dedicated to our party of 2, and one other party of 2. Her attention to detail and impeccable service left me very impressed. I don't think I will ever experience something quite like it again. Definitely worth eating at on a special occasion!
