Mercado Little Spain New York Reviews from The Last Year
I came here for a work event during the week.
The food was OK; I wasn't a fan of the paella but liked the grilled cheese sandwiches they brought. The drinks were really good and the service was great. It's a really lively atmosphere.
We just had an $8 carne empanada, which was excellent, but
We just had an $8 carne empanada, which was excellent, but the service at the kiosk was outstanding, very friendly and knowledgeable. Quite a contrast to the truly awful service I had at the last Jose Andres restaurant I'd eaten at, the Bazaar in DC. The cheap empanada was better than some of the food at the DC version of the Bazaar too (where the bill was over $200 per person). T But where Mercado Little Spain really stood out was the service the next day. As happens all too often (I can be absent minded), I left my Amex card at the empanada kiosk. From my experience at many other places, I expected that when I went back to ask about it, they would do a quick check in the cash register and if they didn't see it, I would a curt, "Nope, we don't have it, I'm sorry." That's not at all what happened. The young man working the register did first check the register and did not find it. But he didn't give up there. He went over to the large "lost and found" box and carefully worked through that piece by piece, but no luck. By now, he'd put in at least five minutes of work looking for the card, but he didn't give up. Instead, he said he wanted to check with his superior and walked over to another kiosk to find her. She said she remembered the card, came back over to the empanada kiosk, looked through the register, and then said, let me get my boss. Smiles the whole time, even though this was taking a lot of effort. The boss's boss said, well, maybe the night shift turned it in to security. She then took a photo of my ID and went up to the fifth floor to go through the process of getting the safe opened. This took probably 15-20 minutes but she returned with a big smile and with Amex card! This is not the kind of effort, care, and friendliness I expect from a big corporate place like Mercado Little Spain. Well done!
Food Court Featuring Spanish Cuisine
Mercado Little Spain located at Hudson Yards in the creation of renowned Chef Jose Andres. It is an indoor market/food court celebrating the food of Spain and is filled with a collection of food kiosks serving up a variety of items including paella, churros, tortillas de patatas (Spanish omelets) and patatas bravas(spicy fried potatoes) and many other items. There is also a couple bars and a coffee stand plus a couple full-service restaurants attached. The food we found was pretty good but nothing amazing. Additionally, the atmosphere inside was a bit sterile like eating in a modern shopping mall food court. Certainly, worth checking out if you are in the area but not so sure about the "all day destination" that it is advertised to be.
The croquettas were amazing - ordered another to go.
The callos was excellent, though small serving. Bread complemented it. But with rice would have been better. My son cleaned out the alondigas and rice. Disappointed there was no paella even though on website says so.
Came here for happy hour after work with some friends.
The setup with all the different shops was cute. We ordered the potatas bravos for ~$10, the octopus with potatoes ~$19, and the jamon y queso sandwhich ~$19 all from different shops. The happy hour drinks (sangria) were $6 each. Overall, very cute place but wish the food also had happy hour prices.
This place was awesome! Nice friendly smiley workers.
I like the ambience and the social aspect. I like that there are many options. All the food is reflective of Spain. I got a warm salad with chicken and rice and it was delicious. The sauce was so good.

I visited Mercado Little Spain with my kids after a walk on the High Line. We arrived in the late afternoon as the stalls were beginning to open (though some were still closed). We tried several items: patatas bravas and churros from Bravas, and a bocadillo de jamรณn y queso from Jamรณn & Queso. The food was amazing and very tasty, but the service left something to be desired. At some stalls, the staff just stared without saying anything, and I had to wait several minutes to order. Despite the service issues, I would like to return because the food was excellent.

Spanish Diner casa de comidas was a treat on a hot afternoon! Wine, beer and sandwiches were great
I'd give it 3.
5 stars. The food is a bit overpriced for what you get. Small portions should be cheaper or higher in quality. Even though Spaniards eat late they basically shut down after 9 pm. But Overall not bad.
Catastrophic food.
I'm from Spain and came here craving some food from home, and this ain't it. The tortilla espaรฑola had no flavour and it was runny. The croquetas super cheesy despite stating it was jamรณn ibรฉrico. simply an all around disappointment, will not be returning. If you like Americanised crap, enjoy, this is the place for you.
Always come for the happy hour at BarCelona.
. best sangria and beers! Also bartenders are super nice!
Great authentic Spanish food.
They have a wide range of dishes from various regions of Spain.
Absolute hidden gem in NYC.
As many people say, it's just like Eatly just the Spain version. Authentic Spain vibes exude throughout the food hall. So many options of vendors to choose from. Next time will go with an empty stomach!
Wonderful lunch & the sangria w/gin & vermouth did not
Wonderful lunch & the sangria w/gin & vermouth did not disappoint!! Service was also exceptional. Will definitely be back!!
nice idea, but
the place is maybe victim of its own success. incredibly crowded and noisy . service debatable . food medium. maybe the mistake was to come on saturdays . will struggle to be back due to noise crowd and no speical food

I was so excited to try mercado little Spain, as I have enjoyed many Jose Andres restaurants and I generally love the market hall concept. Pluses: happy hour until 8p on Thursdays- the $6 sangria was delicious. We also had delightful patatas bravas from la brava and a to die for tortilla from another kiosk. The Tortilla was creamy on the inside and was encased in a thin scrambled egg. We also sat down at the Spanish diner and I loved the white Anchovies there. Great ambiance at Spanish diner Minuses- horrible service at all three restaurants we sat at. The mercado isn't really what I expected in terms of layout. It's less market hall where you go with a bunch of friends, find a table and go pick up items from various kiosks. It's more suited to choose one restaurant and sit down and eat from that menu. I'm glad I tried it and I would consider coming back given my knowledge about the structure.

After leaving the diner, strategically placed closer to the outer entrance so you may stop there instead of experiencing the deliciousness of the market behind it, we decided on Jamon y queso. Lots of options from high to low end, as well as vegetarian and pescatarian offerings. We were there around noon, so everything wasn't open. But the space seemed clean, there was ample seating and many food options. I thought the prices were reasonable. Worth a visit.
Mercado Little Spain is a dining destination in Hudson
Mercado Little Spain is a dining destination in Hudson Yards by Chef Josรฉ Andrรฉs. It's a multi-concept space complete with restaurants, kiosks, bars, and shops! My friends and I tried out three of their kiosks. Starting with the fresh salads and bowls at Lola's Greens, my favorite was the pisto bowl, with its comforting warm veggie stew that perfectly complemented the other ingredients in the bowl. At the Burgers & Bikinis kiosks, I learned that the bikinis in question refer to yummy grilled sandwiches. The burgers though were truly in a league of their own! Lastly, of course there's always room for dessert. It was so tough to choose a favorite from Que Sweet, but I have to go with the Spanish chocolate soft serve ice cream in an amazing cone-shaped pastry that's like a croissant-churro hybrid. Everything at the kiosks was pretty affordable! This is a great place to take your friends, family, or coworkers.

The restaurant Spanish Diner is nested behind the bars and kiosks at Mercado Little Spain. We ordered the huevos rotos with mixto (included the chistorra, morcilla and jamรณn), which featured sunny side eggs and a mixture of meats, croquettes and fried eggplant. Both the food and service were excellent.
Mistake at Hudson Yards
Ovepriced spanish food with bad service. Paying 180โฌ+20% expected tip for 1/4 of potato pie, pimentos, some iberico and 2 really poor stews is robery.
Happiest of happy hour in Manhattan
Wow this place is so cool! Tapas, sweets burgers, cocktails, bar food, fancy restaurants it's got the lot! If you're walking the high line this is a must stop especially for happy hour!
Amazing
Had this restaurant on my list for at least a year. The food was great and it lived up to expectation. The churros and chocolate were amazing. Service was great as well.
Confusing and so overpriced you'd think you were at Disney World
A confusing mash-up of overpriced food stations/kiosks in an effort at bringing "Brand Spain" food and drink to a space that's more reminiscent of a gaudy hotel lobby than a local bar/cafรฉ in Spain. Food station/kiosk set-up is scatterbrained. Three bars - a coffee bar, a cocktail bar, and a wine bar - but you have to get a sandwich at one kiosk and your drink at another? And where can you have your sandwich and drink? In one of the seating areas and, if so, which one are you allowed to sit in? Who knows. And there's a burger kiosk? A Spanish. . .burger. . .kiosk? Why? Because Spain is known for its burgers? And it also has "bikinis"? Ah, pressed sandwiches. Got it. A Barcelona thing. When in NYC, pretend your customers are from Barcelona. International Marketing 101. . . Prices are high for what you get. $28 for a tortilla Espaรฑola and almost $10 for an 8 oz. beer? Insulting, even by NYC standards. Gouging midtown tourists. If this schtick keeps up it won't be long before the space is converted into an Olive Garden. If you're looking for authentic Spanish food at a reasonable price (and less superiority complex and less side-eye from the staff), look elsewhere.
May want to skip this one
Went with family and honestly was disappointing. In addition, I am pretty sure I got sick from their cod fish. Having stomach flu or whatever i have is not fun on a trip. It is possible it was not from their restaurant, hard to know but the cod fish was a bit undercooked and not sure if it was the cause having contamination.. Food is a bit overproced as dishes are very small. The service was decent and they had lots of smiles but they forgot about one of our fishes. The meatballs with fried potatoes was not bad. Overall, family did not like it, it was our least favorite place to eat on our trip, but had nice decor.
New place woth good food and wine
Very good wine and atmosphere, service still have to grow. Wednesday was a happy hour day, we paid 50% for wine
Very bad treatment with a health crisis for food allergy
I went to Little Spain last week and had an inconvenient that the restaurant manage not well at all. Last wednesday I spend 6 hours in the ER. I ate shrimps and other plates and was soooo sick suddenly and the personel act just cold and distant. Cynthia the supervisor was "just in charge"... she was just profesional, but cold, no showing any emotiions or humanity for a client, a turist, that was along with an 11 years old kid, that came to your place to spend money. Cynthia was in the begining more preocupied to assure I pay my check. I ate shrimp the monday before and have no problem. Never in the past happened to me. Since I ate them notice a flavor kind of "bad" but thought "maybe they just not cooked as I preffered"... or Also I thought was the chili"... but no. Im dont want and dont ever to talk like this but need: I had money, credit cards, cash. No need to go to eat for free. I had money to pay. I felt so bad with the treatment I recieved. Is not about even the food poisoning, they dont have any protocol to manage crisis. Some of the waiters just laugh and was murmurin between them. Just Cinthia was assuming a position, but as I mentioned, first assuring that I pay before 911 arrives... an acting 'just enough profesional". Look like a robot with predicted answers and actions. So dissapointed. Attached the pictures of this nightmare. Shame on them. Just for an 80 dollars check... not everyone are interested in fake an allergy and almost die for not pay a check... for god!... The staff, only a young and kind hostess was so bad an rude. Need to note Hudson Yards health team was great and act quick befores 911 arrives. Shame on Little Spain!
