Merriman's Kapalua Lahaina Reviews from The Last Year
Food amazing.
Rib Eye and Filet for us both super tasty and tender Service Ed amazing thank you Lauren J. Ambiance, please it sits on a point between Kapalua and Napili bays, it's amazing. Will be back for sure
Loved the ambience and the food was amazing.
The Cesar salad was the best I have ever had. Perfect start to the Poke. Our waiter Josh was very friendly and made sure we were always taken care of at all times. We will definitely return this week!
We have been to Merriman's several times over the years
We have been to Merriman's several times over the years when visiting Maui so we were pleased to book a table this time around. In the past we like the selections and the quality of the food and the service. This time around we were not that impressed. The staff are excellent, well trained. I appreciated the complementary parking assistance when you arrive as parking has always been very tight. Our table was near the back and away from the windows that did not appeal to us but we did not insist on a change although there were tables elsewhere. The food selections have moved to more of an Asian fusion style that truthfully is not our thing. We order drinks, my guests wanted a Pina Colada as they have had great ones in the past but were surprised to learn that their version is not done with a blender, only over ice which was disappointing. They said they don't have any blenders! The salads were fresh as was the bread. The main selections were expensive (as you would expect) and we each ordered a different dish that was mostly built around seafood. The seafood was good as was the sauces they were cooked in.. The portions were somewhat small but if you like presentation, the dishes were impressive. We were offered deserts but declined. While there was nothing wrong with the food, for the money, we were frankly expecting more so we were disappointed. I doubt we will go again in future.
I have very mixed emotions about this place.
I cannot give a place 5 stars when I spend $200 and walk away hungry. Service is good, although a bit slow at times. But I believe they are a bit short handed. Whatever. If you have to ask how expensive it is, go elsewhere. Ya, very expensive. The portions are small not unlike similar places anywhere. Everything is very good. Beautiful design inside and in the exterior seating area. Also it is one of the most beautiful settings anywhere in the world. Yes, you need a reservation, even for the bar. Also, be warned you can't self park, Valet only. Another cost. We have been to the Kauai location and it was different, slight less expensive and not as spectacular.
Incredible views and amazing service! The food was also
Incredible views and amazing service! The food was also excellent. As for drinks, I recommend the black manhattan. It was exceptional. Our family of 6 was very impressed. We will definitely be back.
If you can get a table you have to try this place.
Beautiful patio over looking the ocean. Amazing food and the service is top knotch.
View check.
Absolutely amazing. Lower bar is awesome. Fun vibe not stuffy. We were given an excellent table in the main dining right on the glass. Great sunset experience. Service check. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Smiles everywhere you looked. People seem to be genuinely happy to be working here. Food, almost. The quality of the food was good, but seems over engineered with very rich sauces that drowned the flavor and freshness of the food. Had the lamb and my wife had the fish special. We both looked at each other after with that look, "so close". Overall I would recommend a visit for service and ambiance alone.
Excellent food quality, service and ambiance.
Our server, Leah, was wonderful and provided excellent suggestions and was very friendly. I had the catch of the day which was small portions of red snapper, one shrimp, and octopus along with Bok Choi. Very tasty but not enough if it given the $72 price tag. Luckily my wife had diver scallops and gave me some of her dinner. We had an excellent the kapoho papaya salad and kalula pork and sweet onion quesadillas as an app. The salad was especially awesome. DO NOT MISS out on having the bread pudding. The bread pudding by itself is reason enough to go to Merriman's. You won't be disappointed. The music performance by a good singer/ guitarist ( Joshua) adds to the ambience. One of my favorite restaurants on Maui, along with Dukes and Mamas Fish House.
We came to Merriman's to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
The location, service, and food was out of this world! Let's start with the location. Located on the Kapalua side of Maui on a point overlooking the water. The restaurant requires reservations but there is an outside area on the point that offers bar bites and drinks. It's first come first serve. Since it was our anniversary we made reservations in advance. Our reservations were at 4:30pm, which didn't give us a table right by the sea side, but the view was still amazing. Once we were seated we were greeted by our waitress Tiffany. She greeted us with Prosecco and acknowledged our anniversary. Such a special way to start the evening. Post sparking wine, we both enjoyed the Merriman's mai tai. The lilikoi foam with egg whites is amazing! Our meal was over the top and I loved every part of it. Our evening stated with an amuse bouche of mushroom soup and homemade bread. We stared with an appetizer which was out of this world. If you like octopus, you have to get the tako l'escargot. Buttery, herb goodness. Pure amazing! For dinner, I ordered the nightly fish special which came with three proteins (all seafood) and a tom kha base. The flavors were so amazing! My husband ordered the red snapper, which was 1.5 lbs! It was giant! Normally for 2 individuals, but he tackled it by himself. I tried a handful of bites. I could have shared it with him. For dessert, we got the chocolate purse which was the gooey ness of a lava cake wrapped in phyllo dough with vanilla ice cream. My love language! To top it off, I enjoyed an espresso martini with dessert. Dinner was beyond amazing along with the service we received all night long.
Fantastic food.
Great service. We will come again. Great views. Valet parking. Specialty fish was delicious
Hostess not with the mostest
We have been to Merriman’s multiple times and make it a point to go whenever we are on Maui. Most of the staff is friendly and great but the kiwi at the check-in desk was rude on multiple engagements with her. The menu while we were there was pretty limited and a little odd, especially the starters. But the food we had was great. Just the hostess was so rude. It kind of ruined the whole evening.
Not worth it
When I made the reservations for Valentine’s Day, I was not informed that it would be a fixed menu ( and at $150 a person!). Which would’ve been OK if it was Phenomenal like other places. It was not. Scallops were no better than an average restaurant. The Valentines dessert was wonderful. The staff was great. But overall really, really not worth the money.
Pleasant dinner but overpriced for portion size.
Lovely setting. Good service. Liked touch of amuse bouche, warm bread and dipping sauce. Overpriced for amount of food at a high end Maui restaurant. White rice, salad and small piece of grilled fish = $72.00. Caesar salad overdressed and limp. Ahi entree good/delicious. Quite noisy with guitarist playing (turn down the amps!). Otherwise a pleasant time
Wow
This is a hidden gem. It was hard to get reservations so maybe not so hidden, but if you can get in, it is a must. Service outstanding. Scallops amazing, beautiful setting. We celebrated our 20 wedding anniversary and it was very romantic.
Most excellent in every way
Dinner with another couple and hadn't been here in quite a while. Food was excellent so was the sevice and great view. Will be back soon
That Maui Sunset …
Dinner at Merriman’s was magical — our last night in Maui for our anniversary. We had the best table* to watch the sunset, a champagne toast on the house to celebrate & a great server who let us take our time and savor the evening. The Merriman’s Mai Thais were so good, but STRONG. The meal was several courses, price fixe ($120 pp) and very tasty. One of our appetizers was sort of a clunker though (shrimp/taro potstickers). Maybe they were just testing it out that night b/c I don’t think it made it to the current menu. The fried green tomato croutons on the salad were so creative & delicious. What was most memorable about the evening was the sunset. That’s the wow factor at Merriman’s. *Though everything turned out great, we truly had to put in some work to get a good table. We started out at the worst table in the house and were pretty disappointed. I almost wanted to leave. Instead, we said we would wait for a better table to open. We waited a good long time, but I’m so glad that we did!
Simply amazing
Absolutely standing. The menu, service, drink & wine list and over all experience is simply a 10/10. Eric and the team provided an exceptional culinary experience. And beyond the service team is a culinary team that provide an exemplary meal on multiple levels. Amuse-bouche through dessert. Do not miss out!! And the views ….
Delicious food, beautiful ambiance, excellent service
Ate here a few nights ago and loved everything about it - service (Miguel), food, and ambiance were fantastic! We were seated on the lanai which was beautiful and allowed us to converse. Our server Miguel quickly memorized our names and addressed us by them - impressive. The food was delicious! Altogether a wonderful evening!
Wonderful, yet expensive. Worth a trip.
This is a wonderful culinary experience. The server, Eric, was funny and professional. Everyone was fantastic. We sat in the back, so not the best location in the restaurant. Also not an intimate restaurant as it is very busy. We had one salad, 2 entrees, 1 glass of wine, 1 dessert between 2 diners. Bill was $260. So this place costs money. However, probably the best scallops I have eaten, perfectly cooked. Also we had the Ahi, which was delicious. The bread pudding dessert was just ok (not worth the $24). Delicious salad. We go here every time we are in Hawaii, knowing it is expensive, but a great dining experience.
Highly Recommend Merriman’s!
We chose Merriman’s as the place for a special dinner on our last night in Maui, to celebrate our trip. We had high hopes, and it certainly did not disappoint. Beautiful setting, excellent service, and the food was great. We wish we had gotten there earlier and had a drink out on the outside patio before dinner, as the views were fabulous. We will certainly do that next time. Our waiter Serkio (sp.?) was excellent, as well as all the rest of the wait staff. That will continue to be our special occasion restaurant on Maui. It was wonderful!
Delicious and the sunset was unbeatable!
Our party of 4 was seated quickly inside, but we could still see the sun make a slow descent as we tried the delectable Pork (flauta-like dish) and insanely cool Chocolate Purse for dessert!

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
