We've been going to this place for a few years now, and love it every time. Mesa Coyoacan is all about its Chiles Enogada. A true Mexican delicacy that's hard to find in the city. Accompany that with a really great cocktail and you're set! The other food on the menu is also great, but for me, the Chile is what really stands out!

This place is absolutely incredible! The experience from start to finish was amazinggggg. We went for my friend's birthday and they sat us immediately when we got there. The space is so stunning how they have it setup. The decor is funky and the vibes are just so good. The music had us dancing all night long!We got drinks and they were affordable and so delicious. We then went into the appetizers where we got the esquites and guacamole. They were both so fresh and tasty. We then went into our mains and the portions were so good for the price. I got the chicken mole and it was so velvety. It paired perfectly with the sauces they give for the tacos so pro tip: make sure you ask for them on the sides! The rice and plantains were done fantastically as well! We ended with the churros and they were so tasty, definitely a must try. 10/10

A step above in terms of types of food combos on the menu. Good service too.

I've come here multiple times in the span of a few weeks because I fell in love with it. The enchiladas verdes was my favorite dish, I was afraid I wouldn't like everything being covered in so much sauce but it wasn't overwhelming and it complemented the food very well! The service and vibes are also great

Very chill ambience. Everything ordered was a 10/10. Highly recommend! Do yourself a favor and get the Enchiladas Verdes!

Great food without emptying your wallet like most Williamsburg places. A little dark inside but overall really great experience!

Loved this place! The vibes were super chill and there is lots of outdoor seating. The menu had lots of options. I ordered Camarones al Ajillo and thought they were sooo good. The portion was a good size and even came with the shrimp heads. The shrimp was super flavorful. They also had lots of drink options which I didn't try but would love to return to try out! We'll definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyTop notch Mexican food.
Excellent. The margaritas were also great, and they even accommodated a request to make one weaker and one stronger without extra charge. Both dinner entrees were awesome. Will definitely go again.

this place is only good for white people who wanna feel cultural and cute. the pozole had no soul, it was unseasoned, i bet canned soup has more flavor than what ever the fuck this was. i also had really high hopes for $10 esquites, but i got soupy canned corn.... that should not be $10. im actually from coyoacรกn, this place is a joke and should be called mesa gringa.

Bienvenidos a la mesa de chef Ivan Garcia! I knew fate meant for me to eat at this neighborhood gem when I saw the framed image of Frida Khalo and Diego Rivera above my dining companion's head. Santa Frida siempre cuida!Every aspect of the meal was on point punctuated by our server's 5 star level of attentiveness. He noticed the one corn tortilla left in our basket before we did, offered me another Reposado as I placed my glass down from taking a final sip of my first, and innocuously removed what wasn't needed from our table top as our conversation seamlessly continued. Must try dishes are the Hongos y Huitlacoche Tacos and the Ceviche de Pulpo; however, Chef Ivan's Pollo con Mole Poblano is EPIC! I would literally dip everything in this mole, including myself, if I knew how to make it at home. Between the licks of mole and glimpses of Frida, I fell into a Coyoacรกn-itis. My next visit can't come soon enough.

I ordered takeout and was so pleasantly surprised with how delicious, flavorful, and unique this spot was. The tacos were the biggest hit of the night. The Cochinita Pibil tacos were absolutely delicious- spicy, flavorful, and surprising. The pulpo y chorizo tacos were also incredible- such a unique combination and it actually worked perfectly. I also enjoyed the tamales as a starter. The mole in the pollo con mole poblano was very good, but I didn't love the plantain/chicken combination. But that's just personal preference. This spot was wonderful, delicious, and made for a fun meal at home. I can't wait to go in person!

I came here one night after missing dinner with friends but still wanting to go out. I'd previously been here on a date in the summer during the prime of NYC outdoor dining and remembered really enjoying the food. We sat inside, which was a lot cozier then i remembered, granted, I only came inside previously to use the rest room. Ok, so a small space but very accommodating. The server sat us at a large table that is for groups but told us we could share the space. It felt very communal, and frankly i don't mind. We ordered, the cactus, corn, ceviche and guacamole for apps. My cousin had the steak and i had the garlic shrimp for dinner. For drinks we had premium margaritas. As far as drinks, they really only do Margaritas and wine so if your looking for a wide range of cocktails this may not be for you. I enjoyed my Margaritas ( i had two), although i prefer them without OJ this was still pretty good. I was really excited to try the cactus app. As far as texture it's truly just an experience you have to try for yourself if you've never had. I didn't hate it but i also didn't love it. They no longer carry the octopus ceviche i fell in love with so we had to settle for the shrimp, which is ok. Honestly once the server told me it was made with ketchup i could no longer enjoy (i despise ketchup lol) we loved the corn appetizer and guac and chips could never go wrong! Lastly we really enjoyed the mains. The garlic shrimp was really tasty. The beans they give you kind of remind me of refried beans you get on baked goods when your in Central America except they are black beans. I remember being really cold and wearing my jacket the entire dinner, as we were sitting pretty close to the door. They have curtains but they were tied up so the air just kept bustling in. A staff member who i would guess was a manager asked me if i was ok and i told him i was cold. He apologized but kind of was giving me the impression he couldn't do anything about it, but i noticed he did close one of the curtains which was really kind. Ill more then likely be back

I ordered the enchiladas verdes with chicken and the tres leches cake. Wasn't impressed with either dish. The enchiladas sauce was very good! The only saving grace for the dish unfortunately. The chicken filling was just shredded chicken, without any seasoning or flavoring which was pretty underwhelming. The tres leches cake also wasn't great. I didn't really enjoy the fruit filling and the fruits used to top the cake were also not fresh, there was signs of rotting on the fruit. :/Overall, had hopes for the restaurant but was disappointed. Probably won't make my way back here.

Most of those who venture to Williamsburg hop off the L at Bedford and never look back. However, if you've been looking for a trendy yet authentic cantina to consume delicious yet strong margaritas and overstuffed yet affordable tacos at, you may want to hop off at Graham instead. We chose to eat out on a miserably freezing night. The only deciding factor was walking distance so expectations were low. It may have been due to the temperature, but on this Taco Tuesday, we were seated right away.We started off our meal, as one should, with drinks. I ordered their CLASSIC MARGARITA ($14): appropriately strong and so refreshing, with their use of freshly-squeezed lime and orange juice. He ordered their PALOMA ($14): it was equally refreshing, with freshly-squeezed grapefruit!Actions speak louder than words-- another round of these silver tequila drinks followed. Now, food:Chips and guac is a comfortable choice, but we decided to spice up our appetizer repertoire with NOPAL ASADO ($9): grilled cactus topped with stringy Oaxacan cheese with a creamy poblano pepper sauce ladled on. The grilled cactus was so smoky in flavor and succulent....(haha), I would definitely recommend trying it!We ordered two mains: PULPO Y CHORIZO TACOS ($16): Comes in 3, overstuffed with sautรฉed octopus, chorizo, and cubed potatoes, delivered in a cactus tortilla and topped with avocado salsa. The octopus was smoky and tender, which was nicely complemented by the savory chorizo bits. I really enjoyed the shift in texture when I got in bites of the crispy potatoes. These were some of the most unique tacos I've tried! POLLO CON MOLE POBLANO ($23): Roasted chicken, plantains, and rice were slathered with this traditional gravy. The mole was very rich and earthy-- perfect for the cold weather. The chicken meat was so tender; it didn't take much to fall off the bone! If you are craving authentic, rustic Mexican cuisine and are in the area, I would give Mesa Coyoacan a try! The price is not cheap, but also not unreasonable. Everything on the dinner menu is below $30, with appetizers and tacos within $10-$20 and the plates falling in the upper range. The cocktails range from $14-$16.

Ambience was a bit dark for my like but was def feeling the 90s music that they were playing. Was very disappointed w the esquites as it was soupy; I've had way better esquites.Chicken Tamale were bland; street tamales are better according to my friend. Fish tamales weren't bad. Chicken poblano didn't look appealing and the maduros were super dry. Fish tacos was mediocre and lacked flavor. Enchiladas Rojas was not spicy at all despite stating so in the menu. Keep in mind I'm an ethnic person. I must say the desserts were much for flavorful than the apps/entrees. Another thing that came to our attention was the food came out very quick and didn't taste fresh. Lastly, we felt very rushed. Thankfully, our waiter was excellent! This is a spot to come and chill but not for food, sadly.

Pretty average Mexican food in a relatively out of the way location. Right off the L train, it's a solid food option in East Williamsburg with ample outdoor seating on a Saturday night at 7 PM. Service was pretty spotty and food was as expected, but this is not somewhere I would go out of my way to try again, unfortunately. If you dine here, I would try the chicken mole entree.
Be the first to ReplyFood is decent.
Definitely try their pulpo tacos and their mole. Service is a bit spotty and slow depending on the day.

It was easy to grab a table for lunch, prices were very fair, and the food was great. Would go back just for the cactus appetizer if I could.

Fabulous find! We were looking for something walking distance to our hotel & wow did we luck out! Being from California we really know our Mexican food & this was the real deal. Upscale menu with interesting choices. Hubby had the steak tacos & I had the spiced shrimp & both were chock full of delicious fresh ingredients & flavor. The shrimp were huge & succulent, seasoned perfectly. To my delight, they had removed the tails which made eating them less messy. We were super impressed with the attention we received from all 3 servers. Highly recommend when in Brooklyn!
