We've been waiting for a long time to try this place! Oh boy, I so regret waiting that long. The outdoor/indoor vibe is fitting for Miami Design District. The food is beyond amazing! We started with the lamb and eggplant with zaatar pita, that was by far some of the best dishes I've had in my life, just divine! The tin sardines were very closed second to the lamb dish. We also had braised daikon, it was well put together dish for a vegetable. Then comes the burger, yes the famous burger! It was cooked to perfection and meat to bun ratio was just write. Ah I just can't wait to be back and try all other dishes. Service was outstanding and very thoughtful. One suggestion: a must make reservations ahead of time, esp on the weekends. We were glad we booked ahead as I saw so many folks turned away.

Brilliant spin on every dish, big flavors and healthy eclectic choices employing high quality seasonal yummy foo. Larger groups can enjoy different small plates and numerous sides as an introduction to the main event. Solid bar scene with a good vibe that transitions as the evening progresses delivers something for most. Try the new Uni sandwich- pic below

The food is pretty good but the prices far too high for what you get, and I mean the quality. I don't mind paying more if it is top notch. The service was good and they have some nice drink options.

My friend and I came to this restaurant because we heard great things from another friend who also happened to be named Micheal. He told us how chill the vibe was and the people and staff are nice and good energy around. We popped in for a drink and then a small plate, just something to pick at. The plates coming out look nice, will be coming back to try the food.

Food and drinks were fabulous, location and ambiance very cool, service was a bit slow. Worth trying out!

I would have given this restaurant 5 stars but I left very upset that a belligerent table of 4 seated next to me wasn't asked to leave immediately. They caused a scene yelling that their table "wasn't good enough" which, frankly, was somewhat insulting to everyone sitting in a section that was apparently beneath these rude people to sit in. The manager should have asked them to leave or comped the meals of those of us who had to deal with their bizarre entitlement.Aside from this, the food was very good and faster than most McDonald's. Perhaps too fast as they served my entree within two minutes of ordering it (questionable). It was, however, very good. The espresso martini was the highlight of the meal (aside from the Jerry Springer show I had to endure next to me).If I lived in Miami I probably come back more for a lunch while mid-day shopping. It seemed a bit fast casual for my dinner preferences. That is, assuming the patrons I sat next to are not a common experience.
Be the first to ReplyIn the mood for a unique brunch.
MGFD indulges you with delicious and not so traditional dishes. Seasonal flavors and one of the best bloody mary's in South Florida ( kimchi bloody Mary's), the exceptional chicken liver. A must if you are looking for something different but so tasty. Always packed but with a top of the line service. A nice gem in the design district
Be the first to ReplyGreat outdoor atmosphere and good food.
Salads burgers and pizzas for lunch. The octopus was the best.

Great restaurant! Superb service! Came for a birthday brunch which ended with the manager giving us free tequila! Had the oysters and croque madame which was top notch. I'll definitely be coming back!

I was not excited to eat here due to a negative experience I had in the past, but this is the perfect example of why one must give restaurants more than one opportunity. This time, my experience was very satisfying. At least if you're in the mood for some "tapas".The pig ears were perfectly crispy and satisfying to have on the side of some drinks. They also had foie gra in more of a pate style that was phenomenal! 10/10.The spiced lamb and charred eggplant was soo delish too. Very interesting flavors happening, although more of the pita would've been appreciated. The country pate was good but a bit underwhelming compared to other things we ordered. The star of the meal and what I will be dreaming about for days was the uni and caviar sandwich. WOW! This dish was so bomb! Very expensive as one can expect with the ingredients being used but well worth it in my opinion. The vibes were right, and the service was very attentive.
Be the first to ReplyHits and misses.
Stone crab with 2 sauces was very good as well as a salad with almond, olives and Calabrian chilies. Wood grilled green beans which have been wonderful in the past were undercooked and we only ate half and decided they were not worth eating. Sauteed baby bok choy with umami butter was ok but tasted like there was strong alcohol like ouzo added and it did not compliment the dish. Flounder en papillote with tarragon caper butter was high quality fish and tender but needed more caper butter because I did not taste any. Wood roasted eggplant with squash and onions was prepared well and the eggplant was creamy and flavorful which is an accomplishment because most resaurants do a bad job with eggplant and it is often rubbery. Service was excellent and we enjoyed dining outside.
Be the first to ReplyMichaels Genuine Michael's genuine located in the design
Michaels Genuine Michael's genuine located in the design district here in Miami is definitely a place to check out. They have a variety of delicious and tasty meals from healthy to not so healthy. However, anything that you get will literally be a blast in your mouth. I had the short ribs hash, which came with a delicious sauce that really brought the plate together. The octopus taquitos were literally one of the best tacos I've ever had, which came paired with some guacamole... Now who doesn't love that. Overall, I gave this establishment a 10 out of 10 for its good food and amazing service .

Obviously the original and still the best restaurant in the Design District. Michael Schwartz is so talented and such a great chef and entrepreneur.

I use to love Michael's about 10 years ago when the Miami food scene was different but lately it leaves a lot to be desired. Today we spent c$1000 for brunch for a party of 6. Sadly the seafood tower for two was sparse and the other entrees weren't stellar. I'd give it a one star but I've been coming here for so many years that I can't let the amazing years erase today's mediocrity.
Be the first to ReplySuper nice place in Design District with a great service
Super nice place in Design District with a great service and food!!! I do recommend to make a reservation, since it was very busy. We sat outside and really enjoyed the whole concept! The restaurant was having a 15 year anniversary, so we got a complimentary champagne and a really knowledgeable service! Since the restaurant was packed I thought it will be noisy, but not at all, we had so much fun !!!! I have to say the food was really good starting from a warm bread all the way through the dessert and the portions are good. Will be definitely back !!! I highly recommend it!
Be the first to ReplyBusy design district restaurant serving mainly American
Busy design district restaurant serving mainly American style dishes (but elevated!) makes this gem a "can't miss spot"! If you are lucky, grab an outdoor table-great people watching in Miami's upscale shopping district. Steaks, fish, pizza, pasta and chicken dishes with an upscale flair to go with the surrounding environment. My favorite pastrami sandwich in Miami. There will be subsequent return visits!!
Be the first to ReplyThis place had wonderful food.
No longer the case since expansion. Overpriced tasteless food, food with no love. Corporate food. Will never come back.
Be the first to ReplyAlways a great time at any Genuine Hospitality restaurant!
Always a great time at any Genuine Hospitality restaurant! I had the pleasure of attending the 15 Year Friends & Family event this week. I have been to MGFD many times, but this night was very special. We were first greeted with a choice of cocktails or bubbly, I went with the Spicy Watermelon Margarita. Let me tell you, it was spicyyyyy ! I'm a fan of spice, but I could not handle it so I exchanged it for a bulletproof Manhattan. That was more my style, very smooth. Next we had some passed apps, such as their truffle pizza which was amazing! Then shortly after we were seated for dinner. For firsts, there was marinated beets with walnuts, blue cheese, next was chives kefta & charred eggplant pickled onion, herbs, & house pita and finally the Vito's stracciatella with heirloom tomato, basil extra virgin olive oil & sea salt. My favorite was the stracciatella, delicious and fresh! For the Mains, There was whole roasted Poult Rouge chicken toasted pine nuts with plumped golden raisins, arugula. The chicken was very juicy and pleasantly flavored with the slight sweetness of the raisins! Next, he green curry cobia, with sun shrimp, beansprouts, rice, crispy onions. Wow this was a killer dish! And lastly, the slow roasted & grilled short rib with charred cipollini onion, cress, romesco sauce, & crushed smoked almonds. The short rib was so tender and I loved the Smokey almond finish. I was so full, but we got to try the Florida Berry Cobbler and it was light, comforting and not too sweet. Thank you for a beautiful evening!
Be the first to ReplyWe found the meal very expensive and not well thought out.
The wait for the entrees was over an hour, we almost left. The food was ok, for the price, but missing a vegetable component and a salad component, aside from some carrots and asparagus. Would not go back.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous lunch and fantastic service.
The falafel platter was the perfect meal and the portion was generous. Oysters were great and wines by the glass in three size options is so smart.

This place never disappoints! It was packed on a Saturday night so we headed to the bar. Service there was very good - excellent waiters. The menu is very interesting. Our favorites were the black rice, the escargot and the pork belly. Their sommelier recommended an amazing Shiraz. The only disappointment was the cheese for dessert, it was not as flavorful as expected and they served a extremely small portion. But our server removed it from our bill. We found lots of interesting people to talk to, Chef José Andres walked in - my hero! Great food, good music, nice vibe and excellent service. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere.
You can eat outside too. I sat at the bar and the oysters were great. So was their craft fountain drinks. Decent prices for the design district. Bartender was friendly and good. Definitely will go again.

everything we ordered was delicious (cauliflower, octopus, brussel sprouts). the food was so amazing that we came back the next day and it was equally as good. atmosphere is also beautiful and the new renovations look great. hands down best food in the design district.
Be the first to ReplyEven at 2:30 p.
m., this restaurant was jammed to the rafters, but the hostess, our servers and the kitchen all maintained a professional, friendly and efficient level of service. Even better, the food was consistently excellent. The ceviche was the best I've ever had anywhere. And literally every other dish we tried (we ordered 7 or 8 small dishes among the two of us) was equally good. An impressive performance, and a very enjoyable lunch.
