Chili with Nutmeg
Had to try it since that's what you do in Cincinnati. It's definitely not a Texas kinda chili. Has nutmeg or something in it. The waiter was great tho!

Excellent Chili. This was our 1st time having Cincinatti style chili. It certainly was different than what we make it at home but we throuhgly enjoyed it. We all had chili dogs (none of the four of us opted for the chili over pasta) and french fries. Service was very good and fast. Very affordable for a good bowl of chili or any way you like to have it!.

The best skyline in Cincinnati! Great late night vibes and always enjoyable. Tastes delicious every time..
Be the first to ReplyBest skyline location in cincinnati
I eat skyline in many different locations around town and the ludlow ave location is the best. Not sure why that is maybe because the other locations are franchised. The favor of chili is fresh, authentic to my memory 38years ago when in college, cheese fresh w/ flavor, hot sauce more flavor than in take home packets. Coney can taste all the flavors, mustard, onion etc. Thank you Ludlow ave location for keepin' it skyline real! Michele

I used to live in ludlow area while attending college and skyline chili was a place I frequented often mainly during dinner or after a night of clubbing - they open late.
I recently returned to visit the area after 20+ years. First, the restaurant remains in the same location with same lay out but improved - they change the color of their decor to a modern neutral look. They still have one round table towards the back (same spot as 20 years ago). The staff was friendly and efficient as usual. The food was as good as I remembered it - the taste has not changed at all. Their hot sauce still as good with the chili dogs and 3 way. We went there twice and had to restrain ourselves from eating there everyday during our short visit. I already miss it :(
First Time Skyliner - I like the chili
We had a mic of plates and all good. Chili with onions and mustard was mine along with a hot dog. I like the chili. The hot dog was kinda average.

Returned to my neighborhood after spending 4 years here many moons ago as a med student. Skyline Chili is still 'da bomb'. So good. Just like Cincinnatians can't get pizza like NYC, we can't get Skyline like Cincinnati. Like coming home. Anyway, chile was excellent as was the service.

This was my first visit to Ohio and everyone told me that I must have Skyline Chili in Cincinnati. I love chili so of course I followed the advise and went to Skyline. The building and neighborhood are cute and they have a large private parking lot. I will admit, the thought of chili on spaghetti freaked me out but I still wanted to try it. My husband and I each ordered some coney's and got a 3 way to share. Holy moly, everything was fantastic! Never expected to like chili on spaghetti but I actually loved it. The chili tastes great and the large pile of delicious cheese melts perfectly onto it. The service was great and the prices are super cheap. Loved Skyline Chili!!!

Because of all the hype about the unique chili in Cincinnati, I just had to stop for lunch at this local favorite restaurant. Of course I had to sample the chili and I agree that it is unique. The nostalgia of the corner "soda shop" abounds. The service is quick and efficient. This is not fancy, just fun.
I found the chili interesting, but the tendency to overdo the add-ons (e.g. cheese, beans, etc.) took a bit away from the chili itself. For those not familiar, this is a fine ground meat sauce served over spaghetti. Think Italian with chili powder added.
Overall this is a good place for a fast lunch with good food.
Good
Food: 3/5
Service: 5/5
Cleanliness: 2/5
Decor & Style: 2/5
I was not a big fan of the chili here. Honestly, it reminded me of a very authentic Vietnamese dish (in terms of flavor) called Bún bò Hu. If you're Vietnamese and you've tried the Skyline Chili I think you'd agree.
Anyways, I think it has a unique flavor but I guess I had something so different in my head before I arrived here so I felt it tasted very plain.
Decor is old and very 70s style. Service was one of the fastest I've ever seen!
I think it's worth it for everyone to try this place once to see what they think, it's very in-expensive.
Cincinnati's crown among the city's jewels
This local restaurant carries on the Skyline Chili tradition with family in mind. Plenty of tables in a space that hearkens back to another era. Food is always prepared for comfort and never disappoints. If you haven't had Skyline chili and dogs, you haven't lived. Go now. Your family will be happy.

Great staff! And the favorite Cincinnati 4-Way and Coney are the best! Consistent products and service every time!

Cincinnati chili is truly a local flavor you shouldn't miss. The idea of chili with spaghetti and oyster crackers seems something that a pregnant woman would crave at least to this west coast girl. But I have to say, Skyline chili was mighty tasty and super filling. We shared a full size plate and would have been ok with the small. In fact. I recommend the small plate and then share a coney dog. That would have been the ticket.
Be the first to ReplyRude Manager-Great Employees/Service
Service by college students was wonderful. Food was good. Manager on duty was rude, needs customer service training, and to appreciate his employees. One young man went above and beyond trying to see if they had a Clifton Skyline t-shirt in my size only to be reprimanded by the manager because the medium shelf was empty. (He was checking to see if any of the others were misplaced by accident.) We had seen the manager earlier in our visit and he was scowling while walking through the restaurant. (No greetings like other locations we visit in our travels.) Not only did the manager embarrass the employee because he had to ring up a customer but left a bad impression on us for future visits. Hopefully corporate Skyline will realize this manager may not be the most suitable person for the job and/or needs additional training. He should have been praising the employee for his customer service skills!
