Okay ambience,Service needs improvement
I have always loved Mikaye but the food portions, when they say finesse they didn't mean not sufficient. Athola was not chunks of meat but julienne chops stripes. The ambience is as usual good but when it gets to closing time even the water supply in the sink is cut off. It took 1½hours to get pork chops, original dawa and Athola. I would advise bringing in the drink orders before or updating the customer if there is delay

Be the first to ReplyNice place with bad service and many mistakes
This restaurant is like a lottery. It can be very good or very poor. Yesterday it was very bad service, no water in the bathroom tap's on the rooftop, broken loudspeakers and almost two hours waiting for food...One meal even got forgotten because the waitress thought she could write everything on her hand (!) - for six persons... And its not a cheap place...

At the centre of links road enroute home one can stop by and have a drink or to for the bed as catching up with friends about how the day has been..

Great Staff, quite hospitable. We stayed there late August last year. The place is homely, the bar area and restaurant side is quite cozy. Their food was also great.
Be the first to ReplyPainful service level; food quality is a mess.
Mikaye has always been my go-to “real food” restaurant since my first trip to Mombasa 4 years ago. Generally speaking, the food has hitherto this year, been great. Many times, I’ve asked for home delivery. However, Mikaye is no longer consistent in their execution. Lately, I’ve had to contend with missing ingredients, extremely slow service and just yesterday, the absence of a chef! It took one hour for the waitress to return with feedback that the chef was away. I’ve ordered chicken kienyeji twice in two weeks and gotten bitterly disappointed. The toughest chicken I’ve ever had to pay for. And by the time it’s served, you’ve waited nearly two hours. The waitresses just apologize when you indicate this to them. It doesn’t mean anything. Never going back to Mikaye I’m afraid. All the best!

1 hour after placing our order, we were informed that they do not have enough chicken. We had no choice but to cancel our order and leave. Very poor service.
Be the first to ReplyTasty but slow
The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Mikaye platters. Early evening ambience was also lovely. But it took almost two hours to prepare. Even when we had finished dining the bill took a while.
Be the first to ReplyAverage prices, service and meals
The food takes roughly one hour to be prepared. We had the Kuku Kienyeji wet fry which was abit tough but the choma pork chops was perfect. We forgot to order for any accompaniments and the waiter didn't bother asking us if we would like any with our meal. We had to take the food without accompaniments since it would take another 30 minutes for preparation. Beers are at 250/- and meals are moderately prices.
Be the first to ReplyMikaya Restaurant - in my view went downhill
When it first opened we were regular visitors but quality and service went downhill so stopped going. Has a sports bar. Easy access and good parking
