Ordered a corn beef sandwich on rye and a Montreal smoked
Ordered a corn beef sandwich on rye and a Montreal smoked meat (brisket) sandwich on rye. Also ordered potato salad and coleslaw sides. Live in Sheepshead Bay Area, not nearby. Couldn't wait to eat our dinner (having heard good things over the years about it). Well, talk about a major disappointment!! When we got home we discovered the order to be incorrect. We were given two corn beef sandwiches, cut in two different fashions!! One sliced traditionally and the other cut in thick dried out blocks!! All the meat was dried out!! We needed to have a sip of liquid to be able to chew and swallow. Our daughter had a brisket sandwich which was also dry, however it had a splash of BBQ sauce which made it tolerable. The coleslaw was also dry with barely a hint of vinegar, just shredded cabbage with spices. Needless to say we missed out on nothing by not going!! This was a total waste of time and money!!

i remember when i moved into the neighborhood 8 years ago mile end was "overpriced" for their sandwiches but since inflation and cost of living has skyrocketed and mile end's prices have generally stayed the same, their sandwich prices are now considered fair. i've only eaten here a handful of times, this past weekend being the most recent and first time dining in and since their restaurant expansion. the food here is good but not amazing. it's classic jewish comfort food - meaning, don't come here if you're on a diet - with influence from montreal. the service was fast and friendly but nothing noteworthy.i came here with 3 couples (6 adults) and 2 kids under the age of 3 and though it was a tight squeeze, we fit into a booth, 3 on each side with a baby in a toddler being passed around. each couple got their own thing but we got 2 classic poutines for the table which were great. i'd recommend getting a poutine - it's a popular pick!my bf and i shared the bubbie's brisket, turkey rueben and the jewlius caesar. bubbie's brisket: 4/5, tender and juicy but there wasn't much flavorturkey reuben: 4/5 tasted like a good turkey sandwich with sauerkrautjewlius: 3/5 really nothing to write home aboutbetween taste of kat'z and mile end, there isn't a shortage of good meats but i don't think either are must-visit places.

This place has really stepped up it's game and is back on my list of favorite Boerum Hill restaurants. I live in the neighborhood and have been going here on an off for almost a decade. It's had some ups and downs, especially during the pandemic, and eventually I stopped coming here because my favorite menu items went away, the food changed and felt more like takeout-quality than restaurant-quality, and there were better options. But a few things have happened this year: They bought the space next door and turned it into a bigger, brighter seating area; they updated the old space and expanded their kitchen; the old favorites are back on the menu; they staffed up and are a fully-functioning restaurant again. And the investment has paid off, because I was just there yesterday and had such a great experience. The space is really bright and clean and modern, the staff is lovely and the food is so, so delicious again. And it was BUSY, so the neighborhood has noticed. I love to see a small biz come back stronger than ever. Good job, people. I'm so happy you're back and I'll definitely be stopping by a lot.

Mile End, how can you possibly charge 10 dollars for mediocre soup with one matzoh ball. Come on now, I understand inflation but REALLY? The clearly previously frozen matzoh ball is crumbling into meal. Sorry, I loved you guys, but nope.
Be the first to ReplyI like this little eclectic spot downtown Brooklyn.
I had a latke and matzoh ball soup. Both items were delicious. I would recommend anybody give it a try if you're in the downtown Brooklyn area.

Craved smoke meat and poutine. This definitely did NOT do it. The fries are decent, they're the style I'm hoping for. It just lacks the signature Quebec fries flavor. The "smoke meat" is decent, but nothing to write home about. Stick to NY's good pastramis. The poutine cheese curds are meh, too salty. They don't squeak. The gravy is AWFUL. If you're from Quebec, think about our PFK beige chicken gravy. Yep, that's it. Don't expect a rich and meaty brown sauce.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious challah! Fast service and pleasant staff.
Next time will have to try some more food.

Worst "dining" experience, but can't even call it that because we never received our food. We waited an hour after placing our order and asked our waitress how much longer our food would be. She went to the kitchen to check and then told us it would be 10 more minutes. 15 minutes later she came over, asked us what we ordered again, and told us the order never was put in. She wasn't remotely apologetic and hovered as we gathered our belongings to leave, as if expecting us to pay for our two sodas.

My sons and I were visiting NYC and today was our last half day before heading back to LA. We're looking forward to have one last good meal in NYC. My oldest son, looked at this place and a few others around the area. However, when we passed by this restaurant my boys were attracted to smelled of cooked ham, haha! so we decided to give it a try. My boys ordered 3 smoked hash breakfasts, I ordered a breakfast sandwich and we also ordered 4 mismmoas. Well, to make the story short, the sever brought one hash breakfast because he thought were sharing, even though we says, "3 hash breakfast please" then, he asked what was missing, so we said, "we ordered 3 hash breakfast, so we are missing two " Of course, he apologized for the confusion and brought the other two breakfast a few mins later. After, my oldest son took his 2nd bite, I see him looking at his food weird. Then , I saw he took something out of his plate, so I asked him what was wrong? He said, "there is a hair in my food" omg! I looked and there it was a hair sticking out of the potatoe. It was Disgusting and I felt like throwing up, but I kept my Composure and told my son to tell the server. When my son told the waiter, he said, "oh, shit" he then l went to talk to an older man who I think is the owner. The Older man came to our table and said to my son, " so you want another one? I'm so sorry." In a very quiet voice of curse to not ruin the rest of paitrons experience. By then, I think my son has lost his appetite and decided cancel his order, so he told the older man to please cancel the order to which the oden man said, " I already took it off your bill and we are cooking you a new one" my son said, "that's ok, please cancel the Oder." I was really disappointed that we chose this place to be the last meal in NYC because it was such a bad experience. On top of the the whole hair thing, my breakfast sandwich was not great:/ the egg was runny (I don't like runny eggs) myabe that's the way is served in NYC and the mimosas in my view were overpriced $15 a piece for half a glass. Of curse, the mimosas were not ont the menu, so we should have asked how much they were before ordering them.I think to ovoid hair in peoples food in the future, everyone in the kitchen should wear a hairnet including the owner who I saw was in the kitchen most of the time. I hope this was

This place is good but it can be a hit or miss that hides behind its' hype. We own a brownstone near there and my son who looks young usually picks up what I refer to as lox on a bagel orders it online and picks it up went over and ordered one in person. Now mind you this is not a kid this is a college grad working in the city who could manag3 your investments. After he finished he came in the front parlor and told me "that sucked". Why? They gave me a stale bagel? A stale bagel in a spot that brags about its quality. Was it a fluke? Did they toast it too much? I wouldn't want to think they palmed a stale bagel on him because he looked young and they thought he wouldn't notice? Fortunately for them he didnt treat me to one this morning because I would have walked it right back down the street. He's much too nice and was way to hungry to complain. Next time he tells me he's going there I'm going to remind him that Miles isn't the best choice.
Be the first to ReplyI found this delicious place on goldbelly.
I'm so glad I did. I ordered this package that came with 2lbs of delicious cornbeef, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing, sauerkraut, and lots of yummy pickles. Oh and some fresh pumpkinickle bread. Everything came nicely packed and cold. I also can't believe how quick it came. I ordered this on Sunday and BAM it's here today (8/23/22). Made myself and hubby a Ruben sandwich and man was it delicious. I wanted another one. I will most definitely order from here again.

As a life-long deli customer with more than 6 decades of experience eating smoked meats, pastrami, & corned beef under my belt, I'm sorry to say that I had the absolutely worst sandwich eating experience earlier this week at Mile End. The meat on my regular sized sandwich ($18) was filled with chewy grizzly fat throughout that it was impossible to swallow. The sandwich maker not only failed to trim the fat from piece of meat they used for my sandwich but also failed to trim off the oxidized brown ends, yielding an unappetizing brown and pink palette of undigestable meat. Further, the counter guy (they only have window pick-up service) seemed to care very little when I responded to his question "How was the food?" with my response that it was the worst sandwich I've ever had at Mile End. There wasn't even a faint attempt to show any empathy, let alone offer to make me a new sandwich (which I would have appreciated but would have also politely declined.) I used to really like this place but standards seemed to have slipped tremendously. I hope they can make corrections, starting with quality control, real soon.

I really want to like Mile end up but I've probably been 4 times and I've just never found it very good. When I order the lox I find myself thinking I could have just gone to my local bagel place it would have been better and significantly cheaper

Visiting Brooklyn for a few days and needed to find a pastrami sandwich. Well my friends, this was even better. I'll take thick juicy slices of smoked brisket any day over the thin strips of pastrami. Perfectly seasoned and piled high on fresh rye bread. I left off the mustard as I shared this bad boy with my daughter who doesn't like mustard. The large was plenty for the two us although I probably couldn't have downed the whole thing myself. We also got some fries which were perfectly well done and seasoned. Definitely recommend and looking forward to trying some of their other items next time we're in town.

The menu is extensive - and still, each item is incredible and unique. Service is great, along with the people who work there. Highly recommend

Food is still great! We haven't been back for four year, I know it's been awhile! But the food tasted great! I was a little bummed that I didn't see the heirloom tomato salad that I remembered so fondly on the menu but the smoked meat sandwich tasted great! We sat outside since they closed the indoor seating I assume due to Covid-19, thank goodness it was a bit cooler due to it being the 7pm hour.
Be the first to ReplyI rember bathing in the smoked meat poutine pre-Covid.
..but this time the meat tasted pretty much like corned beef and I was given about ten ketchup packets and didn't see until I opened the package that there was no gravy on the poutine. My companion got a breakfast sandwich that included a mealy latke. I also got a bagel that was a standard NY bagel, not Montreal style. Mediocre.

Celebrating coming back to NY for my first granddaughter and on St Patrick's day had the Corn beef on rye with Swiss cheese and it was delicious. The portions are big and was only able to eat a half for lunch but saving the other for dinner. Will come back again for sure and soon.

Be the first to ReplyMike End Delicatessen Brooklyn is a meat lover's paradise.
Their menu boasts a wide selection of meat options, including but not limited to smoked meat and briskets. They seem to have a very loyal local fan base in the area. Every time I've passed the location there's a line of carnivores chomping down on mouthwatering sandwiches and/or poutine. This visit, I ordered the smoked meat poutine for $14.15. It was a hearty array of deliciously fried potatoes, a hefty dosing of cheese curds, sliced smoked meat, with a side of gravy. Although delicious, the meal was heavy and I struggled finishing it all--which is a great thing for those with big appetites. The poutine is large enough to be shared with 2 adults. The customer service was great and staff wore masks.

I love mile end and this review is to remind them not to falter. I have eaten there and get delivery from them often. Smoked meat is great. Love the matzo ball soup, and latkes. But this time the order was a disaster. Soggy sandwiches, dry babka. And the coup de grace. The chopped cheese. Do not order! You have been warned. Two dry hamburgers not chopped. And cheese that isn't even melted. Wow! Just bad. Get it together mile end.
Be the first to Replyit is a street deli with friendly staff and loyal neighbors.
i always like this kind of deli which could light up the community nearby. food is good, but a little pricy. but we are in NYC, what can be say more
Be the first to ReplyI love deli's so was excited to try this place.
I did not like the smoked meat sandwich. There was a lot of fat in my sandwich and the meat was too thick for my taste but others love it so it depends on your preference. We also got the Eli Reuben which I liked better. I took the thick fatty meat out (that was also in the smoked meat sandwich) and enjoyed the rest of it. Next time I'll just get a Reuben. The poutine was good, the salad was good (the dressing was amazing!), the sour pickle had a strange flavor so I wouldn't get that again. We got the cinnamon babka which wasn't bad, a bit dense for my taste but it was my first time trying it. It had a good flavor and reminded me of Cinnabon. So if you like cinnamon rolls Youll like it. The lady behind the pick-up window who helped us was really nice, we also ordered off their website so by the time we got there our food was already prospered and ready to go. Thank you!
