A True Privilege to Experience a Meal Here
When it comes to attention to detail and staff there is no questions why Mirazur has the rating it does. This was my first dining experience at a three Michelin Star restaurant. The staff was great and friendly and the food was fantastic. The menu changes periodically based on the season and what is grown in the garden. When I was there, it was a floral season and each dish had a floral taste to it from the actual flowers that were in there garden. It is a pretty amazing thing to experience eating something that someone may never have again since the menu changes so frequently. The view is 10/10 and the nine courses are all very filling.

Absolutely delicious and outstanding service! It is indeed one of the best, if not the best, 3 Michelin star in the world! We had a 9 course dinner menu and I must say that the chef was very generous with the portions.

I went to the Mirazur pop-up at Gantry Restaurant in Sydney with some friends. If I could give it a "0" star rating, I would. Probably one of the poorest meals I have had for supposed "fine dining". Whilst a coupe of the degustation dishes were tasty (beetroot with wagyu), most of them were either over-flavoured or under-flavoured. The seafood also did not appear to be fresh. The lowlight of the dinner was the lobster with vanilla. They should apologise to the lobster for having died for something so bad - all you could taste was the gritty vanilla sauce which totally over-powered the unfortunate lobster. The accompanying wine list was also poor, although the sommelier was excellent and did a great job with what he had. Staff were friendly and accommodating but nothing could overcome the bad food. And all of this for $685 per head????

A once in a lifetime experience, definitely the best diner we ever had, everything was perfect, the Chef’s philosophy was extremely interesting and you can feel the stories he is trying to tell through his unique creation. Simply Astonishing

We had a great experience at Mirazur. The creativity in each dish is evident. The food is also excellent. The views overlooking the sea and Menton can’t be beat. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It’s worth the money to do once in your life.

I rarely write reviews on here anymore but honestly, some of the self-important maunderings found in below reviews recently spurred me into action. Balance is an important part of the restaurant’s concept…so I’ll endeavour to restore some here.
My other half and I visited Mirazur in late October, and was the reason we visited the south of France as our first post-lockdown holiday. We both share a love of fine dining and joyously creative expressions of food…and Mirazur did not disappoint.
The restaurant itself is beautiful - simple and restrained with fabulous gardens… it was the perfect background to showcase the food.
I won’t wax lyrical on every course. Suffice to say that the Flowers menu was a joy. Carefully thought through and beautifully presented, with lovely little touches such as the poem with grandma’s bread and the perfectly paired non-alcoholic kombucha-style flight, we really felt that it was a coherent journey that we were taken on, from the little tastebombs of amuse-bouches to the stunning petit fours. And my sardonically sarcastic butt is about as far from any starry-eyed ‘astral journey hippy’ as you can get.
My favourites are still torn between three courses. The saffron mussels, quite frankly, outmatched any mussels I’ve ever had before. Soft and buttery, they melted in my mouth while the rich saffron sauce and golden beetroot made my mouth sing. Yum.
Then there was the John Dory with shaved cauliflower and these little tapioca balls that exploded with sharp pops of taste and moisture, the fish perfectly cooked and flaking in my mouth.
Then there was the dessert, based around honey. I love honey to a ridiculous degree and the creamy concoction did not disappoint this inveterate honey-lover. Cracking through the honeycomb biscuit to sink into the creamy dessert, that hid a molten honey centre and a buttery biscuit base…it genuinely made me want to have seconds, thirds and fourths…if they delivered, I’d take a few kilos a month, easy :D
The real stand out was the service, though. Both of our servers were super-friendly; pleasant and joking without the stuffy formality of old fine dining or the over-familiarity that has too-oft replaced it. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable and lovely with it. We went for the home brewed non-alcoholic flight but asked her to pick a single glass of wine to go with one of the courses of her choice and it was perfect, while the non-alcoholic drinks were a delight.
Likewise, the pacing of the courses was pitched well and the portions were generous without being overpowering for the most part. Just don’t be me and stuff yourself on the warm, fresh bread at the start…noob mistake *facepalms*. Even the toilets were beautiful!
In the interest of balance, again, then there were a couple of lower notes. The foie gras was too large and rich for a single portion, especially in a nine-course tasting menu. Then there was a bit of a ‘mare with the taxi we had booked where I couldn’t get through to our driver and so booked another through the receptionist. Then our driver called to say he was on his way so I had to cancel the one from reception. I was left under no illusions as to how low this behaviour was in a fabulously Gallic manner - I felt like I had been sent to the headmistress’ office xD
These were tiny, tiny things and certainly didn’t detract from our experience. All in all, we left feeling like we had very good value for our money, too stuffed to eat the cute little take-out chocolate bags they’d given us and stupidly happy. We’d go back again tomorrow.
If you have a chance to go to Mirazur, I would very much recommend it. Try booking early in the evening - we were booked in for 19:30 and were out around 3-3.5 hours later. It was a perfect evening for us that we will remember for some time.
